Fernandez Auto Glass and Repair

I’ve come here twice before with my car. They have fair prices (cheaper than expected) and efficient. I usually never wait the 2 hour time frame they give me. Like anything else, try to come in during non rush hour periods if you can. Very nice people too.

This place is fantastic! Quick service and great price. Made an annoying situation pretty painless to fix.

I can’t recommend this place enough. I’ve had three windshields replaced here and have been very happy with the results. They’re fast, cheap and done correctly.
Before my most recent visit, hubs had called around to other places to get quotes. $ 250, $ 300 at places like Safelite and Gerber. But how much was Fernandez? $ 137. Done. Dropped the car off around closing time and picked it up the next afternoon; no problems.
I will gladly get all my other work done here and recommend it to others.

The customer service was horrible! I went to fix my window and they ended up breaking something else so I can get it fixed there. Got into an argument with the lady and she ended up telling me to bring the car back so they can fix it. At least they owned up to their mistake. Save the headache and go somewhere else!

They were the best… they came to my home to fix all my car windows and they fixed my door lock… they were professional and did excellent work. I’m glad a coworker told me about them. just wonderful. I was amazed at the low prices… All I can say is WOW!

Fernandez is the place to go! I called other big name places and they wanted just about $ 300 to install and replace my windshield on my 2008 Pontiac G6. Fernandez, $ 170 installed. I waited about 45 minutes and they had the original factory windshield available.

Well, this place is aces! They are #1 quick, #2 honest, #3 trustworthy and #4 do great work!
They fixed 2 other (minor) things on my car after I paid and did not charge me! So, they are kind as well.

I went to Fernandez to repair my power window that would not go up. They fixed it very quickly and only charged $ 40 to replace the power window switch. I was very happy with their service. You also get a 90 day warranty which is really great!

I’ve been a Chicago driver for over a decade now. So the way I see it, I’m lucky that I haven’t had to enlist the Unilocal search function for auto glass until now.
I rolled into Fernandez at 8:15 on a Wednesday morning, with a garbage bag duct taped to my passenger side window frame and a car full of shattered glass. Less than an hour later, me and my girl were on the way to work with a new (to me) window and a clean interior. Grand total was less than sixty bucks! The staff was wonderful and I couldn’t be happier with my experience there.
And just in case the jerk that broke into my car is reading this… Next time you have an overwhelming urge for a bag of starmints, a couple 5 Hour Energy shots, and $ 7 or so in quarters, just open the door. *It’s unlocked!
*The beauty of driving a hooptie, is not having to lock the doors.

Found these guys via their awesome reviews on Unilocal.I called them asking for a quote, and was told it would be $ 75, please bring it down before 6pm. I figured I would pay the amount quoted, plus $ 30 –40 labor + taxes, and dropped off my car about 5pm. Since the dealership had quoted me about three times that much, I gladly rolled in.
I must admit, I was a little apprehensive at first. The body shop looks like the inside of a Sandcrawler (thats for you, Star Wars nerds), but gave my keys to the eager looking person anyway. Walked across the street to the barebecue place, had a sandwich, and came back expecting to wait another half hour. But Bammm!!, my car was already done. My total was, as quoted $ 75, out the door, labor and tax included. And the stickers on the windows even matched!!!
I hope to holy hell I never have to see you guys again, but if i do, I know you’ll do the best job in the city. Thank you so much.

Fernandez is well known by IIT students and graduates who live in Bridgeport (south of I-​55 and I-​90) and experience frequent break-​ins. That is, if we’re lucky to still have a car in the morning.
We all go to Fernandez, they make it super easy and are generally amazingly quick (if they’re not busy with servicing other windows)!
I recommend these guys every time.
I just found my old receipt a few weeks ago and I think the total was $ 65…pretty fair deal for quick and easy service.

Let me tell you a (slightly tragic, yet kind of funny) story. My old college roommate is getting married this spring, and her bachelorette party was this past weekend. Since our group of friends have dispersed around the midwest, we all (including the Louisville based bride to be) made the trek to St. Louis to reunite and send our friend off into marital bliss with a bang.
While we had a great time, the biggest bangs of the weekend were the two bangs that left both myself and the bride to be without driver’s side front windows. Yep, someone broke into our cars! Being that this occurred late Saturday/​early Sunday, there was not ONE place open in the entire St. Louis metropolitan area. The few mom and pop shops that answered their phones (although they were not performing labor that day) told me that it would be before TUESDAY before they would have the glass because many of the shops go through large distributers that have a 1 day turnaround time.
Being that I had no window and no safe haven for my windowless car, I made possibly the most bizarre (and COLD) trip up I-​55 that anyone has ever taken with several gas station stops for the purpose of pleading with strange men to help me put a bag over my open window. After the 3^rd stranger secured bag blew away on the highway, I spent a solid hour in a Walgreen’s parking lot in Springfield saran wrapping my entire door. That got me all the way home.
On Monday, I placed a call to Fernandez Auto and it went as follows:
Me: I need a front driver’s side window replaced.
Guy: What kind of car?
Me: Audi A4.
Guy: Bring it in anytime.
An hour and a half later, I had a new window. The simplicity of the exchange gets them 4 stars, but two additional things push them into perfection.
1) They are open Sundays. Had a similar place existed in St Louis, my 27 year year streak of never having a public melt down in a gas station would still be in tact.
2) The whole thing set me back $ 170 installed. And no, it wasn’t a used window. The poor bride to be laid out almost $ 500 for the same repair back in Louisville.
Having someone break in your car sucks. Once you get over the invasion of personal space, the task of repairing what some inconsiderate prick did to your vehicle (which in my case is like my child) can be of an annoyance. Fernandez gets my praise for being a simple solution to a really crappy problem.

After almost 2 years of living in the city, I’ve finally been initiated into city life with a smashed in driver’s side window and a ransacked car. It’s been a rough week… broke my ankle, can’t work because of broken ankle, and the car break in topped it off. I can’t comment on what the shop looks like since I can’t drive currently, but my boyfriend said everyone was very efficient and he was in and out in about an hour and a half. It was $ 110 for a new driver’s side window… not too bad.

The best feeling in the world? Living in Chicago for a few weeks, and walking out to your car to see your rear window smashed in at 7am.
We got online and Team Fernandez told us to come in. We got there and our window was replaced within an HOUR for only $ 60 bucks. They were friendly and the people we talk to in the lobby had been there before and had nothing but awesome things to say about them.
I only wish they did mechanical work as well!
