Description

Specialties

From as early as age 3 through high school, Kumon Math and Reading Programs are designed to advance any child’s comprehension and appreciation for learning, and give them an advantage in school, and beyond. The Kumon Method has helped over 3 million kids worldwide advance their learning, and it can work for your child.

Unlike other learning programs, Kumon helps students actively develop critical, self-learning skills. The individualized program of worksheets, carefully planned by the instructors, is the key. Each worksheet is incrementally more advanced than the previous one so students fully grasp new concepts before moving on. Daily assignments take about 30 minutes to complete, in two sessions a week at our Kumon Math and Reading Center of Concord — Clayton Valley, and the other five at home.

When you enroll, a Kumon Instructor will assess the ideal starting point for your child with a free placement test. If your child’s fallen a bit behind in school, Kumon can help him or her catch up and even surpass the class. But the real value of Kumon is the academic advantage we can help your child build over time — many Kumon kids study above grade level.

History

Established in 1954.

Kumon was established in 1954 in Japan by a math teacher named Toru Kumon who wanted his son Takeshi to develop a love of learning, and be prepared for his rigorous high school and college entrance exams. When other parents saw Takeshi’s progress and wanted the same for their kids, the Kumon Method was born.
