I am commenting only about Dr Henry Coe as I didn’t have any dealings w/​the other Drs at this facility. I wouldn’t recommend this Dr Coe to anyone. I was asked to bring my mother in @ 1:30 as she was a new patient & Dr Coes office staff said that would give them time to process her paperwork. I asked them to email me the paperwork so it would be done before I got her there for her 2:00 pm appt. They emailed me the paperwork, I printed out the paperwork & had it filled out & I had my mother there at 1:30 & still we were left sitting in the 2 airing room for over an hour. When I asked what the hold up was, I was told the paperwork was not their usual forms. I reminded her that she’s the one who emailed them to me. She didn’t have an answer to that, but i guess in an attempt to stop me from raising a fuss in front of a lot of other people waiting to see their Drs, they finally took my mother into an exam room. Where they left her for another 30 mins. Dr Coe & his staff seem to think their time is more valuable than everyone elses. I wouldn’t use this Dr w/​o exhausting ALL OTHER OPTIONS.

I came to an appointment with Dr. Gidvani Sandeep (30 minute drive with a 21month baby) to find out Dr. Gidvani was on surgery and there was no one who could see me. They said they left me a voicemail trying to reschedule: LIE! This is not a review of the Dr. himself but of the really inefficient staff he has working for him scheduling his appointments! Extremely mad and extremely disappointed.

They have the worst staff working their who don’t know how to do nothing right. slow or no response from drs ever or asst. You can never get perceptions done in timely manor that they ask for … don’t use this place!!!

Doctor at least 30 minutes to 1 hour late for office visits and procedures. Dr. Ng’s poor bedside manner and dry/​flat personality is a tough pill to swallow. I do appreciate Dr. Gidvani telling me he can’t help with my pain rather than doing a surgery. Availability of appointments is good, and April the office assistant is attentive, but extremely high office costs ($ 375 for follow up visit) and $ 25 charge for copying records gives this office a big black eye.

My first visit to Dr. Jeffrey Coe (owner, SVSI) was in 1996. I had two herniated discs, and spinal arthritis, due to an active lifestyle, but also bad chiropractic care over 15 years.
First surgery in June 1997 to address the herniated discs (Los Gatos Community Hosp). It was an anterior approach, very new surgery at the time. Great experience, and back to work in one month. Dr. Coe visited me after surgery twice daily. I didn’t feel able to return home, so he extended my hospital stay two days.
Second surgery to address the spinal arthritis — November of 2005 — nine years of pain management before we opted for the surgery. Thanksgiving week. Los Gatos Community again. Not an easy surgery, two levels and a titanium rod. Again, a great experience, in as much as back surgery can be. He was able to move me to my own room (noisy neighbor), and extended the stay again. He was there twice a day, and Sunday included.
Dr. Coe will answer all questions, very directly and honestly. Amazing surgeon, and a really caring nice man.
Great staff. Sherry had numerous calls from me prior to the 2005 surgery, and was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. She answered all questions and concerns with a sense of humor as well.
Going in for yet another surgery end of this year. I guess I am just one of those lucky people. I am confident that this one too, will be successful.
I highly recommend Dr. Coe!

Dr. Coe diagnosed my spinal deformity when I was having terrible radiating leg pain, down one leg, then the other. I could not drive for more than 30 minutes or sit for long periods. This was over 11 years ago. So far I have not had surgery, but he recommended epidural spinal injections. I have had a total of 4 in the past 5 years. I have relief from them. He recommended CORE and water exercises which I try to be diligent. I know because of my deformity I will have surgery, but he is not pushing for it until I am ready and the pain is too much. When I am, I will definitely choose Dr. Coe.

This is definitely the place to go if you have any back issues, which I certainly have had the last two weeks. I had gotten rave reviews of Dr Coe, who is an expert in the field. He did my friend’s lower back surgery and did an awesome job! She followed instructions exactly for post op care and had a very quick recovery! At my appointment, I saw Dr Cluck, MD, PhD. He was nice, efficient, and was able to diagnosis my issues quickly after a thorough exam. I had some pinched nerves in my lower back, but he also scheduled an MRI as a precaution. I had some other issues so I am happy that he did that. We have known the Coe family for years, and have only good things to say about them and their business. They are kind, friendly, and personable. Dr Coe has hired some great staff and the other doctors seem great too! Andrea helped me at the front desk and was fast/​efficient. She was pleasant at my early morning appointment and started things off on the right foot. I highly recommend this place and would give even more stars if I could! If you’ve got back issues, give yourself a break and start here for help! You won’t be disappointed. They do take many insurance plans and warn ahead about policies and procedures regarding medication and other issues. I was very happy with them and will go back again in 2 weeks!

Absolutely horrible office staff. As unprofessional as they come. If you need an appointment, insurance authorization or a question answered by the doctor you can forget about it. Patients are herded in and out of the office often without their questions being answered. I know this because the exam room walls are paper thin, so don’t expect any privacy. Don’t waste your time with this group… WebMD can give you more information about your condition.

First of all, I don’t like Unilocal.People use it to complain about the tiniest things and often don’t even review what should be reviewed. My point is this: Some people are very easily offended. Take negative reviews with a grain of salt and make your own judgement. If you are in pain, you want to meet these two doctors.
I stumbled upon their office by coincidence but am I glad I did. I can say with honesty that I had tried every kind of medical option over the course of ten years in three different developed countries and multiple US states. The last two years were the worst years of my life at 33 and 34 years old. I was basically crippled on a day-​to-​day basis. Nothing worked, not injections, not chiropractic, not PT, not yoga. Not anything. My MRI showed my L5 disc was completely non existent. My bones were sitting on top of one another in my spine. It sucked!
I met Dr. Michael Cluck and was beyond impressed with this guy’s resume. Unbelievable. He never pushed me into anything. He recommended the easiest, least expensive and least invasive methods possible. After trying injections again with no results, he gave me three options for surgery. I was accepted into a study for total disc replacement. Then I met Dr. Coe who is the head surgeon for this program. He and Dr. Coe are partners in these surgeries and they are awesome. They told me about all the risks and possible difficulties afterward. They have a right to have an ego if some feel they have one when you meet them. I, however, do not feel that and never did. At the hospital they were both incredibly nice and supportive. My body is genetically a total nightmare. I’ve always had some annoying problem other people don’t have. There was a complication with a big nerve being in the wrong spot in my spine during the surgery. Dr. Coe fixed it and put it where it should be. I’m still alive to tell you about it. After the surgery he came to check on me in recovery and kept coming out various times to the waiting room to talk to my parents and girlfriend who were my ride home after recovery. My parents were more than impressed with their professional care and did not have one negative thing to say the whole time. After each check up appointment, Dr. Coe tells me to call him any time if I have a question or concern. He was cool from day one and has an equally awesome resume. These guys are talented and easy to talk to.
My day-​to-​day life is ten thousand times better than before. I am only 5 months in to the recovery and life is getting better and better. I have my life back. Now, remember that after any major surgery there is a recovery period. You have to be proactive and do your part with physical rehab, proper rest etc. All bodies react differently. The surgeons can’t control whether you do that or not. (Update after 12 months — I’m better than I’ve ever been. Ever. Even as a teenager).
Also, keep in mind that doctors have to deal with a lot of jerk people too. They have 200 people who want their help each day and then each one of them wants to chit chat for 20 minutes about their kids’ baseball team. Then people will ask them to wait while they answer their cell phone right during the consultation. Be understanding. They don’t have time for that. Don’t take it personally when they move quickly.
Everyone else in the office has always been nice to me and very helpful as well. Scheduling is always easy.
Oh yeah, the blacktop on the street two blocks down from the building they occupy could have been a little blacker. I’m taking away three stars for that. Yeah, right. Get over yourselves, you nitpicky Unilocalers.

I had a wonderful experience with SV Spine Institute and Dr. Cluck… from the initial appointment, through the surgery and into Post-​op. The microsurgery worked like magic, I was pain free from the moment I woke up (except for the incision of course) I was amazed at how quickly I recovered… I was able to return to my regular routine within a week! Dr. Cluck and his assistant, Vanessa were friendly, caring and very efficient… as were the ladies at the reception desk.
If you’re considering back surgery I would highly recommend a consultation with The Silicon Valley Spine Institute.

I totally disagree with these reviews. I was referred to Dr. Cluck after talking to my regular doctor whom I have the most trust in. I was a little sceptical about keeping my appointment after reading the reviews here. I went to the Spine Institute and had a completely different experience. The front desk was really friendly and helpful, the nurse was really nice, Dr. Cluck took the time to explain my X-​rays and MRI and told me the advantages and disadvantages to a surgery I knew I needed. I did not have a hard time getting an appointment or any of my follow-​up. The worked closely with my insurance to make sure I got pre approval. I will update this review after my back surgery but over all, I am very impressed and would recommend my friends and family.

Strangely, I encountered the same with one of their other Doctors: Clock MD, although their anesthesiologist, Dr Ng seems genuinely capable and
interested in patients. I hope so — he is doing an epidural on me as part
analysis of a cracked vertebra — something Dr C refused to elaborate on
when he looked at the visuals, primarily an MRI. He is of the most arrogant and uncommunicative Drs I have encountered in awhile. He spent all of 3 – 5 minutes with me, and and NOT give me a chance to ask any questions — just «…that will need a fusion…» — and the door slammed behind him… virtually… he referred me Dr Ng there for an epidural for a cortisone shot for the pain… BTW also the result of a car accident… Dr Ng elaborated: there were several abnormalities in my spine, but the most obvious source of likely pain was what they call a «par» — an actual break of a piece of the vertebra — in this case only visible from an MRI… If it were only Dr Ng involved, it would’ve been a 3 or 4 star rating… I will wait and see how the epidural and followup goes… they also had a problem understanding that I wanted Dr Clock’s notes to UCSF for a 2^nd opinion!
