Greenz

I hate giving this place 3 stars.
Everytime I go and eat either there or pick-​up it’s 5 stars. The service is the appropriate time for fresh food, the ingredients taste fresh, it’s not chock-​a-​bock full of preservatives and always satisfies my sensitive stomach. I love their salads.
Most of the time though — I go and it’s been randomly closed or no one answers the phone so I don’t bother to make the drive. I really feel like this is a terrible and awkward location but I’ve made the drive in the past because I enjoy the food (only to find it not open).
I wish they would move somewhere like Medical District Dr and give this area a place with healthier options to go eat, with better parking. We need something like Greenz around us. Uptown is too far during the lunch hour and the parking is terrible at this location.

So I gave Greenz another shot today. After entering my order on their website, I was given a 30 minute delivery time. That was at 11:30. My food arrived at 1:02. The driver did not stick around. He just left my food and an apology with the receptionist. Maybe he had someone else’s food to deliver. For the price and service I received after calling about my order… It’s not worth it.

Last time I got a wrap from Greenz, it wasn’t good. I used to get food there all the time some years back and thought it was a one off. So this week I ordered a build your own salad for pickup. I got salmon n greens with avocado, wasabi peas, strawberries and pineapple, with blue cheese on the side .
Now, this was a $ 13 dollar salad, but one for $ 2.99 from 711 would have been better.
The crummy cut of salmon was cold in the middle and not fully cooked. YUCK. there was a single sliver/​spoonful of avocado, why did I pay extra for avocado again? The 3 pineapple pieces were hard and syrupy, likely from a can. The greens were kind of old and didn’t fill the container. There were a few wasabi peas but not much.
The tiny side dressing of blue cheeses seemed to me to actually be mayonnaise (disgusting, not what I ordered) with some sort of gross oil or blue cheese flavoring. DO NOT OFFER DRESSING if its not blue cheese dressing.
The only thing that was fresh and plentiful were the strawberries which I took off the salad and put on a bagel with cream cheese and ate for lunch instead of the sub-​par convenience store quality 13 dollar salad that wen into the trash.
I wish I had walked back in and gotten my money back. I will never eat at Greenz again as they are bereft of quality or consideration for their customers. There are too many healthy eateries and other options in Uptown.
BIG FAIL!

This place just doesn’t have it together — salads are only okay, definitely not worth the price. Forgot to add the avocado to one of our orders. At least the presentation was nice! (See photos). Really wanted to like it since it’s in such a convenient location for me, but I guess I’ll just keep going to Chipotle across the street!

I always have a pleasant time when I go here. I live upstairs so it is nice to have a place so close that’s quick and healthy.
Make your own salad! There’s a dry-​erase marker and paper to choose you down ingredients. Just note that it’s fairly pricy, especially for a salad.
Sometimes it takes them a long time to make your food which makes no sense when you’re just ordering a salad with uncooked ingredients. But the people working are always really nice so they make up for the wait.
There aren’t many places around for you to get a soup and salad quickly so why not come here?

No strawberries, salads didn’t come as ordered. Friend found a bug in his salad and when he brought it to attention of worker, he did nothing about it. Never eat here

I wish this place was still in Addison circle however the food is just as brilliant! This place is great for a massive salad for around $ 10. My favorite is the chipotle chicken salad. I’ve experimented with a couple different choices of salads, sandwiches, appetizers and soups and I’m never disappointed. The quality is good and I never see a bad piece of lettuce or other ingredient. This location is quaint, to say the least but they do have a tiny yet enjoyable patio. I’ve never had a problem here. My only complaint would be that the employees are very bland which is not the case at the Addison location off of Beltline.

This place does not even deserve one star in my opinion. They have time and time again disappointed me.
This is the third occasion i have ordered lunch to be delivered for company working lunches. I am not sure why i have given them so many chances but a few people here at my office really love the food.
The first time the driver got lost and we never received order and had to cancel and order elsewhere.
The second time for a new business lunch they were an hour and half late with no
apology.
The third and last time (today) we decided to give them one more chance almost 8 months later.
THEY NEVER SHOWED. AFTER CALLING OVER AND OVER AGAIN JOEL FINALLY HUNG UP AND WE GOT NO FOOD OR APOLOGY.
This is a horrible way to run a business, and i would high recommend that you not go to this place. The customer service is down right nonexistent.

Sad, just sad.
We occasionally shamble into Greenz for a dainty nosh. There was a time when we could count on it to provide a light but satisfying lunch, and for all we know it might again. However we will never know because we will never go there again.
We arrived hoping for a simple soup and salad on a hot summer day. What we got was scorn and derision on a plate. I opted for the pesto soup and the pear and goat cheese salad, while my lunch-​mate attempted to order tortilla soup and the Buffalo chicken salad. Neither was successful. In fact, I want to believe the whole affair was some sort of cruel joke.
My pesto soup consisted of a tepid broth with a sediment of microscopic vegetables on the bottom. I’ve never seen anything like this. It really had the appearance, and likely the taste, of something dredged from the depths of the Trinity River. Imagine finely shredded carrot and zucchini immersed in lukewarm murky water with bits of basil floating about. It wasn’t even served hot enough to begin to melt the three shreds of unidentifiable cheese that completed the layer of matter at the bottom of the soup cup. It’s not at all clear what they were attempting to accomplish with this dreck. As for the pear goat cheese salad, what could have been a symphony of flavor was turned into a dirge of horribles. Huge chunks of pear, strawberries, and some lettuce dominated the plate. The goat cheese and pecans were nary to be seen, while the dressing (honey tea something or other) was completely misplaced. The lack of proportion made it way too sweet and the dressing (think watery simple syrup) didn’t help. It desperately needed some acidity to counter the sweetness of the fruit. You’d think a place devoted to salad would be able to figure this out. It was like a a fruit salad mated with a head of lettuce to produce a particularly dimwitted offspring.
I mentioned above my lunch-​mate attempted to order tortilla soup. I say attempted because we were informed they were out of it. He ordered the enchilada soup. Nope, out. He ordered the Monterrey Jack and Chicken soup. We though this would be the one until the counter attendant walked to our table to tell us… wait for it. they were out! Faced with the choice of creamy asparagus, Trinity river water or the turkey chili, there was really only one realistic choice. Turkey chili it was– we were assured that «some people» really like it. Turkey chili at Greenz is an overflowing bland mess of substance, that seems to principally consist of a large stewed tomato that takes up half the cup and some cumin. Salt is not an ingredient they see fit to utilize. The Buffalo chicken salad was a mess as well, but compared to everything else it was not terribly objectionable.
All this mediocrity can be yours for the low price of $ 26 and change. That’s $ 13 for a fist-​sized salad, a small cup of soup and an iced tea (which, to be fair, was good tea). The moral of the story here is to get the Buffalo chicken salad. Or perhaps a better moral is to avoid Greenz altogether.

Juicy fruit, seasoned veggies, fresh arugula and lean meats are the basic ingredients for most of the light and healthy items on the Greenz Menu. Whether your a carnivore, vegetarian or just on an indefinite diet (like myself), you’ll find a satisfying meal for an acceptable and relieving number of calories. The nutrition information is listed for each item, most are under 500 calories, but none are lacking in flavor.
This uptown location is designed as a small, modern bistro with an accompanying patio. Although the outdoor seating is located on a busy street, Greenz does allow for BYOB customers to unwind with their own cocktail or glass of wine.

I enjoy this lunch spot quite a lot. Every time I visit the people are always friendly and helpful. The space is quiet, clean and definitely contributes to a very relaxing lunch. My current favorite item here is the Bar None Salad. They had me at wheat beer vinaigrette… Seriously, try it. While we’re on the topic of salad dressing, it’s nice that they down drown the salad in it. I usually order my dressing on the side but no need to here. It’s just the right amount in my visits. I’ve also had a few of their sandwiches and salads as well. I’m pretty sure you’ll find something to your taste whether or not you’re a meat eater.
My only complaint is that depending on what you’re getting, this place can get a bit pricey-​at least for me. I guess that’s all relative on what you’re used to and what your expectations are. Regardless, I’m a fan of the place. I’ll definitely be back again and it will probably be for that Bar None…

Greenz is nothing to write home about, but it is fresh and consistent everytime.
Yes… as one of the few healthier options out there for lunch, the prices are considerably overpriced especially considering the menu. Greenz serves your usual turkey, ham, tuna sandwiches accompied with a variety of salads and soups.
I give Greenz three solid stars simply on the fresh ingredients and super-​friendly service. Portion sizes are small, but it is a decent option if you’re looking for a healthy quick meal.

I had a Groupon and the place seemed interesting with some healthy options. From the time I bought the Groupon I had my eyes set on the mediterranean salad (no olives because they creep me out) and with salmon. So, it’s what I got. I was disappointed in the all iceberg/​romaine lettuce… I mean, can I get some adult lettuce? Some spinach? Mixed greens? Something with more nutritional value? The size of the salmon was really disappointing and it was served with the skin on… is the skin even edible? It was also super fishy tasting/​smelling.
I just wasn’t impressed and not eager to go back at all. I am a huge fan of Eatzi’s and their make your own salad line… it’s fresher, more options, and gave me high standards. (;

As my first review indicates, Greenz has potential… or at least it did. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve had to-​go orders the last two times, because my standards have risen, or because they’ve actually gotten worse, but I have not been impressed by my most recent visits.
Today, I ordered the salad and sandwich combo. The «veggie delight» sandwich they served me was little more than a few bean sprouts and carrot pieces between half slices of grocery-​store wheat bread (I’ve posted a picture). Although I’ve never done this before, I actually went back to the restaurant to have them remake it once I saw what they’d given me. The remade sandwich was improved but was still missing the avocado — one of only four fillings listed in the menu description of the sandwich (and I’m generously including bean sprouts in that count).
I was also disappointed with the salad, although I couldn’t immediately put my finger on why. Then, when looking at the other photos for Greenz, I realized they’d left out the candied pecans (and the croûton, though that may be attributable to the fact that it was only a half salad), leaving my salad with no crunch to bring texture to the mixture of mushy pear, strawberries, and greens.
I’m probably done ordering takeout from Greenz, and, if I do return to dine in, they better get it right.

Had lunch with a co-​worker today and really enjoyed Greenz… with a few caveats.
Yay:
*Love the build-​your-​own option
*Very fresh, high quality veggies in my salad. The tzatziki dressing was really good too.
*My salad was delicious and good sized (if it was yucky, I really couldn’t complain because I picked the ingredients, right?)
Nay:
*Pricing…way, way high for fast food salad.
*Speaking of fast, it wasn’t. Our salads took a good long while to arrive.
Bottom line — I really did enjoy what I had and appreciated a healthy lunch choice. I would probably feel much differently about paying ~$ 30 for 2 salads + fountain drinks had it been my own money and not on the company card.

I found a coupon on Scoutmob and saved $ 8. This is just a small cute lunch spot located on McKinney. I sat on the patio outside– it was nce and quiet.
I had the tuna salad — it was HUGE and reallyt good. I could have used a little more tuna, but it did the trick. This is a good place to pick up a nice light lunch. Oh, I forgot to add… the lemon bars were really good too. I believe they make their own desserts.

I’m gonna spell this out real nice for all of you. No surprises to be had.

Pricey salads. Real pricey.
I ordered the Chipotle Chicken salad. I actually thought it was really good, but the only thing on the salad was lettuce, actual chicken salad (like a HUGE clump, not strips of chicken), candied walnuts and dressing. OH and a little teeny tiny bit of cheese. I mean really? $ 9? It was good, but not $ 9 good. I expected to be waiving hallelujah in the air like I had just had my soul taken. Sorry cheeses, no rice. My lunch date had the BBQ Texas slaw and a cup of the chicken enchilada soup and actually *ahem* it was delicious. I didn’t try his salad, but he seemed to enjoy it. I mean he eats bark off a tree.
It’s a clean place and the bussers that bring your food and clean your plate move at lightening speed. I like that it also has 3 dining rooms and a huge patio.
I’d like to think I’ll be back and I probably will, but after I get my paycheck or the man piece decides to treat.

The awning declares, «Salads for z’adventerous!», a misnomer that betrays what you might expect from this somewhat tony location. Adventure is relative, because I was expecting something more inventive and unusual. Just think of it as a fast food alternative and you’ll be happy.
I had panko shrimp on a bed of lettuce with carrots and wasabi peas. It was better than my last salad here, which was dull. Expect to shell out around $ 10. Sit on the shady patio that spills out onto the treelined sidewalk and people watch all the uptown hotties.

This place SUCKS.
I ordered a $ 9 salad one afternoon and didn’t eat it until I got back to my office. I was so disappointed. I got the apple walnut salad with the brie pastries… unfortunately– there were only 2 tiny crumbs that called themselves brie pastries. I couldn’t even taste the brie they were so small. There were a grand total of 8 walnuts and about a dozen super-​thin apple slices that were so thin I couldn’t even pick them up with a fork. AND, the deal-​breaker was that they forgot my dressing. So, basically, I spent $ 9 for non-​crisp lettuce, a couple nuts, and half an apple.
Don’t waste your time!

You know those days where you’re like, «Damn, I want a reeeeeally good salad. Where do I go?» Okay, maybe not. But I do. And those were just my words a few days ago when Leigh F and I wanted to grab some lunch. So we decided to be Ladies Who Lunch and go to Greenz… after all, she did RAVE about the place the whole way there.
I stared at the menu for a good 10 minutes, thinking «Well, I could swap that for that, and add that, and take off that…» before getting smart and making my own. What did I put in that sweet bowl, might you ask?
Spring mix. Romaine. Mushrooms. Red onion. Green onion. Black bean and corn salsa. Tomatoes. Avocado. Pepperjack cheese. Red bell pepper. Chicken. Cilantro-​lime vinaigrette. Delicious.
The presentation really won me over. Seriously, I thought there was a salad artist back there critiquing every plate that went out, because it was almost too beautiful to eat.
Back to the ingredients. The only problems I had were that I didn’t see any tomatoes (maybe they forgot, but I didn’t notice until after I was done, oops), the chicken was a little rubbery and bland, and the vinaigrette was a little too tangy.
The restaurant itself had a slight sting to it and made me feel like I was sitting next to a bucket of cleaning supplies — not exactly a smell you want while eating a light salad but at least I knew it was clean, right?
I would say this is my go-​to salad place, but something was just a bit off about the whole experience. But hey, it’s close to my casa, so that’s cool.

Help! I’ve been robbed! My $ 8.61 has been stolen. Well, maybe I actually willingly gave it over, but I was still robbed. Well, maybe I wasn’t robbed, but I am sick and tired for paying for overpriced salads.
How does a salad get to cost $ 8.61? Did Jesus grow the lettuce himself? Did Buddha wash the tomatoes and place them in the sun to dry? Did dolphins lay the eggs that went into the Caesar dressing? Did seven celestial virgins hand bake the croutons?
No. So why am I paying $ 8.61 for a salad?
When I ordered a Caesar Salad, to go, from Greenze, the cashier told me the salad would be large. They did put the salad in a large container, but for $ 8.61 that bitch better be overflowing with lettuce and almost impossible to close. The salad tasted good, but I’ve had just as good at other places. Plus, they did not give me enough dressing. The sun dried tomatoes were really tasty, I won’t lie, but that doesn’t make up for being shorted on the dressing.
Also, the cashier, Eric D., made me wait over 5 minutes before placing my order, because he was on the phone.
I want my $ 8.61 back.
