Very good coffee and desserts. I’ve been there on my own and with a tutor, have had great service and food every single time. Parking can be a little scary/scarce but it’s Central Ave. The same can said of most of the area. I just found out there’s one closer to me in South End so I look forward to checking them out.

Novas is really convenient being right in plaza midwood on central and their coffee is really good(hot and iced). I like that they changed their flavored coffees daily. Sometimes they don’t have enough people working at once and will occasionally get a line piling up. Their chocolate croissants and all the baked goods I’ve tried have been phenomenal. Parking is around the side and they are really sweet about it if you need to walk around the neighborhood and leave your car there after grabbing a coffee or something… I like this location the best.

Gal at the counter was so sweet and helpful! Very fresh baked goods and hot coffee. A nice treat.

The pastries are stale and so extremely bland. Not good at all. Too bad there are no amazing German or true French bakeries in Charlotte. Amelie’s is ok but too mass processed looking and tasting. I would definitely never purchase from bland Nova again.

I love supporting local businesses, but didn’t love this one. Granted, I didn’t get a bunch of stuff — just a regular coffee and an éclair — but both were disappointing. The coffee — fine, if it’s not a fancy coffee, it’ll do. But they charge more than a dollar for refills, which is super-weird as every other coffee place allows for free refills. As a dessert lover, I was deeply saddened by my éclair. It was dry and tasteless. Give me flaky! Give me tons of chocolate and cream! Okay, if the treat isn’t satisfying, at least present it well — I asked for a plate instead of a carry-out box and got… a small styrofoam plate. Not even a real plate, Nova’s? Come now, you can splurge for a plate for 25 cents at Goodwill! Use the coffee-refill money you’re making. The last thing on my checklist is great atmosphere if all else fails, but alas… this didn’t do justice to the«cozy independent bakery» scene. Super small space, no special decorations, though I did like the little book section. Sorry, Nova’s! I’ll be looking elsewhere for my bakery fix.

Novas is a cute little bakery in Plaza Midwood with other locations around the city as well. The environment and displays are rustic. What I’ve had: Coffee — Good quality, hot, but they charge for a 2nd refill(Amelie’s does not). Danishes — pretty tasty, I’ve had a pastry cream filled one and it was good. Apple Turnover– The filling was good, but I could tell the dough was made with shortening, instead of butter, which for me killed the flavor. Croissant– Good, but the flakiness is not up to par. Seating is limited, and I can’t recall there being music. Free wifi, but it wasn’t great last time I went. Overall, they have good products and friendly staff.

Went here on a whim for after dinner treats last night. Unfortunately, the cookies we got were stale and very underwhelming. We also got in this area black and white brownie that was OK at best. To give this place credit, I know they do a lot of business with their rolls breads that are quite good but perhaps are not the place to go for treats.

Nova definitely gets 5 stars from me. I’m addicted to their cheesecake. It’s amazing! I see a lot of people order hot and iced coffee However I’ve never tried one. The staff is very friendly and attentive to every customer. In a very nice area. They do have indoor and outdoor seating available. A must try!

Just completely unorganized. Out of coffee more often than not when I am there. You can wait 15 minutes for a muffin while the staff tries to figure out what’s going on. Good bakery. Horrible service.

Walked over to Nova’s after brunch at Zada Jane’s. This was my first visit and I was a bit wary after reading the previous Unilocal reviews. However, I was pleasantly surprised. There is a wide variety of goodies to choose from: breads, cookies, pies, cakes, and beverages to wash it down. I decided on a slice of strawberry shortcake cake to go. It’s pre-sliced and packaged in a plastic container inside the refrigerated display case. The service was friendly & fast(note: I was the only person in the store. Perhaps because it was a holiday?) Once home, I cracked open my treat and it was as delicious as I hoped it would be. The strawberry filling wasn’t overly sweet; the cake was moist; the whipped filling/frosting was perfect. I will definitely be back to try more!

Favorite bakery. I used to travel over 20 mins just to come here for the bread. It’s cheap and they usually have good customer service. Can sometimes be a bit slow. I’m pretty sure everything I’ve ever had from Nova’s has been good.

Every Nova’s experience is a bland one. The service is slow, the products mediocre. It’s more like you are interrupting them when you come in to order something. My coffee or tea is always served too hot to drink. I usually have to wait an hour before I can drink it, which kills the point of a quick before work stop. I ordered a cake, and the girl took 5 minutes to close the plastic container it was sitting in for hours anyway. Illusion of freshness not accomplished. My friend ordered hot apple cider and she watched them open a jug of plain apple juice and put it in the microwave. I hope a better coffee shop takes it’s place, because it’s the perfect spot for one.

This place could be awesome. I keep waiting for a «got to tell ya about» experience that never happens. Convenient and in keeping with the vibe of Plaza/Midwood, their coffee is just OK, and I find most of their pastry choices dry and lacking bold flavors. Maybe having someone making breakfast sandwiches could move the dial.

I wasn’t wowed by anything here despite their having been on television. I ordered a brownie and a slice of lemon cake, which were okay but certainly not mind-blowing. I’m always looking to be wowed so maybe my expectations are too high. I won’t say I’d never go back. I would – I was just expecting a little bit more is all.

My husband and I now live close enough to Nova’s that we enjoy hoping on our bikes and grabbing a pastry. I must admit, this is the second week in a row. At least we burn calories on the way there and back. Last weekend my husband got the cinnamon apple scone which was fairly good and went well with his tea. I got a plain croissant. That was so good and fresh. Today, we went back and wanted a bagel. They were out if those by 9 as well as croissants. We went with a princess doughnut to share. It’s a giant cream puff. Yum. They also offer rolls, loafs, cake slices, cookies and fresh coffee inside. I think it opens early at 6:30 as well.

Lovely service, I like my coffee with a laugh or two. Very personable and the iced coffee is wonderful on these hot summer days!

Meh. No macaroons. Cold standoffish worker seemed mad about something. Rolled his eyes multiple times and got angrier the more questions we asked him, even after we apologized explaining it was our first time here. It didn’t really make sense, but the food, coffee, or hot chocolate wasn’t worth going back to possibly receive an attitude with. Just stopped in on our way to Sadu, won’t be returning. We ordered a lemon bar, a chocolate chip muffin, a small hot coco, and a medium decaf mocha coffee. Which came up to about $ 10.18 not really worth it. I really wanted to like this place because it’s on my way to school too. Darn.

Nothing special that stand out to me, just a regular coffee shop down the road. I ordered the coffee of the month«white chocolate raspberry chilled». It has a good flavor, but just overly sweet for my taste. i was going to try the raspberry cheesecake cookie, but $ 1 for a tiny cookie is too much for me. And they only have one guy taking order and making drink at the same time, so I waited 15 minutes for a drink. The plus side is that they have all sorts of bread, from garlic & rosemary focaccia to French sour dough. I would stop by again if I happened to be near here, but wouldn’t travel my way out here just for it.
