I organized a work get together for the Super Bowl, we had 20+ people. You wouldn’t think to watch sports there, but the TV placement was great. The bartender Alex worked with us the whole time and even let us use her ½ off pizza discount @ Pequod’s to order 6 pies. Gino, the owner, was very accommodating to the group, set up tables for pot luck, and even made his own Italian sausages & peppers. Everyone commented on what a great local place it was, and most people I talk to don’t even know about it. It’s a unique spot to keep in your back pocket.

Cool little neighborhood bar that’s dog friendly and doesn’t get too crowded. My kind of place. TV’s, pool table, darts and a few different areas to the bar.

One of the best bars in Chicago. Relaxed atmosphere, incredible outside area and overall fun place to chill with friends and play some darts. Make sure to bring cash as cash only, but the drinks are cheap and easy.

Dog-friendly as advertised, people-friendly as a bonus. Shot-and-a-beer type of place with corkboard darts, pool table, and a patio with room for bags. Great place, awesome name.

I really like Cody’s because it’s the closest bar that allows dogs! This bar is actually really big and although it is cash only, they have a bunch of good deals. I always come here when I just want to come to chill out and play darts, pool, or golden tee. They even have a large outdoor area where there are darts also. My dog is a fan too

Great divey-type bar in the city, never even knew it existed until tonight and will say that it’s a place I will remember to come back.

Cody’s is the epitome of what a bar should be. They emphasize cheap beers, jukebox music, and free darts while you booze with friends. It’s a gem, a true gem. If you’re looking for a laid back place to kick it on a weekday night or weekend during the day, there’s no place better.

I’ve been here a few times with friends and a pup in tow. We always have a good time, although service can be hit or miss. It’s a chill little neighborhood dive with cheap drinks, pool and darts and dogs everywhere! Definitely not a place to hang if you’re allergic or dislike dogs for some reason. I would come here just to drink and pet all of the dogs! The place is pretty big and they have a patio, although I’ve only come on cold days so I haven’t checked it out. Cash only and they don’t have food, but you’re free to bring your own or wait to be graced by the Tamale Man’s presence. I was here last weekend and surprised to see a lot of pups, despite the canine flu going around. They all seemed healthy though. I’d give this place four stars, but the two female bartenders were terrible. It was pretty packed and one was alone for a bit and spent more time looking for liquor bottles than making drinks. She may have been new and seemed overwhelmed, but she also wasn’t paying attention to people at the bar. I was there before a few guys, but they were attended to first. The second one rolled her eyes and slammed down a cup of water when I asked for it. Hey it was the end of the night and I needed to hydrate myself!

Dog friendly bar– I’m in! On top of that they have great prices and the friendliest staff there is! We are sunday regulars and during football season they go out of there way to make our game is on! Not a Bears fan(sorry!) nothing fancy– but they let you order food from anywhere! Which is great and affordable!

I used to live right next door to this place and its a great dive bar and great to go to in the summer. They have all the drinking aspects of a local bar(darts, pool table, even corn hole). The owner regularly is in the joint so thats cool. They have a great outdoors area to hang out in until late evening when curfew makes everyone have to come in. The staff is always friendly. I will say a flaw is you have to pay cash(atm in the bar). They used to not car AB beers but i had heard that might be changing. If you’re in the area i highly recommend stopping in

The older I get, the more this bar fits me. My wife and I are in our early 30’s, live about 4 blocks from here and have a dog. We stop into Cody’s from time to time when we are out on a walk with the dog and make ourselves at home out back for a while. I’ve lived in Chicago for 7 years and very much consider it my home, but there are times that I miss hanging out by a firepit or playing bags/darts with friends. This gives me my fill of feeling like I’m just hanging out in a backyard for a few hours. It’s low key, and wouldn’t want it any other way. Love this place. Cash only, no food(other than the pretzels on the bar) but prices are super low and a great beer selection.

I LOVE this place. It is the cutest neighborhood bar with amazing drink specials and I have so much fun playing pool and darts here! I love the bartender Kate, she is so fun and nice! She is part of the reason I even come here. She always has a smile on her face! Keep up the amazing work Kate! Love Cody’s and the regulars that come here.

Ok, this place was pretty cool. Darts, bags(cornhole, whatever you want to call it), and dogs are present. So it looks like you can bring your dog to a bar! This, in my mind, is one of the greatest ideas ever… if you’re a dog person. I would watch out while walking around, the dart boards are haphazardly placed throughout the inside of the bar, so make sure you don’t walk into any lines of fire! The best part about this bar is the patio. It’s a great place to hang out, play darts, watch and games on tv, play some bags, whatever! It’s a large space, and I really enjoyed hanging out there, but I think they closed it prematurely while I was there. It must have only been around midnight when they had everyone move inside(maybe because the bar is in a residential area). However, I thoroughly enjoyed the outside while I was there!

Imagine a friend’s house who was always welcoming, and always had good people over for drinks. The perks: Dog-friendly. Indoor and outdoor(steel tip) darts. A quality 5-burner grill outside, bring your own food to cook. And then there are the little things that people overlook, like the overabundance of coat-hooks. You’ll never have to leave your bag or coat on a chair, there are more hooks than seats.

Decent beer selection + dog friendly + über laid back atmosphere = My Kind of Place! My neighbor had been talking about this place for a while now. Finally, we had an excuse to take our pups here. It was City Dog Maggie’s first birthday and I needed a place, other than my small city pad, to celebrate with my friends and their canine companions. Cody’s was perfect. The bartender was not only friendly, but a dog-lover herself. Maggie and her BFF Lucy got a lot of love from other patrons. It was really hard not to like this place. There is a room off the side of the bar that was big enough for a group of my friends and their dogs. Unfortunately, we could not close the door and let the dogs roam off leash due to city ordinance. Too bad… While the weather is nice, it is worth the trek from my place to Cody’s. Maggie and I will definitely be checking in here on our evening strolls!

This. Freaking. Bar. Dark and dingy on the inside(with a slight musk to it). Incredible patio on the outside with metal-tipped darts, bags, and a grill. I wish they offered weekly beer specials like most other neighborhood bars because they have a solid lists of crafts.

I heart Codys! I’ve been here a number of times over the years and have always loved it. I decided to host my birthday party here this year and it was one of the best party planning decision’s I have ever made, all my guests were huge fans!!! It was a gorgeous summer night, perfect for enjoying all Cody’s outdoor area has to offer. They really have something for everyone with their ample seating, dartboard, grills and bags. The best part of the outdoor area is that you do not feel like you’re at a bar, it really does feel like someone’s back yard! The drinks and prices at Cody’s are pretty average, nothing special to report. It’s really the ambiance that attracts me to Cody’s. They even allow dogs inside the bar and the night of my birthday party there were more than a few camped out inside while their owners enjoyed some beverages and good times. Now that I have shown all of my close friends and family how great Cody’s is I am pretty sure we’ll be frequenting the spot this summer, everyone wants to try the grill! PS: Remember Cody’s is cash only!
