I have been seeing Dr. Yahav and team for some time now (almost a year) and have to say that I am continually pleased with his work and his staffs excellent service!
Special mention to Millie at the front desk, as always pleasant, friendly, helpful and very knowledgable! Connie a delight and equally professional and caring. I call her and Dr. Yahav the dynamic, dental duo.

Just had two Lumineers on my front teeth and the work was very well done. They look natural and Dr. Yahav even decided to give me a free bleaching treatment so they were extra pearly white. I find him to be honest and thorough. Even when I wanted to get two more teeth done, he suggested I wait as those teeth look good and he wanted to make sure I didn’t do work that was unnecessary. So, I’m surprised by some other comments here as his staff and his skills seem top notch.

If you want a smart general dentist that pays attention to detail, Dr. Yahav is the man. I have read all of the reviews and are a bit perplexed by them. I got a routine cleaning done by Dr. Yahav. He does have a very high tech /​ultrasonic device that was used for the cleaning. It was simple, quick, and it got rid of a stain between my teeth.
I think what I appreciate about Dr. Yahav the most is the fact that he noticed an area of concern that my prior dentists never noticed — a discolored, purplish area in my mouth. He immediately referred me to a specialist, assuring me that it’s likely not cancerous but he said he wanted to be certain. The area turned out to be not cancerous and exactly what he thought — a bruising from my wisdom teeth extraction. Regardless, I appreciated his attention to detail and his concern for my well being.
I cannot comment on his dental work as it relates to fillings or other procedures. I can only comment on (i) his attention to detail = amazing, (ii) use of high tech cleaning devices = painless, does the job.

After posting my review, I received a call from Dr. Yahav apologizing and asking me to give them another chance. He invited me back for another cleaning.
This time I was seen immediately and the assistant began the whole polishing process. Dr. Yahav uses an ultrasound cleaner which works very quickly to break up big chunks of plaque. I’ve had this used on my teeth before and usually the hygienist will spend some time afterward going over my teeth.
I don’t know why they don’t hire a real hygienist, I find it odd that Dr. Yahav does the cleanings. Regardless, after using the ultrasound cleaner, I didn’t feel that he was thorough in going over my teeth with the hand held instruments. Basically, there was still plaque on my teeth. I know this because I have one spot where I always have plaque and I could see it.
I realize that they tried to make it up to me and were very nice, and gave me a coupon for another $ 40 cleaning. However, I would still rate the service at 3 stars. I’ve had much better cleanings elsewhere. Also at the end of the session, Dr. Yahav said several times, «we’re really 5 stars… a 5 star place», which just made me uncomfortable.
So why the 2 stars here?
Because several weeks after my appointment, I hadn’t updated my original review and I received another phone call from Dr. Yahav urging me to «please call me on my cell phone, please I need your help. I would really like to speak with you, I need your help.»
I found this unsettling, odd and unprofessional. It would have been fine to ask me if I was satisfied with the service, or if anything was wrong, but to leave a message repeatedly saying «please, i need your help» and asking me to call his cell phone was really bizarre. I realize that I didn’t immediately update my review, but it’s still ultimately up to the reviewer and the readers to assess the quality of the services and reviews.
I still wouldn’t recommend Dr. Yahav based on the cleaning, but definitely not after the strange phone call.

Though the work that he did on my teeth was good, I feel that Dr. Yahav talked me into getting much more expensive dental work than I needed. I had explained to him that I was not in the best financial position to pay for a lot of dental work, yet he convinced me that I needed to get new fillings — really expensive ones. I guess I should know better if I am going to see a dentist on Michigan Avenue. All I can say is, «never again!»

I went to Dr. Yahav while I was a student at Kellogg. I found that the wait times at his office were very long, my bill was miscalculated, and 1 year later, I had a crown fall apart (which my dentist in the Bay Area had to replace). I currently need to have some more of the inlays that I had done replaced. I have had three dentists examine the work performed by Dr. Yahav, and they have independently noted the work was not up to his/​her standards. Please learn from my lesson.

I came to Dr. Yahav a few years ago thinking that he was going to be a good dentist because he was located in the water tower place… big mistake! He removed my wisdom teeth and did a crown replacement. Till this day I am still having problems with the crown he put in. I had a gum lengthening procedure done so that my crown could fit properly because he did such a poor job. Very disappointed with his service and I will never go back again.

Dr. Yahav is wonderful. I have been going to him since 2003 and he has been great. His staff is wonderful, and his bedside manner is superb — attentive and friendly. I am always able to get an appointment in a timely fashion, and the technology he uses in his office is great. He is cognizant of overall oral health as well as the condition of the teeth, noting features of my mouth shape that can make flossing difficult or plaque buildup more likely and suggesting ways to counteract such problems.

My previous review was «flagged» for being to vague so let me PLEASE explain my experience with Dr. Yahav in more detail.
I have not been a patient or Dr. Yahav’s for over seven years. While that is a long time it is an experience that has stayed with me and I feel compelled to let other people know about.
I went Dr. Yahav because I had a minor toothache. I was young and listened to this dentist when he told me I needed an emergency root canal and sadly, I let him do it. Dr. Yahav did a root canal on a front tooth, # 10 to be exact. The work he preformed the most painful root canal I have ever experienced, the shot was horrible and extremely memorable. During the procedure he would twirl his hair between his fingers (like a nervous habit), what ever it was I think it was disgusting and I found his mannerisms disturbing. After he was finished I was in a ton of pain and when he left the room I took my x-​ray that he took before work was preformed on the tooth. Not only was there never anything wrong with the tooth (two dentists confirmed) but when I went to another dentist because my bite was off due to Yahav’s work I was told Dr. Yahav broke a file and left it in my mouth. I don’t know how this guy stays in practice. Go at your own risk. I have talked to several dentists over the years and they all agree he is a shady character.

I’m hardly ever on Unilocal anymore but I had to do an update. It looks like Yahav took down all his fake 5 star reviews. I seriously can’t BELIEVE this man is still in business! Thanks for all of the emails thanking me for telling the truth of his practices and saving yourself by learning through my hard lesson.
TO this day I am upset thinking about the visit.

I went to Dr. Yahav while a student at Kellogg and would not recommend going there. You’d probably be fine for a basic cleaning though he is certainly not as thorough as my dentist in San Francisco.
However, I lost a filling less than a year ago and went into Dr. Yahav’s to get it repaired. He was very hasty and rough and didn’t take very much time to make sure everything fit properly. Let’s compare: my dentist in SF makes me bite down a zillion times to make sure everything aligns correctly and is always shaving down the filling to an art. Dr. Yahav shoved the filling in my mouth (along with what felt like his fist) and had me bite down twice and sent me on my way.
The kicker? I paid for the longer lasting more expensive filling and it has already fallen out. Luckily, I’m back in San Francisco and my trusty dentist (Dr. Kenneth Fong) is on the job.
p. s. when I first looked him up on Unilocal in 2008 there were some not so stellar reviews… where’d those reviews go?

Dr. Yahav is a great dentist and a generous person. My former dentist refused to fit me in to place a cap on my fragile tooth following a root canal, and my insurance company was not covering me to see a different doctor until the following month. Dr. Yahav agreed to perform the procedure to protect my weakened tooth, and accepted what I would have paid in co-​pay, without any additional payment from the insurance company.
His office is clean, his associates are professional, and he makes time to see his patients. Overall a pleasurable dentist experience.

After months of reviewing different dentist I found Jonathan Y. Yahav & Associates. He has four different locations to choose from in Chicago, IL. I choose to go to his office in the Water tower Downtown. My first impression was very clean and wonderful staff that makes you feel at home. Dr. Yahav is a delightful professional who is very contentious and thorough. Not only does he take great care in examining your teeth, but he also examines your mouth for overall oral health. I had so much work done in my mouth from root canals to invisalign. I love my new smile and I’m so happy that I got the work done.

My family and I have been clients of Dr. Yahav’s for 15 years. Our family has had everything from veneers, to root canals, to crown procedures done at his practice and have had a very pleasant experience. The staff is very professional and friendly, the 3 offices are fully equipped, and the doctor takes time to explain the procedures he thinks are necessary. We trusted the quality of his work so much that we had our parents fly in from Russia to have their teeth done at Dr. Yahav’s office. Also, the wait is usually not very long if you have an appointment. Would definitely recommend very highly.

I would not recommend any one to this dentist. He is mostly about making money and not about the patient. He «suggest» a better option when it isn’t covered by insurance. It help with the costs of what insurance doesn’t cover, he «suggest» a dental credit card. It seems like he isn’t concerned about the patient’s needs and what works best for them financially.

Would not go again. Although the dental cleaning seems ‘hi-​tech’, its really not and was less than adequate in my opinion. I also felt kind of pushed in regards to them saying I needed to get all my fillings replaced. No I don’t.
There are many more great dentists out there. Even more old school ones would be better.

Having just read the other reviews about Dr. Yahav, I’m somewhat surprised! At a friend’s recommendation, I went in for a general check-​up and other than the very long wait (45 minutes), it was a positive experience.
Given the posh Water Tower Place location, I was expecting it to be completely expensive, but with my insurance discount the cleaning/​exam/​basic x-​rays were less than $ 175. Plus he agreed to do just the basic x-​rays because I couldn’t afford the full set –which to me was a perfect example of his NOT trying to rip me off.
When he came in to do the ultrasonic cleaning, it did feel a bit rushed and my gums were very sensitive (which I attributed to my not having gone to the dentist for 3 years)…but my teeth looked and felt great afterwards.
Maybe he’s great for basic cleanings but not if you have something wrong with your teeth? I guess that’s not entirely comforting… :/

I really like Dr. Yahav’s hygienist, but have not enjoyed being his patient for the past few years. I was pushed into getting porcelain inlays for a tooth at my first visit — I only found out after the procedure was completed that the specific inlay he used was the only one that wasn’t at all covered by my insurance!
At the last visit, he told me I should consider getting something to help get two of my front teeth in line. After he left, the tech told me that it really wasn’t necessary and that she was against it unless I wanted to throw them some money.
I have a new dentist at Complete Care Dental on the 4500 block of Archer in Brighton Park that is great. The staff are super-​friendly and she is very professional and explains everything in honest detail.

The technician was very nice and attentive. I did feel that the dentist was to aggressive in trying to convince me to do a procedure (replacing my old fillings) that I had not planned on. But I was able to get in on time and my cleaning was through. I would probaboy not go back. I miss my old, friendly, caring neighborhood dentist that I had in MI. I’m sure there are dentists in Chicago who are more like him and less pushy.

What can I say… I was fooled by the slick Michigan Ave. location and the congenial staff. I spent over $ 2500 last year (without insurance) on 4 porcelain inlays and a crown for a broken tooth. 2 of the inlays and the crown lasted me less than a year, I had to have them replaced. To quote my current Dentist who is also a Dentistry professor «It was not a good crown». It never fitted properly and he never took proper care of the tooth before putting the crown on. His sloppy work ended up creating a bigger problem with my teeth thus requiring even more dental work to fix his mistakes! Also, their dental cleaning is a joke, they may as well be charging you just to sit in their waiting room while you brush your own teeth.
