Absolutely the best surgeon and doctor I’ve ever had the pleasure to meet. Dr. Adajar is a consummate professional, followed up with me in a personal and approachable way, and never made the surgery process complicated or scary. I’ve had haircuts that were mores stressful. I would recommend him and his team in a heartbeat.

Competence. clarity and compassion. It’s the combination a professional strives for. Marc knows what he’s doing, and a fine job of explaining it, of understanding what I described to him, of being properly concerned for how it impacted me, and of following up with me even weeks after the procedure [bilateral laproscopic inguinal hernia repair].
And, of course, I hope I never have to go to him again… ;-)

My primary care physician referred me to Dr Adajar after it was determined I had an Inguinal Hernia in April of this year. Being that I am a 27 year old, and in pretty good shape I was a little put off by the diagnosis, but figured I would get it checked out to be safe.
I scheduled an appointment with Dr Adajar a few weeks later for a consultation. I am glad I did. He was very personable and not condescending in the least (unlike some doctors who act like you don’t know anything and should leave the decisions to them).
After the examination, he sat down in the chair next to me, not the doctor’s chair, and we just talked. It was a dialog in which he asked what I knew about hernias and then he filled in the blanks. He told me the options I had, but listened to my opinions as well.
Since it was the beginning of the summer and the hernia was not causing me pain or discomfort, Dr Adajar gave the option to hold off until the end of the summer to have the procedure (since summer is the only reason to enjoy Chicago).
I ended up having the procedure in October. He was excellent. He followed up personally with emails almost daily to check on my recovery!
I would highly recommend him to everyone. I can honestly say, Dr Adajar, is the best doctor I have ever gone to!

I was lucky enough to be referred blindly to Dr. Adajar by my gastroenterologist. I have to say, there are not enough positive adjectives in the English language to praise Dr. Adajar and his staff. Kind, caring, warm, friendly and comforting are just the tip of the iceberg. I have seriously never met a more genuine doctor in my 32 years. He’s present and he listens… truly listens. He insists on being emailed for follow-​up after surgery as a check-​in and he responds promptly to any questions or concerns. In an age of depersonalized medicine, Dr. Adajar and his team are bringing human back. His practice is a family-​run (his aunt is sweet and hilarious), he has a foundation that helps people who can’t afford surgery, his smile will brighten your day and his attitude will set you at ease before and after your procedure. If I ever have to have surgery again, I know exactly who I’m calling. Don’t hesitate to call this amazing practice for your surgical needs.

I went to the ER for excruciating pain in my gallbladder so badly I requested morphine (first time I have ever taken pain medications). I found out that I had an infection on my gallbladder and inflammation of the gallbladder and part of the liver. The ER doctor told me that my gallbladder needed to be taken out & I agree! I was hospitalized and that was when I meet Dr. Adajar. I got a great first impression (that is very important to me– especially from someone who is going to be performing surgery on me.) Also my mother, who was with me, got a great impression especially when he respond back to my mother in Spanish she got happy. He explained what would happen before and after surgery especially if there would be any complications. Anyway Dr. Adajar gave a really fun, awesome, happy, comfortable vibe and attitude– which is a ¹⁰⁄₁₀ for me: D. The day of surgery came and he explained calmly what would happen. After surgery I started waking up from the anesthesia, he told me what had happen and that the surgery went great! (thumbs up!) & he explained a few more things (im forgetful hahaha!). Day 4 post op & I feel just soreness and I’m back to being me! I missed being active so when I was told that I had to walk to decrease the risk of blood clots I went for it! Anyway to sum up my jibber jabber– Dr. Adajar did an awesome job & I would absolutely recommend him! Oh Yeah I forgot! I would also like to say that Dr. Adajar’s team also did a wonderful and great job! They work great as a team!

I had a hernia repair surgery done by Marc A Adajar recently. The surgery went very well. What impressed me most was the open availability of Dr Adajar to answer my questions and concerns before and after the surgery. I was very happy that I was able to send email inquiries anytime and get prompt and informative replies rather than having to schedule an appointment. He is very attentive and personally engaged with his patients. While I hope to not need his services again, I would recommend him to anyone and would choose him should I need such a surgery again. Beyond his professional skill, he is positive, good humored and seems to love his work. I wish that all of the medical professionals that I have dealt with were willing to use email as he encouraged me to do.

Dr. Adajar removed a growth from the back of my head. He and his staff were entirely professional and thorough in their work. They set up a clear follow-​up schedule and instructions about my recovery process. He has been open with his scheduling and has an excellent bedside manner.

Dr. Adajar removed a rather large cyst from my leg earlier this month. He was professional, humorous and inspired confidence when first meeting him as well as the day of the surgery. I was impressed… they wanted me at the hospital at 9 for a 10:00 surgery. I got there at 8:30 (figured I could do some reading) and they had me in and out and back in my vehicle by 9:30. It was a great experience. Dr. Adajar is very good to following up with my emailed questions and check-​ins. Highly recommend his services if you need someone to cut into you.

I went to Dr. Adajar when I was told I had gallstones. The wait in his office is very reasonable and not very long. Dr. Adajar came in and said to call him «Marc,» which I thought was a really nice touch. I really liked his bedside manner. He’s very personable and real. He is not a robot. I had my gallbladder out a month later. I like that Dr. Adajar encourages e-​mailing him and he always responded very quickly to any e-​mail correspondence. It was so much preferable to calling an office and leaving a message with a secretary. The surgery went well and I couldn’t really have asked for a better physician. I feel so much better afterwards and I really liked that Dr. Adajar was so available to me. I would highly recommend!

Over the years I have developed an umbilical hernia that I finally realized I needed taking care of and my Personal Doctor recommended Dr. Adajar. I am happy he did.
I went in for a consultation in early January and did not have to wait to long before he came to talk to me. He was very personable and down to earth. He told me exactly what would need to be done and said he could do it for me if I wanted. He gave me a brochure talking about himself, his experience and his practice. He also said to phone or e-​mail him at anytime and he would get back with me as soon as possible. This he always did within a twelve hour period anytime I had a question about the upcoming surgery or post-​op questions.
I then would sit with his Aunt who took care of all the insurance matters and all surgery scheduling and they went out of their way to set the day of the surgery on the day I asked for. I was given ample instructions to know what was needed of me up until the day of surgery such as diet concerns or certain medications I could not take.
On the day of the surgery March 5^th. I was taken to Illinois Masonic and went through pre-​op routines and then taken to wait for surgery. The nurses and residents all were very nice and considerate and even Dr. Adajar stopped by to say hi and see how I was doing as he came into the hospital still carrying his own backpack. The guy always has a smile on his face and that puts you more at ease.
I was taken into surgery and a masked was placed over my face and within a few minutes I was asleep and before you know it being woken up. All was done and went very well.
I now was officially in post-​op where all my needs were attended to including making sure I did not experience more pain than I could handle. I was probably in post op for maybe an hour then I was released and told to call or e-​mail with any concerns. I did a follow up with him at his office eleven days later and he took the time to make sure my work knew that would need extra time off to recover.
I am very glad that I was able to get a Doctor as committed to his patients as Dr. Adajar and his exceptional and very professional staff.

Dr. Adajar has performed 3 surgeries for me in the last year to include an emergency appendictomy. He’s been incredible. I personally requested him for my last 2 voluntary procedures. He goes above and beyond and pointed out several other issues that could impact my long term health that I doubt would have been addressed by other surgeons.
How many of your drs have ever given you their email? He is constantly in contact and available before and after the surgery and instills a great deal of confidence at a time that can be very traumatic.
He and his staff are the consummate professionals. Although I am moving out of the country, I would come back to Chicago for surgery should the need arise in the future.
If there were 10 stars, that’s what I would rate him!

I had to go into the ER about a week ago for a horrible pain in my abdomen. I had already known that there was a possibility that I would have have to get my gallbladder removed based on a previous ultrasound that found multiple gallstones so walking into the ER I knew what was wrong.
Once I told the doctors exactly what was going on I mentioned to them that I had an appointment with Dr. Adajar to talk about getting my gallbladder removed and the doctors instantly had Dr. Adajar’s team assess me.
Once everyone had explained the procedure to me and let me know, in detail, what was going to happen I felt very comfortable with my decision to remove my gallbladder. But the most comfort came after speaking to Dr. Adajar. He was completely sympathetic for what I was going through and did a great job putting me at ease answering any and all questions that I had.
The day of the surgery everyone that was going to be in the OR with me was extremely polite and they all introduced themselves to me. They all did their best to help me relax and feel at ease with everything that was going on. Their patient care was WONDERFUL!!! They really did everything they could to make me and everyone around me to feel comfortable.
If I ever know of anyone else who may need a general surgery I would definitely recommend Dr. Adajar and his team! They were GREAT!!!

I recently had a small procedure by Dr. Adajar and was so pleased with the whole process. He’s down to earth and exhibits great bedside manner. As a medical professional, I recommend him highly.

Dr. Adajar deserves a ten star rating out of five. One of the most compassionate, intelligent, accessible doctor’s I’ve ever encountered. He could be the poster child for bedside manner. He not only is ²⁴⁄₇ accessible to all your questions, he was even making me laugh and kept me calm before my surgery. I couldn’t speak more highly of this doctor. God forbid you need surgery, you couldn’t be in safer hands. One of the best doctors I’ve ever had. I highly recommend him! Words are not enough in expressing my gratitude, but Thank You Dr. Adajar! Today my friend and partner had an umbilical hernia repaired by Dr Adajar. I had the same surgery and a gall bladder remove in November.
Dr Adajar is the best doctor I have ever encountered too bad other doctors could not learn how to treat patients from this wonderful doctor.
Dr Adajar and his team are friendly, compassionate very professional with a warm and kind touch. Felt today and the day I had surgery we were in the best hands of any doctor that a patient could rely on to do a perfect operation. My after surgery was painless and so far my friends is the same. Best doctor I have ever encountered. He removed my gallbladder and was warm, friendly, intelligent, and communicative. Made me feel at ease every step of the way and answered all of my questions without talking down to me, as a lot of other doctors often do. He’s just an all around great guy, and I am glad I was referred to him as my surgeon.

I saw Dr. Adajar in May for outpatient surgery. He was awesome. His office/​Advocate hospital fit me in for an office appointment within 24 hours, I had surgery about a week later and all was well again in my world. Dr. Adajar explained everything to me in both first and follow up visits — I asked a TON of stupid questions and he patiently answered all of them. He was also very reassuring the day of my surgery — as well as his team of students, nurses, etc. Everyone was so friendly that it really put my nerves at ease.
After my surgery, he followed up with a phone call as well as email. Ask yourselves, how many surgeons actually do that? He went above and beyond and definitely had that «personal touch» that Maxwell also said. My recovery was easy and my scars are tiny. He really did a great job! I’m so lucky to have had him as my doctor.

Dr. Adajar and his team were great. Very informative and reassuring throughout the entire process. Very skilled and professional, while not losing that «human touch» I had a wonderful experience with them and I would be highly recommend them to anyone!!! Thanks guys! :)

Dr. Adajar recently removed my appendix. He was the Surgeon on call at Illinois Masonic. He came in and made me feel comfortable, made some jokes, and was very professional. I recently went in for my post op appointment and when he removed my bandages I was shocked to see that the incisions were tiny! It was amazing to know that even when Dr. Adajar has to do an emergency surgery he does fantastic work. I can not believe that I will be able to wear a swim suit an not feel self conscious about my scars. I cannot say enough about how sweet and professional Dr. Adajar is.

I had to have outpatient surgery for removal of a Lipoma that was causing me some pain. Dr. Adajar was great in explaining the procedure and making sure I was at ease. In addition, his entire staff was caring and efficient and I was in and out in 4 hours! 2 days later I am healing great with no pain. I would highly recommend him and his team!
