Rogue Running

I love this place because of the service. I had an issue with some uncomfortable running shoes that I purchased and came back and was completely taken care of. Matthew was extremely helpful and made everything «right». Have now run in my new shoes several days and am enjoying pain free running. You guys rock! Big shout out to Matthew.

If you are one of those people that goes straight for the negative reviews (like me) then please note that they are super old reviews and inaccurate as far as I can tell. I recently joined Rogue Cedar Park’s Couch to 5k/​10k running program and I absolutely love it! I have tried to take up running maybe twice in my entire life and either lost interest quickly or just decided I wasn’t cut out for it. I recently started back up again with the Couch to 10k app and saw pretty good results but I knew something was missing. After joining Rogue I realized the missing part was all the education on techniques, proper training, stretching, nutrition, etc. The app is great but it is a steady increase in mileage (which can result in injury) where Rogue has a much different approach with increasing and decreasing mileage over time. Last Saturday was our long run and I was mixed in with all other training programs. My favorite part of that run was when the marathoners and half marathoners were passing me on their way back, every single one of them either smiled, cheered me on, or even high five’d me! What an amazingly supportive and positive group this is.
Last but not least I have to brag about my running coach, Tori. She is so sweet and really loves coaching. She knows a lot about the sport and is always available to answer my questions about running. I could not be happier with her as a mentor.
The programs at Rogue are well worth the money. You get a personalized training program, coach, core class on Mondays, Yoga on Sundays, and even a sports Dr that comes in and does evals for the runners. Great value there. If you have ever thought about joining a group then definitely check them out.

I would rate Rogue at 10 stars if Unilocal would let me. As an occasional runner, I have taken a couple of classed there and have purchased my last several pairs of shoes there. The coaches are excellent, and truly care about the individual. They never once try to push retail stuff, they simply coach. More importantly, they tailor the coaching to each individual. No pressure to run faster, or longer, or whatever. They start with YOUR goal, and help you work toward that.
As to the retail side, they are probably a bit more than an outlet, but you get what you pay for! 100% focus on the right gear, not just making a sale. And the one time I bought shoes that ended up not feeling right after a couple of runs, they took them back and gave me 100% of the purchase price toward a replacement. Let’s see Academy do that!!! The sales folks are also runners, so they know what they’re talking about, and are great at ascertaining what works best for the individual. So far we have purchased shoes for me, my wife, and both of our teenage sons. We are 100% satisfied, and recommend Rogue to anybody who asks.

The online hours said they were open. I even called just be sure. The message said they were helping someone but they were open. I drove a half hour to the store. They were closed. They didn’t change the phone message to reflect the holiday hours. Its just courtesy. Rogue Running, you suck.

The staff was SO nice and knowledgeable when my husband and I went in to get new kicks. We do a lot of Crossfit, personal training, and running. They took the time to analyze our feet and gave us tons of options to choose from (the guy was super accommodating to my color choice pickiness, haha) to insure the right fit for our needs. They were really, really patient with us while we tested out different pairs. We wanted an all around shoe that we could wear for everything we were doing. At the end of the day, my husband and I both left with shoes that make us feel like we’re walking on clouds with everything we wanted in a shoe. The quality is spectacular and the prices were definitely reasonable for a good pair of running shoes.
If you’re not willing to pay the price or claim the prices are unreasonable, keep in mind that this is a small local business and that you can’t really go cheap on shoes that will keep you comfortable when exercising. After all, a good shoe makes all the difference when you’re putting a ton of strain on your feet and you really can’t place a price on something that will prevent injury or discomfort in the long run. A doctor or physical therapist is going to be a lot pricier than $ 150 pair of running shoes, am I right or what? Weigh the pros and cons before complaining.
They also guarantee that if you don’t love them, no matter how much traffic you’ve put on them, you can return them and find the perfect pair. You definitely can’t get that kind of shoe love at a big chain store and makes this place even more appealing.
The shop itself is really clean and organized. Everything is strategically placed for your needs. They have a nice, effective testing track for you to walk/​run/​exercise on in order to test out the shoes. All of the shoes are on a wall, and there’s a fantastic selection for both men and women. The colors are definitely insane and bright, and most of them look like a unicorn shot a rainbow on all of them, but be patient and you’ll find something that’s reasonable in color, comfort, supportive, and effectiveness. They also offer running gear such as clothing, reflectors, etc.
The staff was never pushy, and very helpful. I really cannot stress how helpful and nice they were. They really do care about your needs and how to best help you.
Rogue Running has definitely made us lifetime customers and we will absolutely be returning for our workout needs.

Wish I could give it a 2.5. It’s only getting that high because of lack of locally owned, (supposed) service/​runners’ oriented shoe stores near me. I will (hopefully) be picking up my shoes on the 4^th visit to this place… just for one pair of shoes, and I went in with very narrow parameters of what I wanted. First time, that was on me; i was just going to see if I liked the looks of any of the shoes (because last time I went there the pair they sold me looked like mens’ shoes (they said were the next iteration of my previous shoes, which I liked) but they seemed very different… and name wasn’t the same). 2^nd time, I did go to try on/​buy my 2 faves, but, as I stated to them, doh!, I forgot my coupon. They said come back, we’ll hold them for you; we won’t honor the coupon. I told my salesperson that I wanted the color he didn’t have me try on. At least twice. I even stated i was pretty picky about the aesthetics going in. So I go in to pick them up today (the coupon was expired a month anyway; the salesperson failed to mention that, to save me a trip back.), and they were in the color that looked like I might as well be paying $ 55 for them. And if I was 65. Anywho, what do you know; they did not have that size/​color in stock that I wanted. They said they could order it from other store and probably get it yet today (didn’t happen, but that’s okay; I am an understanding person of how logistics work). The last thing i said to my salesperson last night before I left was «save it for me in that other color.» He didn’t seem too passionate about his job, though, to say the least.
This is not even taking into account last year when I ordered my husband some shoes from there and 3 weeks in they still hadn’t arrived, so I canceled my order.

Love this place!!!
When you replace your shoes, you can’t always count on the same brand or model of shoe to be available, or fit the same in your feet.
The staff at Rogue are super knowledgeable (yay Matt) and they will determine the best shoe for your foot and give you several options to try. Great local business! Give them your support!

Running Noob. I really like this place. The customer service was excellent and they had shoes to fit my shoebox sized grape stompers… A little more expensive than one of the big box chains but still not bad…
It looks like I’m buying shoes…

I have purchased my last couple pairs of running shoes here. When I started doing races, and not just running around the hood, I got flat out needy. I really wanted someone to hold my hand through the shoe choosing process. There are so many choices out there; different models and brands and over vs. under pronators and what the heck is that anyway… I just didn’t want to deal with it all by myself.
The friendly folks here have been very helpful, never pushy. They usually suggest two or three different shoes (I’m sure they would have more to suggest if we didn’t hit it in the first two or three, but we always do) and they take as much time with me as I need in order to choose. I never feel rushed and so far I’ve always had my salesperson to myself for as long as it takes me to pick a shoe and check out.
Its really nice to have the personal attention especially considering the prices on shoes are no higher than they are at Sports Authority or REI.
I’m a fan.

My second visit to return my new running shoes wasn’t as pleasant as the first visit. Unfortunately, my new shoes caused a bizarre toe blister and they just weren’t the shoes for me.
While I am grateful Rogue let me return them a month and six runs after having purchased them… It was the woman who «helped» me that kinda rubbed me the wrong way.
I walked in and explained the situation. I told her that Travis had initially helped me, but if she didn’t mind, I’d like to go through the fitting process again, just to get her fresh perspective. I also asked if she could measure my feet because no one had measured me when I initially went in so I felt like the shoe might be too roomy in the toe-​box.
It was after sharing all the information with her that she kinda brushed me off saying, «Well Travis is great at what he does, so I’m sure he knows what he’s talking about.» As if she couldn’t possibly add anything to the situation since Travis was the end all be all of shoe fitting.
Here’s the deal, Miss, I’m sure Travis is great at what he does but clearly it wasn’t such a great shoe recommendation because I found myself back in your store making a return. With that said, have some self confidence that you might actually have something to add. Just because your manager made a suggestion, doesn’t mean your fresh perspective couldn’t actually make a huge difference in the life of this runner.
She was nice enough to put my shoe on order but the phone call never came.

Very knowledgeable staff. Really enjoy the Mizuno selection. Not a very big selection outside of that that’s why the missing star. They have a nice track for you to test your shoes. A little pricey but worth the money, you get what you pay four. They do have a ten day policy run walk for 10 days if you’re not satisfied bring them back. They also have a punch card buy 5 get the sixth pair 50%off, Which is pretty cool for a shoe store.

I’ve purchased running shoes from both Rogue and Hill Country in CP. Want a really long review about a bunch of stuff that doesn’t matter? Not gonna get it here; straight to the point:
1. They have taken back several pair of my running shoes (that weren’t used more than a small jog) based on my knees hurting = awesome customer service!
2. They «usually» fit me correctly — only had a couple problems with fit. The down side: it’s a different person each time I go in, which kind of sucks.
BUT THE GOLD REASON I NO LONGER SHOP ANYWHERE ELSE=
3. I bought a pair of Asics and 5-​weeks later they had a tear along the fabric on both sides of the shoe and when I walked into the store, the salesperson walked to the back and got a brand new pair and handed them to me. Taken care of. No hassle.
I also like the fact that you can try them out on their mini run track inside and that they usually have the latest shoes available and a much larger selection than other CP stores.
Bottom line is: Rogue is better, in my opinion.

Just left Rogue w/​some cool gear and a pair of Crossfit shoes for the hubs! Adam helped my husband find the perfect shoes. He was friendly, patient and very knowledgable about each and every shoe.
He was never pushy which I love about this store. You walk out with over a grand in merchandise or with just some gu and they treat you the same!
I live 45 minutes away but will continue to shop at this store for all of my running needs!

The first time I went there, the girl that helped me didn’t really want to be there. She also failed to mention to me that Nikes run a bit narrow. So, after spending $ 100 on shoes that felt fine in the store, they later hurt my feet after running and I couldn’t take them back. I went back over the weekend to see about some that weren’t narrow and the guy that helped me was less than enthusiastic as well. It also took forever to find someone and for them to acknowledge my presence. It felt like I wasn’t being taken seriously because I don’t look like a typical runner. I bought a 2^nd pair of shoes for $ 130, but returned them today after finding comparable ones at Academy for $ 40.
In conclusion, I do not recommend this store at all. It’s a bunch of young kids working there who are more concerned about other things than helping customers.

The people at Rogue Running are very much a community of runners, very welcoming and very helpful with all sorts of tips and advice for newbies or experienced runners. The selection of shoes is great and the events they put on are varied and often.

I wanted to like Rogue Running. I loved the JFR video and wanted to love this store too. Sadly, I just don’t think I’m going to be able to.
Like so many in the Austin area (look, I know it’s Cedar Park, but let me have my delusions, dangit!!) I want to support local businesses. I want that small-​town romance with my local entrepreneurs, to be swept off my feet in a giddy whirl of excitement and New Relationship Energy.
With RR, it was more like that internet date that went all wrong. (I met my husband of almost a decade online, so I totally don’t disparage internet romance.). It was like I got sent emails promising a gorgeous candlelight cruise on Ladybird Lake… and got taken for a gondola ride at the Premium Outlets in San Marcos.
I stopped by at 4:30-ish on a Saturday. My best friend and I had run a 5k that morning, and she had decided she wanted to switch to a little less minimalist shoe.
So, we drive around, and finally find the store. It’s not really RR’s fault on that, since I don’t think they control Google maps.
We walk in, and the gentleman who greets us is… less than enthusiastic. I’m not sure if it was the end of the day «Oh dear God why did these people wait until 30 minutes before we closed to come it??!» or his hipster chic was strangling his native cheerfulness, but I’m pretty sure neither of us smelled of dead fish, so the studied indifference was a bit odd.
On to the selection. When we talk about minimalist running, we mean the shoe, not the general selection. Seriously, as popular as minimalist running is, you’d think they’d have more than two or three shoes.
After half-​heartlessly suggesting a couple shoes, with very little interest in actually selling a pair of $ 100 shoes, we headed out sans shoes to find a friendlier running store.
The rest of the selection wasn’t too bad, although everything seemed to run a little bit large. I did get A Stick to help with sore muscles and it was nice to find locally rather than ordering online. Also, they do have a military discount, which rocks.
Ah well, it’s not always love at first sight.

I believe TJ was the name of the fellow that helped me today. I went there to get a minimal style shoe and wasn’t quite educated on what defined this style of shoe. TJ was very patient and took the time to watch me mull over my choices while offering his insights when prompted.
The staff really knows their stuff. Everyone that works there is a running guru. You might save $ 10 by using a coupon online but believe me when I say it’s worth it to have a non-​pushy expert analyze your style/​wants and recommend a variety for you to choose from. I went in initially wanting a pair of Brooks that were $ 100… I walked out with a pair of $ 90 Saucony Virratas after trying on TJ’s recommendations.
Bonus: I ran my fastest pace yet shortly after buying my shoes. Was I hyped from my new shoes? Probably, but I obviously got the right pair.

When I went to write this review, and I was shocked to see Rogue Running has 4 stars, but then I saw it only had two reviews.
Let me start of by saying I have better things to do than write Unilocal reviews all day, this is only my second review to date. I only review when I have given the company a ‘second chance’, sometimes even a third chance, and it just horrible.
First off I gave the review a two star simply because I did get some shoes from RR that they had to search for (and this was back when they first opened and the owner was working in the store more).
Second, HORRIBLE customer service, I have never gone in the store and gotten so much as a simple greeting. It’s mostly a rude staff with attitude and poor customer service skills.
And when I tried to politely address the way I felt, because I buy alot of tennis shoes and the location is great for me, I got a quote from the ¹⁷⁄₁₈ yr. old kid, «sorry you feel that way, don’t know what to tell ya, I think we have a pretty friendly staff «.
Well, you know what they say…“Birds of a feather flock together», so he probably wouldn’t think his fellow staffers were unfriendly.
The one time my husband came with me into the store, he had the same opinion.
So anyway, do what you want, maybe your one experience, will be better than my four.
May I suggest two other excellent places to buy running/​walking shoes & gear, and with a bigger selection and friendly knowledgeable staff.
1) Hill Country Running, which is right down Parmer by Bicyle Sports shop and Taco Bell.
2) Texas Running Company in the Gateway shopping area close to REI.

I am so glad to have this place open up in Cedar Park. The store is situated next to HEB at FM 1431 and Parmer Lane. A friend and I came in to check out the store, and there is a great selection of all types of running shoes – from barefoot styles to trail to cross training and long distance styles. There is a good selection of sports bras that will lift, support, and separate the girls. They also have clothes and other running accessories that are not too expensive. The indoor track will give you a chance to try out the shoes and they have a very generous refund policy. The staff is extremely helpful and not overbearing.
In addition to the gear, I like this company because they do a lot in the community. I am not a part of the running team (not my style), but have had the pleasure of meeting some of the coaches on their free community runs. All the coaches are fit, friendly, and motivated to help.
PS. Rogue also sponsors the water station at the Brushy Creek Trail at the stretch station under Parmer Lane and at bathrooms near the YMCA.
