Midas

October ²⁴⁄₂₀₁₅ I took my 1997 Nissan Altima to Midas at 5559 N. High Street 614−846−0440 for a oil change. I waited while the work was finished.
When finished they drove the car from the bay that they used to change the oil and replace the filter. I drove the car home approx 1 mile and noticed the check oil light came on. I figured it was because of the oil change and oil pressure had not been brought up to standards.
Sunday morning I started the car and drove it from my home on E. Lincoln Ave to Indianola Ave., when I noticed the check oil light came on. I turned around and drove back home. I pulled the car into the driveway and checked the oil. By the dip stick there was no oil in the motor. I pored 2 quarts into the motor and noticed it was running all over the drive way. I jacked the car up and could not see where it was coming from. I then pored a half quart of tracer oil, (red in color) that I use for checking oil leaks if there is one and it also ran onto the drive way.
Unable to find a leak, I called AAA to have it towed to Mr. Tire on N. High Street. After the car was unloaded from the tow truck I drove it into the shop where I watched as I stood beside the car as it was lifted up in the air. I walked under it and noticed there was no oil filter on the motor.

I had Mr. Tire install a new filter and put oil in the motor.
When I returned to Midas Monday morning the manager in charge said he remembers installing the oil filter, then re counted that one of the employees installed the oil filter and he watched. He also stated that all this work was filmed with a video camera. When I asked for a copy or to look at the tape he hesitated and said he would have to find it. I called Monday and the same answer. Called several times since no film

Called in to see if I could get an oil change and was told if I came in before their 3:00 appointment I wouldn’t have a problem getting in and out. I popped in immediately and was told I would be there for 40 minutes to an hour! The manager came back in several minutes later to tell me it was the new guy who told me the wrong time, and if I wanted purely an oil change and no inspection it would be 10 minutes tops. Yet I’m still paying close the $ 30? Cute. I didn’t even get a window cling.
FYI, just because I’m a girl, doesn’t mean i deserve to be treated like I don’t understand cars. So thanks for that experience.

Saturday was my first visit to this Midas location. I was on my way to an oil change appointment when I hit a curb and destroyed my wheel. Chris was very helpful and friendly. He searched for surrounding locations that had my wheel and two tires in stock and he picked them up and finished my car quickly.

Went in for an oil change today because I had a coupon — they said they had looked at my power steering fluid and it was low.
My car has electric-​assisted power steering, involving no fluid whatsoever.
This happened to me at the same location once before, a year or two ago.
The guy in charge apologized in a joking manner, blaming the mechanic, so automatically and insincerely that it must not have been an out-​of-​the-​ordinary occurrence. I don’t appreciate going in for a routine service, getting the jokey-​flirt routine the whole time I’m there, and feeling like I have to bring my husband in (who’s no car buff either) so no one tries to pull a fast one on me.

NEVER AGAIN! If there were a lower rating then poor this Midas would earn it. Overpriced and have no problem lying to you! Twice I have had my car taken there because in the past Midas has been reliable at other locations. The first time I had my car towed there they quoted me a price that was three times more than the dealer quoted! A DEALER (I called around to make sure I wasn’t getting a bad deal, as the guy I talked to on the phone couldn’t tell me a quote without fumbling on it. I am glad I did!) I told them that I was taking it somewhere else and the price I was quoted and they sang a new tune. They would do it 10 dollars less than the others! The second time (because I apparently wanted to have too much faith in people) they quoted me 300 dollars more than the dealer, and other places in town. I had it towed to a AAA.
Midas took apart my car to check everything and didn’t put it back together. AND TO TOP IT OFF THEY UNPLUGGED MY WINDOWS! A few months later when I had my shocks replaced (Not at Midas) they went to fix the windows and found them unplugged! The guy was baffled ANYONE would do that.
