Came here with my husband and we really enjoyed it. We got two broths, the house social and the veggie with mild heat. Both were really good, slightly salty but overall I was really impressed. I’ve never been to a hot pot set up like this before. Self serve is pretty common but it’s like if a sushi boat, they charge you based on what plate you choose. This can go one of two ways either really expensive or really inexpensive. I would highly recommended that even though we really enjoyed ourselves, this is definitely meant for at least 4people. Between the two of us, hubsters and I ended up with a bill of $ 50 and lots more food to share. So being friends and family with you. Also I have to praise how clean the place was and though we were extremely full we weren’t that msg food coma full.

I was hoping the place would be good but unfortunately it wasn’t. It didn’t live up to the hype that some of the Unilocalers have mentioned or said about this place. Pros: the owner is nice and the papaya salad tasted good. Cons: poor service, tables were not cleaned after customers have already left(there was a table that was a mess before we got there and still a mess after we left), owner attended to customers who he was more familiar with, did not refill water cups, no one came around to ask how we were doing, food on the menu came out really late and we waited for awhile even though we were the only«new» customers to be served/seated. Tip: count your plates like everyone else said it does adds up and if you order off the menu just be prepare for the wait. Overall the place was mediocre. The service didn’t feel warming and inviting like some have mentioned. It felt like we were just there to eat and leave. Two stars because the owner was nice and seems to be doing what his workers are suppose to be doing. We only saw our server once and that was it.

The best Kapoon in North Sac. Very friendly staff. I haven’t tried the hot pot yet, but I will next time. I usually order the same thing. There Kapoon is no joke. It reminds me of my cousin kapoon and it’s rare that I get to eat it. Now I can order it anytime and it’s close to my house.

Service was awesome. I told the gentleman that it was our first time in and he spent plenty of time helping us with the menu. He was very friendly and attentive! The food was amazing(the pot is enough for two people). The broth was very tasty and the selection of veggies and meats were excellent! I just moved in to the area and am happy to have found this place!

The Kapoon looks appealing to the eye yet I paid 7.95 for a half bowl of broth. The broth tasted rather bland not strong in coconut which I was looking forward to. I added spicy flakes and a little lemon to improve flavor which it did but still bland I’m glad the soup wasn’t salty but it didn’t taste coconutty. It had some good shredded chicken, minimal Bamboo and cabbage if more was added maybe it would have help the dish feel more filling. Tons of chopped cilantro, bean sprouts and unnecessary Raw jalapeño that’s takes away from the authentic flavor and doesn’t make it spicy. It had two boiled small eggs which I never had in the many Kapoon dishes around Sacramento but taste as expected in a boiled egg. I ate the hole soup in 5 min while I knew I would still be hungry I had to go else where for more food. my mate had a beef phở with sausage dish his bowl was way more full his phở had way more flavor that the extra lemon aside from the bean sprouts and jalapeño weren’t as needed. Once he added the extra he found the broth to spicy for his liking so he took jalapeño out but broth was spicy for his I actually liked the phở I’m not big on sausage but I would say it’s better than my Kapoon dish but I enjoy a coco broth and chicken. Overall I’ve had better Kapoon they need to make this dish more filling if there’s not much appetizer or limited menu options to order. limited menu, they do have a fridge with cold food you can walk up to sit, cook stuff at your table but I didn’t get to experience that. Decent service.

We came here not knowing that it’s a self serve hot pot shabu” place, which really made our day because you don’t have to wait for what you want to cook and eat, just go up to the frig and help your self at any time. We had beef medium spicy broth on both side of the hot pot and it tasted flavorful. The dishes in the frig is color categorized by price. Very decent price we had a party of 4 and it was just under $ 45. But again it can vary on how much you want to eat. Love this place great service and good food. will be back to try their other broths. «House special» next time. Yum yum!

The restaurant appears to be clean, however the area where it’s located is run down. I liked the concept of cooking Asian soup at your table adding fresh ingredients. I had the beef broth which was very salty. Each ingredient you put into the soup is an extra charge. At the end of my meal the cost was $ 43.00 for two people. The mark up for the cost of soup is 200 percent. That’s a rip off.

Hands down one of the best hotpot spot I’ve been to and I’ve travelled around. Everything from the hotpot broth, papaya salad, dessert, among other Mien dish we ordered was delicious. I’m alwYs a skeptic when trying Laos style papaya(had a really bad one in the past) but this place has proved otherwise, it was excellent! I’m truly impressed and will definitely be back for more.

I was so excited to see this place on Unilocal because I had Thai hotpot at Hawaii. I miss Thai hotpot so much, but this place really let me down. We had hot pot. The soup taste wired to us.(Asian taster) The meat is very hard to chew. Comparing with little ship and shabu hotpot. I won’t come back for hotpot. But the waiter is very nice.

It’s rare that I give a 1 star, so when I do, it’s for good reason. First, the service was horrible. We started eating before water was delivered. We ended up going to the car to get water, it took so long. Second, the flavor of the broth was not good. It lacked seasoning. The veggies were good quality. The meat selection was bare. And they didn’t replenish when items were removed. Beef goes fast. I guess once the two plates of it are gone, you can’t get more. I’m sorry, but this place was disappointing. I was hoping it would be more like some places downtown. Don’t go. Save yourself.

I really don’t know where to start. The food or the service. Food: You go and pick out a tapa sized platter of extremely plain food and place it in a pot of salt expertly disguised as broth. If you’re in the mood to consume about 8000mg of sodium this place has you covered. The service: Don’t know, had to give up and retrieve water from car to drink. I’m sure there’s supposed to be someone there to do this, but I’m unaware of it.

I just got back from having hot pot here. So basically you pick a broth, you can pick up to 2. We got the house special and spicy beef broth. My favorite would be the spicy beef broth. It’s pack with flavor and with a kick of spicyness. The broth flavors here are; House Special(Tom Yum style) Beef(Regular or Spicy), Chicken(Regular or Spicy) and Vegetarian(Regular or Spicy) As for the sides, it’s self serve. You walk up to the fridge and get what you want. They charge you by the color of plates. Like other Unilocaler mention it can add up quickly. Green plates $ 2.95 Orange plates $ 3.95 Yellow plates $ 4.95 The beef was a bit dry and I only cooked it for a few seconds. But overall I’m a fan, I like the broth here way better than some other places I been to, and it definitely have more flavor then Boiling Aveune. Service was on point, our water was refilled, we were checked up on every 10 mins or so. I’ll definitely be back because I want to try their noodles. Since they have Kasoy, Kapoon, noodles and phở as well! Btw, there are now doing Crawdads Friday.

I’m from Sacramento and been looking for a good Hotpot place, and this is the best for the money.!! Everything is tasteful and the customer service is awesome. The Hotpot is self serve which makes it so easy. We also tried the papaya salad it was spicy and taste authentic Laos style. It was good. Definitely I’ll be back.

I love shabu shabu that’s why when this place open in antelope area I was so excited to try it. They have plate color price ranges $ 2.95, 3.95, 4.+. Depends on what type of ingredients u want to put. I love the combination of soup(beef & spicy) i believe the soup base is around $ 5.00 . I tried their thai tea and it’s good too. I just love this place…

This was our first time here and I can’t even begin to describe what a pleasant experience we had. The host was very polite, accommodating and took the time to explain everything considering. They serve soups to order as well as hot pot option. My wife opted for the Kasoy soup to order. It’s a Mien noodle soup that incorporates similar ingredients as Phở, including a ground pork mix as an additive. I opted for the Hot Pot with the House Special. This broth is very flavorful with some a sour and spicy flavor. It reminds me of Tom Kha Kai without the coconut milk. I added baby bok choy, mushrooms, egg noodle, egg and pork. This combination was perfect. My daughter chose the beef broth with pork, pork rinds, and tofu. We also had Thai Iced Tea, which in have to say was the best I’ve tested. Besides the great food the service again was exceptional. We were treated like values customers and we will definitely be coming back. Tonight was slow but on the weekends this place is jam packed! Thank going or the great service!

STEP1: Choose a soup base — House Special *a bit on the spicy side — Beef(Regular or Spicy) — Chicken(Regular or Spicy) — Vegetarian(Regular or Spicy) STEP2: Choose plates from fridge Noodles, meat, dessert… self-serve, so no need to wait or ask for a server to refill your bowl or sides! STEP3: Cook in hotpot(split in two for different broths) and enjoy! Green plates are $ 2.95, orange plates are $ 3.95, and yellow plates are $ 4.95. They add up quickly so keep count! Sometimes those eyes can eat more than your stomach can handle, especially because they offer such a variety here. Quail eggs, dumplings(pork, beef, and crab), mussel, pork meat loaf w/pork skins, tripe, Italian meatballs, fried pork, cooked fried chicken… the list goes on ~ We went crazy with their beef, crab meat, fish & lobster balls, shrimp, shiitake & enoki mushrooms, siomai, and udon noodles. They weren’t all spectacular, but they were good. The beef was a little dry and bland, the pork too plain, and the smoked sausages salty. I did like the two broths we ordered: the house special and the spicy beef. Overall, it was an okay meal.

Wow why isn’t this place more well known?! We decided to postpone our San Jose trip and drive a little less(still a 45 minute drive) over to Citrus Heights to try out this new spot. I LOVE the concept of just choosing which meats, veggies, noodles, and extras that you want in your soup. You have 7 choices for soup bases — house special, and a regular or spicy version of beef broth, chicken broth and veggie broth. The server informed us that the pot has a divider so we could get another soup base($ 3 extra) so we went for it — house special and spicy beef broth. Unfortunately we didn’t know the house special was spicy too so we had two spicy broths but it was all delicious. The ingredients are divided by green, orange, and yellow plates. We tried many things: udon noodles, flat rice noodles, beef, shrimp, lobster balls, crab, Napa cabbage, sausage, crab siumai, fish cake. My favorite was definitely the crab siumai. I could probably eat two plates by myself(I probably will next time). Our total overall came to about $ 60. Bad thing about this place — you have to keep track of your plates yourself if you want to make sure you’re charged correctly. Also, basically you don’t know how much you’re spending until you get that check! Oops! But it’s basically the same price that you’d pay at an AYCE shabu house. Another downside is the meat wasn’t as high quality. We tried the beef and it was a little on the thick side. The chicken and pork looked like it was cut thinner but I didn’t have any room to try it. I definitely want to come back but probably won’t soon since it’s so far. But I’ll keep it in mind when I am craving a customizable hotpot experience!
