Republic Moving & Storage

I have used RMS four times now over the last 6 years (not that I wanted to move that much). I have gone back every time because the office and moving staff are kind, friendly, and efficient. I have never had anything lost or broken through my moves. They were careful about following the homeowner rules in my new condo and I got a full refund with no incident. Thank you so much for your help each and every time!

Republic Moving and Storage is part of North American Van Lines. They are the «little guys» they job out your move to Republic, whose home base is located in Chula Vista, California.
For the most part I’m happy with the move, but not with some of the help involved in making it happen. There were a vast number of things broken, irreplaceable things you can’t put a value on. Also, not all of the dis-​assembled furniture was put back together. I did call the woman who «sold» Republic to me (Mari Drayton), to let her know. Mari said she’d look into it and call me back. That was over three weeks ago. *crickets*
The worst thing? We paid a lot of money to have Republic pack and move us. You would think you’d get primo service when paying such a hefty price to move across the country. You would also expect no breakage, theft or just plain neglect.
I have moved across the country at least 5 times in my lifetime, but this company by far, was the worst one I’ve used for a long-​distance move.
We absolutely love our new place, so that’s a positive thing. Onward and upward.

After destroying the hardwoods in my CONDO, Republic Moving and Destruction has come to me with and offer of $ 650!
They damaged my Bull noses and scratched all the floors with the exception of the closets and one room that we did not have furniture in.
Insane!
They know I ship out (Deploy) in 4 days, so they think I’ll accept their crap offer!
3RD PARTY CONTRACTOR STATED 24K in damages!!!

Having moved more than a dozen times, I’m used to varying levels of service. Republic Moving and Storage did it right. They called the day before and set up a time, showed up when they had promised to, and were courteous and careful throughout. The movers, Omar and James, were capable professionals. I highly recommend them for any moving services.

**Interstate Move: San Diego, CA to Atlanta, GA**
I hired North American Van Lines to move my furniture (a 1 bedroom apt) from San Diego to Atlanta – RMS was the local contact. Mari did the in-​home estimate and I was very impressed with her willingness to offer a competitive price based on my other estimates.
Originally, their prices were the highest out of my four estimates. My original estimate was $ 3300 but she started to «see what she could do» (aka pressing a bunch of buttons on the estimate app) and reduced it to $ 3000, then $ 2600… Before she got to $ 2600, I may or may not of looked at her as if she was insane b/​c my other estimates were $ 2600-​$ 2900. Lol.
This company has a guarantee-​not-​to-​exceed price – never choose a company who doesn’t offer this!! – so I booked NA Van Lines/​RMS for $ 2600 (and an est. weight of 1900 lbs). After I shipped everything, I followed-​uo to get the true weight of my items which was only 1300 lbs so I ended up paying $ 2000 instead of $ 2600. Moral of the story: make sure you follow-​up to get the actual total weight of your items.
That being said, I’d HIGHLY recommend RMS. The only reason they’re getting 4-​stars instead of 5-​stars is because The Moving Cordinator, Valerie, was a little unorganized and slow to respond /​return phone calls or emails when I had questions.
NOTE: All moving companies pad their prices with useless fees. I’d suggest you REMOVE /​ADJUST the following **after** you’re given your original quote. Let them ‘show their hand’, so to speak:
–Extra insurance coverage.
All movers are required to cover $ 0.60/pound FOR FREE, yet your original estimate will include extra insurance (an additional $ 150-​$ 200). Have this removed! If you need anything over the «free coverage», you’re better off getting insurance through an insurance company. #DoTheMath
–Pack your own items
–Put smaller items in your car
–Ask how many movers you’re getting.
Typically, they assign you 3 movers but if you’re moving out of state, you’re not charged by the hour so there’s no need to pay extra $$ for 3 – 4 movers when 2 will suffice. (This is more so for apartment moves or those of us whose move isn’t paid by the military or an employer)
–Be flexible on pick up /​loading days
If they are loading your things Fri-​Sun; the first week of the month; or the end of the month, your quote will be substsntially higher.
–Be flexible on pick up /​loading days from RMS to your interstate moving semi truck
I had my furniture picked up from my apt on Thurs and RMS was going to load it on a NA Van Lines semi that Fri… I decided to have them wait until Monday to load it and I saved almost $ 400! And, according to Mari, RMS will not charge you for storage if your stuff stays at RMS a few extra days. This is another reason I chose RMS – every other company charged for «storage».

**Also, I’d like to add that I did not have any problems with anything breaking. All of my furniture was professionally wrapped… And, when it comes to people complaining about their boxes being opened or torn open:
1) Do not overstuff your boxes. What do you expect to happen???
2) Do not label your boxes «Valuables», «Jewelry», etc. You’re just asking for someone to steal from you! Lol
3) Properly tape your boxes… One strip of tape will not do the job!

If only the quality of their service was as strong as their sales skills. Adam came to my home to complete my in-​home estimate assuring that my belongings would be professionally packaged and transported. Rental TV boxes and extra care with my art work? Sign me up, right?!
WRONG!!! We were alerted 5 minutes prior to their scheduled arrival time that they would be over 2 hours LATE. No TV boxes and certainly no special care. I cringed hoping that Rudy, the lead, would instruct his team to deliver the professional touch I was led to expect.
Again, FAIL! With the hustle and bustle of orchestrating our move I was unable to watch their every move. If I had the time allowance I would’ve just done the heavy lifting myself. I did, however, witness them nearly crack my front window with my now DENTED washing machine due to their failure the properly secure it before they attempted the move.
Now, the relief of being in my new home is clouded by my dissatisfaction in seeing all the knicks, dings, scratched and tears strewn across my possessions. Not a single room without damage.
DO NOT use Republic Movers if you have any desire to receive your things the way they were taken. I am not left repairing and replacing many staple pieces in my home.

Almost forgot to mention that they: drove off with our furniture hardware because they were scattered about the truck due to poor packing, unhinged a door and did not replace it, did not move items to proper location. The list goes on. I left room for a realistic margin of error but this goes far beyond. I would’ve at least appreciated you mentioning the damage perhaps over the nice lunch I provided your team.
I obtained bids from 5 different companies and selected Republic Movers for what they promised — none of which was delivered.
$ 1,700 + lunch + tip = MONEY WASTED!

This company is legit! My husband George and I recently relocated from San Diego to Glendora and we used Republic for our move. They handled our needs with professionalism, even changing our contract 3 or 4 times without hesitation. The crew of three showed up on time, worked very proficiently and got our belongings to Glendora in record time. They were professional, quick and none of our things were broken or damaged!!! Highly recommend this moving company!

I have mixed reviews with them. On the good side they were quick and friendly in moving everything. One of the movers, Brian was very professional and a hard worker. On the down side they did break a couple of antiques and the initial contact person was not the most organized or responsive.

I moved from overseas to San Diego and Republic Moving and Storage were my selected movers. They were quick and made sure every box on the list was there. For just two guys doing the moving I was surprised at how quickly it was accomplished. The only reason I didn’t give five stars was because they called at 0800 sharp and told me they were going to be at my residence in 30 minutes. They didn’t show up until an hour later. Yes it’s a small thing but to me that matters.

This company was assigned our pack out through the military so it was not a choice made by our family. If you are in a position to pick your movers look elsewhere. It was originally scheduled to be a 4 day pack out process. After the in house inspection it was determined that it could be done in 3. The day before they were scheduled to arrive I was contacted and told they thought they could do our entire household of 4 in 2 days. When I questioned that I was told that I would be pleasantly surprised. Let me tell I am not. They were to arrive the first day between 8:00 and 10:00. They showed up at 11:45 and worked until 6:00 p.m. only finishing the packing of the bedrooms. The second day they said they would be here at 8:00 but only dropped off one employee at 9:00 am who proceeded to run out of packing materials which brought the pack out to a standstill. Two additional employees finally arrived to the house in the late afternoon but they are still not done packing and nothing has been loaded onto the truck. It is 9:30 pm and I do not foresee being able to leave for hours yet. Many of the items are just out in the driveway. Inconsiderate and inconvenient. Some other job was more important for 2 of the employees today and now my family is being punished for a HORRIBLE vendor selection. I have nothing bad to say against the employees themselves, they obviously work very hard. The management of this company is not focused on customer satisfaction.

Once I got assigned this moving company for my move to overseas. I read some of the reviews here and I was afraid that I would experience some of the horrific things I read here. But luckily, I was assigned with the two most professional movers of Republic Moving & Storage… Roland & Miguel.
Few things that made them stand out was first, they gave me heads up call before arriving. Which was great, since I would not have woken up if they haven’t! Second, upon arriving at my house they introduce themselves with great courteous manner. third, they handled our «NEW» furniture as if they were their own belongings. They were concerned on how we would pack our stuff. And answered any questions me and my wife had with great professionalism. They immediately got to work and FAST. I fed them breakfast and lunch, which they declined both times, but I would not taken «NO» for an answer. Even after they ate, I told them to take a break. But they insisted into jumping back to work right away. Their work ethic is beyond astounding, it is up to par!
I even accidentally told them to packed all my luggage’s. And when I realized that had happened. I gave a Rolando a call explaining it was a mistake and that I need them back so I have luggage’s to use when I fly to Guam. Hesitant to ask at first because it was already loaded into the crates, and I knew they had to open the crates and dig them out. But Rolando quickly responded, «no problem». And the next day he brought hem back to us.
Roland and Miguel should really be the poster board for Republic Moving & Storage. I can guarantee you that if these two gentlemen are the ones that are assign to do your move. They will make you fell at ease and throw all your worries out the window. Because they are the true definition of customer service. Thank you Rolando & Miguel.

My movers Miguel & Garza were the best. Very professional and great work ethic. They paid attention to my requests as far as what to take/​leave behind and asked for clarity if they happened to forget. For the two days they provided service, they showed up on time and called before their arrival with an expected time of arrival.

HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE AND THEY WIL RIP YOU OFF.
I have worked with Republic for my last 3 major moves in the last 10 years and always had a good experience.
They acquired some other company and are getting very big and along the way have become sloppy, rude, have poor communication Skills and rest assured if anything is wrong they will blame it on several factors Least of which any fault of their own.
The Sales Manager Skip is overworked and drastically unorganised and while he used to work pro actively with issues works re-​actively it now seems to put out fires republic loves to state has nothing to do with them.
The referred me specifically to an auto transport company called Auto
Driveway and my new BMW arrived with
Damage.
I will write more latter and plan to detail a full complaint with the BBB.
Wait until I illustrate how they spoke to me, THE CUSTOMER which I will detail later today.
Stay far away from Republic, a once reputable company who now has lost site of what truly matters, the customer when looking for a moving company.
I HIGHLY recommend Remington Moving and storage and would stay far away from a sloppy run company such a Republic.
Republic has certainly lost me and at least 4 other customers when I told them about his attitude which deplore, short sighted and arrogant as you can imagine adding to the already large amounts of family stress caused by the natural process of aging and thought I could trust them. I did not and I do not and will be the last they here from me considering we are looking for a someone like this and now know exactly who not to take over .
They are just awful, dis– respectful and one of which thinks she is a doctor further offending me by her un educated and Mia informed information and referred to me as a pet to get my needs meds. All idiots and pass the buck.
It’s always sad to see w company fall apart that otherwise did well before taking on too much they clearly can’t handle

After contacting my agent in Florida to make him aware of the issue, I received a call from Republic Moving & Storage stating that they could deliver my shipment on Saturday, May 16^th between 10−11AM. Obviously, I accepted that date.
The movers did not arrive between 10−11AM, but they called me when they knew they would not make that time to explain that they got stuck in traffic and they gave me another estimated time. I appreciated their call, as I had another appointment, and their call allowed me to make that appointment then get back to my apartment for the new arrival time.
When the movers arrived they brought my items up to the third floor of a narrow staircase and didn’t scratch a thing. They placed all my belongings where I asked, put my bed and dining table back together, and were pleasant the whole time. As they brought in each box they said the number so that I could check it off on my copy of the bill of lading. Every box was accounted for.
After my initial contact with Republic Moving & Storage, I was not expecting the level of service I received from the movers. I am very pleased that it all worked out in the end (I received my shipment in the guaranteed delivery date window/​did not have to miss work/​my furniture was in good condition). I have upgraded my rating to 3 stars.

Every last peice of my brand new furniture is chipped and they lost the wires to my vanity so I can’t turn on my lights. This was a 2500 dollar vanity. I purchased the extra insurance policy and they just emailed me and said they will reimburse me 210 dollars. My table that has a chunk of wood out of it was 1200 dollars. I will be contacting lawyers and the news and the better business Bureau

Republic Moving & Storage packed up my household goods for a military move to Japan. We received our items this weekend and all of our wood furniture shows a lot of signs of not being packed properly. Missing chunks, scratches, dings, scuffs, you name it. You could tell they did not use enough material to protect the furniture. Hopefully they will be able to repair it but overall I am happy with their work.

Don’t use them. I’m only giving them two stars because the guys who actually moved my stuff into and out of the truck were very nice. But that’s it. The guy who gave me the estimate was pretty much the rudest person I’ve ever dealt with. And, though they were nice, the movers didn’t even deliver all my boxes. They checked everything off as delivered on their checklist, but I’m missing all kinds of things that probably just got dropped off at their next delivery address. I hope those people are enjoying their free Wii console and designer shoes.

I put my things in storage for a deployment. My things had been stored for an extended time due to various engagements. It was packed by republic storage. I had a brand new dresser that was had barely been used. My things were transferred to a new storage company where is noticed by the transfer company’s personnel that my dresser has been dropped and damaged. I was notify that I only had .60 per lb. insurance and received 90 dollars for a brand new dresser. It took three weeks for a claim to be handled. Bottom line there is no attention to detail when they handle your things. Store at your own risk.

Military moves… huh!!! I can’t speak about their other moves, but the company did great for a military move. I am horrible with names but the two movers that came out were GREAT! Time was from 0800 – 1000 and they showed up exactly at 0800. From there, they got to work. They were fast, professional, diligent, and exceptionally efficient.
I had them pick things up from a storage unit and from my home. They were able to do both the same day. I asked if they wanted to take lunch, but they were determined to get the job finished! If I ever have to move for personal reasons, I would recommend this company. Those guys deserve a raise!!!

For my PCS move across country, the government chose Republic Moving and Storage. We heard all the horror stories and prepared for our own, but had nothing remotely close to that with Republic! The crew leader, Sonia, and her team were absolutely phenomenal! They arrived early, were professional, charming, efficient, fun, and did a great job. My wife and I can’t believe how easy and enjoyable this has been.
Highly recommended.
