My name is Kat Barber, LAc. I have a Masters in Science of Acupuncture from Bastyr Univeristy in Kenmore, WA, a Masters of Chinese Herbal Medicine and am a nationally board certified Acupuncturist (NCCAOM), licensed by the state of Illinois. I received additional training in Chronic Fatigue management, HIV/​AIDS support & addiction & recovery. I completed a 2 year, post-​graduate clinical integration mentorship, The Inner Tradition of Chinese Medicine & Advanced Chinese Pulse Diagnosis, with renowned Five Element Acupuncture scholar, author & teacher, Lonny Jarrett.

Traditional Chinese Medicine & Five Element constitutional diagnosis in my practice & treatments which help facilitate an individual’s healing & wellness.

My services include Acupuncture, Chinese herbs, Aroma Acupoint Therapy & nutritional advice to patients in the greater Chicago area…

I have a passion & commitment to facilitating your highest potential, development & optimal health through Chinese medicine. My unique approach to your treatment & care is to incorporate an integral, holistic style that cultivates all levels of healing: your body, mind & spirit. As treatment progresses, you will experience increased states of integration, wholeness & balance. I’ve helped patients with a variety of chronic physical & emotional conditions, ranging from anxiety, depression, insomnia & asthma to digestive disorders, chronic fatigue & musculo-​skeletal pain. I am a National Board Certified Acupuncturist with the NCCAOM & licensed by the state of Illinois. I received a Master’s degree in Acupuncture from one of the world’s leading centers for natural medicine, Bastyr University. I also completed a 2 year post-​graduate clinical integration mentorship with renowned Five Element Acupuncture practitioner, scholar, author & teacher, Lonny Jarrett.

Kat is amazing and I highly recommend her to everyone (because everyone should be getting acupuncture)! She listens and gets to know her clients, and most importantly — she genuinely cares. She uses wonderful essential oils that are so calming that the rest of the day I’m in a such an amazingly calm mood. She’s a true professional and really wants to heal your whole body/​mind. Her pricing is very competitive and she’s very easy to work with. I have been to several acupuncturists and she is literally the best! If you don’t have an appointment booked with her, do it now– you won’t regret it!

Kat is amazing! After getting a very scary diagnosis that IVF was our only option to conceive, I decided to try acupuncture in an effort to boost my fertility. Little did I know that not only it would help, but I would make such a good friend in the process! Kat listened to my concerns and helped keep my body in prime baby-​making shape. After a few short sessions, my anxiety significantly decreased and I had very little side effects from the medications. Best of all – I am now almost 8 weeks pregnant after one cycle of IVF!
Kat is a true professional and asks a ton of great questions about your overall health. She tried to get to the root of the problem and to understand our issues. There were a few times that I was a poor patient (late to appointments and some tears!) but she always treated me with kindness and compassion. I know that she was integral part of our fertility journey and I will be forever thankful for her!

Kat, Kat, Kat… how I love thee. Let me count the ways:
I have had you poke me with very thin needles three times now.
The first time you did it, you made my terrible, cluster migraines and visual disturbances disappear — I haven’t had one since (and it’s been about a month and a half). You also rubbed my feet and forehead with amazingly therapeutic essential oils.
The second time you did it, my bad attitude and ovulation cramps disappeared, and I walked into my home with a smile and refreshed sense of ease. My partner told me I should have you work on me every day — very funny, jerkface. Also, more essential oils had been placed lovingly in different spots on my feet and legs.
The third time, you only poked me with very thin needles on the back of my neck, the bottom of my back, and the outsides of my ankles. You rubbed more essential oils (a blend of different firs — absolutely, astonishingly beautiful to smell) on my back.
A side, but important, note: Kat likes to keep needle count as low as possible, and she is highly knowledgeable about essential oils, so (in case you didn’t catch on) she will use them in tandem with needles when she finds it appropriate — I really appreciate that, as I’m not exactly «into» needles unless necessary. Plus, essential oils are undervalued, but potent, things. Ask her about them. She knows a lot, and it’s interesting to hear to what she has to say about them.
You, Kat, are an amazing practitioner, and each day that I go in to receive a treatment from you becomes a better day. You put me at ease, you are approachable, you are gentle, you are knowledgeable, and you are extremely talented. You are also funny, warm, and radicool.
End of story: If you are looking for an acupuncturist, seriously look no further. Kat will fix ya up real good :)

I can’t say enough about Kat. I have been seeing her on and off for treatment for the last few months and she has completely reset my sleep and improved my anxiety levels drastically.
Pros:
* Noticeable improvements with each treatment
* Very reasonably priced, often offering specials
* Convenient location, right off the train
* Not «quacky» as some other acupuncturists I have been to — very knowledgeable and informative
Cons:
* None!
I recommend her to pretty much everyone I know. If you are looking for an introduction to acupuncture or someone for regular treatments, Kat is the best!
