Best Western Plus Northwoods Inn

Bed Bugs! Need I say more. No less than 50 bites on each of us.

Clean, basic, nothing special. Priced about right for a small town in CA. Our room was clean which is really all we care about. We definitely don’t come to Crescent City for the amazing hotel accommodations, but the beds were averagely comfortable.

Went to get breakfast in the conference room since they no longer have a restaurant, and was immediately forced to get my food within 5 minutes because the cooks did not want to bring out more food for the people, horrible food, horrible attitudes.

Very lovely room. After reading previous reviews, we thought it would be an awful hotel. Positive note, we checked in with a wonderful front desk employee. Gave us a room on first floor, we were impressed. The room was recently renovated with new furniture, paint & carpeting. Very clean, modest. At the end of the day, we are not in our hotel… we’re on vacation to adventure out.
For the price, location and hospitality, we recommend.

We typically have had good luck with Best Westerns but this hotel is in need of a good cleaning. Room smelled musty the minute we walked thru the door. If we hadn’t been so tired from driving all day we might have continued on. The property itself looks nice enough, indoor pool & hot tub as well as a sauna but the room was just nasty. Too bad because you can watch the sun set from the hotel. Although breakfast was good at the restaurant on site.

we had to travel to crescent city from southern oregon for a medical procedure and overnight stay. we selected the best western hotel, because of their consistent quality. this property and room was clean, the coffee in the lobby was fresh and very good.
however, when we return to crescent city for future follow-​ups, we’ll be checking into other lodging. here is why:
in our online reservation i requested a first floor or ADA room if possible. so when we checked in around 2pm, melissa gave us a choice of a first floor room or a 2^nd floor room in the building with no elevator. of course, we selected the first floor room.
soon after we unpacked in room 219, we heard thumping and such a ruckus next door that we went to investigate. it was the hotel laundry room. omg. after about 30 minutes, we tried to use the phone in the room to ask when the washing/​drying would stop. there was no dialtone on the room phone.
hubby called the office on his cell phone and first told the front desk person that the phone was inoperative, she said ok. next he told of the washer or dryer which was seriously off-​balance, causing loud thumping on the shared wall and our floor and room to vibrate. she said the washing would stop somewhere between 4 and 6.
even though the hotel is set back a distance from highway 101, the traffic noise is really loud. i checked the windows to make sure they weren’t open, unfortunately, they were not. they were simply single pane windows.
as we watched television for a couple hours prior to retiring, there were frequent ‘interruptions in service’ from the cable provider… which was just a nuisance and a pain in the butt.
when we checked out i suggested to melissa that they not give room 219 to anyone checking in early while washing or drying was in progress. in a very arrogant tone, she reminded me that she had given us a choice! not remembering that we had requested a first floor or ADA room, and apparently, they had not planned ahead for our arrival. and i also reminded her of the room’s phone being inoperable.

I was hoping for a decent breakfast and the clerk didn’t tell me that the restaurant was closed for renovation. Crappy cereal and toast was available and was a real let-​down. That said, the room was nice. Very clean and comfortable. I’d go back.

We chose this place after walking out of another hotel down the road disgusted and furious with their customer service (we are not that hard to please). We should have gone with our gut by continuing our stays with Best Westerns along the coast, rather than trying to save a buck. Such a great hotel with incredibly friendly staff who helped us with several questions we had about the area throughout our stay. Food in the morning is alright, but so much better than many other continentals you find in hotels these days. …plus, it’s included. Can’t complain! It’s location was quiet and within 20 minutes of the Redwoods. Would stay here again, and at other Best Western Pluses.

If you find yourself desperately searching Unilocal for a decent place to stay in the area and are as discouraged and confused as I was, you might want to read this review.
After hours of driving the coast, we were looking for a place to crash for the night. I didn’t need the Waldorf but I didn’t exactly want to be covered in bugs in the morning. Every hotel in this city has pretty harsh and mixed reviews, so I was starting to get pretty frustrated when I went with my instincts and changed my filter to resd reviews by Elites only. Please don’t take that as me trying to sound superior; I was genuinely distraught. It turned out to be a blessing! Plenty of people get angry and leave a review or like one thing and decided to give a place 5 stars because of it, but most Elites do this because they truely care and want to share a fair and accurate representation of their experience.
Although this location barely manages an overall rating of 2.5 stars, it is deserving of much more. I know that «Best Western» certainly isn’t what I search for if I want a luxurious stay, but this hotel was very nice. The room was remodeled and cute. The beds were comfy and the shower head was fantastic. To those of you who travel often, you know how important a shower head can be! The room was clean and hs everything I needed. There was an indoor pool, spa and sauna. I spent about 30 minutes in the sauna which was nice but the children in the pool had a noise level of 100 which would not allow me to relax. I don’t expect the hotel to soundproof their dry sauna, but just in case they are looking for suggestions…:)
Breakfast is included and is served at the restaurant Northwoods Restauraunt attached to the hotel. It was 3 stars but the servers were all very friendly and for free, who can complain? They also had a place to do laundry and vending machines which came in very helpful. The parking lot could be redesigned, but overall I thought this place was fantastic. Especially sonsidering the other hotels I had read reviews for and ended up driving past! Trust me, for the price, this is the best bet in the area. You won’t be disappointed with your stay.

Front service was prompt and courteous. Our issue was the hotel room we got. The door we got had a broken lock on the top so we only had a single lock. I didn’t like that situation because the hotel rooms are all outside, facing the parking lot and not indoors within the actual hotel building. It didn’t help make me feel comfortable when 5minutes after walking into our room I heard someone jiggling the doorknob trying to open our door. I looked outside our window and they were gone. I like having double locks because sometimes housekeeping will randomly open your door. The room we got was clean but it looked dated.
I don’t think we will stay at this location until they remodel this place.

I stayed at this Best Western on a business trip to Crescent City. I openly admit that I was skeptical upon making my reservation but I was exceptionally pleasantly surprised!
The staff were very friendly both while I was checking-​in and checking-​out the next day. Upon check-​in they gave me restaurant options in town and provided me some great general information.
The wifi worked very well for a free hotel wifi service and I noticed no lags.
Though I chose to order off the menu instead of using the free continental breakfast voucher, the Northwoods restaurant served good food. The service there was a little lacking but the cream cheese/​spinach/​avocado omelet made up for it!
The rooms were the most pleasant surprise of all. They were very modern and clean with good quality products and a very comfortable bed. Overall, I would not have any qualms staying in this location again and would recommend it to anyone traveling through Crescent City.
Yes — they are doing some construction to add a 3^rd floor but I did not hear any construction noise in my room until 8:30am and even then it wasn’t loud at all.

The BEST WESTERN PLUS Northwoods Inn really is a plus. I see there’s some work right now going on outside the building as they’re upgrading but I pay no attention to that as well it’s always nice to see good maintenance taking place and upgrades taking place the lobby was nice clean the people were very helpful very helpful and had a sense of humor and I like that. The room I was in was the normal size and a roomie nice nice bed, nice pillows, refrigerator, the microwave, granite counters in the bathroom. A roomie bathroom I don’t know maybe I got a handicap room but who knows. The table to work on with the computer was just fine the chair working at the computer table was excellent and that is a real plus as some places the chair is the downer of the room, but here it was a big positive. I did like this particular Best Western Plus and I would definitely return here. Good price good value, I like it.

I work graveyard shift and and am here for business. I asked for the quietest room. They put me in a nice room all the way in the back building. So noisy in the morning! Walls are paper thin. You can hear every door close, vacuum cleaner, maids yelling back and forth. Loud, loud loud! Don’t stay here if you need to sleep during the day. It’s also very busy too people are always in an out.

Though centrally located and right across the street from the beach, it is old and outdated. They’re currently adding a third floor to one of the buildings, there are three separate buildings. The only updated feature in the rooms is the television. There are also no elevators. The restaurant where they provide breakfast is severely lacking, the service was great but the food was horrible.
Crescent city lacks quality hotels. The beach is beautiful. I however would not recommend staying here.

Company paid for my stay, so no complaints… Until a baby cockroach showed up crawling on the wall. staff is friendly but it’s inconvenient to go to the lobby to get a ticket for breakfast. The gym is a joke. No real equipment. They stuck me in a handicap room, and the bathroom smells like someone just used it. The pillows are little-​square couch pillows. Although there are some good qualities about this hotel like the Internet, service and it’s right next to the ocean.

This was a good option for our family as we drove through Crescent City. The hotel seems to cater to families.
First, the big reason the place gets 4 stars instead of 3: Indoor pool. This is a really nice perk absent in many California hotels (who try to make do with an outside hotel). It makes travelling with kids so much easier.
The rooms were clean and modern.
Wifi signal was good. I didn’t try streaming any video, but basic browsing seemed snappy.
Breakfast is at a restaurant on the hotel property. I wasn’t too impressed with the quality of it, but compared to a typical best western breakfast, it was good.

Not enough parking, perhaps because the hotel is currently also a construction site. Given wrong room number AND key card, which resulted in disturbing the neighbor. Back in the lobby to correct the situation, apologies were in short supply, with a profusion of excuses. In the room we found two bottles of conditioner but no shampoo, and a hilarious/​disturbing «clean» TV remote.
Every door in the building squeaked, so despite the best will in the world, our polite neighbors could not help but announce their departures. The breakfast eggs were actually pretty good, and hubs liked his pancakes too. But the one bite of ham I had was terrible; I think it had gone off.

The Best Western Northwoods Inn is a nice enough property in Crescent City CA that was in the middle of an expansion project when we visited in late May. We were only there for one night and our room faced the back of the property away from the street (Highway 101) so it was quiet enough as soon as the work crews stopped for the evening and we weren’t in the room all that much anyway.
The important basics were all in place: Very comfy beds, hot showers, wifi and a very nice complimentary breakfast bar available the next morning in the Northwoods Restaurant right across the parking lot. This breakfast was one of the best on our trip with lots of selections to choose from and plenty of room to spread out. Even a waitress to bring our coffee and a booth instead of a table. Lots of fresh fruit, real cooked oatmeal, scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon, etc. made a great start to our day.
The staff was helpful and went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and special. I would be happy to visit again when in Crescent City.

Stayed here in June 2014 during a family vacation to Redwood National Park. I had chosen it based on experience with other Best Western Hotels that included a hot breakfast buffet with the room. Also, the price was right.
The rooms (and rest of the hotel) were dated and could use a refresh. The rooms were clean though. The room had newer TVs but not a HD television signal?!? There aren’t elevators, so we had to carry lots of stuff, including our big ice chest, up the narrow stairway.
The breakfast for this hotel is actually provided by the neighboring Northwoods Restaurant. It was a breakfast buffet with potatoes, scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage links, ham steaks, oatmeal, toast, cereal, fresh fruit, and a variety of juices. Other reviewers are right, the food was pretty blah. No flavor on anything. The only thing that made the eggs edible was the cheddar cheese and salsa available. If it wasn’t free I would have headed next door to The Good Harvest Café.
The hotel has an indoor pool which was also a reason we had chosen the hotel. We ended up not using it. There were about a dozen kids in it and it was full. The weather was nice so we just drive a half mile to Crescent Beach.
The staff were all very polite and friendly.
The best thing about this hotel is that it is close to everything in the northern half if Redwoods National Park. We went hiking in the southern third on one day and it wasn’t more than a 45 minute drive.

Just a couple of a business trip up at this place. I wasn’t impressed.
Pros:
there really is only one good thing going on about this motel. If the front desk staff. Although it is apparent that they are bound by some really rigid corporate rules, they are cheery and go out of their way to be nice to you and provide true service. Couldn’t ask for more in front desk staff. They should be totally proud of the work they do.
Con:
Just about everything else… Maid service was below par and other then making the bed I don’t think they did a single thing in my room in the time I was there.
There was a pervasive bad smell about the place. (and no it wasn’t the harbor just across the street.)

Das BW Northwoods Inn liegt direkt an der stark befahrenen Route 101, am Ortsrand von Crescent City. Dennoch hatten wir Glück und bekamen ein Zimmer, das nach hinten raus gelegen war. Da war es ruhig, zudem war das Zimmer recht ordentlich. Es gibt zwar bessere Best Western-​Hotels, aber wir waren auch hier ganz zufrieden. Frühstück war deutlich über dem Motel-​Durchschnitt, denn es war doch sehr umfangreich. Für eine Nacht auf Durchreise völlig in Ordnung.
