Tease Salon & Spa

My friend & I love this salon and we have been planning to go get our haircut here this Friday. Well Kate and I have been calling Tease Salon for the past two days and the phone rings or it sounds like the line is busy. Mind you we have been calling over 20 times on different times of the day. Since Tease Salon won’t have a working line, then they no longer need our business (this is not the first time this happens,)…

Tease was stellar. My roommate and I both have a ton of hair and to top it off, I have thick curly hair. Tom did such a great job with cutting and blow drying my hair. It so hard to find stylist that can blow dry curly Latin hair. Everyone at the salon had great personality. Love tease!

I needed my eye makeup done for a show last night and was stressing out. I called Tease hoping they would be able to accommodate a last minute appointment and they did! Heather was extremely professional and knew exactly what kind of look I wanted. She created a dramatic and show stopping smoky eye that I would have never been able to do on my own. I was much more comfortable in the role I was playing thanks to how expressive my eyes turned out. Thank you SO much Heather!

Pros: Ina was great and I was really happy with my full set of acrylics. It was my first time and Ina was insightful and considerate when answering the tons of questions I had for her. I’m probably only ever going to go back for her.
Cons: No one was at the salon when I arrived about 15min ahead of time for my 12pm appointment. I called and was told that someone would be there shortly, however I ended up waiting outside for about 20min. That was a little disconcerting. Also, I had brought a gift card (a bday present from my sister). However, when I went to pay it seemed that no one had activated it therefore it came up as a $ 0.00 balance –I had never used it before. It eventually got sorted out, but it was an unnecessary oversight on their part.
Overall the services were great, but they could put forth more effort in improving their organization and administrative abilities. I would probably only return for Ina and her services.

I went to another salon where I am a regular and walked out with orange hair. I had to be at work in an hour. Tease took me right in and fixed the problem. I have gotten several compliments since then! Thanks for saving the day!

I went into Tease for the first time last year after reading great reviews. Why not give it a try?!
I have long hair. And at the time it was boring. Maria cut my hair and I LOVED it!!! Love love love! It definitely added volume and character. I never want to go anywhere else. Ever again.
And the place! So cute. Very clean and welcoming.
The only reason why I didn’t give 5 stars is because about 2months ago I set up an appointment and nobody was there. The hours on the door said it was open but It wasn’t even open and nobody answered the phone. So I had no choice but to go somewhere else and I was upset because my hair wasn’t as great as Maria would’ve left it. :/

These ladies really know how to take care of you and they do it with a smile. They are very fun and full of energy. They talk and laugh with you. If it wasn’t for the fact that I live so far out I would be there more often! The place is quite beautiful and they scenery is like no other. Just last year I threw a 9yr old Birthday party there and the young girls got manis and pedis, I served them food and drinks and they got a pampering of their life! Forget Sweet and Sassy they got CLASSY with it!

I am so happy that Liliana is back! Now the trip from the Northside to the Southside will be worth it! Thanks for coming back Liliana!

I came here yesterday because I live right down the street and wanted to support local business.
It was literally the worst experience I’ve ever had at any business.
All I got done was the back of my head (nape up to the mid-​ear) shaved. It had already been done, but I needed a trim. I was quoted 15 – 20 for it, and I figured that wasn’t too bad.
The owner’s son was there, he had to be 6 – 7 years old. He was running amuck! Flinging chairs around, turning on and off the lights, trying to run out the door! At one point the girl at the front desk went in back and left him unattended. He went to pick up a plate from their coffee stand and I ran over and took it out of his hand and put it back. He then HISSED AT ME! I should have left right then and there.
I got the back trimmed up, and I thought the girl did a very good job. I went up to pay and the woman told me it would be $ 35! That is outrageous for the 10 minute haircut I received! Thankfully, I the owner was there, but they still charged me $ 20 (I still think that’s too much).
I then get home, and shower, and a chunk of hair from the back falls out! Somehow, when shaving close to the line on the back, the stylist took out an extra chunk.
I will never be going back again, and would recommend no one does either.

I love love this salon!!! It is the cutest salon with friendly workers :). Its pink galore in there and lots of pictures of Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn. I actually was a walk in and felt extremely welcomed. Sara took care of my needs. I wanted to get a red ombré, and at first was super scared because of the red and didn’t know how it would turn out. I was totally impressed, I love love love my hair! I can’t get enough of how awesome Sara is at what she does, will keep going back to her!

Very cute space and very nice staff. Blow out was good. I don’t live in the neighborhood, but if I did I would probably try it again.

First time customer and I couldn’t be happier. Arie is AWESOME. I didn’t bring in any pictures, just described my hair issues and she gave me the perfect haircut that matched the picture I had in my mind. Most importantly, I absolutely LOVE the bangs she gave me. I dare say they are the best bangs I have ever had. She also gives you a super relaxing head massage when she’s putting the conditioner in after washing your hair.
The décor of this place is gorgeous, and the atmosphere is relaxed and cheerful. I have found my new salon/​hair stylist!

Ari did an amazing job. I have long, stick straight, color treated hair. My ends were horrible and dead and my layers were just a mess after not having my hair cut in such a long time. I also have bangs that have grown out and I missed terribly, but am unable to cut myself because I make them look too blunt.
Ari saved the day! She made my layers blend effortlessly into my hair, but still managed to keep the length long like I asked for. My ends look much healthier and my hair came out so soft and flowy. She gave me the exact bangs I wanted and they ended up falling perfectly into place. I’m quite happy and would recommend her to anyone with the same hair situation as me!

My review is strictly about the waxing services at Tease.
I’m new to Chicago, and settled on Tease for my waxing based on the location and the good Unilocal reviews. As a Pilsen resident, the salon couldn’t be more convenient, street parking is easy, and the interior is fun — lots of pink and black and pin-​up photography. Both times I’ve been, I was promptly greeted and offered a beverage while I waited.
My first visit was for a simple lip wax — the sort of maintenance I’ve had done for the better part of 20 years. The waxing room is compact but efficient, and since I was doing something simple, I wasn’t terribly concerned about the setup. I didn’t get the aesthetician’s name, but she was efficient and professional. When she rang me up, she reminded me that new clients get 20% off their services, but that I could use it on my next visit if I wanted to do more than a very inexpensive service. Great!
I went back this last week to get the full barrage of work done: lip, brow clean-​up, and half leg. I arrived early for my 6pm appointment, so I wasn’t surprised that I had to wait. At around 6:10, the aesthetician strolled in, chatted with her coworkers, and eventually came to get me between 6:20 — 6:30. I wasn’t in a rush, so no big deal.
However! She then proceeded to give me the worst leg wax I’ve had done in the four years since I started waxing my legs. She didn’t wash her hands. She used the same dipping stick repeatedly, slathering the wax on my legs, then dipping again and repeating until my calves were coated and the wax had almost cooled. She missed large sections of hair on the sides of my legs, didn’t touch my ankles or feet, and only waxed my knees because I specifically asked her if she was going to do so. (I know some places do knees, some don’t, but knees have been included in the half leg at the salons I’ve been to in California, Virginia, Illinois, and Michigan.) I spent the next day tweezing away stray hairs or sections of hair that she’d missed entirely.
My lip and brow waxes were fine, though she did double-​dip throughout the waxing. She also honored the 20% discount I was offered at my previous visit, which I appreciated.
I’m glad I gave Tease a try, but the terrible leg wax coupled with very questionable sanitation practices means that I won’t be going back.

This spa is awesome! i just want to get all of my services done their. They had me at the «customized facials» they do for clients. Not to mention it is the cutest salon I have seen in a long time. The energy is so positive! From the moment you walk in they offer you everything from coffee to wine… SOLD. When I left they even gave me goodie bag for being a first time customer. They even do spa parties and fun photo packages that include a photographer, hair, make up etc!
Rachel did my color and she was such a sweetheart. I will be back for nails and other services soon.

I have not yet been to Tease, but I do know that they hired a new waxer named Kaitlin. I’ve been waxed by Kaitlin and she did an amazing job on my eyebrows. She was careful and was very good at explaining exactly how they should look with my face shape.
I will definitely be making the trek down to Tease for my waxing needs especially since they have such talented staff there.

You guys. This place is awesome.
I came here last week for a bikini wax. I called last minute, knowing that I could probably be out of luck, but the receptionist was REALLY nice and got me scheduled only 30 mins after what I asked. She asked me if it was my first time at the salon and was excited when I responded that it was.
My sister came along and as we waited, we were offered refreshments and then the receptionist gave the both of us a tour of the whole salon. At first, I thought it was a little weird because I had never been given a tour of a salon but every staff member smiled at us and welcomed us. They have EVERYTHING here! Including a spray tanning room, wax room, massage room, two bathrooms, private room in the back for bachelorette parties, nail spa, hair and color and I’m probably forgetting something else!
The esthetician (I think her name is Lilianna) was great and I was very happy with the service!
I live down the block and can’t wait to continue to support this salon. You should def check it out. You’ll appreciate the friendly staff, cute/​pampering environment, and most importantly, the quality of the service.

This review is for the Esthetician Lilianna. I have not used any of the other services here. YET!
I just want to say that this place was AMAZING! The décor was adorable, extremely clean, and very comfortable. I just moved here from Michigan and I am happy to say I found a gorgeous, friendly, professional salon close to my house. The esthetician Lilianna was great. She was very friendly and made an awkward situation (Brazilian wax) into a very comfortable and at sometimes humorous situation. She went above and beyond what I came in there for, even gave me a complimentary mini facial! Talk about customer service! I was so thrilled with everything I didn’t even use my 20% off coupon for first time clients. It was worth every penny! All of the staff was very friendly also. They offered me coffee upon arrival which hit the spot on this cold day. Plus the cute kitty walking around the salon was a plus for me! I will definitely go back plus tell everyone I know to get their Brazilians here!

*phew* Wedding season is officially over. Three weddings in a month can be pretttty hectic. Buying dresses, shoes, presents, plane tickets, clutches… and not to mention the primping! Oy.
By the time wedding #3 rolled around, I was SO over doing my own hair. Straightening this mess gets tiring, ya know? Thanks to Pretty City, I scheduled a $ 31 haircut/​blowdry at Tease. I was excited to try a salon in Pilsen since it’s pretty close to my job and I wouldn’t have to fight traffic up north to try to make it on time!
When I first stepped foot in Tease, I immediately became enamored with the décor! Hot pink and black color combo — my favorite! There’s a gorgeous chandelier in the middle of the salon that’s just amazing… and I just love all the furniture. Beautiful!
Victor did a fab and amazing job on my hair! Love the way he texturized and made it feel so much lighter! Plus, he straightened my hair — alllll of it — into this super sleek ‘do. LOVED it. Just what I wanted for the wedding! He was super friendly, funny and totally made sure he knew what I wanted him to do with my hair!
He mentioned that the feel of Tease is similar to that of Barbershop… and I can see that! The space is open, so you can basically hear everyone else’s convo — so you get that welcoming, sharing vibe. I also met the darling, talented owner, who offered me not one, but two, glasses of wine. Always a way to win my heart.
FYI — They also offer mani, pedis and waxing. Street parking was a lil difficult on a Friday afternoon, but if you park on the side streets and not 18^th, it should be a little easier.
