Thomson Air Conditioning

Glen saved me again. Thomson air took care of the initial furnace, AC unit, ducting, Asbestos removal, venting, and thermostat install back in 2013. I need them in 2015 when a coolant line started leaking and Glen fixed it then. Again in 2016, Garden Grove heat reaching 103 degrees, the AC system decided to leak and break and Glen got us sorted within warranty. Everyone should sign up for Thomson’s PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE for twice a year so you don’t end up in an unnecessary sauna.

Just had Ethan and DJ come out and do a maintenance check on our unit and they did a fast and great job! Our refrigerant level was low which meant there was leak and they were able to fix it right away. I thought the price was fair even though I didn’t get another quote. Highly recommend!

I contacted Thomson AC for a quote through Unilocal to hopefully fix a problem I was having with weak AC airflow in my master bedroom. I received a quick response and a good quote. Ethan and DJ came out to my place right on time. Very professional and nice. They got right to work and you could tell they really know what they are doing. Ethan diagnosed and fixed the problem and then changed all my filters. The really great thing was at the end the charge for service was exactly what was quoted. No BS. I am impressed and would definitely use them again.

They told me my capacitor blew which in turn blew up the whole air conditioning unit. They quoted me a price of $ 4,800 to replace it. I decided to get a second opinion from Shawn Lambert HVAC. He agreed the capacitor was shot but said the rest of the unit was fine. He charged me $ 165 to replace the capacitor and my air conditioning is working just fine. Rudy was my service tech. The sad thing is that he had been out to my home a month earlier and he did a great job of adding coolant to it so he built my trust up. Looks like he decided it was now time to go for the big kill. I have the emailed $ 4,800 quote if anyone wants to see it.

We’re pleased with the professionalism & reasonable cost of TAC. Our saleman, Jason, was thorough & knowlegable about different options for our home/​lifestyle. We ultimately decided on the Daikin ductless system. The installation team took care to minimize drywall damage & to insure we had adaquate power supply for the unit. And they were attentive to clean up at end of day. For drywall repairs they recommended Nelson Patch N Match… excellent work. Overall, a fairly stress-​free experience & a great job.

The technician was super friendly and did a great job. There was some miscommunication about how the payment would work out and initially I was a bit upset but when I called their customer service line, they straightened it out right away for us, no hassle. I wanted to share some updates regarding my last post:
The manager had immediately called me back to let me know how apologetic he was about the service. In fact he gave me a full refund, in addition, the technician who serviced us the first time personally came back to redo the repair. They also included this second repair free of charge. Overall, they were able to fix the problem and resolve any issues we had with the AC Unit. The only reason i am unable to give it 5 stars is because upon the 2^nd service call, the technician recommended getting a new AC Unit saying that it had outlived it’s normal period of use; however this was not mentioned or recommended after the 1^st service call when he repaired the capacitors. Knowing that the house sale was pending an inspection, to add this additional memo ended up complicating the situation more than appeasing it. Overall their response and service was great. I had only wished they had told me this the first time around instead of making me do a repair and tell me this afterwards.

I have Daikin 5 ton installed and replace duct work. It was a 3 days project and the project was finished on time. Everything works as specified. The workmanship seems very good. The team on site are courteous and know very well about their jobs. Overall this has been a successful project. I cannot wait to enjoy my new AC in hot summer.

They have installed two units in my house and I’ve been very happy with the work on both. They are super knowledgeable and make complicated situations work (running electrical lines, second story installations, etc.). Jason, who came out for the quote, is super cool. The installers were very polite, professional and clean. I highly recommend them!

Used Thomas A/​C for air conditioning inspection and tune-​up before the summer season. Th technician arrived at the scheduled time and thoroughly checked our furnace and condenser to make sure everything was working properly. The filter we had was not standard so he went and picked up another one for us. He was very knowledgeable and provided us with great tips for maintaining our system.
Overall, great experience with this company. They are professional, friendly, and honest. Will continue to use them for all our HVAC needs.

Jason is the man! Super honest, friendly and Nice!
First off, he called me 1hr before arriving to let me know he was in route. Usually people call only 30 to 15 minutes prior.
When he arrived, he was super honest about letting me know it wouldn’t be worth it for me to pay his company to install such a small job. I could save at least 60% of the cost to just call a Handyman or even more if I installed it myself. He even went above and beyond by showing me which product would work, what it would take and how long it would take to install it. He never tried to sell me on anything.

Thomson Air Conditioning is a first class company with superb customer service, great prices and expert, professional technicians.
We got several bids to install a new A/​C Condenser and Furnace and Thomson’s had the best equipment, warranties and customer service. It was a first class operation from start to finish.
Brandon, the Sales Manager, arrived on time for his appointment and was genuinely interested in our needs and answered all of our questions. His written quote arrived the next day via e-​mail.
On the day of installation Austin notified me that they were on their way and I appreciated the courtesy call. Austin and Alberto did a terrific job installing our new equipment. They worked diligently and tirelessly throughout the process. They were later joined by Danny and Andrew who helped out. All four technicians were professional, knowledgeable, friendly and willing to answer all of our questions.
Before the technicians left, my husband inspected their work and was very impressed with the quality of the craftsmanship, the connections and the work in general. He thought they did an excellent job. When they were finished, they made sure that absolutely everything was cleaned up.
We can’t say enough good things about Thomson Air Conditioning. Thank you Brandon, Austin, Alberto, Danny and Andrew for a fantastic job and great customer service!

Edited to add: I’ve revised my review after having Thomson install our ductless AC. They did a great job once we got over the sales and quote phase. Brandon stepped in was very communicative, coordinated with our electrician, and kept us in the loop. His technicians (Daniel and Doug) did a standout job, even finishing early despite a setback or two. The units themselves are running flawlessly and almost soundlessly. Couldn’t ask for more. Glad to highly recommend them.
Although we’ve had excellent service from Ethan on the heaters for our apartment building, we can’t get a response to emails or voicemails about an AC quote. Jason came out and took a look at our two bedroom unit, and emailed a quote to install a ductless system (in the two bedrooms and living room). But the quote is just a lump sum, without a breakout for parts and labor (and does not include electrical work or pouring a cement slab). Online estimates for the work had us thinking the quote might come in substantially less. But when we politely inquired about the price, we were met with delays and now silence. We’re disappointed, to say the least.

Truly a 5 star experience. If you want honest, trustworthy, professional and responsible service, look no further. These qualities are hard to find in LA but I assure you you’ll find them here.
My job was large and complex and involved coordination with shady roofers and electricians. The guys at Thomson AC did everything in their power to facilitate the best experience possible even in the face of delays and problems caused by other people. I was so glad I hired them and had someone I was working with that I could trust.

Have you ever truly felt comfortable negotiating with a contractor for home repair? Most of the time I feel like I’m being taken advantage of but when I spoke with Thomson A/​C, I can wholeheartedly say that it felt like I was talking with a close friend!
This is a review for just getting a quote for air duct replacement (no services done yet).
My husband and I recently got our furnace checkup with a different company — who told us we needed to replace our air ducts and quoted us for duct replacement for about $ 4000. We don’t know much about HVAC repair so we thought this was just how it is (and for a moment we questioned whether we want to be homeowners anymore lol). That price just didn’t sit well with us so we reached out to Thomson A/​C to price compare. It was a much better (no sales pressure) kind of vibe with them and their price was much more reasonable at about $ 2000!
I spoke with Stella (front desk?) and Tom (office manager?) over the phone, and Brandon (sales manager) came out to do the quote for us. Each one of them was polite, friendly, and patient. I asked a TON of questions, and a lot of it was questions about edumacating myself about HVAC and their industry. Tom and Brandon both took the time to explain technical details as well as help us learn more about our house.
We ultimately decided to delay the air duct replacement until later because we wanted to squeeze more life out of our current ducts, but it was such a pleasure just talking with them I had to write them a review. It is the least I can do for their dedication and hospitality.
If their customer service is this good just during the quote phase, imagine how wonderful they would be when I finally need to get services done. You can be sure we’ll be back when the time comes!

i had a horrible experience with Mike Diamond quoting $ 1000.00 to replace a condensation pump. I should have checked Unilocal prior to calling them. I called them right after and had someone sent out. They replaced the pump at a fraction of the price. They were on-​time — actually called to see if they come a little early.
An hour later, the pump was replaced and at a fraction of the price Mike Diamond would have charged. From the first phone call until they left, everyone was professional and I felt like I could trust them. This company deserves their five star rating and when I have to have more AC work or need to install a new AC or heater, Thomson Air Conditioning will be the first to call.

I chose this company because of the 216 5 star reviews and because of the nice things people have said about them. And now I can see why they have so many 5 star reviews.
Well, from the first call which they answered right away to the wonderful personalities of the gals who answer the phones to the day before reminder call to the wonderful Ethan who came to fix my issues with my furnace, this company is what all companies need to model themselves after. And Ethan was polite, clean and efficient.
I must say, this is the BEST service company I have ever dealt with. And being a stay at home mom I have dealt with a ton of service people. I am the one who has to be home to deal with any issues in our home. But I must say, what a professional company they are. From their cool business cards to their awesome trucks and most importantly their service people.
Thank you Marie for reminding me a day early of the appointment today and Ethan you were awesome and the best service person I have ever known. Great personality too!
Oh and the best part is I had an appointment today between 12 – 3 and they called at 9:20 and asked if they could come earlier like in 30 min. I said YES! So glad I didn’t have to wait all day for 3 hours like most companies make that 3 or 4 hour window and then come at the last 5 min of that time frame.
If you want great professional people and super service call this company. I am one happy customer.

These guys have been great from the start.
We’re doing an addition, and we needed some Heating and A/​C help to see if our current system would handle the new square footage.
Jason, the guy they sent out to do the quote was very friendly and honest about everything we needed done. He told us everything about our current system, and explained why we should replace what we have. He also explained why we could keep our existing system which is something the other guys didn’t do.
Brandon, my main contact has been extraordinary. He was able to schedule our install while we were away in order for us to avoid having no heat for a few nights since in consideration of our one year old.
After the install I had one small issue, and Brandon was able to schedule a tech to come out on the weekend to fix everything with very little notice. The tech, Glenn, was also very helpful with advice for maintaining and getting the most out of our new system.
Overall, I’d certainly recommend these guys to anybody looking for HVAC help.

Dear Thomson Air Conditioning,
My name is Frankie and I’m a puppy, only 8 months old. I’m really smart (see how I can type with my paws) but sometimes I get bored… and when I get bored sometimes I chew things… and when I chew things, sometimes I chew really expensive things like the cables to the air conditioning unit outside.
My Mommy called Thomson Air Conditioning because she had worked with them before for other HVAC issues. She spoke with a really nice lady on the phone who scheduled someone to come out ASAP. They fixed the wiring and it wasn’t nearly as much as my Mommy was convinced it was going to be. –See I told everyone she was over-​reacting when she saw what I did… easy peasy dog-​toy squeezie!
While Thomson Air Conditioning was over, they ended up fixing the heat. Since we live in So Cal where it’s hot on the time, I guess the heat was never turned on so no one knew that it was more broken then any of my toys after I’ve pulled them apart for about 5 minutes. Well, when they were testing the repaired AC wires, they couldn’t turn the heat on and it turned out that the gas was never turned on by the builder! I am not convinced that we’ll need heat in the house since I have this great fur coat, but my Mommy and Daddy seem happy to have it working!
Anyway, it’s nice to be out of the dog house so to speak since the AC unit is all fixed up. Thanks Thomson Air Conditioning!

Unilocal does it again!
I had only to note that Ryan C. himself had reviewed and 5-​starred Thomson Air Conditioning before I picked up the phone. Sweltering in the heat for yet another long day, I again cursed my home’s damned A/​C, crossed my fingers, and called.
Fast forward…
Ethan – a great guy! – called to let us know he’d be arriving earlier than scheduled. (Already, I sensed another 5-​star review in the works!) Anyway, I wanted to learn, to become a little more handy around the house; so I asked Ethan if he’d mind my listening in, looking over his shoulder, taking a few notes and asking a few questions. After all, air conditioning problems may become pricey – very pricey – and knowing the heat had me at a complete disadvantage, I wanted to make sure I’d weighed options, understood clearly as to how this was going impact my wallet and make me sad. But I wasn’t sad, not in the least!
This is what I learned…
Blown capacitors and fuses are the most common reasons for A/​C breakdown. In my case, it was the system’s capacitor (see photos). So if the A/​C is making a humming sound, which it was, but the fan isn’t running, it means the capacitor has failed. (The capacitor stores power, and when this power is released, it jumps the compressor and starts the fan motor. Without this initial boost, nothing.)
The capacitor looks like a small can of soda. If you look at it and the top seems to have «bubbled up,» more than likely it’s gone bad and will have to be replaced. They usually last about five years, and the great news is that they’re a cheap fix. Replacement cost is about $ 50.00. Ethan had everything up and running in minutes, cool air flowing freely! He also checked the filter and replaced it with another we’d purchased earlier. It was dirty. In fact, it should have been replaced sooner – the more blockage in the filter, the more strain on the motor.
I have to say that I was very impressed with Ethan and his professionalism. He’s honest, he’s there to help, and you could see that about him. And because of him and his allowing me to sit in and bother him, I’ll definitely be sending out the word on Thomson. Summer’s here and it’s getting hotter! If A/​C problems are on the rise, cool down and give Thomson A/​C a call. If Marie answers – she’s awesome too, by the way – tell her Unilocal sent you. Then ask for Ethan. Your day will begin to look a whole lot brighter!
