House buying is scary. Even more so if it’s your first time. The process is expensive, stressful, unpredictable and often highly complex. When my fiancé and I embarked on our journey to become first time home owners, we really had no idea what to expect. We stumbled across Mario after reaching out to a blind ad for a house that seemed interesting to us. From the moment we engaged Mario, we found him to be friendly, prompt, responsive, and extremely knowledgeable. Don’t let his boyish good looks fool you! This is not his first rodeo!
I’ve heard many horror stories from homebuyers and their experiences working with real estate agents. So I have to say that before meeting Mario, my fiancé and I were a bit apprehensive to say the least. They say they will work for you, guide you through the process, be available to answer questions, value communication, blah blah blah, but do they REALLY want to work for you if you aren’t going to make as much money for them as another client who can afford a more expensive house? We certainly had a budget for our first home purchase, and definitely weren’t able to throw down a full 20%. I’m sure Mario had many other clients with greater financial flexibility that could have commanded a greater amount of his attention, but if they were, we never knew it. We always felt like we were the star clients.
Mario FAR exceeded any expectations I had in both his attentiveness to us, and the amount of knowledge he has about real estate and everything related to the house buying process. When we would do walkthroughs, he would make sure to point out everything, good or bad, specifically noting things like water damage, structural deficiencies, building materials, and the difference between a tear off or overlay roof. I mean, who thinks to ask about that kind of stuff? We sure didn’t. And as far simply working with us, Mario was always available to be reached by phone or email, even going out of his way to show us a home on his day off. Clearly he understands that time is of the essence!
I’d like to brag that we are probably his favorite clients ever, but based on the feedback we’ve gotten from a friend we referred to him, we are not unique. This is how he treats everyone! He remembers all the little details, and adds his own personal touch to demonstrate even more (if that was even possible) how much he cares! My fiancé and I even joked that we were going to start expecting a gift or a little note from him in the mail every week. We got birthday cards, lotto tickets, and a thank you bottle of wine for our referral. And on the day of our close, he brought us a some nice bubbly and a full size cake with our faces screen printed on it! Mario really goes the extra mile on EVERYTHING, and has a sense of humor to boot!
But maybe you’re asking yourself, how can you be sure Mario is REALLY working for you and not the extra buck (as well he should)? Well, on our first two offers, Mario encouraged us to bid a little higher. This can definitely be nerve-​racking, especially when multiple offers are on the table and you’re pushing your budget. So by the time we extended our third offer, we were so scared of losing out on another home that we suggested we just offer what the seller was asking for to get it over with. But get this, Mario told us to BID DOWN. If we ever had a doubt as to whether Mario was on our side and had our best interests in mind, that completely eradicated it. And lo and behold we got a house!
Folks, I cannot say enough great things about Mario. Not only Mario, but his whole team. His assistant Alma is a dear, and always willing to step in and help out if Mario can’t immediately get back to us. Mario also put us in touch with two great (and better yet, affordable!) resources: our lawyer and inspector. The inspector, Bruce, was no frills, knew his stuff, and did an incredibly thorough job. And his lawyer Bill is awesome too; always responsive to our calls and emails to make sure we fully understood every step of the process.
My fiancé and I felt INCREDIBLY lucky to have had the opportunity to work with Mario on purchasing our first home, and I assure you that you will too. Until next time Mario!

Mario was amazing to work with! As first time home buyers, we were not aware of ALL of the steps! We also had been working with a sub-​par mortgage broker making matters even more confusing. Mario took the time to not only follow up with us on all of our realtor questions, but also took the time to reach out to our mortgage broker during the (many) times they were not following proper timelines. We could always count on Mario to respond within ten minutes of a text/​email/​call which put a lot of our anxieties to ease. We started working with Mario months before we were serious about home buying after he was the listing agent on a property we wanted to see. He immediately reached out to us (on a Sunday) and we’ve been with him ever since! He was patient and never pushy even after we switched our search terms about five times! He always did his research and was literally our tour guide wherever we looked! We would absolutely recommend him for any type of buyer! Thank you, Mario!

Mario worked with my husband and me to find our first home! The experience sounded intimidating but he made it so easy and nothing to worry about for us! We had no timeline to find a new home and just wanted to see what’s out there! On my second outing with him I found our perfect first home and jumped on it! There were a bunch of other offers on it and he advised us on how to make the best one and he did! It worked! The process after went very smoothly as well and the closing! This is the second time we use Mario, but this time for a sale on a commercial property. As before, he provided us with excellent service, keeps us up to date and checks in with us often. And, most importantly, he explains things well. He is knowledgeable and shares that knowledge so you are never in the dark. We will definitely be using him again in the near future.

I had the pleasure of working with Mario to buy my first house. It was my first purchase and I knew nothing about the process. At every step he made himself available to answer all of my questions, allay every concern, and offer suggestions. Now I’m writing this review from the living room of my beautiful new home — all because of Mario.
At the beginning Mario met with me to describe the buying process, explain all the terminology I wasn’t familiar with, and asked all the questions he needed answered to determine what I was looking for. He was very thorough. When the search began, he not only sent me listings every day, but followed up on the ones that very closely met my requirements. At no point did Mario pressure me. If after viewing a house he picked up on reticence from me, or had concerns of his own, we talked about and if it was something I couldn’t move beyond we continued our search.
When we finally did find that perfect home, he helped me draft up a competitive offer, which worked (I did get the house after all!). Then the stressful process began (the inspection, the appraisal, the negotiations, etc). I felt completely overwhelmed at times, and I’m sure I was a basket-​case once or twice. Mario hung in there with me. He made extra trips to the house to make sure all of the agreed improvements were completed by the seller. He represented me very fairly during negotiations. He even checked in after I was in my home trying to absorb the fact that I just bought a home.
I couldn’t have asked for a better person to help facilitate the buying process. Do yourselves a favor and consider Mario. You won’t be disappointed!

Mario made my first purchase a breeze. He was knowledgeable on every step of the process and was always available if I needed him. I would recommend him to any buyer whether they are a beginner or experienced investor. If you want someone to work hard to get you the best deal then don’t hesitate to reach out to Mario.

Working with Mario Barrios was a terrific experience! My mom had a very short time period to find a new home and with Mario’s tenacity, it was accomplished. If we could give more stars we would! Mario assisted us in purchasing a foreclosed home. Not only did he help us negotiate the price even lower but the appraisal came in $ 70,000 more than what we paid for the home! Mario put as at ease as this was the first home we have purchased that was a foreclosure. His attention to detail is impeccable and he always made himself available by phone or email. Mario has excellent communication skills and you really feel like he is the only one working for you. Not only did Mario help us with the purchase but he has become a great friend after everything was set and done. Definitely do your research when you pick a realtor… Mario should be your top choice!

Our first time home buyers’ experience was excellent. It was a 6 months process and Mario was there to help us since the beginning. He was very dedicated, patience, honest, knowledgeable, and hard working. At the end of the journey, we were thankful for having him on our side. Mario is a top Realtor!

As first time home buyers, we don’t have another experience to compare with. But, we couldn’t possibly imagine another agents services comparing to those of Mario. It was impeccable. He worked tirelessly with us, showing us house after house, for over a year until we found the perfect fit. Not once did he make us feel like a difficult customer – even though we carted all four of our kids to most of the showings. Mario is very knowledgeable in every step of the process in buying a home.
