Specialties

You’re working long hours. You miss your dog and you might be feeling stressed, even a little guilty, because you’re baby’s home all that time without you. That’s where Jack & Ginger’s comes in.

We’re a fun, friendly neighborhood outfit providing the finest professional dog care in Lincoln Square. Whether your dog spends every day with us or comes in once in a while to break up the routine, we’re here. And if your dog needs regular walks, we’re there!

Day care for dogs does them good. (They are pack animals, after all.) Under our close supervision, dogs interact and play with each other, becoming socialized and leaving happy. Their days are active – although there’s plenty of time and space for a good, long nap. It’s important to note that we run a clean and green operation to safeguard your dog’s health and safety – and to contribute to a more sustainable way of life for everyone.

What’s in a Name?

A note from Andrea:

Our name, Jack & Ginger’s, is a tribute to a couple of very special canine companions. Jack was the incredibly beautiful, sweet, funny, slobbery pile of love in the form of a black lab that I grew up with. He and my father were soulmates who spoke their own language. I’m pretty sure that Jack thought they were equals while allowing my dad to think he was the alpha. Jack considered my brothers, my mom, and me to be part of his pack; he protected us, played with us, and got along with the many cats I brought home through the years. Jack lived to be 11 years old and was an important sixth member of our family every day until the last. We miss him still.

Ginger was a German shepherd that came into my dad’s world when he was only three years old and she stayed with him until he graduated high school. She walked him and his sisters to school and waited in the front yard every day for my grandfather to come home from work.

Business Owner

Andrea has over seven years of experience working in animal hospitals and shelters. After a year as a receptionist, she became a Clinical Veterinary Technician. Over the years she has worked as a Surgical Technician, Head Technician, and Hospital Manager, as well as an Emergency & ICU Technician in a variety of provider settings, including holistic, inner city, rural, and high intensity 24-hour emergency services. Andrea graduated from Westfield State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in May of 2001. In 2005 she became a Certified Massage Therapist and focused on healing humans for a while, but found that she missed working with animals. After a brief stint back in the ER, she realized that starting a dog care business would enable her to spend lots of quality time with dogs while also helping homeless and abandoned pets in a more direct manner. She moved to Chicago and Jack & Ginger’s was born!
