Crescent Beach Motel

Just a simple motel right on the beach. It’s lovely to have your window open to see and hear the waves crashing right in front of you. Something as simple as their boardwark-​style walkways around the building really sealed in the experience. The room was clean and pleasant. I will certainly stay here again the next time we visit the redwoods.
My only complaint was that their credit card payment system was kind of clunky. It took quite a while for them to get my friends address entered into their credit card system since is not from the U.S.

Good value for a on the beach motel! Very clean, comfortable and basic. Access to beach is wonderful in the morning.

If you are traveling on a budget, this place is the only motel around worth staying at. It is by far one of the cheapest motels. The room was very clean. They obviously put a lot of effort maintaining the property. For a few extra bucks, you can get a room that has a view to the ocean. The location is just out of town. They also have a complimentary breakfast. Oatmeal, fruit and coffee. Great find.

Very friendly service, beautiful spot and views, gorgeous sunsets, simple breakfast of oatmeal and fruit included, and coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the mornings and evenings. It’s old, but clean and well appointed. A decent Roadtrip stop,

So clean! Amazing views, super comfortable! I really can’t believe that this room is only 150 a night! Also seems that tourists stay off the beach in front of the hotel. Almost like a private beach!!!

150 bucks to have an ocean view. Half mile of beach right outside your door. I traveled between Seattle and San Francisco, staying along the coast. This was, by far, the best deal for accommodations I have experienced on my trip. Room was clean. Plenty of towels. Lots of places to eat within walking distance.

Wonderful stay here May 9^th — 11^th, 2015. Friendly staff. Small rooms, but clean and with everything you need. Nice, reliable, free wifi as well.
All the rooms open up in back to a long porch that overlooks a quiet beach and the ocean. The fig rolls in and out over the ridge to the left, the sun sets over Crescent City to the right. The waves roll in all day and night and you are right in the middle of it all. Get a little campfire going on the beach in the evening and watch the sunset.
Also a very short drive (or a very reasonable bike ride) to Redwoods State Park.
I fully expect we will be back — loved it.

Not the most up to date rooms but quaint, clean and comfortable. You can’t beat the beach location if you get a room on the ocean side. You can sit right outside your room on the wooden deck/​boardwalk.

The view is 5 stars, no doubt! Easy beach access and sitting on the porch watching the sunset was beautiful. Bed comfort was a 1 star and paper thin walls also are a 1. We were in an «updated» room, but I’m not sure what that entails. We were in room 19 and you could hear everyone walking in the hallway. Now, not the hotels fault, but the screaming toddler all night with the shared wall… yikes! Also, the people that decided to talk outside loudly all night didn’t help.
With just a few improvements this place could be 5 stars. It is a good price and the location was beautiful.

It’s the only motel that’s actually on the beach, so get a room with a view, fresh paint and very clean and the winter rates I think are very reasonable, okay so the rooms are a little small, your just sleeping anyway and the beach is great for that long walk, would definitely recommend this place

Loved this place. Fell asleep and woke up to the sound of the ocean. It was amazing. Bed was good enough. Recommend this place to everyone. When you call for a reservation, make sure to ask for ocean view since they have other rooms facing the parking lot.

This was a nice comfortable stay. I can’t say it was special or anything, we stayed for one night and it was inhospitable weather so the beach wasn’t really an option but it was warm, comfortable, clean and we slept well. Noise was very minimal.

We stopped here on the first night of our cross country road trip. Staff was friendly and accommodating, and the ocean view was great. They need to update the linens, no phone or fridge in room, but otherwise not bad. Clean enough.

Love this place. Been guests here multiple times and have no complaints. Rooms are spacious, view is amazing, bed is comfortable, bathroom amenities are pleasing, LOVE the Keurig maker in room, breakfast is delicious with variety, and staff is always friendly and professional. This is the only place I stay while visiting Crescent City!

Let’s be honest, you’re looking at this place because you want a beach view from your room. The customer service was nice enough and as others have noted, their breakfast options were pretty limited, but everything was acceptable and the view was breathtaking especially if you sit around on the deck and wait for the sunset with a beer in hand.
The room was pretty standard. Not enough electric outlets, but nothing that unplugging a lamp can’t solve.
My out have direct access to the beach and its about a 15min walk to a couple good restaurants.
Do note that checkin time is 4−10pm.

This was a nice little hotel for the price we did not get an ocean view room but the room was descent. The breakfast in the morning could be updated they have oatmeal and a couple fresh fruits and coffee but the hotel is conveniently located off Highway 101 which is nice. Be warned there is no air conditioning and there are no fans. The temperature is usually pretty nice in Crescent city but I was still a little bit warm in the room they do have a nice big window that you can open in your room. I had to open the window and prop the door open. Overall if you’re looking for an affordable place to stay this is a good place.

We stayed two nights at this quaint little Motel off the 101 in Crescent City. I think if the rooms reflected the price tag a bit more, I’d ‘be tempted to up my rating, but $ 150 a night for what these rooms are, is just too much.
The room featured two queen size beds, a small bathroom and a TV. That was about it. No family style amenities like a fridge, microwave or coffee maker. Not a complete deal breaker, but the dated feel and lack of common items made the stay a bit less than it could have been.
Breakfast is offered in the mornings and consisted of instant oatmeal and some fruit offerings. Most of the fruit was a bit sketchy looking so we didn’t go that route and chose to eat out instead. Adding $ 5 to the room and adding some bagels to the breakfast would go a long way to making that experience a bit better in my mind.
Now that I am done complaining about the room décor and the lack of breakfast options, can I get to the GREAT part… You are literally 25 feet off the beach. Yes, it is an amazing place to be if you are headed to the Trees of Mystery or another northern California Redwoods destination. It’s far enough north that you probably don’t want to push too far south into the redwoods, but for the north end stuff, it is great.
The sandy beach offers beachcombers a chance to find sand dollars, shells, rocks and even some sea life on the beach at low tide. Again, your patio door opens up on a walkway that takes you steps from the beach itself. Bring your chairs and enjoy the mornings on the sand with a cup of coffee from the lobby. It really can’t be beat.
I’m giving the Crescent Beach Motel a 3 star rating instead of 4 because of the aged feel of the rooms and the lack of amenities. I would consider giving it back if the rooms were more in the $ 100 a night range instead of the $ 150 a night range, but they have to make some money somewhere. I’d recommend a stay here for single nighters if you are doing a family trip, or a short stay for beach lovers that want to experience Crescent City’s night life and restaurants. Just remember there’s no fridge for those doggie bags!

I made the reservation and told the desk that it would be two adults and a six year old. I even made a joke when she asked about pets, I said he is six but he won’t chew the furniture. Tonight when checking I told her at the desk that my son was excited about staying on the beach. She then asked how many where going to be in the room. I told her just two adults and my son. She immediately said that it could only be two people in the room because there was only one bed. I told her that he was small enough to sleep with us in the bed. She said that it was regulations that only two people can stay in a room with one bed. She told me that she couldn’t do anything about it and that I would need to stay at another hotel. She told me that she had just had to tell another man the same thing who showed up with his twin 13 year old daughters.
I have never heard of this, it can’t be a law. If it is, we have broken it more than once.
This hotel lost $ 300.00 in revenue tonight and the Anchor Beach Inn, who I will be giving a great review to was the benefactor. Turns out that the guy with the twins checked in there right before we did.

The view from my room was amazing. The sliding glass back door to the room opens up to a VERY short walk to the beach. *heaven*
The bed was comfortable… I slept very well. The temperature was easily regulated. The internet worked well. There was no in room frig or coffee pot. Coffee, hot chocolate and tea were available for free until 9:30pm in the room next to the lobby.
The front desk employees were helpful and friendly.
The room was reasonably priced – about $ 60.
I was able to park just a few steps beyond my front door… great for packing and unpacking the car.

As others have noted, this place is acceptable as long as you’re okay with bare bones simplicity. You pay for the view, but the view can be a very foggy, lonely little stretch of beach depending on when you visit.
All rooms are first level, the motel is laid-​out in a ranch style, and every room has glass sliding doors which open up onto a wood plank deck which runs the length of the motel. Charming at first, but then you realize the people two doors down have obnoxious children who are allowed to play on the deck and who gallop up and down the deck, in front of your room, leaving you with very little privacy unless you close the door and draw the drapes closed… The sound can be deafening and you’re here to enjoy hearing and seeing the ocean, so what’s the point in having such a room if you’re having to keep yourself shut in with drapes. Tip: Stay in one of the end rooms where you’re at least a bit more free from walkers-​by peering into your room.
Rooms are clean but they have no a/​c and no fans, though the front desk provided us with a tiny desk fan which helped a bit.
Parking spaces are directly in front of the rooms so you can at least keep an eye on your vehicle if need be. Not bad for a simple seaside weekend, just don’t expect things like wi-​fi, extra pillows (you get two flat ones) or even somewhat up to date motel furnishings. This is the simple stuff, but the view could make up for it depending on your love of the beach, or lack thereof.
