My third time at this salon after having two positive experiences left me in tears and disbelief. Even my teenaged son asked what happened to my hair! My cut was not what I asked for (face framing layers to get rid of the weight) but was completely uneven with multiple levels of hair lengths and a hole in the side of my hair. The front of my length of hair was 3 inches shorter than the back of my head. My stylist was way overbooked, with one still having her hair cut as I was seated in the next chair and another arriving for her appt as I was being blown dry. Which made me feel as if I was not getting my stylist full and undivided attention since she was instructing her multiple assistants about other clients as she was cutting/​coloring my hair. I went in 2 days later to show another stylist after calling and noting my concerns and she agreed my cut was «not what usually happens» in the salon or with this particular stylist. I also felt as if I was being watched and talked about from the front desk staff (pretty obvious) when I returned to show my concerns which left me uncomfortable. In all fairness the manager, after me leaving 2 messages, did refund my entire visit (cut and color) apologized for my visit & offered to fix my hair with another master stylist (I declined). Perhaps a high traffic salon is not for me so I will be looking for a less chaotic place in the future.

I will not come back to this salon. While my stylist Lauren is very talented this place has significant administrative and customer service problems. They overbook the stylists. I made an appointment for 1 pm. I arrived for my 12:45 appointment at 12:49 and I was told my stylist was running behind and that she could not perform the scheduled service. One of the receptionists was extremely rude. She scolded me for being four minutes late. I will say another one of the receptionists was very nice. The owner was at the desk when all of this was happening but she didn’t even apologize or try to problem solve. I was told they would only be able to do an «express highlight» due to my stylist being tight on time. I asked if there was another stylist who could perform the service. My question was ignored. I would have appreciated a phone call ahead of time if they didn’t have time to perform my scheduled service. Normally I arrive for appointments early and consistently wait because my stylist isn’t ready but I’ve never had an issue with this. Let’s be honest though, my stylist would have still been running behind even if I wasn’t four minutes late.
The prior time I came for an appointment my stylist also ran out of time so they gave me a fast blow dry instead of styling my hair with a brush as they blow dried.
There are plenty of great salons in Charlotte. There is no reason to be treated this way.

After reading so many great reviews on Unilocal as well as hearing some great things, thought I’d just stop by for a shampoo/​blowout. Everyone was so nice and my hair looked great. The stylists were all running, they are a very popular place. I’ll be back, can’t wait to try their other services!

If I was just going to review the cut and style that I received today, I would give Scott 5 stars. If you’re looking for a thoughtful, talented artist, he’s your guy. However, the lady that checked me in acted as if it was a bother. I never did get the water that she asked if I wanted. All I got was an attitude. Guess my diamonds weren’t big enough.

I like it! Very good service, welcoming, clean and reasonable on cost. Michelle was very good and gave me an awesome hair cut, I have medium to long hair and wanted layers, she was able to do exactly what I had asked for. Very friendly and a joy to talk to.
I called on Saturday and they were able to book me by Monday. So yes I highly recommend it

I’ve been coming here for over a year now and I’m always satisfied with my hair when I leave Dolce Lusso. I’m always so picky when it comes to my hair and I’ll admit I’m a little difficult but I’m always SO happy with my stylist! I had Hannah today and she did an amazing job! I will say I haven’t had any of the day spa services so I can’t speak on that. If you are looking for a top notch hair salon in the Ballantyne area look no further.

First time here. Total cold call. No referral or reference. I landed in the talented hands of Hannah T. Ive never had a hairstyle in my life. Never willing to surrender my ponytail. It made me feel safe. But pathetic and hopeless at the same time.
And oh my goodness. I have beautiful. Hannah gave me beautiful hair. She was friendly. Patient. Listened. Asked. And just provided the best service. I could not ask for more. Already have my next appt with Hannah T. booked. This experience touched me spiritually. And made me look like a million dollars. 2 million.

I have been getting my hair done by Hannah and she always does a great job. I came in with yellow blond hair from and overdose of blonde highlights over the years and left with very natural looking, blended color. It’s also a relaxing place to be and the receptionist is always quick to grab you water or whatever else you may need!

Kristy is fantastic. I have been going for 2 years since moving here and have never been disappointed. She always asked me what I want and listened when we changed a few things. The rest of the staff is great and friendly. Always feel welcome when I go.

Went in for a 3:15 appointment and waited 30 minutes before finding out it would be another 20 – 25 until my stylist was ready. I was initially told the stylist would be right with me. I left with nothing to show but an apology. I received a phone call from the owner offering to make the situation right. I believe each client should be given a stylist’s best when in the chair but wished I had been notified before wasting an hour of my day. I appreciated the owner calling to reconcile the situation and hope my future appointment proves that first impressions aren’t always right.

I was a first time customer and I was impressed with the customer service from the moment I walked in. The salon was clean and trendy, the receptionist made a fresh cup of coffee for me, and all staff were very welcoming. Hannah did a great job with my haircut and my blowout looked phenomenal! I liked the salon so much I scheduled another appointment with her. I definitely recommend this place for those who are hesitant to try new salons, they do a great job.

I’ve been going to Dolce Lusso on and off for 4 years as I’ve lived in and out of Charlotte. Unfortunately after trying over and over again to find someone with consistently great color and style, I am done going to this salon. I’ve gone through 3 different stylists, all resulting in at least two times where the coloring just wasn’t good. I don’t have much to say about cut because I typically only get trims. Color however I have had a ton of experiences. Most recently wanted to get an ombré look that ended up with an entire section that went from dark brown (natural color) to an orange brassy solid blonde. Each section was like 4 inches in length and there was zero merging of the colors. (Google bad ombré job and you’ll see what I’m talking about). When I came back to get if fixed, they saw what I was talking about and were appalled. Unfortunately two hrs later, it still wasn’t fixed. So I spent another hr having low lights now added in. If I hadn’t spent $ 200 on just color alone maybe I would give them yet another try, but I don’t think it’s worth it. For the price I would expect much much more consistency, but maybe that’s just me.

I’m new to the area and pass this salon all the time so I figured I would try it out. I had a cut and blow dry and had a great experience. Hannah cut my hair and did an awesome job. I love the Aveda products they use and it was really inexpensive. I will definitely be returning.

Excellent experience. Walked in on a random Sunday afternoon after spending the morning trying to find an open salon in Charlotte and was pleasantly surprised. Scott was excellent, I felt like he was genuinely interested in what I wanted and didn’t try to convince me otherwise.
