Genesis Benefit Thrift Store

I’m glad I found this place! We were on the hunt for picture frames on all styles and been to multiple places before this stop. They have a decent clothes section and the furniture was in good shop. But… their frame selection was JACKPOT! To top it off they had ½ wall décor when we went, so even better! Very reasonable prices! I got a really big mirror and about 10 – 15 frames for $ 50!
The store volunteers were helpful and nice! People were constantly dropping off donations! I saw 4 people drop off car fulls just while I was waiting for my husband to bring the truck around.
Only downside is, when busy, the parking lot fills quick. We had to park down the street and walk to… totally worth it though! I will be returning when I need little nik-​naks for around the house.

Lately prices have become crazy high for a thrift store. Watch it or you will price yourself out of business

I consider myself a thrift store expert and this place is just waaaaaaay overpriced!

The best! New stuff in every day, but you gotta get it when you see it or it will be gone! I’ve bought clothing, designer handbags, furniture, you name it! And… sales benefit the women and children at the shelter! Win, win!

The best!!! I love this place. I donate here and when I purchase here — about every 3 – 4 months, I bring home a whole garbage bag full of items. Since this is so close to the park cities, you can find great deals on items from high end retailers. I love the vintage mixed with modern as well. Everyone is friendly here and helpful. Sometimes it can get crowded and I feel bad because I am that customer that’s always bumping into people with my sore arms and clothing sprawling everywhere.

This is a great thrift store. About as good as a thrift store can get. They are small as far as space. I purchased my living room, gently used, white leather couch and matching chair from them. I also got a really nice white frosted glass and bronze standing lamp with hanging glass beads for $ 30. It looks super pretty in my white themed bedroom.
I like that their proceeds go to the abused women and children’s shelter. They do a really good job of organizing the clothes by color, but of course you’ve got to dig for your size. Things may be a tad more expensive here than other thrift stores, but it is higher quality. You’ve really got to give yourself a full day to dig here. You’ve also probably got to dedicate the time to coming back multiple times if you’re looking to score the elusive name brand scores that some of the other Unilocalers have listed.
They have a small selection of kitchen goods as well as home decorative goods like pictures, frames, mirrors, lamps, etc. There are two-​three small bookshelves of books. They have some pretty, high quality jewelry that I always want to look at, but run out of time. The first time I did try to get one, the price was really high, like $ 15 for a used necklace, so I declined.
I’ve always gone in the afternoon and I always run out of time here and never get to see all the things I wanted to see. I’d advise going during the week in the morning, early afternoon-​ish if at all possible. The weekends get really busy with kids running around and waits in the lines. Oh, and the parking lot is really small, and is always full. No worry, just park on the other side by Starbucks. It’s also kind of hidden. It’s on the other side of (behind) the Starbucks and behind Hollywood feed.

I do not understand this place… sign says closed at 530, so I drive up 515 thinking I can just run in. I got 15 min, nope will not let me in. when did management not care about selling stuff. must be nice to have so much money you don’t need customers. I don’t belive I will return, I love thrift shops, so I am off to Out Of The Closet.

I love this thrift store. Every time I go I find more great stuff than I did the time before. Everything is in good shape and adorable.

I love thrift shopping so I frequent several thrift stores regularly due to my frugal nature. This is of my favorite resale shops and it goes to a good cause by helping support Genesis outreach. Like many thrift stores the selection varies daily so it can be a hit or miss. At Genesis more often than not you leave with something you can’t live without!

My mom hasn’t stopped talking about the amazing clothing and home goods finds from this store since she found it about 2 years ago. I’ve finally been for a visit and it holds up to the hype and then some!
I found a bunch of great clothes at amazing prices and the staff are very fair in their discount for damaged clothing. I wasn’t looking for any home goods but was very tempted!

They seriously have everything I want every time I go,
They have an extended variety of women’s clothes, great brands, the home décor can be a bit pricey some times but they also have reasonable price home décor items,
I feel like besides the trouble you have finding parking space this place is great for gently used items!

They have a wide variety of good name brands, owing to their proximity to Park Cities, Uptown, and Oak Lawn I am sure.
So this is a great place to get good brands on the cheap that are gently used. I’ve found stuff that was obviously never worn before. And yes, I even find my plus sizes there, too. The shoes are kind of all over the place, so that can get a bit hectic to shop for specifically. Otherwise, they have very good organization.

It’s been exactly one year (ok 11mos) since the first time I set eyes on that very tiny very un-​flashy sign that says genesis benefit thrift store! I must say I would never thought my livinig situation would be dictated by such a store! Now a little over 1year after moving to Dallas I am shocked to say genesis has become my go to for EVERYTHING from dresesses to hand bags to a perfect conversation wirh my friend Pablo who“works” the door lol… The selection is vast as is my complaints! So far and few between I can’t really remember. What it was! I can say that never once have I with a more substantial staff. Everyone who works there is simply amaZing. If Genesis had a not so hot selection i would sill gi there just to converse with the people that work there. I honestly don’t think the women of Genesis shelter could ask for a better set of workers who represent their store front!
Now moving on SELECTION: mens not real big i recommend out of the closet just up a couple streets. Furniture is wonderful somtimes priced high but as long as you ask stating a reasonable mark down & why then at least in ny experiences the have no problem changing it! The shoes are all color coded which is nice but at the same time they should spend that time arranging by size. Im positive most would age its tiring trying to look through every shoe in its colored section for your own size! The handbags are my favorite i have two very nice Doony’s and a REAL Louis Viton i paid well I wont say but it was under a hundred! I have a few more bags I’ve bought for friends and family that the $$$ Ive saved on bags is reason enough to love Genesis! As for clothing yes yes yes please. They have it all on a thrit store level I promise u won’t find anything that compares they have everything for everyone in every size! There is so much stuff you will never stay mad «about not finding that Versace blazer you thought to have cleverly hid,» for too long because within the next few moments you will fall in love just as hard with something else! For example I was super bummer when i couldn’t find these one pants (seriously I can’t remember the designer name) not even a min went by I stumbled on white Christian Dior pants! So in this review you may quote me you will NOT leave empty handed or disappointed and the staff will help make the experience memorable!
Oh ya I almost FORGOT my compaint again lol its the hours of operation! They truely suck even on the weekends someone got to fix that please!!!

I just got 3 pairs of shoes for $ 17 including one pair of Coach for $ 8! Great items, very nice staff with a selection of name brand quality items. Everything from jewelry, books, art and furniture. Will definitely be back!
Parking is a bit of a nightmare and if you sit in your car upon leaving people will honk at you to leave. Totally worth it!

Couple years overdo for another update! I’ve been back and forth to this store many times since my last review and I always find something fantastic. Last visit was an Armani suit jacket for $ 40 and today some jeans. Citizens of Humanity for $ 10, Eddie Bauer for $ 9… sometimes it takes time to find the goodies but it’s well worth it. You have to go often to grab the real finds… from furniture to top brands… people donate all day everyday.

Always a good place to find men’s business-​casual
work attire (in good condition)! Always a huge
selection of nice dress shirts and polos etc. Not
a lot of furniture… but what they do get tends to
be fairly good quality.

Great fun and clean store. The for-​sale merchandise is always changing. Don’t leave the store, thinking «you’ll sleep on it» overnight and decide to go back– the item you thought about buying will be GONE! Large selection of women’s handbags and shoes.

was my first time 2 weeks ago. I bought Kore-​Ease leather boots practically never worn & Ann Klein skirt. I went and was so pleasantly suprised. It doesn’t smell like feet (Goodwill off of Greenville smells like fish & feet). This is a great thrift store. I guess I say this because most thrift store’s are either worth going into or its not. With me there is no in between. I love
the people that come to shop & try to lowball and get their great finds for less because of the price they «thought,» they read… Kick Rocks! Either pay for the merchandise or don’t buy it. its a thrift store. That is all ! By the way dont come too late in the day or late on weekends the parking can suck at times. That’s Lemmon Ave for you.
