Guadalajara is the best Mexican food that you will find in the concord area! The service is fast and very friendly. Anything you order tastes great but a personal favorite is the tamales, the owners wife’s recipe.

My family and I recently attended a bon voyage dinner for an old friend prior to her moving out of the state, at the Guadalajara Grill… and I was not terribly impressed. Granted, my lovely wife was born and raised in southern Mexico, so I am probably a bit spoiled when it comes to authentic Mexican cooking, but when I order a standard combination plate consisting of a chile relleno, cheese enchilada, beans and rice that is not very good and extremely salty… there is a disconnect somewhere! The only thing I found appealing was the chips and salsa…

A large group went in after graduation at the Concord Pavilion on Friday, June 10th. The waiter refused to allow our small table of 5 to order separately and have a separate check from the larger group sitting at an overcrowded banquet table. When we asked to speak to the Manager, he said he was the Manager. So not only was he not willing to work with us, he picked up the chips and Salsa right from under our noses and basically encouraged us to walk out. Needless to say we won’t be back. Too bad for this restaurant because the school district provides a lot of business for this restaurant. Word is out… I hope they go under. This was a U-Tube moment, but we were too stunned to film the rudeness as it was happening.

We’d give it no stars if we could. Joined a group of about 40 colleagues for an after graduation get together. When the waiter came to take our order, we asked for a separate check. Waiter said he couldn’t do that. We insisted because we were sitting at a separate table that we would prefer a separate tab. When we asked again for a separate check he picked up the chips and salsa and refused us service. Much to everyone’s surprise we left, vowing never to return to Guadalajara again. The five of us went instead to round table and had a pizza on a separate tab. The waiter claimed to be the manager and if this is an indication of the level of service I’m glad we didn’t stay. With customer service like this I am surprised they are still open.

TERRIBLETERRIBLE service. Couldn’t get past the RUDE host for a table for 4. Clayton Valley Little League team came to celebrate their championship victory here last night and the host would not accommodate us. We made requests to sit separately in the patio so each family can have their own tables since the choice was to sit either as a group and have one check or don’t eat here at all since they would not issue separate checks. We said no problem since one check among 30 people would be a little difficult how about just seating us in separate tables out in the patio since it is empty, at least we are all together. NOPE. we were told. Okay forget sitting together as a group. How about just my family away from the group, a separate table for 4. NOPE! You’re kidding right? You’re refusing to now sit my family separate from the large group so we can just have dinner and leave since it’s a little late and a school night? You can read from the other reviews about the horrible service so it wasn’t just us. The food is average as I ate here only once before and never really got excited to come back. We only came here because the team wanted to come here and it was close proximity to CVCHS where we played our game. Bottom line, they just literally turned away about 30 or so happy and LOCAL Clayton Valley Little League Parents and players! It’s a wonder how this place survives!

HORRIBLEHORRIBLESERVICE. Were not greeted properly at ALL. Host was abrupt at best… nasty actually. Wait staff was annoyed by our very presence. They missed items in our order and when we would ask for something they would turn their backs and answer under their breath. When they finally brought us what we asked for, he put it down and said, «Ok??» Do NOT eat here. Plenty of other awesome Mexican spots. This place is the WORST.

If you can get anyone to pay attention to you, this could be an amazing restaurant. We have given them many, many chances to improve the customer experience to meet the level of the food, which is fresh and flavorful. That is, of course if you ever get it. They are always understaffed, Monday lunch or Friday night the same faces are there running back and forth, only by raising a hand and shouting out can we get more than a bowl of salsa and chips. Dishes are returned cold or containing ingredients clearly asked to be excluded… but the rush of «hot plate! Hot plate!» Is replaced with«excuse me, sir, this is cold and wrong.» I just finished my chimichanga here at home after having to send it back twice after having to flag down a waiter just for water after 14 minutes at our table. As we left, finding no one to voice our concerns to, a man came in wondering why no one answered the phone to take his to go order. I think he left without ordering. Goodbye Guadalajara Grill. You were delicious when you tried… which was never even the slightest.

We are so so tired of hoping this once traditional restaurant for our family is going to get better. We used to come here ALL the time. It’s less and less lately. Tonight it was for my dads 66th birthday. The service now is HORRIBLE. They are understaffed, and tonight, After an elderly person collapsed in their restaurant(which then my husband and brother both off-duty police officers) ran to her aid, called 911. Their staff did NOTHING to help. Nothing. They didn’t even come over. On top of it I heard one of the waiters call the elderly woman a vulgar name in Spanish as he walked by! I’m assuming he didn’t know I spoke Spanish(which I do.) So after the local fire department and ambulance came(which was remarkable time I may add) my husband and brother came back to the table just to find that they LOST our entire 10 person dinner order. He had to take them all over again. By this time we’d been there 35 min or so. We got our food about 20 min later, it was«okay». We got the bill. Full charge for EVERYTHING. We also will be checking out bill as my mom warned me the last couple times they had come, they were double charged.. Yikes!!! You can bet we will be keeping our eyes open. My brother and one of my sons had a rash and hives right after eating tonight. Neither have allergies. So that’s strange. Three of our group of 10 had stomach aches. Years ago this restaurant was the coolest, hole in the wall place where the waiters had a blast yelling«hot plate !! Hot plate!!!» Now you’re lucky if you can get them to give you a refill of your drink and remember your dinner order! I hope they turn this place back around. It was once my favorite place to go with the fam. Now it’s a last resort.

Never again! Horrible service! Way under staffed to say the least! Found a long black hair in my burrito, my grandma’s taco was completely soggy she couldn’t even pick it up, my mom’s Flan tasted like onions. We were a complete inconvenience for asking for water and our check. Never again! Plenty of other great Mexican restaurants in the area.

I hadn’t come here in 10 years and now I know why, food still bad and service even worse. Only Mexican restaurant in history that doesn’t give you refills on chips. Place is a joke!

It has been a very long time since I’ve been to Guadalajara. You’ll excuse me for being nostalgic but it seems just like yesterday that this little place was a hidden little place in the shopping center. Anyway, came in with the family and we all ordered. Service was very prompt and the food came out fast. Everything looked good, came out hot and portions were big. I had ordered the fish tacos to see how they compare to the ones I’m used to in San Diego. Again, they were big, but they weren’t like the ones I’m traditionally used to. I’ll chalk it up to their interpretation to them I guess. Still, not a bad experience. Left satisfied for sure. Oh, you can’t exit through the patio. Even though there’s a sign that says«Exit». Yeah, it was confusing.

This place went downhill fast in the past year that I have gone there. I have had pretty decent experiences and outright terrible experiences, but nothing compared to my last one. I decided to try my luck on their fish tacos. By far the worst I’ve had, but I was hungry and in full blown denial of the situation I faced. I thought, «Sure, this over-fried, painfully crunchy fish spear in my taco tastes fishy in the bad way; but just slather some guacamole on it and hope for the best. Everything will be fine.» Everything was not fine. By the time I finished I knew this was a mistake. Flash forward to 4am and I am awoken mid sleep to run and puke my guts out. I was sick for the next 48 hours with a stomach virus that only bad fish tacos can induce. Steer clear of this place, they don’t deserve our business.

You will not see any Mexican or any other Hispanic race eating here for a reason. The staff doesn’t eat from here either. I suggest you keep driving and don’t stop until you get further into Concord. The costumer service is great and the restaurant is clean. PLEANT of close parking and we were even seated with in second. That’s because any body that knows what a decent Mexican restaurant food should taste like will never eat here again. Did I mention lots of seating to choose from. LOTS!

I have been a loyal customer for over 30 years. Loved the service over the years. Great waiters and a fun experience. I recently had an over charge on a bill of an item i have gotten for the last 4 to 5. It was only $ 4.45 over and i questioned the price. They said it could not be refunded. I then talked to the owner. He said it could not be refunded. Went in about a month later with my 4 year old son and were not being served. We were then asked to leave by the owner and to never come back. To say the least my boy was pretty upset…

I found a cockroach roasted into my to go burrito. I specifically asked to make sure the chile relleno burrito was vegetarian and it comes with meat! Bullshit! I liked the chips and salsa!

This place is so gross. I walked in and it instantly smelled like death mixed with old sweaty socks in a vat full of rat feces and pigeon barf. It was horrid and inescapable. I could hear someone in the kitchen hocking a loogie — it took him three solid sessions of hocking that thing up before he was finally done. Mixing tools turned on immediately after and there was no reassurance that he wasn’t spitting in the food/sauce whatever. I’ve never called the health department on any restaurant, but holy tacos this seems like ah excellent place to start. I had already ordered my food by the time I heard Loogie McHocker so it was too late and I didn’t want to cause a scene or be rude. Ultimately, I couldn’t finish my food because the restaurant smell was so putrid that my food began to taste like it. I paid and left. The only redeeming quality is that the waiter was so friendly and attentive and kind. I hope he escapes that job before that awful smell invades his pores and takes over. I will not eat here again and in the event that I’m with a party that wants to, I will wait outside or go anywhere else. I can’t see why anyone eats here to be honest.

Come for the fast service, stay for the sangria. It’s not gourmet, it’s where you go when you’re in a hurry/need to eat up without a drive thru. In answer to an earlier post, you do pay at the front podium. The owner has never pitched a fit around us and we’ve been there a lot. Every few months I get a craving for their rice and we drop in. My kids love it there(ages 9 – 20).

The good thing about this place is that they have decent customer service. We were seated very quickly, and we were checked on the entire time. There comes a point when good customer service can become a little too much, like when you fill up my water glass after I have taken two sips from it. The chips and salsa was very good and homemade. The salsa had quite a kick to it, which of course made me crave it even more. I was thinking about ordering a side of guacamole to go with the chips as well, but after tasting some that came with my entrée plate I realized I made the right choice. It literally had no flavor to it at all, which is disappointing. You don’t treat guacamole that way. For my entrée I ordered the La «Barbie» cue. Essentially it’s a quesadilla filled with chicken, cheese, and onions, then a hefty drizzle of barbecue sauce covers the top. It comes with a side of guacamole and sour cream. A pretty good quesadilla and I love the addition of the barbecue sauce. Eating it with a fork is a new one for me, since I couldn’t pick it up and eat it without making a mess. I ordered a Bloody Mary that was good. The consistency was almost like that of a Slushee; however the flavor of the drink itself was spot on. With pretty average food and decent service I would definitely be willing to come back in the future. Please for the love of god though work on your guacamole.

Went here twice while I was home with my family. I was surprised to find such good Mexican food in Concord/Clayton area. The inside is nothing special but the food is pretty good. The first time I went I had the California burrito which was yummy and the second time I went I had the carne asada tacos. If you order any of the taco plates you will have more than enough food! The food was pretty good however, the spice to the food was lacking. They had some hot sauce on the table but it was a generic brand that you find at the store. I guess I have been lucky previously living in San Diego where Mexican food is superb and they make their own salsa’s. Guadalajara seems to get pretty busy which is a good sign, yea? I will give it 4 stars given the area it is in with the lack of Mexican food but 3.5 compared to other places I have eaten at.

I have ever no idea why this place only has a few stars, but every time I’ve come here the food & service have ALWAYS been nothing short of awesome & delicious! The fish tacos are huge, tasty, come with a side of lime & I always add guacamole to them. they also include ride & beans with chips(a generous sized bag for take-out orders too!), a d I always order everything without cheese. And they’ve never messed up my order, ever! Even the service when I dine in is fast & awesome!
