Burrows Moving is incredible. A few weeks ago, a friend of mine was moving and I was helping her in the process. The task was daunting — but Burrows made it a breeze.
These guys are professional and truly work as a team. They seem to have a set method, and were always on the same page. They worked quickly and efficiently — and got the job done right. They accommodated all of our requests. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone.

I just completed a move with Burrows. My situation was very difficult in that I had a freight elevator reserved and the management co is very hard to work with. I also couldn’t get in to my new place until the next day so it was a two day move. Most movers wouldn’t accommodate this. Burrows did. They were going to charge an agreed upon rate of $ 100 to keep the items on the truck over night. They were a little late on my move out due to a previous job so they offered to waive the overnight fee which I appreciated. They did a great job with a limited amount of time. I would use them again.

I’m a little over a year late in writing this but still wanted to say how great these guys were.
My mom moved out from our childhood home to her new place in Racine, Wi, she’s an artist, a collector and the least bit organized. The apartment complex she moved into had very strict policies regarding loading and these guys were so respectful that the apartment complex couldn’t stop talking about how delightful they were.

Had Evo and Brad help my mother and me move out of a third floor walk up. I was their second move of the day. They were polite and quick. They packaged my last items up for me and put furniture back together. We could not have done the stairs without them.

Incredible service. I went in to purchase boxes and was not sure what sizes I need so they showed me all of the sizes. Very affordable boxes and very genuine personal staff. I would 100% advice anyone who is looking for boxes or a moving service to go here.

Was recommended to burrows by a friend of mine. Was a little hesitant at first because I normally pack my move myself. I must say this was an amazing experience. We had a big job. Guys came and boxed up and packed everything. I didn’t have to touch one thing. They were fast and efficient and treated my stuff like theirs. They were very professional and I was able to trust them instantly with my belongings. I downsized to a smaller home so decided to go with their storage as well. There prices are very reasonable compared to other places in the area. Would highly recommend them!!! Thanks Burrows. Can’t wait to use your services again when needed.

The good, the bad and the ugly.
This was the 5^th time I’ve used Burrows, and definitely the last. Be informed: Burrows is under NEW management and they do not have their act together at all. In fact, after booking my move date 6 weeks in advance, they called to confirm the wrong date! They used to employ uniformed guys who clearly were full time employees who did this for a living. No more, it seems. So all the awards, etc you see on Angie’s List and BBB, it’s old stuff and does not reflect current service level. There are maybe two office employees remaining from the old management. If you want to do business with them, talk to Karen, she knows what she’s talking about.
Moved boxes and furniture on Aug 26, 2014 from 5-​room unit to 4-​room unit to just across the street. Agreed with them in advance that it was best to load a standard truck from back of first building and drive around block and park and unload in front of new building, rather than try to move items by crossing the street from one building to the other.
Starting with the bad: truck and crew of 4 arrived on time, at the «move to» rather than the «move from» address; fortunately, it was just across the street. Yet in this business, time is money, so the start time was probably not really the start time, as they had to drive around the block and back into the «move from» driveway.
The ugly: these guys were in a hurry and careless. I never trust movers who arrive in sneakers. Before the ONE fragile item I left for these movers was even wrapped, the crew chief backed into it and smashed it to bits. A family-​heirloom (1930’s) floor lamp of about 6′ encased in etched glass. I couldn’t breathe. Irreplaceable, gone forever. No point in making a scene. I was left to clean up hundreds of shards of glass while crew continued to zip through wrapping other things. Also, found coffee table was chipped in moving. They chipped and scraped hallway paint in both locations.
I did not purchase Burrow’s more expensive insurance, went with their .30 per pound for damage. But again, for the lamp, $ 5.00 would not have been much. I tipped these guys generously considering they were not the professional movers I had experienced with Burrows in the past. They were nice enough, but I didn’t hire them for their niceness. I’d go for surly competence over incompetent niceness.
The good: The day after the broken lamp, Burrows called to take $ 150 off the cost of the move. This was for the broken lamp and also because I phoned them first and said Angie’s List and Unilocal would hear about this careless unprofessionalism. So I am grateful for their understanding and compassion. Still, I should have done with this lamp what I did with all my other fragile items: move them myself.

Best moving experience EVER. I had to move 3 times within 18 months. My review will focus on Burrows and not the other two — one of which was beyond awful with the owner denying to Unilocal that he’d done business with me when I posted a negative review.
At any rate, my team consisted of Ken, Mike, Sam and I’m blanking on the other man’s name. They were beyond awesome. They came in and took ownership of the move. Nothing was broken. They were the consummate professionals — asked where I wanted things placed. They were careful with my plants. They were polite yet friendly. They even came on time as I recall and phoned me to let me know they were on their way. They were also quick — there was no dawdling to eat up time.
If I ever have to move again — and I hope it’s no time soon — I will call and specifically ask for this crew. I’m sure I’ll remember the fourth name after I post this.

We used Burrows to move from Rogers Park to Evanston. Movers were on time. Worked REALLY REALLY HARD the whole time they were on the job… could have eased up a bit and cost us more, but they didn’t. Moved everything with care; warned us about a plant and an old/​not-​so-​good piece of furniture; everything survived. Put stuff where we wanted it, including arranging a few pieces in different places… so when they left, our place actually felt like home. All three of the crew were professional, but also engaging. If it were possible to make moving fun, they did! And reasonable pricing, too – a way better experience than other moves we’ve had, but less cost. Strongly recommend them!

Used them yesterday (Sept 25 2014). All my stuff was in a storage, and I was moving to a 3 story walk up. I had to move out of my last place fast so my packing was done pretty half assed (garbage bags, plastic crates, etc.) and I had a bunch of crap I was planning to get rid of but I ended up having to put my stuff in storage asap and didn’t have time to do so. So they ended up having to move a bunch of junk and a lot of it half ass packed, but they did it all in about 4hrs:). Personally I didn’t find their prices unreasonable… I’ve never used a moving company before but I liked the job they did and the number they gave at the end so no complaints, and I even added a tip. I would for sure use this company again and recommend them to others

We had a small move which we needed to schedule on short notice. Called several companies and Burrows had an opening for our date. Since our choices were limited and Unilocal reviews were good, we went with Burrows and are very glad we did. This was a move from the north side of Chicago to a far south suburb, so we had two «teams» of family members, one at each end. What could have been tricky turned out really well, thanks to Burrows. We had one glitch in that our start time was initially set for 9:30 am; within a day or two we changed it to 8. That change was made and confirmed with Annette. Then a few days before the move we confirmed it a second tme, with Steve. Unfortunately that time change slipped through the cracks somehow, and the actual move team planned to arrive at 9:30. But because THEY were conscientious, they arrived (what was for them, early) at 9. So, an hour’s delay in getting started. But everything else went so smoothly, and the movers were so efficient and courteous, that I still highly recommend Burrows. Great job!

I used Burrows to move from a one bedroom elevator building to a one bedroom, second floor walk up on June 26, 2014. They showed up on time with a 3 man crew. They completed the job in 5.25 hours. The hallway is too narrow for my couches but they found a way to move them in over the balcony! Impressive.
Wardrobe boxes, tape, quilts, blankets and shrink wrap were all included in the price. They were not the cheapest quote I received but they had no extra fees besides the 1 hour charge for travel to and from.
There were no surprises. My furniture arrived with no damage. The movers were professional and respectful. I would recommend then to anyone!

Truthfully these guys are the best!!! They have helped me quite a few times now and have never let me down!

I hired these guys to move my furniture — including an upright piano from a second floor apartment to a different second floor apartment.
My moving day rolled around and happened to hit on one of the coldest days of the year. Everything was getting canceled, and I was basically waiting for the call that they would cancel the move.
Well, they did not! They actually showed up early! They worked really hard and quickly, they didn’t complain at all, they were respectful of my things, they even asked me where I wanted them to put each box/​piece of furniture when we got to my new place.
As for the piano, they obviously have that down to a science. I’ve moved this thing all over the place, and it is always extremely stressful. But not this time! They moved it with so much ease, I just couldn’t believe how quickly they brought it up and down the stairs!
I DEFINITELY recommend these guys — especially if you have a piano. Probably the best moving experience I have had in Chicago.

They did a huge move for us and did a very good job. Everyone introduced themselves by name and the team of 8 guys worked well together and were fun and nice. They padded things well. They problem solved a tight door. I highly recommend. Time and estimate were good.

I used these movers recently for a piano move into my new condo. I had checked out their website and, after watching the video, was confident that they were the people I wanted to entrust moving my 5’10″ grand into the new place.
They were very professional over the phone, and I had no problems booking a move about a month in advance for a weekend day. I told them the dimensions of the piano and of the elevator and the gentleman knew immediately how they would be moving it (keyboard facing down). That calmed my nerves immediately — I was imagining it being lifted through the patio via crane.
On the day of the move, Burrows called to make sure we were still on time for the 2 p.m. move. We asked if they could move it up to 1:30 (since we were surprisingly running early) and they said yes, but they didn’t arrive until 2. At least they were still «on time.»
The move happened SO FAST! I was really pleased with that fact. They put it together and moved it exactly how I wanted it set up in about 5 — 10 minutes. However, two of the three gentleman had already headed down to the truck to leave and the third was getting the paperwork when I started playing to make sure it sounded good — and it didn’t. One of the pedals was clearly sticking, and it would have been easy to tell if they had tested it in anyway except a glissando. I’m wondering how the piano moving experts can leave without testing it more thoroughly. To their credit, they knew what to fix and were able to do so in a short period of time. So, in any case, I would still use Burrows again for a piano move, and I would just be sure to test the keys again before they leave.
On an interesting note, they ask that you pay in cash if the move is under $ 1000. That was by far my largest ATM withdrawal ever…

I used these guys for a move in mid-​July. A crew of four worked HARD and fast to load my apartment and storage space into a rental truck for my interstate move. Could not be happier with the hard work and great attitude. No damage to my stuff, done in less time than expected (less than their 4-​hour minimum). And, oh yeah, it was over 100 degrees out and these dudes did. not. stop.
And one of them had a fantastic mullet, which was a nice bonus.

These guys were nice enough, if expensive for the type of move that I had. When the moving of my stuff out of my condo and down to the truck was substantially complete, it took them a good couple of hours to get from the building I was moving from to the building where my storage unit was located for some inexplicable reason. This was highly surprising as I had a comparatively small move and when I left my condo building to go to the storage building before the office over there closed, 95% of my stuff had been wrapped with moving blankets or packed in boxes and moved down to their truck.
It was a one bedroom condo, so it isn’t like it was an unusually large move, and if they were organizing and securing my stuff in the back of their truck, then it shouldn’t have taken them two hours to do so. For the avoidance of doubt, my storage unit was less than three miles away, so it wasn’t a long drive. I can never be sure whether I’m right or wrong, but unless I’m missing something here, it felt like the movers were trying to run up the bill.

I used these guys on July 11, 2010. Over all I thought they were very good. They would have been great for some minor issues.

They brought extra boxes for those items that some how don’t find their way into boxes
They brought cardboard wardrobes so I didn’t have to pack my hanging closes.
They moved me from a garden unite to a 3 floor walk-​up in 5 hours in really hot conditions.
Cons:
I hired 4 guys only 3 showed up. The manager said, he was hung over from the night before.
They broke a ceiling fan that was in my old condo. It was on when they were moving something and lifted it too high and broke off some of the blades.
They left garbage in my old condo. I found used McD’s cups and cardboard roles from tape they used. I have bought water for them because it was so hot and I found empty plastic bottles around my new apartment complex.
Almost perfect, but not quite. I would hire them again.
Just called these guys for another move. I used them before. I am moving from my third floor apartment to a first floor apartment in the same building so my mother doesn’t have to climb up 3 floors to my place. She is disabled.
I called for a quote the guy quoted me around 320. But he wanted to move somethings around, so he said he would call me back to confirm. He called me back and the quote went up to 450. 450 bucks to move me down two floors in the same building. I canceled. I think they upped the quote because it was such a small job. They also told me it was a 2 hour minimum. When he called me back it was 3 hours. I would used these guys are bigger moves but no small ones.
