Hi I am taking the time to write a review because of the extreme bad customer service I received. .my husband bought me a replacement wedding ring for Christmas at George Thompson here in Camarillo, because mine was stolen purse and all. I got it caught on a shelf and it almost ripped the diamond right off. so we took it to the store and the jeweler looked at it and said he would fix it… but for a fee. I only wore this for maybe three months. So being we were disappointed to hear that, I put the ring back in the beautiful box it came in and left the store, as we were leaving, the lady said please wait and let me get my manager. It should not have to be like that, especially with the expense of this sort of item. I had my husband go back in to see what the manager could do about it. .they are now fixing the ring at no additional cost. .oh and by the way. a customer that was in the store, said she was picking hers up also, same thing happened to hers… VERY DISAPPOINTED. .DON’T GO…

I’ve always shopped in downtown LA for my diamonds and purchased my wedding ring there 9 years ago. 3 years ago my headstone fell out and I was devastated. On Monday I went in to George Thompson’s store and was greeted by the owner himself and pointed in the direction that I needed for assistance. Ms. Terry Lopez was amazing. She helped me pick out the new diamond to replace my headstone and they even put new prongs and resized and polished up my 9 year old band. It was ready in 2 days! I’ve always loved my ring set but I now love it even more. The quality of the diamond is 100 times better than what I previously had and I actually paid a little less than in downtown LA. I will definitely be in every 6 months to have my prongs checked. The warranty on their diamonds is another plus! Thanks George Thompson and Terry for being amazing. Excellent service! My ex and I had a fantastic experience when we purchased our rings there with Misti and I had an even better experience when I traded in those rings. I’ll try to make this quick. Now my situation is a work in progress, there is still room to make things right. Although after my visit to the store today I’m extremely disappointed and offended.
My husband and I went to GT for the first time in 2013 we found essentially what was my same exact ring just bigger. We spoke with Sue on that first visit and I held on to her business card for over a year and a half but I felt so strongly about giving her our business once we were ready to buy. We visited GT for the second time in September 2015, our wedding was November 2015. On this visit we were only able to afford a matching band for my engagement ring and a wedding band for my husband. As we were picking out a band for my ring the phrase «oh that bands diamonds will look too large next to your small ring», I must have been told a variation of that line 4x. I looked past it assuming that the blunt nature of the comment was just to be helpful. We ended up putting the two band on layaway. Total of $ 1,600 for both. Not their highest sale buy for your average Joes it’s significant.
A week before my wedding I made my 3^rd trip to GT, I dropped off my wedding ring to be soldered to the band and to have the white gold redipped. I drop the rings off with the older gentleman who has greeted me everytime I’ve visited GT, he wrote me up and charged me $ 75 to redip the ring. Returned two days later to get my set and to have my husbands engraved. A lady named Kam delivered my ring to me. (in complete honesty she did not introduce herself although when I returned today I recognized her and her beautiful ring she wore from the first time I met her) she did not disclose and details of what happened to my ring she didn’t even look over the ring before handing it to me.
I did not wear my ring until our wedding day. It took me a few weeks to accept the idea that my ring had been altered, although there is no denying it. My center stone looks different, the prongs, or setting that holds my center stone is visibly different. The tips of the prongs get caught on long sleeves. The constantly scratch people and the soldering job is half assed. My two rings aren’t even aligned straight. I returned today to show them my ring and show them before and after photos. (I’ve worn my engagement ring for 4 years prior to getting married) Kam and another lady who didn’t introduce herself, but I believe her name was Connie, they looked at my photos, one lady even dared to say there was no difference. No apology or tad of sympathy, no ounce of compassion. The level of customer service was ridiculous. They handled my ring as though it came out of a gum ball machine. She placed it on the counter and walked away. They offered to smooth the tips of the prongs and fix the shitty solder job. I asked them to pull my records, I still would like to know why my ring was altered to begin with. They said they’d have to get the records from their storage. I was not provided a time frame to be contacted back nor was I asked for my contact information. Kam did however request that I send her my photos to her email. I did, not sure she got them I never received a confirmation she received them.
The over all attitude towards me was carless. It’s extremely disheartening to be treated in such away and have my ring looked at as thought it wasn’t worth their attention. Maybe if I wore a larger ring they would have payed me more attention. Disappointed and will most definitely refrain from sending customers their way. … so much for keeping it short huh.

My husband bought my engagement ring here almost 10 years ago. We were very happy with the quality of the ring and also with the great service we received. I also love that the staff is never pushy. We all know how some salespeople are!
I had been wanting an upgrade for some time, so I went in to check out some rings. There were so many beautiful choices, it was overwhelming! Ann happened to be the saleswoman who was helping me and she is THE BEST! She is so sweet and friendly, not to mention extremely helpful in choosing that perfect ring. She caught onto my style right away and helped me weed out anything she thought I wouldn’t be 100% happy with. She was so patient with me, as I am super picky and had a million questions.

We purchased an engagement ring about 17 years ago from George and had a wonderful experience. We recently decided to have a couple more bands made to add to the ring and they didn’t have the original cast anymore. They took the ring, took it apart, made a mold of the band, made two more bands and then attached everything back together. When we went to pick the ring up we were completely satisfied as it was perfect. We have been doing business with them for several years and have always been very satisfied with there services. Ask for Ann as she provides wonderful services and is very experienced.

After three weeks of searching online for the perfect ring I finally had an idea of what I loved. We made our first stop at George’s store, not really expecting to walk away with a ring (I’m picky). Connie was amazing in meeting our budget needs and getting me my dream ring! More than I ever imagined, than you so much for being patient with me

After my Dad & I drove right past GT, my CP3O voiced Waze informed us of our mistake, oh dear me.
Once we found our way in, we were greeted at the door by the security guard, and then approached by a sales clerk, we told her we were looking for a Christmas present but wanted to browse first, she was polite and gave us our space to look.
George Thompson has been my parent’s jeweler of choice for over twenty years, GT was my Mom’s introduction to diamonds when they were located in Oxnard, and this is where her cherished diamond pendant was purchased, one she wears to this day and it still looks like new.
As my Dad and I looked at rings, he told me that the difference between department store gems quality and a real jeweler are staggering, but he realized that cost has a lot to do with that, but he wanted to get my Mom something special for Christmas.
We were then greeted by a older gentlemen sipping on hot coffee, My Dad knew it was George Thompson and they reminisced on the old store in Oxnard, Mr. Thompson went on to add that they would be celebrating their 16^th year at the Camarillo Store in the coming year.
After we told him what we were looking for, he showed us a few rings and we compared the less expensive ($ 500 to $ 600) to the larger carat rings ($ 1000 and up). We came across a beautiful 3 stone which came to a little over a carot of diamonds, it was higher end, but if you’d seen it you would’ve wanted it too.
As someone who doesn’t wear a lot of jewelry, I told my Dad that for me I’ve always felt a ring like that should be given by the man whose given his heart to me and mine to him, and that Mom would love it coming from him.
That sold my Dad, he purchased it and he wrapped it up in a large box, thinking he was going to surprise her… but wouldn’t you know, she guessed it before she even opened the box.
Thankfully George Thompson told my Dad that if my Mom didn’t like the style and the ring wasn’t worn, she could exchange it.
The ring came with a free sizing and a warranty, they also advise to take the ring in every other month and have it cleaned and they check on the setting to make sure the diamonds are in good shape, I think that’s worth paying a little extra when you have a little added care to your jewelry.
You pay more than a department store, but the quality speaks for itself.

I came in a little more than a year ago and was assisted by Ann the manager in selecting the perfect engagement ring. She helped me along the way with my down payment and monthly payments until everything was all paid off. As life continued for my fiancé and I, there was a little issue with the ring and I overnighted it back to Ann from Florida (where we now reside). I can’t say how impressed I am with Ann’s service and great positive attitude in helping me get back my fiancé’s ring. I learned I paid double the price other retailers offered the same wedding band I purchased at George Thompson and he would not accept the return within the 30 day guarantee period. The ring was perfectly fine and no where do they advertise any stipulations about their return policy prior to purchase.
The wedding band I purchased was to replace one that I had lost. I originally purchased my wife’s wedding ring set at George Thompson 6 years ago.
I will never return to George Thompson and I will warn all others to look elsewhere.
I urge anyone who goes to George Thompson to compare prices before making a purchase, you could save yourself hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

I read all the bad reviews buy went shitty service crappy rings that, look like u get out of a 25 cent machine I think that they had people write good reviews on purpose so it looked like they weren’t crap

We was helped by Terry Lopez that works there and she was great. She took her time and showed us lots of rings, and when it comes to finding the right rings, it can take a while. We found what we wanted and within a hour and a half, our ring was cut to size cleaned and ready for us to pick up and take home. Thank you Terry Lopez and everyone at GT. My fiancé and I are very happy and in love.

There were so many mixed reviews, I didn’t know what to expect when we decided to head down here. My best friend purchased her wedding band from them years ago, and had nice things to say, so that’s what sold me on checking it out.
We were greeted by Sue, who is absolutely wonderful. She introduced herself, explained the case layouts and then said «I don’t want to hover. Just let me know if you’d like to see anything»
She doesn’t want to hover ?? What?! Isn’t this a jewelry store? :)
She was great about helping us when we needed her, but giving us space to discuss everything. She was very helpful and very sweet.

This place sure polarizes reviews. It seems like people either love this place or hate it!
Have seen the commercials for years and finally came in. Place was busy. Was greeted by Annie who was helpful. She showed me stuff that was in my budget and gave me some good ideas. Also liked the way they track the diamond and color and will give you 100% credit if you want to upgrade which I intend to do for my fiancée. All in all a much better experience that what you would get in a mall jewelry store.
