Don’t go here overpriced, I’ve bought a diamond here said to be worth a large sum of money, well things didn’t work out wanted to get credit back or SOMETHING, they said they arent in the market to buy diamonds right now which is fine, but when I asked how much is my diamond worth better to help me look for a good deal on it, they kept avoiding the question saying blah this blah that, that they said oh it is worth what u bought it… went to George Thompson come to find out I paid 3 times it worth. Never going here again and I advise everyone to go get other options for diamonds I kno retail is high but come on that’s almost a 50 percent more then 50 percent mark up bunch of scammer and they won’t even man up to tell u the truth… go online do ur research and don’t be like me but no the integrity here is not good find someone that will give u a fair deal

Took my wife’s ring to get the center setting tightened so the diamond wouldn’t fall out. A couple of months later, another diamond fell out. Didn’t get around to returning it. Lately, took same ring to another jeweler and found that the previous jeweler, Van Gundy, did not properly set the stone, had to pay for repairs again.

Making possibly the most important jewelry purchase of my life, Beth helped me in finding the perfect engagement ring for my soon-​to-​be wife. All I knew was the cut of stone I was supposed to get. I had no idea about all the other choices and options to be considered. That’s where Beth really shined. She found the perfect stone for my needs and within my budget too. She had some custom crafting done to create a ring my lady absolutely adores. Looking back, I couldn’t imagine what I would have done without her help.

I was looking everywhere for a particular Hearts on Fire engagement ring. I’m very particular about customer service – especially when it comes to high price items. After visiting a few jewelers that disappointed me, I walked into Van Gundys and met Beth. Beth is amazing! She is extremely knowledgable and her passion for gemology is apparent within the first five minutes of talking to her. She has an upbeat personality and was – is– extremely responsive to my needs. The style I wanted had to be ordered but she had it in the store within two days. Beth took time to get to know me, my fiancé, and our daughters. She was receptive to what caught my eye and would adjust accordingly. She’s a great saleswoman but has never ever pushed anything on me. This means a lot – especially to a couple with extensive customer service, marketing, and sales backgrounds.
My fiancé purchased my engagement ring here and we have made Van Gundys our jeweler. Every person in here is helpful and accommodating. They make you feel comfortable while being professional. In the market for some diamonds? I highly recommend you stop in and see what they have. If they don’t have it, they’ll work with you to get what you want. Beth has been extremely patient with me and has helped me on my quest for the perfect wedding ring set. She’s become my Go-​To subject matter expert!

I did some looking around on Unilocal,and came across this place. Out of all jewelry places in the area this one had the best reviews. So that being said I took a chance on it. When I entered I was instantly greeted by Beth (sales rep) and Megan (owner)! Beth asked what brought me in and I told her I was looking for an engagement ring. She began to ask questions of what I was looking for, what my gal was like, etc. I showed her my ideas of what I wanted and she began to show me rings. Megan over heard some of our conversation and suggested a couple other rings. Beth asked me what my budget was and being the great sales rep she was I did not walk out spending a penny over!!! I was able to get the ring I want at a good price. They set the diamond I wanted in it for me as well as added a little extra surprise in the ring for me. My ring was ready to go in a timely matter and I could not had been more stoked on how it turned out. I proposed and my lady loves her ring as well as every gal that has seen it. I recommend this place to anyone in the market for jewelry! Beth was a great and friendly gal to work with, as well as Megan. She takes pride in her family business and taking care of the customer. I started going into Van Gundy Jewelers in Ventura, first at the mall, and more recently at their downtown location. I love working with Megan, who is now most often found in the Camarillo store. Read her statement on the bottom of the Unilocal page – it says it all. She cares so much about pleasing her customers, and she has excellent skills in understanding what the customer wants. Megan is the granddaughter of the man who started Van Gundy Jewelers, and her mother and father, Priscilla and Tom Van Gundy, are most often found in the downtown Ventura store now. This is a class act, with gorgeous merchandise, a beautiful and welcoming setting, and outstanding service. The staff are all friendly and very accommodating. I highly recommend you take your jewelry business to Van Gundy’s.

Megan, the owner, helped me create the most beautiful engagement ring. I found a Ritani setting online and tried it on at the store. She helped me finalize my selection and then helped me select the center stone. She was able to order a beautiful, certified custom stone. I highly recommend this jeweler!

The only star I can award VanGundy goes out to some beautiful pieces in-​store, and to sales associate Aaron, who was helpful and polite when I was unhappy with my purchase. I also am aware that Van Gundy’s donates to charity, which is nice.
Aside from that, my experience was offensive, and my purchase was overpriced and underwhelming. Purchasing a piece of jewelry is quite an intimate experience. I was shopping for a piece for my boyfriend, and even mentioned that we would like to come in to look at engagement rings later that week. This request was never acknowledged. The owner never smiled or greeted me in the two times I went in there, and she talked badly about other customers when I was only a few feet away from her (clearly within ear shot). What would she say when I walked out?
All in all, i was extremely disappointed and disheartened after my experience at VanGundy. I was not a priority to them, or perhaps even a concern, when I came in with an earnest desire to have a good experience and spend my money. Apart from my personal feelings about this, their manner of conducting sales is just bad business. They blew an opportunity to have a life-​long customer, and I’m sure I’m not the only one.
I will never go back to VanGundy, and my boyfriend and I have since purchased an engagement ring elsewhere, with a much more positive outcome. Beauty is only skin deep, even in the jewelry industry — if you treat your customers like they’re invisible, they’ll likely disappear.

First let me start by saying that Aaron is AMAZING! My husband purchased my engagement ring with lots of help from Aaron. He was and is still very caring, accommodating, and attentive throughout the whole process in helping my husband to choose the perfect ring. After I received the ring, via proposal, AND LOVING IT!!! SO BEAUTIFUL!!! I decided that I would purchase my husbands band from them as well. I found the perfect ring for him, again with Aaron assisting me! I have never has any problems when going in every few weeks, to get my ring cleaned, and to browse… Of course. They have such beautiful jewelry in there! I recently went into the store to get my ring cleaned 2 weeks before Christmas, and was somewhat greeted by a woman– who I have never seen before. She took my ring back to get it cleaned up while I was looking around. My ring was cleaned super fast, faster than usual, but it looked so sparkly and clean! So fine– I asked to look at a certain band– she showed me… (I still do not have my wedding band and am seriously looking to get something from them soon)… I asked if she could help me look at others, only because Aaron was with a costumer… She told me «No, sorry not today due to Christmas!!!» And advised me to come back in 3 weeks… Mind you… Aaron was with a costumer. And there was only 1 other costumer in the store at the time! So I left, upset. I feel they could have lost a potential sale that day, and we have made several purchases through them $$$. I later called to speak with the owner, just to let them know what happened because I couldn’t get over it. Come to find out the woman was the owner!!! She didn’t really care I was hurt about her pushing me away. And advised me that next time I came into the store to see Aaron and not her because she would 100% disappoint me! Wow. So I will definitely take her advice and make sure that next time I go in, I will ONLY deal with Aaron!

I only needed a watch fitting and they were as polite and responsive as if I’d just bought expensive jewelry. I would gladly recommend them to anyone.

I bought a total of 3 rings ($ 2,495) during one of their discount sales. I have a total of 5 Van Gundy rings and they are beautiful! I believe they are true quality and if you go when they have their sales you’ll get really great prices. These are conflict free diamonds as well, which I feel everyone should buy. I bought a diamond ring 2 years ago (at one of their sales) and I noticed one of the diamonds were loose, I took it back to the store, expecting to pay for repairs (Which I would have no problem with), and they fixed it at NO charge! Wow! The sales clerks are always friendly and helpful. They do not push… they even get to know you :). I love this place… I can’t wait for the next sale :)
