Extremely helpful staff! I came in after having bought my first hi-​fi record player and needed to buy, assemble, and mount a headshell and stylus to my deck. After a quick synopsis on the characteristics and strengths of different needles, I picked one out and the guy showed me how to assemble and check the set up. Perfect! No sales pitch bullshit, just helpful and quick. I think I’ve just found my go-​to store for my turntable and stereo needs.

I would never recommend getting anything fixed there. I brought 2 mixers in, took 3 trips back and 6 months to fix my gear. Still had to pay in full and they never even fixed either mixer all the way. Every time I would pick my stuff up and I’d have to drop it off the next day and then they would tell me I need to be more careful. WHAT BS! Do your job that I paid you to do. They are good people but they have no idea how to repair anything.

I find highly specialized electronic stores intimidating and in my book Midwest Pro certainly qualifies. I don’t know squat about the stuff they sale but I still needed a small mixer with a phono pre-​amp built in to make my resurrected turntable work. Midwest was recommended and off I went.
These comments are all about gratitude. Wesley patiently listened to me describe what I needed, suggested a couple of options and eventually steered me toward a little Behringer 2 channel pro mixer. I was probably glowing trepidation. Wesley reassured me that I could handle this and he was totally right. I am blissed out everytime I go downstairs to the man cave and fire up the sound system. I was refunded the total cost paid for the repair which was all I wanted. I will no longer bring in any equipment for repair due to such a terrible experience but the blame rests entirely on the technician and not the store itself. The rest of the staff was very attentive and able to find products that I asked for and I left feeling that the situation was handled appropriately.

Very shady. Steer clear.

Being a female professional DJ, I am constantly stared at when I go to buy my equipment. Every other store looks me up and down, then either assumes I am there with my boyfriend who is buying something, or that I have no idea what I am talking about. This is NEVER the case at Midwest! The staff is friendly, and knowledgable, and they treat me with respect every time I walk in. In the past, when I have called with a question or problem, they make every attempt to help solve the problem over the phone, saving me a trip in. They never try to upsell me, or talk me into something I dont want or need. This place gets 5 stars all the way! I will never go anywhere else for anything DJ related!!!

I am a dumbass.
I spilled water on my boyfriend’s APC20, a mini-​controller with ableton, and those things do not like to drink water. Frantic to replace it before he played a show tonight, this was the closest store with one left in stock. They placed it on hold for me, and it took me less than ten minutes to buy it and get out.
Turns out the damage was not as bad as initially diagnosed, and we decided to return the new APC, I never opened the box while we waited out the damage. Making the return was beyond easy, took less than ten minutes again.
I appreciate their efficiency, and hope to return under better circumstances.

at first I gave this place a better rating because they did indeed answer my question but didnt know what customer service is all about, after a few more close friends have dealt with this place all the way from rentals to repair to simple questions I have concluded that there may only be one good employee there, unfortunately Im not sure who that is, so be careful u may get a half ass repair, and you surely will probably get a jack ass attitude like they are the best in the world, or almost like a «why did you walk into my store I rather be a lazy ass and browse the internet and if you do come in Ima talk and look at you weird» attitude boooooo this place!!! ow and they dont cut deals on nothing no matter the situation

I was looking for a new mixer, after going to a few other dealers in the area, and not having much look, I went to this place. The sales staff are great!
, I told them what features I was looking for on a mixer, and they showed me about 7 different mixers to choose from.
Finally a store that has sales people who know what very are talking about, and are very friendly.
I will be going back for sure,

I would have originally given this place 4 stars, because it was great for an audio store, they had what i wanted etc. But then the real 5^th star kicked in. Something went wrong with what I bought, and guess what? they took the time to trouble shoot it until they got it working and all along it wasnt even broken. I had mistakenly turned a switch off that i shouldnt have. (sometimes there’s just too many buttons). either way they didnt give me any grief, they just helped me out and didnt make me feel like an idiot. i like that, a lot. I will return many times.

I have been DJing around town and needed to upgrade my gear. I had seen this place for years and decided to give them a shot. I couldn’t have made a better decision. Their staff is professional and approachable. They made it easy to ask questions and get answers which was super necessary for a noob like me. Although my gear took way longer than I expected to arrive, they were upfront about it and kept me informed. And when I had trouble getting it to work properly, Eric took time out of his day to get me up and running. I really can’t say enough about their sales and service. Totally pro!

Here is a review of their repair dept. I took in 3 turntables, two to get a low buzz fixed, and one to fix the tone arm connection. They claimed to fix the buzz but did not. When I went back into the studio to show the technician, I noticed he was using an ungrounded mixer and an oscilloscope. My buzz problem was so low it was virtually undetectable on the oscilloscope and of course everything he tested on his mixer had a buzz. So I gave up. Then the 3^rd turntable came back to me claiming to be fixed but all they did was clean it and replace the cables. I actually had to take it back TWICE before they fixed it which involved a new tone arm (I repeatedly suggested this from the beginning).
So that I didn’t lose too much money on the first and second turntables for which they would only partually refund me I asked them to fix a speaker for free. They agreed but this took over 2 months since they were «waiting on a part.» These guys are really nice and I have heard from others that they do repairs well but based on my experience I would not recommend that anyone go here for repairs, ever.

After spending $ 140 on a cleaning and minor repairs for my mixer, I found several problems with it. Some of the lights are missing or buried inside the mixer, an important pot was totally uncleaned and crackly, the faceplate was uncleaned (unlike the last time I had this done), and several of the knobs were put back on incorrectly. After finding a couple of the problems, I called and left some feedback. When I found more problems I called again. Sammy, the owner, I believe, offered to fix the problems, which was great, but instead of taking ownership of this problem, he blamed it on the new technician, explaining that «he doesn’t know everything he’s supposed to do.» But mistakes like this were not made out of ignorance. I believe they were made 1) because whoever did the work rushed through it and 2) because there was no quality control on work done by a new technician. When I pointed this out, Sammy accused me of «whining.» No-​no #1 is insulting a loyal customer. No-​no #2 is making excuses for poor goods and services. I’ve plunked down somewhere in the neighborhood of $ 2000 at Midwest over the years and have made countless referrals to Midwest. Sammy has, in one stroke, lost my business for good. Instead of taking responsibility, he chose to make excuses and insults.
Later, when I opened the machine up to fix the problems, I found a TON of dirt inside. In other words, it had not actually been cleaned. Now, three months later, the «new» pots are already going. So they may have just cleaned them and not replaced them.
So if you like lack of accountability, lack of customer service and shoddy workmanship, have your equipment serviced here. Otherwise, go elsewhere.

If your throwing a private party or having a wedding, this is a great place to rent the PA system. This company has been around since the days of the grimmey Belmont area that I use to love. Def. check them out, if you need DJ stuff. T. Sanzone

Absolutely the best! I buy a lot of equipment and this is my go-​to spot. Their sales staff goes above and beyond and they are way better than the big box music store folks (i.e. Guitar Center and Sam Ash). My only regret is not finding them sooner. I will inevitable by more equipment as the years go by, I will ALWAYS go here first. I love this place!

Excellent repair work. Trustworthy and up front. Nice that you can trade in your old gear when you upgrade. That said, I’m still more a pawn shop/​swap meet/​craigslist shopper so most of their gear is a bit out of my price range.

Cool place to get huge speakers or those flashy lights. They have a huge selection and even have a repairs section. Bring in any electronics item that needs repair and they’ll fix it for you. And they also buy used electronics!
