Mark’s Small Moves & Deliveries

Had three pieces of a used oak wood office furniture set to move from Mt Prospect to Wheeling. Called this company on Jan 18^th, to have these three pieces of furniture moved on January 21. Very clearly told the man I needed to be called when the movers were on their way, because I did not live at the Mt Prospect location.
Jan 21 received call from one of the two movers that they had ALREADY ARRIVED at the home in Mt Prospect. At my home in Wheeling one of the two movers told me that the large office desk could not be moved into the room I was making into my office.
Found ONE man on Craigslist who came to my home … long story short, this one man was able to move that large desk into my office. When I asked for a partial refund from Mark’s Small Moves, that request was completely denied.
I have been on a fixed income since 1991. I can not afford to pay twice to move a piece of furniture! Bottom Line: This company will never be used again!

I had 3 pieces of furniture to move from one end of Logan Square to the other — about a mile apart. The first part of the move required the pieces to come down 3 flights of an old and somewhat treacherous spiral staircase. James and Tyler showed up on time and ready to go. They immediately padded and wrapped everything in a matter of minutes. 2 pieces, the love seat and chair were easy to move down. It was the couch that caused some problems. Due to the staircase situation it was near-​impossible to maneuver this large single piece couch around the corners as it turned lower. Eventually James and Tyler reached an impasse on the 2^nd floor. There was still a ways to go. At this point since I had already moved into the new condo I was contemplating destroying the couch to get it out of my life. It wasn’t worth it. James and Tyler convinced me it was worth saving and they were going to figure something out. Putting their thinking caps on James and Tyler came up with the idea of lowering the couch over the railing to land atop a plastic covered dumpster in our building’s alley. Then since that dumpster had wheels, it would make a natural dolly that could be used to roll the couch to the truck. It worked perfectly and the couch (which I thought was going to have to be scrapped just to get down the stairs — and I was willing to do) made it to our new condo intact and undamaged — along with the other items. Fortunately the new place was on a first floor with a loading dock handy. I was very pleased with how the 2 worked together and their perseverance with a problem that seemed to have no solution. I would use this company again and hopefully, if they’re still around, use James and Tyler. The price was right too.

I rarely write reviews, and I’m late in doing this one (I moved a month ago now) but these guys definitely deserve the recognition. I contacted Mark very last minute for a mid-​month move. He got back to me quickly with by far the lowest quote of anyone I reached out to.
Headley and Tyler were my movers and they were fantastic! To start, they were exactly on time. Initially in order to keep costs down I had only asked for a quote on moving some of my bigger furniture, anticipating I could do the rest with a few friends (turns out I had a lot more stuff than anticipated). Day of, these guys were more than happy to help cram in as much of my other stuff as we could fit into their truck. No haggling on extra charges or anything that I’ve come to expect from moving companies.
My bed is huge (Cal. King) and come time to get the frame inside my new place, it definitely wasn’t fitting. These guys took the time to break it down and carefully put it back together. Again no haggling over extra costs. End of the day they went above and beyond what I had asked for, were exactly on quote, and very nice guys as well. I highly recommend!

Thanks to Headley and Tim of Mark’s Small Moves for helping me carefully and expediently move my Grandma’s antique cabinet to my house. Both gentlemen were so friendly and courteous. The process was hassle free. Highly recommend!

These guys are great! I didn’t need a truck move just a couple of guys to help jockey furniture and boxes around to organize a space I recently moved into. A combination of living and work space — and some heavy tools. They were so polite and efficient. Some of it I had to figure out on the fly and they took it in stride. I was more than happy to have their help and highly recommend Mark’s for any of your moving needs! Huge thumbs up!

We were thrilled with the efficiency, timeliness, accurate quoting, and professionalism of this company. We shopped around for almost 3 months and this was BY FAR the lowest quote and they did not try to get any more money out of us (but DEFINITELY deserved the tips we left them).
We had a couple scheduling conflicts and they were extremely accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure that we were satisfied. They assembled and disassembled our furniture and even gave us some advice on layout due to a small condo.
I would recommend them to absolutely everyone and I am so thankful they made our move seamless and stress free.

I was looking to move into my studio apartment and needed movers that could be fast and affordable. That’s exactly what I got with Mark’s Small Moves. The movers showed up exactly when they said they would and worked hard to get my move done in record time. I had booked my move to have two movers but three guys showed up yet I was still only charged the rate of two movers which I was very happy about. The cost for the move was exactly what I had been quoted by Mark and was much cheaper than any other quote I got from other local companies. Overall I was incredibly impressed with the price and quality of my move and would absolutely use this company again in the future. I recommend them to anyone that needs a quick, affordable, hassle-​free move.

Mark Movers exceeded my expectations at every step in the moving process. Mark quickly squeezed me onto his schedule and accommodated all timing requests on a multi-​stop pickup & delivery in Chicago. The rate was reasonable and the entire process ran like clockwork. The pickups at 2 locations were on time and the movers (Terry & Headiley) were efficient and very careful handling my things. I would highly recommend Mark Moves You to my most discriminating friends.

Headley, James, and Mike were our movers. They were extremely professional, quick, efficient, and courteous. These guys worked so hard on the hottest day of the year so far. Our entire move from Chicago to Arlington Heights took under 5 hours. I would call them again for my next move.

These guys moved my one bedroom apartment. They were so sweet, efficient, and very careful. I highly recommend them! (Also they are way cheaper than the big moving companies and gave me an extremely accurate quote over the phone).

Mark answered the phone on the first ring. Two strong, polite young men appeared 30 minutes later with a van. They really wrapped and protected my love seat, moved it to its new location, set in place. Perfectly painless for me! What more could I possibly want. I put him on speed dial.

These guys were the tops. Fast, courteous, and extraordinarily hard-​working.
My gal and I were moving into an apartment together, meaning we had her place, and my place to load up. The three gents who came, first thing early in the morning, moved faster than I could’ve ever anticipated. Dealing with two third-​floor walkups with no visible sign of stress. Pretty darn unflappable.
This is a stressful time for anyone involved. Moving is pretty hard-​core nasty, sweaty work. To have a group of courteous guys who can get it done really turn the day into a positive, exciting experience. For the price, I can’t imagine doing any better. I will absolutely recommend these folks to anyone staring down the barrel of a tough move.

i contacted mark kind of last minute (less than a week before our move date) requesting 2 movers for 2 hours to move large furniture pieces from the suburbs to a 3^rd floor walk-​up in the city. he fit me in for an appointment starting between 9am and 10am on our desired day.
at 9:25 that sunday morning, phillip and hedley called and let us know they’d be at the pickup location in 10 minutes, and there they were, 10 minutes later. they moved quickly and carefully to get all of our furniture loaded, and were on their way downtown within 30 minutes of arriving.
when they got to our new apartment, they inspected both the front and back stairwells to figure out which was best to get our furniture up without damaging it; this was much appreciated. then, once they had their plan, phillip and hedley moved everything efficiently up the stairs and in to the apartment. they worked so hard to make sure nothing was damaged, and took their time in those close corners, rather than rushing it. they even helped put together our bed frame when we couldn’t figure out how to do it! such nice guys. a little over 2 hours after they first arrived at our pickup point, they had finished moving us in.
i hope we don’t have to move again anytime soon, but if we do, we won’t hesitate to use mark’s and request phillip and hedley as our guys again!

Overall, the experience was very disappointing. I reached out to the owner after seeing positive Unilocal reviews to schedule a move from a third-​story walk-​up into a first-​story apartment, with a stop to pick up an additional piece of furniture. He recommended that I reserve three movers, and the move was set for 9 am on a Sunday.
On the day of the move, I was standing outside my apartment building until 9:30 am, waiting for the movers to show up. I called Mark and was told that they were «five minutes away» — twenty minutes before they arrived. The movers didn’t call to tell me they were late until 9:25 am. Then, when they arrived, I discovered that there were only two movers instead of three.
I helped the movers take boxes and furniture out of my apartment to speed the process, which meant that I wasn’t supervising the loading of the truck. I discovered, when they were unloading at my new place, that they had taken desk drawers and other smaller furniture and thrown them into a huge cardboard box in the back of the van, with no protection. As a result, the drawers to my TV stand got scratched and one of the drawers of my desk was irreparably damaged. It was clear that the movers were hurrying because they didn’t have enough help, and they were both exhausted and grumpy since it was really a three-​man job.
I emailed Mark to tell him about the damage and was told that they would only compensate me 0.30 cents per pound, which is a ridiculous policy — what if something small but valuable got damaged? When I pointed out that the movers were late and he sent the wrong size crew, he told me that «sometimes mistakes are made, people call off, no call no shows etc.» I sent him the specifications for the damaged desk and he never wrote back.

Just recently used Mark’s for a move — and couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Our move included two apartment stops to pick up/​load boxes and furniture, one storage facility to drop some of that furniture off, and finally unloading at the new apartment we were moving into. Our movers didn’t complain, but instead worked harder and faster for us — cognizant of the cost/​hour.
Not only were our three movers great guys to be around, but when it came to working and getting the move done — they knocked it out of the park. They turned what is supposed to be a very stressful day into a breeze. I have already referred them to a friend and will continue to retain them for my moves in the future!

I have never used movers before and was a bit nervous to hire someone– With Mark’s Small Moves & Delivereis I had such a great experience! The 2 movers were on time (and friendly!) and wrapped all of my large furniture. I was able to move all of my items in my 1 bedroom apartment into my new place in under 2 hours! They are very affordable and I look forward to using them again!

We called Mark on a Monday for a Wednesday move. Not only could they do the move, they showed up right on time, got to work and did the move in two hours. The guys Alex and Kevin who came got right to work as soon as they arrived. They had to carry everything up three flights of stairs. It was not an easy move but the did a great job. I would highly recommend them for a small move like ours. They were courteous, on time and did a great job. I highly recommend them.

I’ve used them twice in the last six months. These guys moved me into storage and then out of storage and into my new house. Both times they arrived about 15 minutes early (not complaining, always good to get a move done early), and they seriously moved quickly. They got me out of a third floor walk-​up in Chicago, wrapped all my large items in protective plastic, got the stuff down into the truck, drove thirty miles to Addison and unloaded into storage, all in under four hours. Not a scratch on my stuff either. Similarly quick and fast on the move out of storage a couple months ago.
Friendly guys and good rates (they let you know precisely when they start and end the clock). Would definitely use again, god forbid I have to move again.

Used Mark’s 3 times and had a great experience every time. The movers were professional and courteous each time. They were also very careful with my belonging on all accounts. I would highly recommend them for your moves.

Excellent service. Reasonable cost. I moved all my belongings from storage to my new apartment. They arrived early, came up with an efficient game plan and took care of everything from that point on. I was beyond impressed.
