ScoreBuilder Test Prep is a private tutoring company that serves families and students across North County San Diego. As a company of one, I pride myself on providing the highest quality tutor and better results than larger test prep organizations. A recent graduate of Johns Hopkins University and Georgetown University, I know what it takes to succeed both on standardized tests and in the classroom!
Unlike most independent tutors, I provide supply my own materials, which have been licensed from the top tutoring company in Washington, DC. Students receive custom-generated test prep materials that have proven to improve test scores and access to unlimited practice tests. As a result, I provide you all of the benefits of a large prep company with the dedication and customer service of a small business. And unlike large test prep companies, you know exactly who you will be working with!
In tutoring session, I guide students through an array of standardized tests they must face by reviewing the content featured on the tests, teaching proven strategies for success, and building confidence for test day. My personalized approach focuses on each student’s strengths and weaknesses and has proven to build higher scores.
On average, my students have improved overall scores by 230 points on the SAT and by 4 – 5 points on the ACT!

A graduate of Johns Hopkins University and Georgetown University, Matt worked as a tutor for the past 4 years in Washington DC. As a math and science nerd, Matt not only worked with students the SAT and ACT but also guided them through Math & Science courses, SAT Subject Tests, and AP Exams. With his relaxed tutoring style, Matt quickly became one of the most popular tutors among students. And the results showed, with students increasing average scores by 230 points on the SAT and 4 – 5 points on the ACT.
In 2014, Matt left Washington DC for San Diego. Following his entrepreneurial spirit, Matthew founded ScoreBuilder Test Prep upon seeing a need for quality, one-on-one test prep in North County San Diego. He knows that each student has unique needs and a personalized program delivers the best results. Matt’s love of learning and passion for teaching allows him to connect with students and make the test prep process swift, effective, and enjoyable.
