Great pasta options and traditional Italian dishes with a modern spin. Impressive selection of wines, both by the glass and by the bottle. The location is fantastic, and the interior dining area is very intimate. Excellent place to take a date, although be warned the service seems a bit on the slower side.

Service was very slow but I guess it is expected since gratuity is automatically added! One plate was served after everyone else was finished eating dinner. Manager said it was served in a timely manner!!! We were guaranteed separate checks but again management said no due to changing of seats, which never happened.

Wow! Step into this place and it’s like you left Dallas. It’s a little roomier than a NYC restaurant but just as good. We booked it the night before on Open Table. Our table was ready before our time. White table cloths, professionally and uniformly dressed servers. Service was awesome! Water glass never went to half full. Hot bread with olive oil. Jazzy music playing overhead. Despite being packed, our food came out piping hot in no time! We ordered a bottle of wine and a couple of drinkers like us had a half bottle to drink AFTER dinner because it all came out so fast. Fantastic experience and dinner. Lobster ravioli was AWESOME!

Ehh. Food was decent. Service was acceptable at best. Server complained to us before we even settled in how he was called into work tonight on his day off because they didn’t schedule enough people to work tonight. I guess I’m being sour because my food came out incorrect. Had the server only written my order down, maybe there would have been no mistake. However, I never saw a manager; I guess they didn’t even hear about the mistake. Either that, or they didn’t care about it. I guess overall I didn’t feel very welcome.

First time ever visiting this place. I must say the view of downtown Dallas is awesome. I ordered the seafood linguini and was not disappointed. Price was a little high if you ask me but overall was worth it. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who’s looking for good Italian food.

There is much to like about this new addition to Trinity Groves… The bar… a great bar. It’s been packed each time I have gone. Good service, with friendly bartenders. The little zucchini things they give you to munch on… either you’ll like them or hate them. I have only eaten there once, but it was very good. I had the capresi to start… it was well prepared. They know how to get that right(some places don’t). For my entrée I had the«Alfredo» but that is a misnomer because it was served on farfalle and had sausage, peas and a very light sauce. Perfectly balanced… hearty but still not something that will floor you. It was wonderful. You can easily fill up on the crusty bread and olive oil they bring you, so look out. I only had a glass of wine, but their list was very adequate. The service was top notch. Prices were fair, considering what was delivered. I love the ambience and décor…the place is aptly named… very New York(in a good way). The rooftop bar is going to be a great place to hang out when the weather warms up. I am so happy to have a high quality Italian place in Oak Cliff(i.e. not of the Olive garden variety!)

Went here for my 2 year Anniversary and had a delicious meal. We started off with the Antipasti Board! Great food, service and taste. Wow! Amazing! Our main entrée was the braised pork with white beans and spinach on top. This is huge and very tasty! So good! For dessert we ended with the Cheesecake(NY Style)!

For an appetizer we ordered the sausage & peppers. I can imagine Italian families in New York City eating this exact dish. I don’t know if they do, but it felt authentic. The bread was fine but nothing special. I’ve definitely had better. in fact I just had better bread at Trattoria Reggiano(Venetian, Las Vegas), which also happened to be a cheaper meal. I am happy the bread was endless though to ensure that we filled our bellies. For a main course I ordered spaghet… oh wait no I didn’t. I guess Italians in New York City don’t eat spaghetti and meatballs because it’s not on the menu. I find that really really hard to believe. Sure, people will say that spaghetti is just a safe/generic option to go with but I really like spaghetti, SOSUEMEWHYDON’T YA!?! Some will argue that one can easily make that at home but I’m way too important to cook my own food. Actually, my favorite pasta is Capellini(angel hair) but I didn’t see that on the menu either. So I asked the waiter if they had spaghetti and meatballs off the menu and he said«no» but they do have Cavatappi & Marmi on the menu. Cavatappi is a macaroni and it is served here with mini-meatballs. It was good, but not really what I wanted. There’s a reason that spaghetti and meatballs is known worldwide and nobody has ever heard of cavatappi and meatballs. The menu itself seemed kind of intimidating. I had no clue what might be good and it seemed like a lot of dishes didn’t have pasta at all, which didn’t make much sense to me. I suppose our waiter didn’t help much in explaining things to us. The atmosphere was fine. Most people were dressed nice, but I am disappointed they allowed my friend in dressed casually with a hoodie on. Also, I saw a big guy wearing a baseball cap backwards. If I owned the place I would have slapped that cap right off his head and thrown him out.

Great new place: ask for Tabatha who is very nice. She recommends the lasagna deconstructed. Also you can substitute chicken for sausage in the Alfredo that I wish I had. Parmesan grater yay! Hurry before word gets out & this place gets too packed. Restaurant is Out in Trinity groves right over that beautiful bridge. Great atmosphere, wine, and dessert list. Not too pricey! The bread is addictive. I took mine home. Simple and tasty crust.

Walking into the dining room at Saint Rocco’s reminds me of a cross between the original Maggiano’s in Chicago and a new glossy diner with the red and white industrial design on the kitchen side. That’s not a bad thing — the atmosphere was nice on a weeknight. The manager was friendly and fun to chat with, with her Sicilian accent. The server was helpful and friendly also. We split a salad, which was plenty for two of us, would have been ok for the third person in our party, but she was saving her appetite for the main course. For her the MC was chicken parm. She ate every bite and enjoyed it. I had the prosciutto wrapped scallops over linquini. The scallops were fresh and cooked just right. The prosciutto gave it a bit more of a salty taste, but the dish was really rich. Ended up taking some of the pasta home. Husband had the seafood linquini. Various pieces of seafood, with shrimp and what I think were langostinos. Looked delicious and he didn’t leave any on the plate either. He did say the shrimp were overcooked a bit, but the flavor had a nice little kick to it. The drawback to this place is the prices. The food was good, the pasta had the right amount of sauce, and not overcooked; atmosphere nice; service friendly and efficient. But the prices need to come down — too many other excellent choices for italian food in Dallas. It seems that this is pretty much true of the Trinity Groves area restaurants.

Loved everything about it except the bill! Food was excellent. Shared the calamari appetizer which was tender, well seasoned and delicious. Then I ordered the chicken parm. It was excellent. Just the right crispiness to the chicken and the sauce was great. The pasta that comes with it had a nice vodka sauce. Hubs had the rigatoni bolognese, Daughter had the cavatappi and meatballs, and my father had the Sicilian lasagna. He hadn’t had lasagna in a bowl before, but he liked it. Portions were large, so we were too full for dessert. I’m not sure it was any better than Macaroni grill or Buca di Beppo, but it was a lot more expensive. So it loses a star for value. But it really was a lovely meal.

We had dinner nearby and stopped in for a drink because we were curious. We took seats near the food preparation area. Our service was great and we had a blast watching the cooks crank out the orders. Everything looked amazing and it made us want to order even though we were all still stuffed from dinner. We did make mental notes, the rigatoni seemed to be the most popular and looked delicious. The flatbreads also seem popular. Our bartender was awesome and let us try his salted caramel tiramisu cocktail, absolutely delicious! We plan on coming back for dinner next time. If you are in the mood for drinks, their bar is great.

I had dinner here last night and it was such a disappointing experience. The food was just okay but the wait staff was horrible(and it wasn’t even busy as it was a Wednesday evening). The waiter was just an idiot. He would come up and jump right in and awkwardly interrupt conversation MULTIPLE times. Appetizers for our group showed up at different times. Glasses would be on empty and we’d have to ASK for a refill. When the refill was brought, we’d have to stop him and ask him to remove plates, empty glasses, etc(it wasn’t obvious to him). By the end of dinner I was p! ssed, and to add insult to injury, we got the check(which was screwed up too). Made me feel like an idiot for a paying such a $teep tab for total crap service. If you’re looking for a fine dining experience, keep driving. I’ve had better food and service at Applebees(at about 5x less in cost). Disapointing is an understatement…

Maybe I’m just jaded, but between amazing upstate New York hearty Italian American spots or the amazing New York City new Italian restaurants, this place had A LOT to live up to and it was a miss for me. First, the place was FREEZING. Holy air conditioning. And we had a really odd server. He was actually trying to bargain wine prices with us. It was such a weird experience. He brought out 3 bottles he was suggesting for us, ranging from $ 60 to $ 250. Whoa buddy! Maybe if we showed you something we were interested in you’d realize that we were definitely more on the $ 60 side. I mean I’m not a cheap person but I’m not going to buy a $ 250 bottle of wine. The wine he suggested we asked him it was a particular one on the menu we saw, he said it wasn’t and he would ask the manager if we could work out a deal on the bottle and bring it down. It just was a bizarre encounter of wheeling and dealing that seemed off. And frankly, we didn’t even want the bottle he gave us so it was just uncomfortable because it almost felt like he was pushing that bottle on us. We finally decided to speak up on how cold it was and ask for a table outside. Thankfully, not only did we get warmer, but we were able to lose our server negotiator and get a new one who took a more traditional approach to recommendations and accommodating our tastes. Thank god. In fact, our peer pressure dude even came outside to yet again, let us know the deal he got us on the wine and wanted to know if we wanted it still. We graciously declined and told him we were going in a new direction. Whoa buddy. Chill. As for the food, I was really happy with the appetizers and my watermelon and mandarin orange salad. Both were flavorful and light. The polar opposite of my entrée that frankly debatably should have been the lightest of it all. I ordered Sole Milanese which to me being a light white fish with a white wine caper sauce should be a nice light way of going about dinner. But oh no. It was actually SUPER dense. Nothing light about it. The sauce was also so butter laden that it felt too decadent for a fish entrée. I almost thought I was eating a chicken or something since the fish had nothing flaky or moist about it. The fish really got it’s juiciness from the overly buttery sauce. I was not thrilled. I’m so used to getting amazing light but well seasoned and lemony fresh fish dishes and this was the opposite. And in general, all the dishes on our table that my friends ordered were all HUGE. I mean I know Texas like things BIG but these were just a bit out of control. The deconstructed lasagna was enormous. No one could actually get through their meals. We all were just STUFFED. I would think about more about the quality of the dish here than the quantity. I wouldn’t recommend that someone go here on their visit to Dallas. I venture to guess there are better establishments. And when I’m used to getting some of the best Italian out there, this is one that can say I won’t be giving word of mouth recommendations for. There are no Deal Seeking Diva tips when I don’t worry about ever seeking this place out again.

DH and I went on Friday night before the theater — had a reservation just after 6:00 and were seated immediately. I was surprised by the mostly empty dining area, but we were early. Still, by the time we left at almost 7:30, there were many empty tables. Service was good — water guy kept our water glasses full. They don’t bring you bread unless you ask. DH had veal scallopini and I had the white mushroom and artichoke flatbread along with the watermelon salad. I loved the watermelon salad, which included a bit of arugula, mandarin oranges, and feta. It was refreshing and delicious. DH said he had had better veal, but the sauce was really good. My flatbread was burned, yes burned. I thought places had gotten past the«burn the heck out of the dough» phase, but it was dry and burned to where I had to pull the crusts off, but then found the bottom burned, too. A bit too long in the oven and it dried out the rest of the good looking ingredients. We had cannoli and the espresso chocolate cake for dessert. DH said the cannoli had a funny spice he couldn’t quite put his finger on and he didn’t care much for it. The espresso cake had a wonderful chocolate sauce along with a scoop of good vanilla ice cream, but the cake itself was ordinary, almost boxed tasting, but I think it was homemade. Loved that sauce though, and would love to see an espresso sundae with just that ice cream and sauce. I do wish that the waiters had somewhere else to stand other than the back of the small-ish restaurant. You could tell they were commenting on the patrons being seated and they were mostly standing and chatting while a few tables were looking around for them. Our wait person was good, though, and the food came out quickly. Will we be back? Maybe, but it wasn’t anything special. We got out for around 50.00, but didn’t have drinks or an appetizer. We’ll probably visit Momo’s in uptown if we want really good Italian before the theater next time.

An amazing find. Who ever said you can’t find good Italian food in Dallas? The lasagna was served in a deconstructed fashion which brought out the beauty of the ingredients. The service was attentive without being stiff. Limited wine selection however it should be noted there are diverse sections available by the glass. I’ll toast to that! Keep up the great work, St. Rocco’s.

The looks of an New York restaurant in the early eras. Feels like the Rat Pack could pull up a seat right next to you any moment. If early evening is the time you’re dining, I recommend having a reservation. Typical 30 to 45 minute wait without a reservation for me and my date. The nice part is hat they do have a cocktail/wine bar. Food can also be served at the bar. The restaurant and table setup is not fancy, but rather classic and retro to imitate restaurants decades ago. I had the honor of having Jorge as my waiter/server. He was quick, witty, always checking on as at the right time. For appetizers, wine and one of their specialty cocktails. As their menu suggest with a corky quote up top. Entrée, veal malinese and seafood linguini. The veal was lightly battered. A nice crispness and juicy inside spoke for itself. The seafood linguini had lobster, shrimp, clams, and scallops. The best part was the soft and springy linguini. This is a wholesome establishment. Good drinks, food, and great service. Just be sure to make a reservation if your not a fan of waiting. I recommend ordering family style then share your plates with one another.
