Stopped in to get some info on a rack that I am soon going to purchase. Talked to Jason and Josh about my options. They were filled with very useful information and very were helpful. I will be coming back and giving them my business from now on based on the professionalism and kindness of the employees. Thanks Jason and Josh for your help. I enjoyed the experience and the positive atmosphere so much that I have applied for a position.

I’ve been messaging Jason through Unilocal for about two weeks now because I just wanted to check on a service that I was thinking about doing. Jason has been very professional and helpful through out my experience. I told him that I had a hitch already installed on my car and that I wanted to have wiring done so that I could install a brake light onto the hitch. I asked him about a product that I found on Amazon and he said that he was able to do the wiring for me. I made the appointment and a couple hours later, done! Jason walked me through the install and made sure that it was a clean install and that I would not have to worry about any loose wiring. Very professional! Thanks Jason!

This is the only store that offers the bike rack trade-​in program. I traded my old bike rack for a Yakima RidgeBack 2. I got a decent credit from my old bike rack and I received an extra 10% off as a prior customer. The employee was also nice enough to carry my new bike rack to my car. Great deal and customer service.

Jason was awesome. He was very knowledgeable with all the products. Customer service was on point. Been here several times for our other cars and will continue to come back.

This company knows what they’re doing. I have purchased several racks from them and the service has always been great. They always have a professional attitude and are well informed about their products. They have a variety of bike racks to choose from.

I needed a trailer hitch and wiring harness for my Jetta. I got there right at 10:00, when they open. The guy that helped me said that everything was in stock, the installation technician didn’t have any appointments, and they would need 2 — 2 ½ hours to complete the job. I authorized the work, and left for about 2 hours. When I returned, it looked like the hitch was on, but they hadn’t even started on the wiring yet. I waited another hour and finally asked how much longer. He told me about another ½ hour. So that’s 3 ½ hours for a 2 — 2 ½ hour job, and counting. In ½ hour my car was still up on their rack, so I asked again how much longer. He said another 20 minutes. Exactly 30 minutes later, my car was finally done. So they took 4 hours to complete a 2 — 2 ½ hour job. The only reason anybody updated me on timing was because I specifically asked.
I am in customer service myself, and I’ve always said to under promise and over deliver. This was simply bad customer service.
I had another appointment that I needed to make at 2:30 that day. Had they been done on time, I would have had time to spare, but because they took almost twice as long as they had first told me, I was barely able to make my other appointment.
What should have been a leisurely experience became a very stressful day for me.
In the end, I am happy with the install. That’s why I gave 2 stars, but their customer service failed that day. Someone should have kept me updated on why and how much longer this would take.

These guys are amazing. Ordered my rack and cargo basket online so they could be prepared for the install. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. They are very knowledgeable, courteous and helpful.

I can’t thank Jason and his crew enough for taking care of me here at Rack n Road! I totally trust transporting my SUP race board because of their superior products and installation. Highly recommended!

What an absolutely incredibley positive experience. I needed all sorts of stuff for my Thule and Yakima bike racks as well as a new hitch and they went above and beyond in every way possible. Super friendly!!! Oscar was awesome. Please support this shop as I know I will for all my needs!!!

This is the only shop in town that was able to install a hitch on my BMW X5 2014 without having to trim my bumper and bank account! The install was done in professionally and in a timely manner. Make sure to check out their equipment inventory too!

I really wanted to like this place. All seemed great until I got a quote to install a hitch. I was quoted over $ 150 to do an install for a hitch almost everyone says will take about 30 minutes to install. This works out to about $ 300/​hr.
They must have incredibly well paid mechanics who usually are working on Ferraris or Lambos. I had picked this one hitch as it was supposed to be an easy install and Rack N Road was listed as an authorized installer.
So as much as i wanted to do business with them, their is obviously an issue with their shop labor rate must be higher than what I pay to get my MB serviced. Either that or they were trying to take advantage of me but that would be pure speculation.

I appreciate R n R reaching out to me but that ship has sailed. If the follow-​up had been more prompt (not almost 6 months later) they might have kept me as a customer. As it was, I bought a hitch and installed it myself.
Took me about 30 minutes in a parking lot to do. I had no wiring requirement (as I told them when I brought the car in originally). It was about 4 bolts for the install I spent more time rustproofing a tab I had to bend which caused the paint to flake a bit. I expected this and had some primer and paint to take care of this. I did it right and didn’t rush. I now have even less respect for R&R. So my original guess of about 30 minutes was accurate and that was without the benefit of a lift and a fully stocked shop.
I basically bought some tools at Harbor Freight just to do the install, maybe a total of $ 20 worth. Even if I never use them again, I came out way ahead. I kept $ 130 in my pocket, took care of an area that I am not sure if they would have painted again to rustproof it (no way to avoid it on the install) and spent 30 minutes of my time.
So I guess my shop labor rate isn’t $ 300/​hr like theirs but just $ 260. Maybe not a venture capitalist’s hourly wage but comparable to a good attorney in LA. I am glad other people had good experiences here. I didn’t and definitely won’t be back which is unfortunate as I had such high hopes.

I needed a rack for my SUP. I lease a Ford Edge and I am 5’4″ on a good day. All of these topics were dealt with with professionalism and ease. These guys know how to solve every problem I put in front of them! Great service selling me the various pieces needed, and speedy installation. Then they took the time to show me all the ins and outs of loading, and unloading, as well as warning me that my automatic car wash days are over!
I generally try to be a do it herself-​er, but this project is definitely one that I am glad I handed over to professionals! Losing a board on the highway is not an option for me.

Josh over the phone consultation. After hours support line guidance on hours and service. Jason in person– all rock solid. Took my Jeep allllllll the way from Phoenix to OC for roof rack system custom to my vehicle. Added Whispar and Thule and Inno components for my SUP and paddle and MTB. Very satisfied as this shop delivers high quality service and workmanship. Wish we had one in AZ, but drive was worth it. I called it the cannonball run to my buddies. 20 hrs later home in bed sleeping well knowing what is on my Renegade.
You won’t regret it.

I have nothing but praise for this place! They came highly recommened by a manufacture’s rep and also by their competitiors! I spent an easy 2 hours in the shop asking Jason a ton of questions and he was extremely informative, patient, and veryful helpful! I purchased a Thule AeroBlade Roof Rack System and will be coming back to purchase more from them! This place is the real deal!!!

Wow! Do you long to get you surfboard to the beach with style and ease, but don’t have a SUV or pickup truck? Well let me tell you, Rack N’ Road is a dream come true!
For one, long, painful year I loaded my 9 foot stick on my Camry with a soft top rack … yes, the soft top ones with the confusing D loop straps that would take 45 minutes to an hour to straighten out and you’d still be praying the board wouldn’t fly off and hit the vehicle behind you head on through their windshield! One time in route to San Onofre, I pulled over 4 times to readjust because the straps were coming undone and it sounded like a terrential storm was coming down on top of my car! I mean, how do you get to dawn patrol if you spend the first hour of your day loading your gear up? Finally, I had had enough.
I went on Unilocal and found Rack N’ Road in Costa Mesa. I stopped in and Oscar answered all my questions and recommended the Inno brand roof rack which would fit my car make, year and model! We set up an appointment for the install for the next weekend. It took them only an hour to install. I am overjoyed. The car rack is so easy to use. It takes me 3 minutes max to secure my board. It’s so quiet that I doesn’t even feel or sound like there’s a 9 foot fiberglass board afixed to the roof. I took my beautiful board up to Ventura 90 miles away and was even passing people going 80 on the 405! Wow! If only I had known about these «real» surf racks those painful months earlier. Thank you, Rack N’ Road for the awesome job! I’m ecstatic!

These guys were awesome, had everything I needed in-​stock and knocked out a roof rack install on my car in record time, even though I showed up just as they were closing.

If you need a hitch installed, or if you want to buy a rack for your car, Rack N Road is a one-​stop spot to get it done. I recently bought a new car (new for me) and wanted to get a hitch installed. They did not have it in stock, but ordered it and made an appointment for me to get it installed. I was in for a Saturday afternoon appointment for the installation, and it was all done in less than a week with only 2 hours of my time spent at the store.
Now I just need to figure out what rack I want.

Jason and the guys here are great.
Solid pricing. They know their stuff and are super helpful. I’ve bought a Thule rack, hitch, and Tepui car tent from them and, in each case, they’ve done a great job explaining how everything work. Particularly with the tent, which I would have never figured out without their help.
Apparently, they’ve also got a great rental program for car top gear, which I’ve never used.
