La Taberna Giralda

Great place for tapas and wines. They have an excellent show and periodic events that are worth checking out.

They advertise a flamenco show on Thursday and Saturday. We called and made reservations for show. We asked three times about show while we were there and they said there was a show. It was not until we finished our meal and we asked again that’s when they said show was canceled. We were very disappointed since we drove quite a bit to get there. We felt they were rushing us with getting our food order in, of course now we understand it was because show was cancelled. The worst part was they was that they were deceitful about the show. Food was average for Spanish food.

This place is just ok. Frankly your not missing anything if you pass on it. Service is a bit forced, with subtle hints to order a lot. Service was a little too fake for my taste and obviously to an observant diner very unprofessional. They had no clue on what to do with several plates on the table, so they dumped both tortilla orders on one plate right on top of the aioli. And it took two waitresses to accomplish that mess. They kept constantly wanting to pack things up to go way before we were done with tapas. For Dinner my friends salmon dish was inedible. An ugly bright pink color with no taste. The table bread was of the frozen re-​heated kind. Olive oil on table was ok (hojiblanca type with moderate grass tones) but no vinegar anywhere.
My dish of rice with gambas tasted good BUT was only rice with pieces of shrimp. No gambas anywhere, gambas being the larger head on crustacean similar to shrimp. Oh and the pieces were very very small. Taste was ok but for 18USD the amount and presentation of seafood was grossly overpriced. In fact over all main dishes were overpriced for what you got, Tapas seem to be priced ok though. Generally dinner items were in high twenty’s to thirties price and LOW on amount and so so on quality.
The Flamenco show was bad. They played bamboleo by the gypsy kings three times. Only one table made a request and many other songs played twice giving the impression of lack of talent or selection. The musicians were hideous and the female flamenco dancer was a minor of maybe 12 years old. Typical in some parts of southern Spain BUT quasi legal here. Sangria made with 7-​up. Noise level way to high, no talking possible and every now and then annoying pitch sounds blared out from a seemingly old and tortured sound system.
went on a Thursday evening, place never filed up to more then half capacity. Reservations were asked for but not needed.
Sorry but not worth a return but perhaps for tapas on a non music night could serve as a good choice.

Great atmosphere, appetizers, wines selection and food. It is very authentic Spanish food plus the area and the inside was very well planned along with the décor. The service was excellent all tables were well taken care of. It has a bar with food service plus good selection of beers from Spain. It can accommodate from a party of one at the bar to when we visited they had a large party of about twelve. I recommend this place for a great time.

One of my new favorite spots. Small and warm but a lot of energy fills the place, especially once the flamenco began. Singer/​guitarist was very talented and was cheered after each song. All the food was fresh and came out warm. Amazing smells that fill the restaurant as each dish is brought out. Also, the selection of Spanish wines, cheeses, and meats is second to none. To top it all off, our waitress was one of the best I’ve ever had. There’s no way you can go wrong here. A must try!

This place was terrible, the service was bad because, we had to wait for the waiter to give us water, manu for 45 minutes. The paella was fishy didn’t taste good that’s not what a paella is supposed to be. They had outside a three course manu for $ 13.95 that they didn’t have it available for dinner. I asked for water and they charged me $ 4.50 I never even asked for bottle water they never gave me the choice all i wanted was tap water. I will not go back to that place

Delicious food, good portions, and executive menu is cheap and really good. Many choices to pick.

Always a pleasant experience. Thanks to Jordi and his staff, we enjoyed excellent service, delicious food (try the eggplant drizzled with honey!) and even some impromptu standup comedy by Jordi himself. We were a group of 20 celebrating my birthday, sat outside and enjoyed the crisp weather in the quaint courtyard. It felt like we had the place to ourselves! Even the best restaurants slip wen it comes to big groups, but not this place. They even got the bill-​splitting right! I have a feeling we will be regulars at this place.

When i walked in this place I was like Whoa!!! So authentic, you are transmitted to Spain. I randomly came for dinner with my aunt who was visiting from New York. I’ve walked by it several times and Giralda in general is one of my favorite streets in Coral Gables. To our surprise its the nest night of the week to go to Taberna Giralda, Thursday nights!
There is a $ 5.00 cover which is well worth it. We ordered a few tapas which were delicious particularly the mahi mahi, nice glass of champagne and to our surprise a few minutes later in the small back stage appeared musicians and performers.
Absolutely spectacular! It felt like I was in the Performing Arts Center Flamenco Festival. The music, singers, dancer was great. They would bring people up to participate. People of all ages dancing up front. it was so lively and great to watch.
If you enjoy tapas, wine live music this place Thursday nights is perfect!

Delicious! First meal in Miami after a plane, train, and bus. Had the toasted rustic bread with serrano ham and pear jam as an app and shared paella for the entrée. Hands down best paella. Topped off with an espresso and I’m off to explore.

The service was excellent, I would say I bit too forced, though. We felt like we were watched over too much. The food was OK. Needs better seasoning and more flavor and I think they are pretty aware of this so they try to make it up with the service which is always a good thing. They said they have live music on Thursdays and Saturdays at 8:30pm but I personally don’t want to go back.

This place was pretty good! We wanted some tapas as we had just back from a trip to Spain and found this restaurant through Unilocal.The service was great. We had waiters which were helpful and explained the items on the menu and daily specials with detail.
We started with a pitcher of Sangria which was great! The garbanzos fritos and gambas al ajillo (shrimp with garlic) were delicious! The croquetas were okay.
We’re definitely going to come back to try other menu items and order their Sangria again!

This place is the real deal with good Spanish food and an ample wine menu. The service was friendly and attentive. The owner was phenomenal. He gave us great recommendations and even walked us out with umbrellas because a storm had crept in as we finished our meal. The paella was above average. A little under salted but otherwise tasty with ample and fresh seafood. We started with the ham croquetas and the adobo, a breaded mahi that marinates over night. Both were quite good but the adobo was unique and memorable. Mondays, Tuesdays and wednesdays feature half off wine selections. And Thursdays the restaurant features live music and flamenco, which we will be back for.

I called the restaurant because I was in a hurry and needed take out– so im just talking about their restaurant week menu. what a disaster!
I had the croquetas which were the highlight and then I had what they said was lomo but tasted more like burned and dry chicken.
I had to ask for my dessert that came included and they didn’t even give me choices. And for a takeout lunch, no napkins or utensils.
Will not be returning.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience here for dinner. They have a cute patio in the back where you can sit outside in a comfortable environment. Our waiter Jordi was friendly and made us feel like we were back in Spain. Of the food we tried, some of the highlights included the arroz cremoso de sepia, the morcilla and the pimientos rellenos de rabo de toro. They have flamenco on Saturday nights at 8:30 as well. Excellent choice for Spanish cuisine in the Gables!

Came by to try it out after my hair appointment across the way and I was pleasantly surprised! There’s a lovely patio towards the back with lights around trees.
Definitely try the paella that is light and delicious! The eggplant with honey is the perfect appetizer with the seafood medley and a sangria. They have a simple menu but everything is made to order and fresh! Definitely don’t come for fast food. Take your time to enjoy the music, people and great conversations with the waiters.
They have live flamenco music and dancers on Thursday and Saturday evenings so be sure to call to reserve your table since it does get very busy. This place is a gem in Coral Gables with reasonable prices for the quality of food and service!

Pleasant surprise with good food and even better entertainment!
Located in the Gables, this quaint Spanish restaurant offers delicious tapas, sweet yet potent sangria, and a Flamenco show which rivals something you would see at the Adrienne Arsht center.
Maybe stating the Adrienne Arsht center is taking a bit too far… but I not by much. You can tell the performers here just LOVE their art. They are basically singing and dancing simply as an expression of their culture and they are NOT doing it because they are getting paid for it.
The food is very reasonably priced, especially since you get a free Flamenco show with your meal.
We came here for my mother’s birthday and we had a fantastic time! Since I told them it was my mom’s special day, they started singing Happy Birthday, brought her to the stage, and even had her chug wine from a bota bag! They also provided a flan free of charge and everybody at the place congratulated her. Now THAT was customer service.
The food is not the BEST I have had, but it is pretty good. If this place had ANYTHING to improve on, it would be the food. But that is just me being EXTREMELY picky because it was VERY delicious.
I will definitely be returning to this place, especially because of the superior customer service.

I found La Taberna Giralda out of luck while walking Coral Gables on a Saturday evening. Attacked by hunger and interested in trying a new place, I opened the Unilocal app and browsed nearby Restaurants. Lo-​and-​behold, we were eating here. I had this placed bookmarked since who knows when.
Reservations are highly recommended and also the standard. Since I didn’t have one, we sat in the bar. It was fun. Our meal started with sangria and croquetas, followed with Paella for two. The croquetas — jamon Serrano and cheese –were amazing: crispy outer and creamy inside. One of the best I’ve eaten. As a croqueta lover, I recommend this without hesitation.
The paella was great for two people. Like we say in Dominican Republic, it was «bien surtida» with seafood and shellfish (shrimps, prawns, mussels, cuttlefish, squid, and clams). My favorite part is when rice sticks to the bottom. So much flavor there, so save it for last.
We didn’t leave room for dessert, but other reviews raved about crema catalana. I’ll have to come back and try it myself.
PS: Saturday is flamenco night so come prepared to enjoy the show!
