How is this place in business? It’s so cheap. I got the spaghetti with meat sauce for under 10 dollars. It’s the same level as olive garden so don’t expect al dente noodles and robust sauce. It’s that awesome diner spaghetti you crave once in a while. First off I got it to go… the container weighed like 5 lbs no exaggeration they give you so much. On top of that the lady gave me a togo soup cup and a small togo container and told me to get soup and salad to go. Peoples recommendation to get the veggie soup was right. It’s good. The salad bar is accommodating as well. The inside décor is really dated. But Dennis greets you, the staff are friendly, and the portions are huge. The business model doesn’t make sense… low prices … large portions, but I guess there is a reason you can see the parking lot packed on some nights.

This place is definitely tailored to a specific audience, 60+ but overall the staff was very pleasant. The only things I could recommend for this place is a nice face-lift and more natural made food, or felt as if the mashed potatoes were straight out of the box and green beans straight out of the can. The saving grace really is the staff, very friendly and I never had to ask for anything. Lots of potential here.

Very old and outdated feel and appearance… cheap fake flowers everywhere… not very clean… food slightly over priced but pretty average. My toddler kept trying to be friendly with the waitress and she never acknowledged him, even though he was speaking clearly and loudly, and made every effort to get her attention.

I have been waiting to review this restaurant because I have a close relationship with one of the waitresses(why I come in), but I can’t say I have ever had a great experience. I don’t think I’ve ever even had a good experience. It feels like walking into the before portion of a Restaurant Impossible episode. The owner has a table where he sits to get his work done, scattered with papers complimented by a coffee cup ring. The salad bar only has iceberg lettuce(yes, I’m a lettuce snob), the celery is sitting in a pool of water, as is the feta. It’s apparent that these items are being kept fresh as they aren’t consumed very quickly. The banquet room has bench seating that looks like it has been collecting crumbs for years. Also, as a new mom, not having a changing table in the bathroom really makes things more complicated when I go out(and usually makes me avoid a repeat visit). My dinner was meh — but I did give them a second star because the New England Clam Chowder was tasty. It’s very easy to overheat a milk base and curdle it, which was far from true in this case. The creaminess was perfect without being too heavy and the flavor was good. I would recommend a little hot sauce, but you can enjoy it without. Apparently this restaurant was popular in its day. Unfortunately it’s no longer 1990. Seriously, can we nominate them for Restaurant Impossible? I think a menu revamp, décor update and a little publicity could really help this place out.

Churchland & Western Branch so badly need some American fare restaurants. This place could be a star if given some effort. The atmosphere is strained to say the least. Desperately in need of updating. The food is not bad & the specials are reasonably priced. Get a to go order. You might be better off going next door to Wawa’s & ordering a sandwich.

Perfectly suited for the elderly café crowd. The steak was subpar, overcooked and poorly seasoned. The spaghetti is bland in order to not offend anyone’s tastes. It simultaneously won’t please anyone either. They need to do away with the steakhouse moniker and accept their Mayberry identity. I would recommend this place to my grandparents for a 4:30 dinner.

Been eating here for over twenty years. Never had a bad experience. The prices are right and the portions are HUGE! You can eat for two days for what you pay for one meal.(Anything on the menu with«a la Dennis» on the end is going to fill you up!) No, it’s not fancy dining, and the décor is… well, rustic, but the focus is on the FOOD, and that’s what’s important. The owner himself is often on-site, greeting customers. Very nice personal touch.

Good ol’ Unilocal.Had I not done a restaurant search for places near my hotel I would have never gone here. It’s located in a ordinary looking strip shopping center that thankfully was only 2/10ths of a mile from my hotel. The interior is nothing fancy. Lots of booths and tables and standard painting on the wall that looked like they may have come from one of those«starving artists» shows. I came for lunch and ordered the baked spaghetti with meatballs. This came with a trip to the salad bar, which while certainly wasn’t a Golden Corral style in variety had enough choices for a nice salad. Meal was ready with minimal waiting. Surprisingly large sized order! Loved the gooey cheese that had been baked over the top of the dish. Good flavor with the meat sauce and pasta. Meal was more than I could eat at one time, so the waitress not only brought me a to go container, but took it in the kitchen and wrapped the box in plastic and then put it into a grocery bag to make it easier to transport. Nice local eatery that I shall try again next time I am in that area.

Great little place. You can actually go there and breath now that the smoking ban is in effect. Very rough looking, but food is good and well priced.

Soup and salad for lunch! This is another old school style restaurant on Western Branch Blvd, I seem to have a knack for finding them. The food is good and the staff is a riot!

Good food, priced right and too large portions. Not fancy, but who needs that when they provide all the rest. Recommend Dennis’ very highly.

Went there around 9PM. Waiting staff was friendly and seated me quickly. Ordered there porterhouse with salad bar. They ran out of rice so got green beans instead. Salad bar spread was good and soup bar was available too. Steak was ordered medium rare but not cooked properly. Part of the meat looked like it had been boiled and not juicy. The rare portions were a red line cutting the meat in 2. The home made bread was delicious but not good enough to go back again. Also, the décor was lacking an inviting quality.

Pretty traditional mom and pop style diner. Both times we went in they had run out of the«special». One time it was roast chicken — great waitress was able to get one serving of special, but not second. But she had other good recommendations. That said the roitisere chicken was very good and well prepared. Lots of comfort food and all those traditional favorites. Very very family friendly.

The food is decent and they give you a large portion. The décor really needs to be updated. Really! A lot of the booths have torn seats. And they have these tacky flower arrangements that are for sale. It’s kind of funny, really. But, seriously, if you want a decent home cooked meal then go there. Just don’t expect to be wowed by the ambiance.

This restaurant serves Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. After reading the year old reviews we decided to have dinner here last night to give this place a fresh and updated look. We’re staying in a motel a few doors away and Dennis’ Spaghetti and Steak is the best part of our weeks biz trip here. If we had eaten here sooner, I know we would have tried all three of the meals during our visit. We had the Baked Spaghetti and the Meat Ravioli, both are excellent and very yummy for our tummy and my husband agreed with another review, the baked spaghetti«is to die for». All entrée’s come with soup and salad bar. The food is ALL homemade and fresh tasting unlike other Italian restaurants we’ve gone to. They have a huge menu and will be more than happy to accommodate your requests if you want a different sauce, etc. The restaurant inside is older diner style, clean and open feeling. If your one of those that are put off by inside or outside appearance then you’ll really be missing out on some great, satisfying REAL family style Italian food. The wait person Audrey was very nice and helpful and it shows she enjoys working here. This place obviously hasn’t changed over time… «if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it». It’s well worth the trip and won’t break your wallet. This will be the place we’ll stop for a great meal whenever we’re in the area or passing through. Give this place a try, you won’t be disappointed. It was great to meet Dennis and see that he eats here too!

I have been going to Dennis steak house ever since I was a baby. My whole family has always been huge fans of this place and we have followed Dennis around from location to location. When I was little I don’t remember what I got to eat, but now I know what I love there. They have great baked spaghetti; actually all of their pasta is really good. They also have a good salad bar and soup bar — try the vegetable soup! My mom usually gets hamburger steak here and mashed potatoes and my brother always gets a cheeseburger or a pizza. So basically there is something here for everyone. Even Dennis himself is occasionally at the restaurant these days. So if you want a place with tons of options, all of which are good, I recommend checking out Dennis’.

A-Mazing pasta and pizza! It’s very rare a vegetarian would love a steakhouse, but the spaghetti side of things makes this restaurant a win for everyone. Their portions are enormous and all of the dishes are top quality and authentic but at really good prices. You would pay twice as much at fancier Italian restaurants for half of the portion. Their baked spaghetti is to die for – topped with massive amounts of provolone cheese. They have so much on the menu: eggplant parm, greek style linguine with feta and cheese pizza are my favorites. Of course, there is steak and seafood if that’s your thing. For lunch, they have an impressive soup and salad bar. They also have a full breakfast menu. Dennis’ is a bit out there in Chesapeake near Suffolk. If you don’t live too close by, it’s worth a drive. You can’t beat this place!
