Stayed here for 7 nights and do not regret it at all! I was in a room a room with a kitchenette. And it was perfect! Anything I could have possible needed I had! It’s like I never left home! They have beach towels, chair, tons of closer space, great tvs, glasses, coffee mugs, wine glasses, pots and pans, an oven, a microwave, a toaster, a blender, soap for the dishwasher! Oh a dishwasher! I mean I can just go on! The place was amazing and huge! And a I got a balcony! Make use of the fire pit and the hot tub, not to mention you’re literally on the beach! The staff was amazing! I ended up with an E. coli infection (didn’t know at the time) and I called the front desk to see if they had any doctors on call. They told me to contact the hospital or urgent care and named places for me. It was the middle of the night 2am when I was feeling ill and they sent an employee with medical training to my room to check on me! It was so nice! And the employees told me to call the front desk every hour until I had let them know I was feeling better so they knew I was okay! One hour I forgot to call and they called me! I couldn’t have appreciated that more than I already do! Nicest staff EVER! Must stay if you’re in the area!

Very clean hotel. We use this resort for our wedding party and guest. The staff was very friendly. A numerous amount of the guest were trying to leave the morning of the Marathon and asked the front desk about alternative routes and the staff member did give false information to some guest. Overall it was affordable, clean, and close to many restaurants and the beach

MEH, lots of indifference by the staff here. Checked in yesterday and here for another 3 days. My room is fine if not a bit dated and worn, but they are doing construction right above me. I’m talking room shaking stuff. I asked the front desk to move me and they couldn’t accommodate without doing a double move. Then, I’m trying to get some work done and the wifi isn’t working. I again go to the front desk and she says that the router isn’t working right now. She didn’t apologize or anything, just said we should have one sometime this week. Why wouldn’t they go to Best Buy and get the damn thing today? I took a shower and looked down and there was women’s hair all over it. They didn’t even bother to clean the tub. they don’t replace the coffee as you drink it either. Anyway, nobody seems to really care, no empathy and no pride. Definitely won’t be spending $ 1000 here again.

I love this place, especially because I always mooch here for free. No, I’m not a stowaway but I know peeps that know peeps that have a time share. Fantastic location and a very clean facility. I always look forward to their annual trip here so I can freeload for a day or two.

We had to wait an hour and got the room exactly at 4pm. We asked for the second floor but were told that the second floor rooms are not ready yet. I though all rooms supposed to be ready by check in time.
Then we need to iron a suit in one hour, but were told it’s only possible if dry clean picks it up in the morning. People do not want to make money! And they complain of bad economy? No one wants to work! Pick up suit, make it double price for urgent and everyone happy!
We needed to order room service breakfast, but they do not have this service!
So why is it called «resort» while it’s just «inn»?

One thing we learned from our stay was to pay closer attention to the unfavorable reviews before we book a hotel. A common thread in many of the reviews is poor customer service. That was our experience, too. We encountered an immature, poorly trained, and unprofessional staff. We concur with the following review:
«Customer service is substandard. Called for some towels at front desk, before I could finish my sentences she hung up the phone. Don’t have the friendliest crowd there. Are they trained or some temp worker at the front desk? … Not likely to stay here again, prefer a resort that makes you feel welcomed.»
Note this comment from another hotel guest:
«The Resort seems to cater very well for timeshare holders but in my opinion hotel guests are secondary in the resorts thoughts.» We agree, and this may partly explain the above.
There are many very good hotels nearby for the same price. Our advice is to look elsewhere.

Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort is a great place to hold a company meeting or event. We’ve used this location for an annual customer meeting for years. They are always accommodating and the village location makes it special for customers coming in from all over the US. We will continue to hold our annual event here until we outgrow the location!

Stayed here during the summer and loved the location, condominium and amenities offered. Our last stay was on the hotel side and we just never got comfortable with the room, very claustrophobic, not much privacy with the back building right outside our on patio. Location is still a plus, walk to dining, shops and Coaster. Upgraded room really just means you get off the ground floor, save the money. WiFi in room very slow, intermittent and TV is programed to many dead channels. Was told the condos were sold out, but the place was empty compared to our summer visit, just think they only like a week or longer stay for the condos, just saying.

Carlsbad Inn is one of those resorts where you can stay on-​site and really enjoy yourself without feeling like you’ve missed anything. Of course, if you want to go out there’s plenty to do: the beach, shopping in the village, Legoland, Museum of Making Music, strawberry picking, wine tasting, shopping at the outlets, using a jet ski in the lagoon, etc etc etc. The staff is very courteous and helpful. Everything is so well-​maintained. And the location is just fantastic.
During our visit there was a welcome reception on the first day with free self-​serve (box) wine, live music, and snacks. Then there was a similar bon voyage reception on the last day. There was a movie night that the kids loved. Every evening the fire pits were lively with discussions and the grassy area was speckled with children.
Carlsbad Inn is a timeshare resort with an attached hotel. So the rooms vary quite a bit from simple hotel rooms to two-​bedroom condos with kitchens.
Owners here often own fixed weeks so they see some of the same people year after year, allowing us and our children to make lasting friendships. I spoke with some people who had been owners for decades and they remarked at the improvements over the years. Indeed, do not trust the photos from before 2010. The entire resort has been painted another color, the interiors have been renovated, some of the grass is now turf, fencing has been replaced with glass walls, etc etc.
Our unit is a one bedroom with a sofa bed. The kitchen is galley-​style and and small but it has high quality fixtures and an oven. It’s not an efficiency. There’s a recliner and another chair in the living area along with the sofa bed. And there’s a table with four chairs in the dining area. Bathrooms at this resort vary. Our unit has a tub and shower but some units have only a shower. It’s all tile and high end. The décor is very modern and tasteful.
We only encountered a few challenges during our stay (which was in July 2015). One was parking. For one day the parking area was full. This was due to a wedding (every time we go to Carlsbad Inn there is a wedding one of the days we’re there). We parked elsewhere for that day and then moved back into the garage at night.
The other issue was one time when we went to the beach there weren’t any more umbrellas available for use. Each unit contains two beach chairs and plenty of beach/​pool towels (which are nice by the way) but the units don’t have beach umbrellas or boogie boards or sand toys. You can check those out at the cabana by the beach. So during prime season you may have to be a bit careful to ensure a parking space and/​or beach equipment.
The elegant pool is small and chilly. The family spa is luke-​warm, but many kids don’t seem to mind. Speaking of cold water, the Pacific Ocean is very cold except for July and August. To me, the temperature of the ocean is just fine in July and August. It was very pleasant to swim in the ocean during our vacation. The adult spa is nice and warm and well used.
Some people complain about the slow elevators. I was told by an owner who attended the owner’s meeting that the elevators were deliberately slowed in order to accommodate slower, older and disabled people who need them. If you are able to use the stairs I suggest you do so. We used the stairs (even for our luggage because we don’t pack too much to carry) and we had a much more enjoyable experience than the people who complained about the elevators.
The rooms are very clean in our experience and we had no trouble at all with any of the staff or facilities.
We love this place!

This place has become a garbage pit. We are current owners and used to love coming here as a family. It has become an unmonitored party place.
Our room was not ready at 4pm like it was supposed to be. We sat out front for a half an hour and watched housekeeping pull bags and bags and bags of alcohol out of the room.
When we finally got in, the room smelled like vomit. We bought air freshener to try to clear it. Within a couple hours my four year old daughter yelled in pain. There were still broken shards of beer bottle glass on the carpet from the previous visitors. Had to file an incident report because of her bleeding foot.
We have owned here for 24 years and now dread having to come to our room on our first day.
The front manager is young and seems very inexperienced with running a hotel. I guess its time to sell and see if we can get rid of this place.

So I would give this place 5 stars, but I gave it 4 only because they have no dining amenities on the facility, other than that it’s basically the best place to stay.
I stayed here with my family during spring break, it was in the center of everything. I could walk to the beach, or I could walk down a block and find all sorts of tasty places to eat.
Late dining, with small children is hard, so room service would have been fun, but we ordered some pizzas from a pizzeria and walked over to pick it up.
The rooms have kitchenettes and they’re super duper clean. The staff is super friendly and accommodating.
They provide guests with beach umbrellas, chairs, boogie boards, and etc. for free, as long as you sign it in and out to your room. This service itself provides so much because we don’t have to worry about packing all that extra stuff, it’s already there!
I can’t wait to go back this coming week. I recommend this place for everybody, young couples, old couples, families, girls weekend, or guys weekend. There is a pool and a hot tub, which the children swim in, but there is also an adults only hot tub, so you can get your adult peace and quiet. There are three fire pits to sit around with snacks and wine and chit chat with friends or other guests. They have fun activities every night for guests to participate in, if they want to.
We demagnetized our keys like three times, and they never gave us guff about it. There is a covered underground parking for the guests which is awesome and elevators to each floor starting from the garage.
You can walk out the back end of the hotel cross a very tiny street and go down the steps to the beach. It is literally a 3 minute walk. I am counting down the days until I get there!

I only stayed here, and did not partake of any of the many, free extracurricular activities, but can say that the staff is very polite and accommodating. There is also a convenient underground parking structure that keep your car safe from the elements and provides easy access to hotel and/​or beach! Please believe me when I tell you that these beds and pillows are soooo comfortable; kinda reminiscent of nestling into your mother’s bosom as a child. There are restaurants, cafes, and shops in walking distance. It’s in the midst of a cute quaint area. I dig it. You might too!

This was perfect — and I wish my stay was longer so I could enjoy all the amenities they have to offer. Service was great, our room was excellent, and the location was perfect.
There was a lot of maintenance going on and for the most part that did not interfere with our stay With a mix regular hotel rentals and time shares we can tell how busy this place would be in the summer.
I look forward to coming back soon!

Unreal. I understand that they are trying to remodel. Ikea future that is not correctly assembled.
Brand new tile falling on to the floor.
Nothing but a disaster.
We will not be coming back next year. What a waste of money.

This place makes my house look like a bitch. Well, I’m exaggerating but you will get the point. The resort was wonderful! We stayed here on a time-​share for 8 days and 7 nights and didn’t want to leave on Sunday.
Rooms are condo-​style with one bedroom, a kitchenette, a living room with a sofa bed, and a balcony that overlooked the entire courtyard with a little bit of an ocean view. Of course, if you really wanted a good view of the ocean, you would have to get the 3^rd floor condo rooms. Rooms were very well kept and décor was nice, nothing TOO fancy.
They have a set itinerary for the entire week full of activities for kids and events for adults. Some come with an extra cost, like wine-​tasting ($ 10) and pizza bingo ($ 5 per person) but it was nothing too expensive, given you have already paid thousands for your room. I just love that you were able to rent just about anything for the beach; bikes, strollers, umbrellas, sand toys, boogie boards, and towels. You can see that you can definitely keep your kids busy for hours. There is also an adult jacuzzi that gives you a view of the ocean as well. But be careful because it gets REALLY hot. Lounging chairs are available on the lawn for you to sit and have a chat or just relax and get a little (a lot for me) bit of vitamin D. You’re also steps away from the beach so be prepare to spend a majority of your time there.
Customer service was good. Some staff members were pretty awesome (shoutout to the activity center staff members) while some lacked a little bit of spirit which is understandable. However, we did get our full service maintenance once for the week and a maid came by about every other day to give us fresh towels!
The resort is within walking distance of a TON of restaurants and shops. It’s also less than a mile away from Albertsons. You will definitely want to leave your car in the parking structure and do a lot of walking. And hey! you’re at the beach and on vacay, why bother with the car? Our stay at Carlsbad Inn was very memorable. I hope to return soon!

Perfect! Clean. we’ll maintained and super elegant entry. Staff was friendly. Front desk was helpful and attentive. Queen beds and room was a little older. But wonderfully appointed bedding and furniture with Flatscreen, DVD, and balcony. Free rentals of current DVDs, bikes, strollers, beach stuff. Beach towels, pool, hot tub, fire pits, laundry room and parking garage. Stair steps down to the beach.
We stayed two days and could see ourselves staying for a week. And will be back to do so. Lots of amazing looking bars and restaurants walking distance away. In a very cool area.
Quaint, yummy breakfast restaurants both in the parking area. And directly across the way. Adorable Mexican restaurant but a little over priced and bland.
Gorgeous area! Mellow, Relaxed atmosphere! Highly recommend!

We love this place. Great location, grounds, and furnishings.
Minor problems like only old, «flavored» coffee pods (no regular coffee) for in-​room Keurig machine, charging $ 4 for bottled water sitting at the machine and one-​ply toilet paper.
Seem like small things but that’s kinda the point

My boyfriend and I just stayed at this hotel for two nights. For the price we paid ($ 104 a night), it was okay. If we had paid much more than that, I would have been really upset. We had some good and bad surprises while staying here and I am not sure that I would want to come back.
The Good:
— Our room had a kitchenette! It included a stove, dishes, sink, fridge, microwave and dishwasher. This is great when reheating leftovers and making snacks.
— The grounds were very well kept. The grassy area at the center of the hotel was lush and welcoming. The pool area looked very nice as well.
— You could play table tennis or check out bikes and other rentals. There were activities scheduled (such as classes) for additional costs. They also have a Redbox type machine with free movies.
— Beach access is close and there is an adult only spa that overlooks the ocean.
— There are a couple of nice sitting areas inside and outside with fireplaces.
— Great location! There’s lots of stuff to see and eat nearby.
The Bad:
— Our bathroom had huge discolored spots on the wallpaper and there was long black hair on the towels and sink. Neither my boyfriend nor I have black hair.
— Our toilet worked when it wanted to. This was very inconvenient.
— There was a huge hairball in the shower. This was absolutely disgusting.
— The shower drain was not attached to the floor and slid around, leaving an exposed hole in the ground (which looked gross and I was worried about accidentally cutting my toes on the metal drain).
— I was standing in the hall waiting for my boyfriend and the maids were cleaning a different room. A maid coughed something up and spit it into her cart right in front of me in the hallway. Yuck.
— We mentioned these issues to the front desk but they didn’t seem to care too much. They also refused to honor the Unilocal discount and tacked on additional fees. We weren’t too happy.

We have enjoyed our stay here several times — it’s time for a review. Very nice location, right in the heart of the village and walking distance to everything. I hate that they are not dog-​friendly, but oh, well. The beds were very comfortable, and staying on the ocean-​view side was quite nice. The pool is quite small, but if you have young ones you may appreciate this. Outdoor music is lively, but there is just NOT enough seating outside in the courtyard. More chairs please!!!

I came here the other day, because I had family members staying here who own a timeshare. This is a quaint beach-​town resort. I am not aware of the prices, but I felt that the rooms were simple but maybe a little dated. Definitely nothing extravagant there. The bathrooms were clean and the shower fixtures were modern. All rooms have a balcony.
Where this resort stands out is the pool and courtyard area. The pool is medium size and there is a warm jacuzzi for the kids. It was nice that they also have a separate adult-​only jacuzzi. There is a large grassy area with seats and tables, and 2 coal fire pits. Sunday afternoon the resort hosted a lovely wine and cheese event. The cheese, crackers, veggies and spreads were complimentary and they kept replenishing them as they ran out. A man played the guitar and you were able to purchase hot dogs for $ 2.
This resort is almost right on the water and most rooms have a view of the ocean. You are able to take a short walk to the beach and enjoy their cabanas as well as check out sand toys for the children. This is a great place to vacation with kids. Check with neighboring restaurants and stores, as they may offer discounts for resort guests.
