Seth is simply the best realtor in the world! He just helped my wife and I buy a new home to fit our growing family and also has helped me to purchase invest property in the past. Seth will work with you across San Diego county and always puts your needs first. On both purchases, Seth worked patiently with us over a 2 year period until we found the right property. Along the way, we made several successful offers that we decided to abandon due to issues we found during due diligence. My wife and I just bought our first house. We were looking to buy in north county and we decided to hire Seth because he specializes in the area and because of all the good reviews on Unilocal.Our experience with Seth was overwhelmingly positive. I literally could not ask for anything more in a real estate agent. Every step of the way it was obvious that Seth was putting our interests ahead of his own. I say that because he could have saved himself weeks of work by talking me into buying any one of a number of houses before we finally found the perfect one. For some of the houses we saw at the beginning, he could’ve told me «this is a great deal and if you pass it up you won’t find another one like it» and convinced me to buy. Instead, he pointed out flaws in some houses that I was really interested in that in some cases led me not to buy them, which made him have to put in weeks of extra work while we continued searching for the right place. The house we ended up buying was about 30% UNDER budget, which meant he got 30% less commission than he would have with some other houses we were looking at. But he was 100% supportive of our decision to buy the house that we ended up buying. Again, he easily could have talked us into buying a different, more expensive house, but he obviously cared more about making sure we were happy with our purchase than maximizing his commission.
To sum it up, Seth is the kind a guy who, if he found $ 10,000 in a briefcase in an alley and no one was watching, he would spend the rest of the day looking for the guy who lost the briefcase so he could give the money back.
OK, back to me: the house we ended up buying was not in North County, but it was clear to me that Seth’s expertise in real estate is not limited to North County, because he did a phenomenal job in helping us make the decision to buy the house we did. Even though he lives in Cardiff, he had absolutely no problem driving down to the house we bought a number of times to meet with us and various inspectors to ensure that it was all in good condition. In fact, he is the one who recommended the various inspectors and set appointments with them. In some cases when I couldn’t make it, Seth actually met with inspectors without me. When we did discover that there were some problems with the plumbing, Seth make sure that we got a substantial credit from the seller, which ultimately reduced the price that we paid for the house.
Seth was always available, even on nights and weekends. There were times when we would talk or text at 10:00 or 11:00 at night. When I sent a text or an email at night, I would always make it clear that I didn’t expect a response until the next day, but he would invariably get back to me right away.
On another note, I am generally very wary of online reviews, and before we hired Seth I wanted to make sure that we got the best real estate agent, so I did quite a bit of diligence to make sure that all of Seth’s reviews, which are glowing, were also authentic. They all are. Everybody who posted a review of Seth on Unilocal has posted a bunch of other reviews that are spaced out over a long period of time and the accounts that they used to post the reviews were created long before they reviewed Seth.
Seth has my full and unconditional endorsement and I would recommend him to anyone buying a house anywhere in San Diego.

My husband and I came from out-​of-​state to look for a new home in the San Diego area. We wanted to do it in a rather compressed time frame so went to Unilocal for recommendations on real estate agent selection. After reading the reviews we made an appointment to meet with Seth. Everything we read about him proved to be true. He is warm and engaging, and very observant of human behavior. We have an interesting story.
We were operating with two different realtors at the same time. One to sell our home in south Orange County, and Seth Chalnick to help us find a home in north San Diego county. This would normally be a pretty typical situation except for fact that the home we sold and the home we bought (so would have a place to live) had to close within 24 hours of each other including county to county money transfers. It was a complete logistical nightmare for everyone involved, but Seth, was not only the most professional person we’ve ever dealt with, he was as cool as a cucumber throughout the entire process, consulting us through many difficult issues over a very short time period without skipping a beat and never once dropping the ball. Our Orange County Realtor (30 years in the industry) who struggled during this process dropped the ball several times during this critical, but in all fairness, not very typical situation.
On top of all that, Seth found us the house of our dreams and we couldn’t be happier!
