Great customer service. Optometrist was professional and very kind. Violet was helpful in advice across the board during the process of picking out contact lenses and glasses.

The doctor was really thorough. I never had such a good exam. I didn’t buy glasses because of the price. I liked a pair but couldnt afford at this time. The young lady who helped me was very pleasant and competent. I wish I could have been able to get the glasses.

Excellent service and expertise at this location. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by friendly staff that took care of me right away and helped me check my insurance coverage. The Dr. was wonderful — very thorough and efficient. Them the staff helped me pick out frames and also explained in detail what my insurance coverage is. They were patient and took their time assisting me. And when I went back today to pick my glasses n contacts I received the sane service. And I’m picky about customer service.

If I could give it 0, I would. I thought the customer service was horrible… cold and unfriendly. They screwed up the order for my son’s glasses and didn’t bother to tell us. When we went to pick them up, the clerk took them out and put them on him, no mention. It was fixed in the end, but it was a pain. He was supposed to have a scratchy free coating, thy scratched in a week.
My glasses lasted for 2 months, no exaggeration. The coating started peeling off around my ears and up the sides, then eventually all around the lenses. I went in and was blamed for it. I was told I should have bought the warranty. After much arguing, the clerk called another store to talk to a manager as the one for this local wasn’t in or answering his cell, and the other store manager had the issue solved in less than a minute. I exchanged the frames for the ones on display. So, I was only mildly surprised when a month later the same thing happened. Contacted corporate, eventually was offered a new frame, but when I called the store, nothing was in. No one has bothered contacting me since.
I will never go back to his place. Having worked in customer service for over 15 years, I know there are better ways to handle situations like this. Seriously disappointed!

Wouldn’t recommend this place they have terrible customer service. Not sure why they would even hired people with no proper customer service. Had a bad experience and wouldn’t go back to this location ever.
First they want full payment received of the order placed up front and they wont even get the order on time as promised. Second have to deal with employee’s that have no respect. No thank you

I had my yearly check up, and faced heavy pressure to purchase my contact lenses from them, even after explaining that my lenses (Biofinity Toric) were about $ 16 cheaper per box from Costco and Walgreens. There was no offer to price match.
To make matters worse, the incompetent sales staff overcharged me for my exam. My insurance company ended up reimbursing me for the amount I was overcharged.
Go out of business already, Visionworks.

Okay I came in here since they had a sell going on, and in total they were charging me $ 500 lol so I decided to think about it,
Since my husband came with me to the appointment he said they were charging way to much even tho the frames I was trying to get where BeBe, so I decided to stop by at American Best and happen to find the same frame for $ 200 in total.
I was surprise I save myself $ 300.
Visionwork prices are way to high, I mean if you want to go and spend your money on way over price frames this is the place for you, but if you like me and need to get the best deal this is not the place to stop at.

Awful service and would not recommend.
Mid December 2012 we dropped off my dads broken eyeglasses for repair, near end of January we couldn’t wait any longer so we came in to ask. They made me wait more than 30 minutes just to tell me that the frame they ordered is small for the lens and that they will have to order again. Part of the wait was because they were having problems trying to find the glasses they just put aside in the backroom.
Come February I called and was on hold for more than 10 minutes and the silly thing is that they never asked for whom the pickup was for, called again to wait probably another 5 minutes. Answer was «Glasses will be done in around 7 minutes». We gave them about 20 – 25 minutes, and when we arrived they were just about to put the lens in and that took about 10 minutes.
I think the best thing you can have done is an eye exam at any of these optical centers because deals they offer is just to lure you in, but when everything is summed up it will be about triple the amount. Just order glasses online, they’re cheaper and they definitely came faster than what we experienced at this place.

This review is based solely on the customer service I received at Vision Works. I received an eye exam as well there which was fine. I had brought in 2 of my own frames and wanted to simply replace the lenses with my new prescription. I have done it previously, the frames were purchased at Vision Works so I didn’t think there would be any problems. The optician told me that he would not be able to use the frames, some nonsense about there being a space at the top of the frame, a screw has been replaced, would not be able to trace the lenses, who would even believe such a pack of lies? Took the frames over to Pearle, they were able to put the new lenses in the frames and spent a fraction of the price I would have spent at Vision Works. I even asked Pearle if it would be difficult to use the frames and they said, ‘Not a problem, it will be very easy to put new lenses in the frame’.
Obviously, Vision Works wants you to buy new glasses so they can make more money but in this down economy why should I buy new glasses when I already have the frames. I’m taking my business to Pearle from now on, Vision Works is deceptive and practices on lies to the public for their own financial gain.

In all fairness, I didn’t actually get an eye exam or buy contacts or glasses here. I did, however, break my glasses that I got somewhere else. (screw fell out) Since they are just down the street, I called and asked what the charge was if I just needed to get a screw replaced, and even though I told them that I wasn’t a patient of theirs, they said stop on by, there is no charge! Both of the women at the desk were sweethearts, and very helpful. All in all, it took about 6 minutes. Also, as a side note, I cannot function without my glasses or contacts, and I was out of contacts when I called them. They got me out of a jam, and I’ll definitely be going back next time they run a special for my next exam!

The buy one get one is not a deal because you end up paying for both glasses. They tried charging me 249 dollars for my polycarbonate lenses+ price of glasses plus price of eye exam. I walked away after getting eye exam. Their marketing is a joke. Americas Best is free eye exam and they have a better promo with lenses. If you want to save go elsewhere. Key to shopping for glasses is to ask what they charge for lenses.

I have been visually impaired most of my life. I have also moved a bit and had to discover a new place for my impairment often. I liked Visionworks. I mean it’s not the trendy spot that charges you and exter $ 50 because they are just so cool. It is a chain store that has pretty good rates and very informed eye care professionals. They allowed me to test 3 different types of contact lenses before choosing my original ones. They were very patient and explained more to me about my vision than any of those fancy spots I have gone to in the past.
This place is close to home, has a good price and good doctors.

I know they are a chain, but, they are in my neighborhood and needing glasses, decided to go in and check them out. They had a great promotion going so decided to take advantage. The selection was great, the eye exam thorough. They answered all my questions without feeling rushed. Had them now for a week and just loved them. I got the mid range lenses and they are great. They give you a copy of your prescription without having to beg. Vision is crisp and clear, the frames fit well and don’t fall off my head, lol. Great product, service, price and location. (They have their own parking lot so no city meter fees). Hope they stick around. I’m sold. Oh, they took me right away, no appt. necessary.

Great service! I had not purchased new glasses in 10 years and needed some updating. I wasn’t pressured into any particular frame, I felt the choice was mine. I also wasn’t rushed to make a purchase.

I’ve gotten my eye exam here twice and I really like the optometrist. She’s nice and good at what she does.
They have different deals running all the time so make sure to ask what specials they have. I got a deal with lightweight glasses and polarized prescription sunglasses. My aunt who works at an optometrist office in Dallas said I got a very good deal. Hopefully they will include their fashionable sunglass frames in future deals, I had to order one that’s not intended to be a sunglass frame but it still looks good.
Appointments are not required but advised because they may run out of space for walk-​ins.
A tip for those who have a flex account for medical expenses: eyeglass cleaning solution and kits are allowed.

The optometrist is patient & thorough, & spent more time with her examination & followup than any other has done in very many years.

I had been getting my glasses from a small boutique in uppity East Lakeview for the last 5 years and was never really impressed with their service but I just blamed it on my insurance company. I didn’t know how great the experience of going to get new glasses could be until I set foot in this Visionworks. The company is relatively new to the chicago area, they’ve been here since 2005 but Lenscrafters and Pearle Vision Look Out! Not only are their prices better but their service is outstanding! From the moment I walked in I was adressed courteously and professionally. The staff was very knowledgeable. If you need an eye exam see Dr. Amy Patel… she’s extremely thorough and takes her work very seriously. She saw a potential problem with my optic nerve and immediately recommended an opthalmologist nearby that I could make an appointment with. I waited only one day for my glasses and sunglasses… they have their own lab. I highly recommend their HD lenses. I’ve never seen things this clearly before. I paid just over $ 300 for polarized sunglass lenses and frame and their best regular eyeglass lenses with anti-​glare coating and frame. I can’t say enough about the experience… if you don’t mind mostly no name frames made in china and only a few brand name frames then look no further. I highly recommend making an appointment because the place is always packed.
