One Week Free! Come in and check out Ground Control. We are the largest and most recognized mixed martial arts academy in Maryland. We teach MMA, Brazilian jiu-​jitsu, muay thai and boxing. We welcome students of every skill level, from children and beginners to advanced adults. We have a comprehensive schedule of classes and also offer private instruction. History

Established in 1998.

We started our team in 1998 in Baltimore City. We now have 4 locations in the Baltimore Metropolitan area. Baltimore, Belair, Columbia, and Owings Mills

Meet the Manager

Rocky M.

Manager

Rocky has been involved in Martial Arts most of his life. He began training in Brazilian Jiu-​Jitsu in 1997 after watching how effectively Royce Gracie used Jiu-​Jitsu in the first Ultimate Fighting Championships. Rocky trained at Renzo Gracie’s academy in New York. There he had the opportunity to train with Renzo Gracie, Sean Alvarez, Matt Serra, Ricardo Almeida, Rodrigo Gracie and many other word class fighters. In 2006 Renzo promoted Rocky to Brown Belt after a close contest and a double overtime with a well known Renzo Black Belt during Renzo’s in house tournament that would decide who represented his academy in the Abu Daubi trials. In 2008 Rocky was promoted to Black Belt.
