Salon M2 Charlotte

Having tried way too many salons in several States I can say this is a solid five star establishment. I was fortunate to have the owner, Michelle, as my stylist as she really knows her stuff. I love that she provides education to her clients while she’s doing your hair and gives tips and suggestions, while listening to what you want at the same time. The entire staff is friendly, highly trained, and some amazing-​looking hair is coming out of Salon M2. They have their own organic, aloe-​based product line, which is really helping my hair (after only a week) repair from the damage it suffered in the hands of less competent stylists. I’m so grateful to have found M2 and Michelle.
They are opening a second location, so if this one isn’t close to you, maybe that one is (South Park, I think). I brought my 17 year-​old daughter in for a haircut to be the guinea pig (ha-​ha) a week before I went in and Oxana cut her hair. She took about 6 inches off (this is what she wanted), gave her some nice movement, and face-​framing layers. Her hair looks great! Oxana is also good about giving suggestions and educating about products and hair care.
I don’t think you can go wrong with anyone in this salon. They are all receiving continuing education (largely from Michelle) and working closely with her to gain experience and expertise. You can’t ask for much more than that. Of course the less important elements are all there: they offer a drink when you arrive, friendly greeter at the door, sharp décor, high-​end stations and shampoo area, well-​stocked retail shelves, technology, etc. I’m happy to have found my salon home and the peace of mind knowing my hair is in great hands is priceless. Speaking of price, you will find cheaper salons, but after all, it’s your hair. I didn’t think the price was exorbitant and definitely worth every penny.

New to the Charlotte area and looking for a new stylist. M2 came up on Unilocal.I had received a really bad cut so was anxious about someone unknown. Oxanna listen to what I wanted and then started to work keeping me informed all the way. I walked out with a great cut (it still has to grow some) and color. I couldn’t be happier.

Love Joni! She did a fabulous job. Listen to what I wanted and love ny hair! The salon is in a great location and everyone is very nice. After moving from NY, I looked at many places. This salon was a great fit for me.

I have seen Courtney twice now and I hope she never ever leaves this salon. She is completely fantastic!

I decided to try this salon because of its proximity to my work. I have ridiculous hours, and barely any free time to do things like this! I was immediately impressed with the customer service. Dayana agreed to stay late in order to accommodate my schedule. When I entered the salon, I was very politely greeted and asked to fill out a short survey about my hair type. I was called back as soon as I completed it! Even though I was her last appointment of the day, I barely had a wait. Dayana listened to everything that I was looking to do, and executed it perfectly! The overall atmosphere is very relaxing and inviting. I would recommend Salon M2 and Dayana to anyone!

What an AMAING salon! They are a earth friendly and best of all make you feel welcome every time you walk through the door. I even got lucky finding the most AMAZING hairstylist (Joni) who truly understands how to cut fine thin hair. She even does great work on my daughter’s hair which is thick wavy. Also, their Eufora products are wonderful!

This is a great salon! It’s not too far away from our house, and I started going there after my husband got his hair cut and I liked his new do. Kate Duffy is our stylist. She has done a great job of helping me grow out my pixie cut and helping my husband deal with his fine/​thinning hair. I used to go to Modern Salon, but my stylist kept getting promoted and it got to be too expensive. So far, we’ve had a great experience and will continue to return as long as we can afford it! We love Eufora products too. My scalp used to itch all the time until I started using them. Highly recommended!

Fantastic Experience! I just moved to Charlotte from Atlanta and was very nervous about finding a new salon and stylist. (In fact, my very first appointment at another Charlotte salon was disappointing… so was more apprehensive than usual.) As Salon M2 is within walking distance of home for me I read all the online reviews prior to booking an appointment. Those were encouraging, and so I took the leap… best experience EVER! Dayana was my stylist and she was so thorough prior to even beginning my appointment (foil highlights, shaping cut, blow dry) — she asked all the right questions, and ensured I was comfortable with the direction we were taking before proceeding. I was offered a glass of wine (yay!), and every step taken on my hair was explained prior. Dayana did not disappoint! I am thrilled with the results and have already booked my next appointment. Everyone in the salon is very welcoming and warm — it made for a fantastic experience overall. I’ve been to many $$$$$ salons in Atlanta, and the results I got at Salon M2 were easily comparable at a MUCH more reasonable price. Exceeded my expectations for an initial visit. This is THE salon and stylist (THANK YOU DAYANA!) for me.

Found this place off of Unilocal reviews. I’m used to more simple places with a more affordable pride tag ($ 20-​$ 30). But M2 does emphasize creating an experience by offering drinks when you arrive to filling out an application of your hair type before starting. Everyone is impeccably dressed!
I had a new hairdresser called Dionne. She was very friendly and made to ask clearly what I wanted before starting. Her rate is $ 57 dollars for the cut. But there is a 10% discount for first timers, and ten dollars off if you check in on Unilocal.
Originally, there was some miscommunication about my bangs – it was cut as a blunt cut and I was looking for sides wept ones. But as we talked, she was very accommodating in adjusting it.
Dionne is very friendly and has experience doing all sorts of cuts – I recommend her if you’re looking to try out a new cut.

I can’t believe it has taken me so long to do this review! My usual hair stylist is out for a while on maternity leave, so I was looking for something a little different and somewhere new I could try. I of course, turned to Unilocal for that little help. M2 is close to my house and had great great reviews. I called to set my appointment and was so excited to get there. When I got there I filled out a small survey that asked great questions for my stylist to get to know what type of hair I had. They also asked what was most important in making my experience there the best it could be. I thought that was awesome and they really value the customer and their comfort level while in the salon. I met my stylist Dayana and she went through a great consultation. She asked for details and even pictures of the color I would like to go. I could tell she wasn’t afraid to take a chance and make a big change in my hair. Which I LOVE! She made it so easy to talk and my highlights and foils were so tight and close together I could tell I was going to love it.
She did such an amazing job and I will be making my next appointment with her asap. She was very knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable the entire time. The salon as a whole was so cute and small (which I love). They offer beverages as soon as you walk in the door and it is very nice atmosphere. If you are in search of a new salon, don’t be afraid to give this one a try!

I just had my hair colored by Angela st Salon M2. I had referred my mom when I was visited after checking out Unilocal for salons in the area and she loves her. I’m a bit of a tougher client and asked for a color touch up staying with a reddish hue and contrast highlights. She did really well giving me ombré contrast highlights on the sides and overall face framing highlights (slightly less than a partial). I wax bed happy and would ask for her. She knows how to color. I did have pictures of what I liked and didn’t fur the consultation. She listened and then used her expertise to do it. ;)

My situation: I am a male who typically sports trendier and unique hairstyles (faux-​hawks, pompadours, and the occasional «fashion mullet»). Trouble is, finding a stylist that understands and is comfortable with executing the aforementioned edgier hair styles is no simple task, especially in Charlotte.
And now enter: Kate at Salon M2. Kate is a God-​send, and that is coming from a non-​religious person. She gets my style and expectations and she is a pro at executing my particular vision for whatever hairstyle I want. Specifically, I can tell she enjoys what she does and the passion is definitely there and I see it translated into the end result. I have even told her, «Let’s try something new — do what you want!». So to those reading this — she does a exceptional job.
Bottom-​line: Like other reviewers for Salon M2, I believe every aspect of the salon is highly professional, from the receptionist, ambiance, customer service, and pricing and so on… But what I care about most is how my hair looks at the end of the day, and Kate always delivers.

I just had a hair cut last night at Salon M2. I am so glad my colleague recommended this salon to me. I had a very good experience there which was beyond my expectation. The girl at the front desk did a great job. I instantly felt welcomed. Upon checked in, they offered me beverage, water and wine! My stylist Kia greeted me promptly and she took the time to listen to me what I wanted for my hair. She is very nice and has a great style herself! I enjoyed the wash, the scalp massage during the wash and the product they used. Kia did a great job cutting my hair and I really appreciate she really took the time to blow dry and style my hair after the cut. Overall, it was a great experience in Salon M2. I also love the beautiful setting inside the salon. Great choice of music. Professional stylists and very good customer service.
I felt it was actually a retreat to myself when I left the salon. How many salon could make you feel in that way? :) Well done, Salon M2!

I’ve been coming to M2 for almost a year now. It’s simple, clean, eco conscious and reasonably priced. Abbey does great with my thick hair and does it the way I like. Sometimes I want to come in just to have her wash and dry my hair!

Last week I found myself in need of a quick trim & style at the last minute and my regular stylist at another shop couldn’t take me. So, I jumped on Unilocal to check out some salons close to work & home and found Salon M2. I gave them a call to see if they could work me in, and as luck would have it, they had an open appointment at a time that was convenient for me.
When I checked in, they offered me a beverage (coffee, tea, wine, or fruit-​infused water.) I took a glass of water (which on this day was infused with strawberries and blueberries) and settled in to fill out my new client questionnaire.
After a few minutes, my stylist came to get me and she looked over my information while asking what I was looking for in a cut & style. Then, she took me back to wash my hair. The chairs were super-​comfy and reclined with a nice foot rest.
The salon uses a natural line of hair product which felt great and had a nice clean, botanical smell. And, my stylist Lauren did a wonderful job washing my hair & massaging my scalp. Very nice!
Then we went back up to her station and she started to trim my hair. After that, she dried and styled my hair and then finished the trim after my hair was dry. Lauren did a great job and I was super impressed with the entire experience.
If you live or work in the Ballantyne, Piper Glen, or Blakeney areas and are looking for a new salon, I would recommend giving them a call. I found the prices to be quite reasonable for the service I received. I will definitely be going back!

I am always nervous about going to a new hairstylist, so I am happy to report that I would recommend Salon M2. I recently moved to SC and used Unilocal to help me find a new salon. I was very happy with the entire experience. Lauren discussed what I wanted and what my hair needed. My highlights/​lowlights and cut came out exactly as I wanted. Coming from Phoenix and an experienced hairstylist that was much less expensive, I found the service expensive, but when you get what you ask for it’s worth it.
The salon was nice, and appeared clean, they had coffee, tea and the strawberry water (yum), and a fruit basket.
As another poster commented there was hair in the corners of the mirrors…
While I was there a lens/​light cover from one of the light fixtures fell and landed right behind a customers chair (with a customer in it). The lens was about 3 inches round — all of the light fixtures are not over the top of the chairs, good thing.
I am happy with Lauren and have already booked my next appointment.

I wanted to love everything. I loved the friendly staff, and my stylist was super cute and super sweet. I loved the open hair dryers, the ambiance, the lack of a wait, the strawberry water, and how my stylist made sure I was comfortable for my shampoo and conditioner (I hate when they bang your neck against the sink).
But…I hate my hair. I am sorry but I hate it. And it is probably my fault cause I miss my old stylist in California and I guess I didn’t explain myself well enough but what I needed was to be able to wear my hair down and it to have a style and what I got was a bad version of ‘The Rachel’. It was more than halfway down my back and now there’s so much less of it I don’t even think we can fix it until it has grown another six months to a year. To be fair I had a lot of split ends and she held up how much she was going to cut but it ended up being FAR shorter than I thought it would. I didn’t realize I didn’t like it until I got home and looked in the mirror after fixing it the way it would be every day, not the I just came from the salon look. Today is my birthday and I had planned on wearing my hair down… but I had to ponytail it up. It looks too clunky in a ponytail now too. Usually when I leave the salon I feel all woman, sexy and fierce and ready to take on the world. I just don’t with this cut, and I am sorry because I REALLY wanted to and I see no way to fix it or I would just call them up and ask for a re-​cut before posting the review. I honestly have no idea what could possibly fix it other than hair growth.

Please go see Michelle, she’s a star! Thanks to her my hair is as well. Honestly the best cut I have ever had, my hair is ready to hit the high fashion streets of LA!
