I needed to replace the hard drive cable in my MacBook. I already had the new part purchased. All they needed to do was swap it out, as I had already removed the hard drive and everything else that needed to be removed. I just didn’t have the right tool I needed. I asked them how much they’d charge me since it was about 5 minutes of work.
They wanted $ 150 — said it was a flat fee for any work on a mac (regardless of time) b/​c their time still deserved compensation. Absolutely ridiculous! I’ll just buy the tiny screwdriver and save $ 140.

very disappointed. Brought my Mac there for diagnostics, they told me the harddrive and the motherboard were damaged. I didn’t trust them and brought it to the MacEnthusiasts on Pico, turned out only the hard drive was defect, the difference in cost for me was $ 600.

i was very happy with my experience at West LA comp svcs The hard drive died on my imac and i needed to get some data off of it. i tried to recover it my self to no avail. i shopped around and this place had the best price for data recovery. firaj was very professional and friendly. he kept in communication with me through the whole process, and was able to recover all my data! i couldnt be happier. everyone there treated me great too.

Excellent. Knowledgeable and reasonably priced. Quick as well. I had my Lenovo laptop breakdown. The folks at West LA Computer Services quickly got the correct part number, located an official IBM part, gave me an honest quote and had the part shipped in and fixed my computer quickly.
WLACS did not charge me until they showed me that the computer was working and the woman at the front desk, Jane, called to follow up a week later to make sure my computer was working fine. Conveniently located near Sony Studios. Highly recommend.

Reading some of the reviews here quite frankly I’m shocked because we’ve had night and day different experiences. People can be moody and have bad days and, so it’s normal to expect some days are better than others. Businesses are run by people and customers who come into be services are also people. Expectantly, we can always find a solution and work it out together. Obviously, I can only share my experience as I write my review, so here goes:
I’m the CEO of a production company and Founder of a charity organization, I have many external hard drives, towers and lap tops to keep the work flow moving. Faraj and his team have always shot straight by diagnosing the problem (s) usually within 24 hours or less & costs ($ 45) and then providing all the various solutions available along with the reasonable costs associated with those.
In the 6 years I have been taking all my computer repairs to Faraj & his team I have only known the services as always reliable, best competitive market pricing & exceptional customer service. Anytime I have computer problems Faraj & his knowledgeable staff get it done professionally, reliably, quickly & efficiently.
I give four star as my highest rating as I believe we always have more room for growth and improvement as individuals, partners, businesses & as members of the human race.

Last October I brought my beloved 17″ MacBook Pro to WLACS based solely on their proximity to my office. Diagnosis: fried logic board. A few days and a grand later I was on my way.
Fast-​forward to last month: my Pro again goes dark. Having taken a new job in the Valley I brought it to a more conveniently located shop. Diagnosis: fried logic board. Again.
I thanked Valley shop for the diagnosis and promptly headed to WLACS.
I was polite in expressing my frustration; they were polite in defending their work. We agreed to have them order and install yet another logic board, then «work something out» with respect to fees.
We’re talking about an $ 800+ part before labor here. Should I have declined to negotiate our arrangement up front? Probably not. But I did just that. Based on my interactions to date I trusted the outcome would be, at a minimum, fair.
Today I headed to WLACS to pick up my resuscitated Mac.
They handed me my invoice. Total charge: $ 0.
Now I realize the premature death of my first logic board very well may have been their fault. But there was no way to confirm this. Therefore I arrived today fully prepared to accept a reasonable settlement — say, waive the labor and let’s split the cost of the new part. I arrived fully prepared to drop another 400 for what may have been their mistake.
But that is not what happened.
Instead, WLACS earned themselves a loyal customer by taking the full hit in the name of cementing a long-​term customer relationship.
Mission accomplished! I may live 15+ miles from them but I will make the trek every time. Because, in the face of a murky and costly situation, WLACS didn’t hesitate to do the right thing.
End of the day, is this not exactly what you hope will be the case when you entrust your gear to a repair shop?

I took two different computers to this place.
was a bit pricey, but after growing up going to places like Best Buy, CompUSA, and shady small time places in the Korean community (my parents are immigrants) where they hold your comp for days before looking at it and when they do they take another couple of weeks to tell you that they can’t fix it (or do a half hearted job fixing it), I appreciate how quick they get the job done and done well.
I came in late in the day, they called me the next to tell me what was was wrong, what my options were, and if I wanted to continue, and I got it back the next day. For me, who goes crazy without the computer or internet, this is a huge plus.
I’m sorry to hear about the others’ experience. I guess it depends on which guy you get that day to agree to work on your computer.

WOW! i should have read the reviews of this place and the way «Faraj» treats his customers. This dude is such a douche. Worst business practices ever, it’s no wonder they have such a low rating. He took two weeks to fix my computer and when i went in to pick it up, he hadn’t even worked on it yet. Then he tried to say i never approved him to fix it but got caught in a lie. so THEN he said he’d give me a discount because it had taken so long and when i picked it up there was no discount. he started saying i was trying to jip him and called me a liar and insulted me and was such a dirtbag. SUCH A SHADY DUDE I’d recommend going anywhere else. NEVER AGAIN YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

I took my computer in when it crashed and when I picked it up the owner, «Faraj» was pointing his finger at me as if I was a small child telling me about the programs. I couldn’t understand why I was being treated that way especially when I was not complaining about anything and waiting for him to tell me what they did. They wiped out all my programs when they re-​installed the cleaning of the virus. A couple of months later I tried using my CD because it took a long time to re-​install my programs and finally got to using my CD drive and the tray wouldn’t open. Faraj stopped me in the middle of my conversation and said «are you accusing me of that?» Well it did work before I brought it in. I took it to another store and they replaced it but they only charged me $ 50 including labor. He wanted to charge me more for replacing it. When I first went there I thought it was a little odd while discussing the computer issues they were leaning with their body weight and their arm on my computer as though it was their personal arm rest. I dismissed it as needless worry but as it turns out it was a sign & precursor to the negligence, incompetence & rudeness that followed.

As an IT professional and former PC Repair Technician I was a little wary of bringing my PC that I built myself into a shop for service. I had a 1 month old baby at home though and didn’t have much free time for tinkering, so I decided to give it a try. Definitely not worth going to WLACS!
I came in to fix a problem with my PC not booting after I installed a memory upgrade and a new video card. I explained to the receptionist and to the tech that I was having trouble getting an HDMI signal out of the new card. The tech assured me he would look into the HDMI problem.
Eventually I got a call that the PC was working fine, and that the tech had never been able to see the problem I reported. I asked over the phone if he had examined the HDMI output and he said he had. I was disappointed that the problem had not been identified, but somewhat glad that the system appeared to be working
When I went in to pick up my system, the owner asked to see me in his office. He wanted me to pay the $ 45 for «diagnosing» my problem (even though they were never able to reproduce or diagnose the original problem), and in addition wanted me to pay an additional $ 50 to disconnect the CPU, memory, and hard drive and then reconnect them. He claims this is a magic fix for undiagnosable problems… yeah right. My BS sensor was going off big time as an IT professional — this is exactly the same sort of scam they use to rip you off Geek Squad.
Also, while we were talking, he admitted that his tech had not actually tested the HDMI port, they whole reason I brought the system in! Before this, I had been reassured at least twice that the HDMI had been verified. Now I found out I had been LIED to!
Anyway, I told him I was not going to pay the additional $ 50, and that frankly, I wasn’t even happy about paying the $ 45. Especially since they had lied about checking the HDMI! He handed me the form where I described the problem with my system and said «Please read this out loud». What? How rude! What kind of way to treat a customer is that? I said «No, I’m not doing that». And he said «Well please show me here where you wrote that the HDMI was not working». And then he LEANS OVER THE DESK AND GLARES AT ME FOR A SOLID 30 SECONDS! I couldn’t believe that we were having a staring contest in the middle of his office! What a rude way to treat your customers! I explained that I didn’t write down everything that I told the front desk.
So he gets the tech and receptionist and asks them in front of me if what I’m saying is true, and to their credit they do back me up. But I ask the tech about why he told me that he tested HDMI and he gives me some BS about it being «the same» as VGA output… well, not really! That was the whole reason I brought the system in! The owner told me to go to the back to look at how they tested the system and sure enough, they don’t even have an HDMI equipped monitor! Why did they tell me they could diagnose an HDMI problem without an HDMI monitor! I think they assumed I was just another clueless user that they could take advantage of.
So, if you want to go to a place where the owner will attempt to intimidate you, will upsell you on needless services, treats you like an idiot to be taken advantage of, and has no sense of customer service, then you may be comfortable here. Otherwise, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

I have an Imac, and unfortunately, my external hard drive died. I took it in to West LA Computer Services, along with a new G-​Raid external hard drive, and they easily transferred the data to the new drive and it was about half of what I would have paid if I’d taken it to the Apple store.
They are very helpful, and have gotten me out of lots of computer jams.
