I always love eating here and specifically search to see if one is in the area that I am visiting. The food is so unique and delicious! I have visited their locations through Orange County, CA and San Diego County, CA.

Food is always good. Jen is a awesome waitress that is always very pleasant and nice. Food is always up to standards. There are some rude assholes that come in and act like they own the world, treat the staff crappy. Jen takes it with stride thou. She’s great.

We have had breakfast there the past three Sunday mornings. The food and service were OK, although my wife’s scrambled eggs were cold this morning and the slices of cantaloup served with the fruit were green and hard as a rock. I now understand why they don’t cut it up but rather bring this rather awkward slice of cantaloup. But the main problem is the temperature control. The staff is working hard so they get warm and crank the air conditioning down so they are comfortable… not so for the customers, we have frozen all three Sundays. We will have to find a different restaurant where the temperature is more reasonable.

Food was great; I’m big on an initial greeting when I walk into a business. There were 4 cashiers up at the front. 3 of them were having a conversation and never looked up to acknowledge us. The fourth one who was behind the group greeted us while the 3 chit chatters continued their conversation never looking up . The service was a little slow and it took awhile for someone to come take our order.

Yuck, this place is just mediocre, eggs overdone, potatoes overdone, one piece of toast(really)! My husbands yogurt parfait only had bananas when it said berries and bananas. Waiter was good but called me friend about 100 times in a very short period. I won’t go back. AND this was $ 27.

Probably the best breakfast meal I’ve ever had! The golden state Benedict was absolutely delicious! I could eat that everyday it was incredible. On it was everything I love; tomato, bacon, and avocado. The best Benedict I’ve ever had, the service was also great. My drink was constantly filled. I arrived early about 9:30 and it was completely packed there was a 20 minute wait but they were kind enough to offer everyone muffins while we were waiting. Very nice of them! I’ll definitely be back they have a huge menu!

One of the beat breakfasts I’ve ever had. The chicken fried streak and eggs were fabulous and the biscuit was beyond fabulous. And. to top it off, the service was great. We will definitely return!

This place is a winner winner winner . We visited this place on our trip to California. The egg egg Benedict on a English muffin (added cheese) was cooked to perfection. Also chose a side of fruit as a side which also proved to be a good choice. Food was great. Portions were excellent. Price was fair. Will defiantly be back if I’m ever in the area again. Thank you for an awesome experience.

Wasn’t too pleased to come here the other day. Host had a twisted look like she didn’t want to be at work didn’t really say much by stare and walk away. She went to all tables to refill coffee besides ours. My husband put his cup in his hand made eye contact with her and she just walked on by. Bacon wasn’t crispy like we asked and had to ask for the bisquit that came with the breakfast. And to top it off they had the nerve to slice gross avacodo and put it on my BLT!(Photo will be uploaded) Having cooks and chefs in my family I’m so shocked any place would allow this for health hazards! I had to ask for them to remove it off my bill and suprisingly when the server showed the manager you would think he/she would remove the whole sandwich to prevent a bad review. But hey not all managers are like me. I give this place one star for the ambience because it was a cute atmosphere. Wish I could give more but employees failed this one!

Have been here multiple times, usually opt for the $ 5.99 breakfast between 6am-8am. However, this last time I decided to try the fall favorite of peanut butter and bacon pancakes and they were scrumptious. There was a lot of bacon pieces throughout the pancake batter and originally I thought there was only peanut butter chips on top of the pancakes, but there was a nice peanut butter taste throughout the batter. The bacon paired well with the sweetness of the peanut butter and I was surprised at how much I have liked it. My partner in crime has been opting for the Monte Cristo more often and loves the sweetness of the french toast with the ham and cheese filling. The service is always spectacular. I really enjoy how each time they make a note to point the $ 5.99 breakfast specials and there is always someone ready to top off your coffee. Who doesn’t love hot coffee in the morning? Lastly, The Broken Yolk chain is becoming one of my new favorite breakfast places in Carlsbad/Del Mar.

Had the build your own omelet with mushrooms spinach and bacon. Was good, came the hash browns and blueberry muffins. The muffin was good but had about 4 blueberrys. The hash browns were greasy. The service was good.

South of the border omelette = spicy goodness! May have to wait if you go on a weekend morning, but it’s worth it. Great service! My coffee cup has never been empty here.

After a long 13.1 miles running the Silver Strand Half Marathon, I was really in the mood for a delicious breakfast. Despite a few hiccups, the Broken Yolk delivered. Arriving at about 1:30p on a Sunday, I was a little nervous that there would be a wait for our party of 4, but we were seated promptly. However, our waitress took a bit of time getting to our drink orders, delivering our drinks, and taking our food orders. She seemed a bit flustered all around, which was odd, because the restaurant wasn’t busy, but she was nice enough. Unfortunately, she made a mistake on one of the orders(it was supposed to be strawberry Nutella crepes, no whipped cream, but she delivered banana Nutella crepes with lots of whipped cream.) The server was very apologetic and offered to buy us a round of mimosas, which was thoughtful. The manager also came to check on us throughout our meal. Now, enough of that, I was hungry! My Tiki French Toast combo definitely did the trick. It was some of the best French toast I’ve had– thick, soft, the batter was delicious, and it was smothered in coconut, strawberries and blueberries. The eggs and sausage were fine, but that French toast! I would definitely go back just for that. Mimosas were good, about $ 8 each. Considering many places sell bottomless mimosas for that price, not really a huge value, but they were large glasses, so I guess it evens out. Prices ranged about $ 11-$ 15, which was a bit on the high side for breakfast, but nothing to make an issue of. If they work out the kinks in service, I would definitely return– save me some of that Tiki French Toast!

Went to eat breakfast today with family, very disappointed. It was the worst food experience. Just no love in the cooking. Whipped butter was frozen. It was just bad food. We should have went to Mama Kats in San Marcos. Not going back.

Subpar food, dirty(and loud) patio, and a forgetful staff. We asked to sit on the patio and apparently Sunday is dog day at this place. At least 5 tables had one or more dogs with them. Several of them unbehaved and barking loudly. Not to mention our table had fresh bird poop on it.(yum!) I ordered the create your own omelette which was really subpar and just not prepared well. The turkey sausage was falling out the edge, the spinach was stuck in the middle, and the cheese was in massive clumps inside. On the plus side, the home fries were great and the biscuit was huge! I asked our waitress for a side of salsa when my food arrived which I never received and my water glass sat empty several times throughout our visit. There are too many breakfast places in Carlsbad/Encinitas to continue coming to someplace with an experience like this… On to the next one!

Broken Yolk is a great place to stop by for a large amount of food and fast service. The atmosphere on the inside is very«diner» style, tables in the center of the restaurant and booth seating around the edges. They have about 15 or so tables outside as well. The Pros to eating here are large amounts of food, inexpensive prices and fast service. When it’s not the morning breakfast rush there is a nice chill vibe, but during the rush… you will feel rushed. The Cons to eating here are you will wait on average 20 to 30 min for a table, and sometimes the servers are so rushed and busy they really only take your order and drop off the check. Someone else will get your coffee/drinks and drop off your food plates. But the food will make up for these things. I usually get either the two eggs with bacon, my great go to breakfast dish or the Monte Cristo. Both are very delicious, will stuff you to your bursting point and come highly recommended. My husband got the eggs Benedict last time we were in and he really enjoyed them. That’s also a go to dish for him as well. The mimosas are very tasty, I recommend always ordering one of those with every breakfast you have.

The broken yolk… its really broken yo! Fix it! Or just stick to making omelets. I expected more from a chain restaurant that does only breakfast. Dont even try to make dinners. I wouldnt usually come here but I got treated to it so why not! Free food always tastes better they say, today I proved that wrong. The hostess is either shy or stuck up. So feel wierd coming in. The servers are pretty nice tho I have to say that. They tried to accommodate us, they tried but I guess they were just too busy. We ordered a waffle with 2 eggs and bacon. I had the breakfast special which included 2 eggs 2 sausages and 2 buttermilk pancakes for $ 5.99! What a deal. The food came out and the waffle was cold. We sent it back and it took forever to get it back. This ruined our breakfast because now I was halfway done when the other person in my party got his plate. We also asked for our syrup to be warmed, it was taking forever so I asked again and turns out theu had forgotten. Great. That waffle man, that shell was so hard that the syrup wouldn’t even go down one bit. So breakfast wasnt so good.

Favorite Local Breakfast! Yes, Broken Yolk is more than a place for breakfast but its one of our favorite stops in the La Costa area. Tons of choices, always cooked to order and always yummy. We like lunch here too but breakfast is a must. Nice outside eating area, friendly service and they offer weekly discounts and buy one get one free offers in the READER here in San Diego. Can’t go wrong for a delicious breakfast… or lunch.
