Whimsy –Home and Garden opened in 2003 and is just a few steps away located at 5042 7th Street ! Whimsy– Town and Country was opened as a sister store and vintage finds at each shop are different and ever changing! Always a treasure hunt!

If you want a fun trip down memory lane check out Whimsy Antiques in Carp. Every corner you turn you will find a memory of childhood, your moms kitchen or grandmas house. You feel welcomed and never rushed, I have spent hours in there and still have yet to see every cool collectible there is. This is a must stop shop every time I’m in Carpinteria.

I was shopping around the local stores for Mother’s Day and stumbled into this shop. There were a few cute items but the sales person did not acknowledge me one bit! I saw that she had a knee brace and was hobbling so I thought she was just having a bad day… I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt but turns out… the next ‘white’ customers that walked in were greeted nicely «hello, welcome. Please let me know if you need anything or have any questions» with a smile no less. Awesome! Race issues exist, don’t shop here.

This is an incredibly cute store on the cute «main» street in Carpenteria: Linden Avenue. Although I love vintage stuff and I have walked down Linden many times on vacation I’d never entered Whimsy. Don’t make my mistake! The store is filled with the kind of cute vintage items that work well in contemporary homes. The owners obviously have an eye. This is no junk shop.
Other than vintage things for the home there are a few racks of 1950 – 60’s clothes and even some 1950’s bathing suits for sale. I also noticed some contemporary items in one area of the store.
There was only one salesperson at the counter. I didn’t ask her any questions but she seemed friendly.
Definitely a place to check out if you like vintage things!

I really enjoyed browsing this antique shop during a trip to Carpinteria. It’s definitely true to its description full of all things antique/​vintage from clothing, furniture, and art/​décor, to typewriters, bottle caps, and old sewing patterns (super cool). Psst… this shop is smaller than the antique shop across the street, but waaaay better in my opinion.
There’s another location on 7th Ave. as well that I wasn’t able to check out which is probably just as amazing.
I noticed they had business cards that had a space for a wish list on back. I think you can request that they hunt down your vintage desires. Maybe they’ll contact you if they find it. Pretty cool. Prices in here varied. Some things were overpriced and some pretty reasonable.
Again, really enjoyed this shop — the best I’ve seen actually. Check it out for sure. Customer service was good too. No snobs.

The name Whimsy is very fitting for this store, especially the Linden Ave location (which was the one I preferred). There were a lot of interesting things and I really enjoyed looking throughout the store, even if I ended up only getting two necklaces. They had some gorgeous vintage clothes, but I have to say they were a little too pricey for me at the moment. Luckily I would come back here for sure if I’m ever in Carpinteria again, or maybe I’ll even just stop by on the way to/​from Santa Barbara.

I am in LOVE with Whimsy. My house has several pieces of furniture in it from this store and every time I come in, items are merchandised so well you always find something cool. The staff are friendly and the owners are warm an helpful. I recently purchased a lovely buffet which was restored to look shabby chic. It is beautiful and very beach themed, which is how the décor in my condo is. The owner even offered free, local, same day delivery. Very cool! I come in several times a month and always find something new and unique.

Best antique store I have ever been too! My wife and I absolutely love this mom and pop store. The owners Karen and Alan are wonderful! They hand pick each piece that is brought in and are very knowledgeable and helpful. Come visit this wonderful store and support your local businesses. Great selection and quality items, very well kept and will look beautiful in your home. You won’t be disappointed!
