Great burgers, great sandwiches. They seem to know what they are doing in the back of the house, but it does take a while for the food to come out. Upfront needs a lot of polish. Décor is mismatched and atmosphere a little sparse. But all in all it is very good!!!

This place was within walking distance to our hotel, and after a long day of traveling it looked like our best bet. The inside of the place was really nice and the waitress was super friendly. Now for the negatives… They didn’t have anything vegetarian offered on the menu(I’m allergic to meat. No joke. It’s a real thing). I had to ask for them to make something for me that i could eat. Normally, every place offers at least one veg item. They mad me a grilled cheese which had more grease than anything else. My husband got one of their burgers and the German home fries. He said it wasn’t good, but it wasn’t bad. The prices were way to high for the quality of food as well. Overall, I think we would only come here again if nothing else was open.

If you haven’t been to Wunderbar before, it is inside the Boomers Main Street Plaza. Boomers is basically a strip mall but inside. It seems like an old office building and they converted each office into a store. You can park around back of the building or if you are lucky like me you can snatch up a open spot on the street by the front door to the strip mall. When you walk into the front door Wunderbar is on the right. After walking inside and seeing that hubby and I were the only customers I was worried but shortly after more customers came. The server came right over and handed us paper menus. I was scratching my head at the menu layout. One half of the menu gives prices and the other half does not. I asked the server why and she said it is because the price varies depending on the type of bread you choose. Umm, yea sure OK. Then on the bottom of the page they have the sides listed and no prices! I can’t stand when you have to pay extra for fries, chips etc. I feel it should just be one price for both. So even though I had no clue what it would cost I ordered the«Black Forest» and that had grilled pastrami, swiss, bacon and homemade thousand island dressing on a french roll. This sandwich was SO good! I could only even eat half! The bacon was cooked fresh and delicious. I ordered a side of «Homemade Potato Chips» and they were burnt. I wouldn’t ever order the chips again. Hubby ordered the«New Yorker» and that had pastrami, corned beef, mustard and cheese on a french roll. The new yorker usually comes with thousand island and coleslaw but he had them put mustard instead and put the coleslaw on the side. He loved his sandwich! The coleslaw on the other hand was very bland. They make their own version that has no mayonnaise(or seems that way) and tasted more just like shredded cabbage with some vinaigrette drizzled over it. This coleslaw needed some pepper or something for flavor. The side of fries he ordered was decent. I asked the server about the rolls for the sandwich since the bread was so yummy and she said they get it from a local baker. The soda cups are huge! We didn’t need a refill the whole meal. When the bill came it was handwritten with no mention of what each sandwich or side item cost. This is just rude. It makes me feel like I am being overcharged for something because they just put what you ordered and then a total. I saw on the receipt where at first she was marking down an additional chips but scratched it out. They don’t even have a real cash register it is just the thing you plug into your cel phone and take credit/debit payments from. Our total was $ 25.18. There is NO bathroom inside the Wunderbar restaurant. You have to go outside in the strip mall and I would just hold your pee because those bathrooms are filthy. The inside décor of Wunderbar is odd. They have stuff from New York on the walls and then Route 66 stuff it is a variety of odd things. They do play country music so that is a plus. There are tables as well booths. I really did enjoy my sandwich but the chips were burnt, the coleslaw was bland, and the menu and receipt are too many things to make me a *fan* of this place so it is A-OK.
