I so wanted to love this place. The hubby and I had talked about going here for a while and made it a date night. The place was dead quiet and freezing cold. not a welcoming atmosphere to start off the night. It took a few minutes for our waitress to see us because a couple came in after us, one of whom seemed to be a friend of the staff and the waitress had gone to chat with him for a while. Afterwards she came and got our drink orders. My husband had brought his own wine and he was informed of the $ 15 corkage fee«which is listed on the website». While I have no problem with this, we specifically checked the website for this for 20 minutes before leaving and were unable to find any corkage information. The waitress brought out 1 water and 1 wine glass, so we had to request a second water. She never did pour my husband’s wine so he had to pour his own wine all night, despite paying for corkage. We started with the ceviche & potstickers. My husband said his ceviche was good and the potstickers were fine. They were laid on a plate with hot mustard, but they could have used a more rich dipping sauce of some sort. Then my husband had the mac & cheese and I had the filet. Both were very good. I can see why the press was excited about this place when eating these entrees. Both dishes were quite enjoyable and I very much appreciated that my steak was grass fed. I should state that my steak ordered medium-rare was most definitely just rare, but luckily I like rare steaks so I didn’t complain. We finished the night with the Salt Banana, pictured here. Very good but wish they made the ice cream in house rather than just using Mcconnells. Overall our experience was alright. Not a bad experience at all, but nothing to write home about either. If we’re in the area and hungry, it’s worth stopping by — but not impressive enough to make a trip for. On the way home I asked my husband his thoughts on dinner. His response was«eh». Yup, sums it up nicely.

Dined last night with my husband, son and daughter-in-law. We had a wide variety of dishes and it was difficult to choose a favorite since they were all so good. A unique experience was tasting 12 different salts using gourmet French Fries as dipping«tools». We loved the atmosphere and the wait staff was attentive and friendly. Overall, this is a hidden gem and we will definitely go back.

I’ve never had a bad meal here, and the staff is always friendly. Highly recommend the skirt steak and bread pudding for dessert.

Great service, $ 26 ribeye better than Ruth Chris or any name brand steakhouse. Mussels and shrimp cocktail perfection. Doing a great job here, hidden gem!

While it does have a bit of a strip mall vibe, we had a nice time here. The décor is nice, great place for a date since there is not much else in the area. Service was excellent all around, we were very well taken care of. Great cocktail menu, loved all of the drinks we had, made very well. Prices are a bit high, but I feel the quality is there so they are justified. I did not get to try any of the food this time, so I’ll have to be back!

Has the best Mac and Cheese I’ve ever tasted. The staff are very kind and the modern look of the place makes you feel comfortable and at home. Also the person who owns the restaurant is always there and is always very welcoming with a smile.

I love this place. I’ve been been many times and tonight I enjoyed my Kobe Beef pot stickers so much I finally had to write a review. I love the whole menu: from the truffle potato chips to the Caesar salad to the seafood stew to the crème brûlée. My kids adore the Marshmallow pie and chicken with waffles. My husband loves the steak. I’ve never been disappointed. And you can always find parking!

It was pretty good. The service was extremely slow and my Moscow mule was terrible, but the food was good and dessert was very good. Good location and easy to get a table.

The entire dinner and experience was excellent! The hostess greeted us and sat us immediately and our server didn’t take long to come by and introduce herself. She was kind and polite and very attentive. The calamari and the beet appetizers were delicious! My husband ordered the catch of the day(the red snapper) and I got the flat iron steak cooked to perfection! The specialty drinks were great as well. Our desserts were delicious and left us wanting more. Honestly the atmosphere was classy, chic and quiet. Perfect for a date night with your significant other or friends. The entire night was amazing and thank you to the staff that served us!

Unilocal really needs to allow you to give zero stars. So unclear if this restaurant is serious about doing lunch, but when my colleague and I showed up at 12:05 today we were LITERALLY the only people in this restaurant. They informed my friend that their bartender had left and wouldn’t be back for an hour or so, which meant they would not be able to take a cocktail order. Apparently no one else in the entire restaurant was capable of pouring a vodka tonic. SERIOUSLY? Needless to say, it did not bode well for things to come, nor did the empty seats, so we opted to relocate quickly. Thank you for the hype, SALT, and for your inability to live up to your«full bar» status.

I came here with my aunt and a few of her friends because they wanted to try out Salt’s happy hour. Wrong. This Salt does not have a happy hour. But that’s totally fine because I was happy enough with my experience. My aunt and I shared the arugula salad with burrata and the kobe beef potstickers. Oh my god, those pot stickers were fantastic, mostly because of the mustard sauce that came with it. Just so delectable. And the burrata was delicious, burrata is always delicious though. Pricing is a little high considering the small portions but what I loved was that the restaurant was empty. There was just our group and then later a party of two came in. So its nice and obscure. Parking is not that plentiful but again, this place is not that crowded so it works out.

Update your information… I drove one hour long only to find out they were closed after luch and re open later on in the afternoon! That right there tells you about bad management. And lack of commitment!

We used to come here often but lately didn’t get a chance to do that. As we were looking for late lunch/early dinner spot with the kids we showed up again. Service was really good — the food was good for most part with only one exception which was the caesar salad — it was small and the flavors weren’t great. We will come again as this a very nice and typically Blair a busy spot

UGGG. Where’s a 5 star place and who are these people giving it 5 star reviews. Sheesh people really don’t have any idea what good food is. Unilocal should really do something about the people who rate food establishments, many have absolutely zero clue what they’re talking about. Ordered 5 things, sent 3 back, the other 2 were just edible. I believe this place will be out of business in 6 months. Just awful. P. S. I got ripped cloth napkin, there were plant remnants on the table, the place is dingy, there are cobwebs all over the back stairs, the windows are dirty, and who is rating this place $$?? Unilocal you need help. I had tiny piece of fish for 23 bucks and a beat appetizer that was 5 pieces of razor thin beats with a tiny piece of cheese. try $$$$

Things that you can do in an hour and a half: watch a movie. Run 10 miles. Drive to Palm Springs. You can also have lunch at Salt, or more appropriately«wait», or «slow», or «stall.» In need of a place for a working lunch on Las Virgenes, our party of 8 originally decided on Sharky’s, only to find that the line there was out the door. So we ventured across the street to Salt, where upon entering we encountered a hostess stand of Pixie-Sticks, Smarties, and other assorted sweets. Though our experience would soon turn quite sour. The restaurant was empty except for the 8 year old playing video games on the bar TV and two other people. Usually I take a vacant restaurant at lunch time as a bad omen, nonetheless we were in a hurry so I figured that we’d at least get in and out quickly. Alas, it’s always best to trust your first instincts. Our hostess turned out to be the only server on duty, as well as the bartender, and for all I know she was also preparing the meals in the kitchen. Another dozen patrons would show up, and she was more than a little overwhelmed. At the 45 minute mark we were told that the kitchen was finishing the last few entrees and that they would be ready in 2 minutes. We asked that she bring out what was ready, yet upon returning to the table she said that the kitchen would not let her bring out the order until complete. An additional 15 passed before we were given the same 2 minute assurance. Thankfully she was telling the truth this time as 180 seconds later our lunch was finally served, though the side dishes still trailed the entrees by an additional 10 minutes. Further, what the table had in presentation, it lacked in practicality, as there was no salt(go figure) or pepper available without an additional trip to the kitchen, which mirrored our drink order that was delivered with iced teas sans sweeteners or ice with the refills. In the end we could have just eaten at Sharky’s(twice) and still made our last appointment on time, however after our 90 minute interlude at Salt, we were embarrassingly late. Needless to say, avoid if you value your time.

Owner/Chef delivered and poured my wine. Complimented him on his many cleverly hidden Maneki-Neko cats in the restaurant. The food, everything was AWESOME. Artichoke, Chicken & Waffles & Shor trib with buffalo mozz ravioli. Oregon Pinto Gris & Argentenian Malbec Artichoke, perfectly toasty grilled. Im mot much of a mayo person so I asked for melted butter over the aiioli, I did try the aioli and Mehh don’t take that as a negative, I just don’t like mayonnaise unless its heavily seasoned. This was not. Chicken & Waffles is actually an entrée sized dish. Two pounded thin breasts of panko breaded chicken breast are drizzled with balsamic reduction and served with homemade belgium waffles and maple syrup. OMG this was TODIEFOR! Short rib with buffalo mozzarella ravioli. We inquired about the ravioli as they were so deilcious, the Chef has a supplier make them for his restaurant, and the supplier is the BOMB. The short rib which was the consistency and probably half pound of tender melt in your mouth pot roast as good as mine, if not better! It was an amazing combination, the creamy mozzarella perfect pasta and the texture o the meat. Can’t wait to make this MY entrée next time :). The portion size was huge ! We had the Oregon Pinto Gris and it was crisp and light just like i like it, not too fruity. He had the Argentenian Malbec and enjoyed it very much. They have some unique combinations on their menu and we will be back to try them. The service is slow here, fortunately there were only three or four other tables on Sunday night from 645 till 830ish so we really weren’t in a rush so it didn’t bother me, what does take long is when you ask for something extra, sauce, another glass of wine. I think the overall atmosphere is pretty laid back, the Owner and the service staff so go here with a laid back attitude ask for your next glass of wine or cocktail when you are half full and you will enjoy yourself as we did. If you are in a rush, this is not the place to go. Relax and enjoy the chef’s cuisine! Appetizers, Wine, Dinner Got out the door $ 89 + tip

Let me try to explain it this way: Salt is like you’ve thrown a newbie in the kitchen, and every dish created is an amateur version of its refined version made elsewhere. Get it? There is no depth to this food. No complexity. No authenticity. No inspiration. Serious lack of direction. To tell you the truth, it’s like the chef pieced together pre-made store bought items of everything he wants to «create»…and not very well, may I add. Amateur bar food in an upscale setting. Don’t believe me? Go visit this place yourself and try to describe it to Unilocalers. I wish I were joking. This stuff is laughable. You should be ashamed at ruining such a beautiful, gorgeous place. Hamburger helper on the menu? Really? Is this a restaurant for adults or kids? In Calabasas?! Start over. Start Wayyyyyyyyyyyyy over.
