Industry Bar and Grill

Staff was welcoming and so helpful. Beer was delicious, wide variety on the menu. Really appreciated that they let us try a couple of the beers before we ordered. Food was delicious. Highly recommend the fish tacos. French dip was super tasty with a great horseradish kick. Can’t wait to come back!

Overall, there is much to like at Industry: the atmosphere and design are really nice and very trendy (in that vintage, Edison bulb kind of way) and the service I have experienced has always been kind and courteous.
I feel that Industry has potential to be a staple in the Calabasas area, a place where one can relax, enjoy the game or views of the Santa Monica Mountains, and sample delicious food. But, it’s this last component – the food – where Industry falls severely short.
Disclaimer: I’ve been to Industry three times as of writing this review. The first time, I remember being impressed with my Industry burger and fries. The burger was juicy and fairly traditional, and executed well. The fries were excellent. However, if you look at the uploaded photos and see pictures of a delicious burger and fries from around December 2015, be warned: this is not what will arrive at your table. Between that visit and my second visit, the chef changed, according to a server whom I asked.
Why did I feel the need to ask at all? Well, on my second visit, the burger and fries were terrible; they had gone way downhill and were absolutely not worth what the menu was charging.
On the second visit, the Industry burger was completely different. It was dry, overcooked to a medium-​well. It lacked a good sear on the outside. It was topped with both ketchup and mustard (French’s Yellow, I am almost 100% sure) by default (without any warning on the menu), which was just too reminiscent of a Fourth of July BBQ to warrant spending $ 12 – 15 (or whatever the amount was). This ketchup and mustard addition was not the only departure from the delicious burger I had enjoyed on my first visit. Next, pickled onions made an appearance, but were far too strong and jutted out on the palate – I know, I know, «jutted out on the palate? Christ, Patrick, it’s a cheeseburger!» But, think about: with both French’s Yellow Mustard and these extremely sour pickled onions, the overall flavor was very lopsided. There was no balance.
I went back last night, drawn again to Industry’s nice atmosphere and excellent beer list, but again was disappointed in the burger and fries, the most basic dish that a restaurant can put out.
This last visit, I went with the bourbon bacon burger. I avoided the basic Industry burger (more specifically its French’s Yellow and pickled onions), and opted for this one, topped with bacon strips, bacon marmalade, onion rings, and American cheese. Also terrible! First, it took close to 25 – 30 minutes to arrive, and the restaurant was not busy at all. Next, the meat was dry again! Note: the server won’t even ask you how done you want it, so I guess medium-​well is the default. And, I can’t believe I’ll say this, but there was too much bacon. I say get rid of the bacon strips (I took them off mine) and keep just the bacon marmalade. But wait, this bacon marmalade also is not that good. It’s kind of dry, mealy, and tastes like it took 3 minutes to make. While sweetness and saltiness are normally a great pairing, it just does not work here. Finally, the bun itself was dry, too, like it should’ve been tossed out the day before. It was breaking apart in my hands, crumbling in its task to keep the burger together. In case you haven’t been counting, that’s three elements that were too dry: the patty, the marmalade, and the bun. However, the onion rings were excellent.
And the fries? Tasted like they came out of a bag. Now, French’s Yellow Mustard and a bag of frozen Ore Ida french fries were staples of my childhood refrigerator, so I’m not against those things in and of themselves. But I’m against them when I spend $ 18 on them at a restaurant.
And this is a real shame, because I really want to like Industry: I think it is so nice on the inside, it has an amazing patio and fire pit, and I have had great interactions with the servers and bartenders.
But they have to get their menu together, especially the burger and fries. And, like I said, Industry did have very good burgers and fries before, but now they are truly worth avoiding.
I get the sense that the kitchen is doing some soul-​searching, between the changes in chef, changes in menu (used to be larger, now it’s smaller, and has eliminated dessert), and changes in its approach to dishes. My suggestion is to not try so hard to be trendy in the menu. Quality and taste before all else.

Great, great, great service. Came here on a Sunday afternoon it was pretty mellow. The guys working here were friendly and provided great service. We ordered a lot of their happy hour items. The food was good but wasn’t the greatest it is happy hour food so don’t expect it to be over the top. We had the nachos, the spinach artichoke toast, guacamole, corn, sliders, etc. They got tvs and an outdoor area with a big old fire pit. The restrooms were clean and the bar area is pretty cool.
All in all a good sports bar to come and chill out and have a brewsky or two.
Food was average but service bumps them up to a 4.

Very good beer selection (which is what I like) and the food was exceptionally good as well. Came to watch the NBA finals and they had the game playing on all but 1 tv and had the sound flowing through the surround sound system (a major plus for an avid sports individual like myself).

We had my daughter’s graduation dinner there — great food, excellent and friendly service. We really enjoyed our time on the patio. Highly recommend — try the appetizers and lava cake –amazing. Hats off to Frank, manager. Went out of his way to make my daughter’s graduation a memorable experience.

I just have to say again, the location is beautiful, lovely little waterfall and pong within view and great, big fire pit in the center of the patio! THERE GUACAMOLE IS THE BEST, like seriously!

We picked a lovely Saturday evening on Memorial Day when the locals were out of town & kicked off a great dinner with some Happy Hour wine specials of Pinot Noir. The place has a cool modern/​industrial vibe & really nice people. Ray at the bar & Mgr Matt were great hosts, our server was fantastic & sorry I didn’t get her name. We were kicking off our Anniversary week celebration with groupon here that went a long ways! We started with the Brussels Sprouts appetizer w/​bacon that was cooked just right with a touch of soy a great start. We shared the BBQ Ribs & Jadori Chicken dishes. Both were home runs & exactly what we were hoping for.
We’ve become BBQ rib snobs & these were melt in your mouth, falling off the bone & sweet & smokey to the MOON !!! with nicely done basic skinny fries. The Jadori chicken (free range & yummy) chicken is pan fried & out of this world moist & delicious inside & crispy & tasty outside with asparagus & potato slices.
We sat at a booth by the bar, as it was a bit on the warm side outside on the patio & enjoyed visiting with Ray the bartender & staff who were quite attentive & a blast to celebrate with.
When in the Calabasas area… this is a go to place!!!

This place is great! The atmosphere is good, the service is awesome and the food is delicious!
The House Bacon is REALLY good, and the brussels sprouts are pretty good too as an appetizer.

Used to LOVE their burgers and fries. The quality of the food has dramatically decreased since I last ate at Industry.
We live close by and ate here around 10 times when it first opened. We would bring visitors here, because it was delicious. Portions were generous and fries were hand cut and simply awesome. Burgers were incredible, with huge juicy patties that left you clenching your gut in painful delight. My personal favorite was the Jalapeño burger because the jalapeños were almost always crazy spicy and the bun was delicious. Monstrous flavor and high quality meat.
Not anymore. Went there tonight and the food was overpriced and below average. For the same price as before, my burger was half the size, with a cafeteria style bun and dry patty. No flavorful toppings. The French fries were no longer hand cut, but reheated frozen fries. Presentation was pitiful, as compared with all prior burgers.
Was told by the waitress that they had a new chef and were cutting down on portion size to reduce the amount of uneaten food. Totally get it, but the portion AND quality were significantly lower. Charge less money if you’re going to serve mediocre food! Removing this place from my list of local favorites. Such a bummer.

Came here for a law firm Happy Hour and they did a great job accommodating such a large group, they even opened up their doors a full hour early just for us! The food was good, our corn did come out cold and needed to be reheated though. Their Happy Hour menu seemed a bit small but I would like to come here for regular lunch or dinner and explore the regular menu. The interior is nice and cow themed, seemed like a local hot spot, as it was packed by the time we left.

The evening started off quite nicely as parking was not an issue when we arrived for dinner. My wife & I were greeted humbly immediately upon entrance of the warm, rustic-​industrial barn atmosphere surrounding the open layout. Almost makes you feel at home.
The experience continues as we are seated and introduced to our server who was incredibly attentive. Giving her a 5 star service review would be an understatement.
Now let’s get to the important points of this review. The FOOD! First, the menu isn’t overwhelming with information & is clear & concise. It simply describes exactly what you’ll be getting. However, the dishes are far from simple. The journey began with the Spinach Artichoke Toast & the House Bacon. The Spinach Artichoke just works beautifully with the toast which adds a nice texture to the already flavorful staple. Now, the House Bacon is a thick slab of Pork Belly, tender & juicy on the inside, crispy on the outside. Flavors were reminiscent to an Asian touch which partnered with the pickled veggies. Just amazing & is by far my favorite. The main course was the New York steak which didn’t disappoint. Every bite was full of flavor and cooked perfectly with juices just flowing out. Kudos to the Chef for a fantastic menu.
We look forward to coming back and trying the rest of the menu. It’s hard not to give this Gastro Pub 5 stars. Thanks for the experience.

This was our first time here. My boyfriend and I usually like to try new places when we’re bored of KBBQ! We found this place on Unilocal! it’s in a weird little Plaza but when you walk in it instantly changes your mindset, it’s a sexy casual kind of place. We sat out side by the fire place, HIGHLY recommend! So pretty and they have heaters all over the place for the ladies when your cold.
Anyways, good part: he ordered the Bourbon Bacon Burger ! And I ordered the Fried Jalapeño Burger! Can’t lose, and their perfect size !
Although I was disappointed when I didn’t get the same mountain of fries as everyone else as I read their reviews but the food was great! I paired my burger with the Kentucky Bourbon Beer! Ugh AMAZING!!! must try with the bacon burger!

Okay, so I am not giving the place an overwhelming review, but it is great. I loved many things about this place: wide variety on the menu, some of the food was excellent, they accommodate dogs on the patio and even have water bowls, attentive and friendly service, they take reservations and have a decent happy hour menu.
For those that are not local, this shopping plaza tends to rotate new restaurants and shops a lot. I am not sure if it is a bad location, as there are plenty of offices and homes in the area to bring traffic in (sushi nishi, which is right next door is packed pretty often), so there’s no reason why a restaurant here couldn’t thrive.
Overall, the food was good but just didn’t «wow» me. I was allured to this place when I saw that they had poutine on the menu. Their spinach and artichoke dip is great as well. Their burgers are cooked medium/​medium rare by default and tasted great. As you would expect from a gastro pub, the food can be tasty but heavy.
There were some head scratchers for me though. The ranch had a strong dill flavor (that is absolutely a preference thing), and I didn’t care much for the wagyu beef corn dogs. I guess I just have ghetto taste buds and wanted more of that snap/​saltiness that comes from the cheap hot dogs I am used to. Regardless, I am happy to come by here and try more things, which I didn’t have enough stomach for. I want to try the mac and cheese balls, more of the burgers and some of the tasty looking desserts. But for now, I am not «craving» anything from here yet.

We were headed for another place last night to meet a dear friend for dinner. As we waited at the light at Agoura Road & Lost Hills, we saw lights on over the patio at the former Wolf Creek Restaurant & Brewery. «What’s this?», we wondered. After checking it out, we discovered a new dining spot had taken over one of our previous favorite haunts. Okay! We texted our friend about the change of venue so she could join us there.
Gave it a try and asked to be out on the patio, though it was getting colder. The patio area is virtually unchanged since the Wolf Creek days, which works for us! The big central fire pit was ablaze, and heat lamps completed taking the chill out of the air. Our Adored Grandson started to protest, but when the heater went on, he was happy again.
Even more so when the chicken tacos arrived. Our server advised they were spicy, offering the sauce on the side. Perfect! Ditto with fish tacos. I’d recommend asking which dishes are spicy and whether sauce on the side is an option. The grilled corn was actually a bit spicy, which was surprising.
Their happy hour menu goes from 4 to 7, with many interesting and fun choices from which to tempt those taste buds.
We sampled the fish tacos, grilled corn, chicken quesadilla, and mac & cheese balls. Among the four of us we tried two of the chocolaty desserts. Molten chocolate cake must be ordered 15 minutes ahead of serving. It was rich, but not too sweet. Was garnished with several types of berries.
I don’t remember what the other dessert was called, but it was a dense frozen mousse concoction in a chocolate shell served with fresh blackberries and raspberries. Amazing! My buddy was gracious enough to share several tastes. Quite rich, but sublimely delicious.
Service was quite good, from the friendly greeting at the front entrance, to our server at the table, and the busser who got us situated with the heater.
Unlike Wolf Creek, they don’t offer yummy bread with olive tapenade. No bread at all.

What a great find! Industry Bar and Grill is a hidden gem in Calabasas that caught my attention on the dineLa list. After reading a few reviews on Unilocal,I decided to make reservations for a Saturday afternoon lunch. Upon arrival, I quickly noted that reservations weren’t really required, the place was pretty empty with the exception of two other parties. I was surprised at how spacious the restaurant was (either that or it was due to the emptiness of the place). The ambiance is pretty modern and trendy, there is both indoor and outdoor seating. Our waiter seated us quickly and took our drink orders. This restaurant serves beer and wine only (not a full liquor license yet… I’m guessing because it’s fairly new). From the dineLA menu (one appetizer, one entrée) we ordered the lobster bisque and fried mac and cheese balls as appetizers and the streak fritters and the bourbon burger for entrees. We also ordered the truffle lobster quesadilla and Dale’s steamed muscles (because they sounded amazing).
lobster bisque: this was a tomato based lobster bisque. It was very creamy and buttery. I could taste the layers of flavor with the cream and the sherry. The lobster chunks were cooked nicely and added texture to the bisque. I found myself craving a carb to dip into the soup (luckily the muscles were served with bread). The bisque was delicious, I hope to see it on their permanent menu soon.
fried mac and cheese balls: were just as good as they sounded, fried balls of mac and cheese served with a piece of extra crispy bacon wedged on top. I could definitely taste some cream cheese in the mac and cheese as well. Super decadent and very satisfying. They are served with a white wine sauce that went very well with the crispy, cheesy dish. This is on the regular menu as well.
truffle lobster quesadilla: this dish was a bit underwhelming for me. It is filled with mozzarella cheese, lobster, truffle oil, bell peppers and onions. The first ingredient (the mozzarella) kind of took over the entire dish. There was a bit too much cheese in proportion with the other ingredients. I wasn’t getting much lobster or much truffle flavor. If the appetizer is modified a bit, it can be delicious. It was served with a house made sour cream (from what the waiter said) but it seemed like a watered down sour cream.
Dale’s steamed muscles: we saw the next table over eating these muscles and had to order them. They are large steamed muscles in pale ale and white wine with sun dried tomatoes and served with ciabatta bread. The muscles were cooked well and easy to separate and eat. I tasted the pale and the white wine within each muscle. The sauce was just a perfect pair with the muscles. The ciabatta was toasted and crispy (perfect for dipping).
bourbon bacon burger: a big 8oz angus beef patty with crispy bacon, a crisp golden onion ring, cheddar, BBQ sauce, and a handful for spicy arugula. It was served with a huge try of french fries and pickled veggies. I could probably eat a whole tray of the pickles veggies. They were SO good. The burger we cooked medium well (per my liking) and the bacon, cheese, and onion ring added so many different textures and flavors. The saltiness of the bacon and the sweetness of the BBQ sauce and fried onion were a tasty combo. I would order this again, and it’s on the regular menu!
steak fritters: an 8oz cut of rib-​eye served with mashed potatoes, asparagus, a sprig of rosemary and roasted tomatoes. This was a simple but tasty dish. The meat was tender and was seasoned well. The sauce on top of the meat seemed like a thick au jus (but I also tasted some wine), it was flavorful but not overpowering. The mashed potatoes were creamy and the tomatoes were just roasted enough to the point that they were soft but still retained their shape and body. Sometimes simple is better!
Industry Bar and Grill in Calabasas is doing something right. Our waiter was very attentive and checked on our table several times throughout the meal. He refilled our beverages periodically. The restaurant sits in the middle of a large shopping center, so parking was no problem at all. I enjoyed almost every dish I had here and I’m planning on coming back to try more items on the regular menu. All in all, a very nice experience for lunch!

Once you walk in, you have to notice the high ceilings. It has such a bar/​brewery feel. So what comes with the atmosphere to enhance the experience? Great food!
I had the Industry Burger (medium-​rare), and it was awesome! They give you a boat-​load of fries, and no one loves French fries more than ME. The burger itself was tender, juicy, and like its garnishment — BIG. What an awesome meal!

The space is pretty cool, with very high ceilings… but that does mean it can get noisy… and when you are trying to watch a game with sound, it can be tricky.
The food was really good. I got the Jalapeño Burger, which I thought was excellent. They serve it on a tray with pickled veggies (nice touch) and a ton of perfectly cooked and seasoned fries… I mean a lot… so I had to cut myself off before downing them all.
8 oz. Angus Patty, Cheddar, Onions, Tomatoes, Arugula, Fried Jalapeño Chips, and Chipotle Mayo.
At $ 15, it is approaching the too much for a burger price… but the sides diffuse that a bit.
My buddy got the Veggie burger… Black Bean… Portobello Mushrooms and a lot of great stuff on that one… and it was well flavored, but a little mushy.
We also split a Southwestern Chicken Salad, which they actually split for us… Too many places won’t do that, but they did it graciously and evenly (you’d be surprised). So kudos for that. It was also tasty.
We did not have beer this round, so I cannot tell you about their selection or prices… but hopefully they’ll stay competitive with the gastro pubs and brew pubs that are opening up in the area.
Our iced coffees were always refilled and the same with water.
Our server was Chad and he was excellent, and the whole staff was really nice and attentive.
The only gripe I have is that many items were not available when we were there… around noon this past Sunday… They were on the Brunch Menu and the regular menu does not kick in til 2… so we did not get the Unilocal Check In Wings… I know the offer is still good… and a few other items we actually wanted to try.
But hey, it’s all about supporting the local joints… and about them supporting the community, so we’ll give it another shot… and try them for Happy Hour.

My SIL had a Groupon to this place and we decided to try it for dinner! It looks relatively new, and I heard the word ‘gastropub’ describing it, it was nothing like what I expected! Industry Bar is located in a small plaza that’s not really well-​lit. However, the interior of the restaurant was well-​designed and had a very trendy feel to it. Happy hour was from 5 – 7 (I think?). Unlike most Groupon dinners I’ve had, they were happy to apply the Happy Hour prices for the appetizers we got off the menu! They also let us use the free Unilocal checkin for a free order of BBQ wings with a purchase of a beer.
We ended up ordering:
–Short-​rib poutine: meh, was underwhelming but not bad
–Fried bacon mac n cheese balls: bomb, and I don’t even like bacon (I know, I’m not human)
–Grilled corn: pretty good, well-​seasoned
–Spicy BBQ wings: yummy, not very spicy
–Jalapeño burger: beef well-​cooked to a medium, jalapenos had heat, but not amazing
–Surf n Turf burger: beautiful presentation and favorite dish of the night, and probably the BEST burger I’ve ever had, had huge chunks of dressed lobster on top of a perfectly-​cooked medium beef patty with all the fixings
Phenomenal service, everyone was so nice! I’m guessing it’s new, and everyone was willing to help out. They forgot to take our wings off the bill, but it didn’t really matter considering we were around the value of the Groupon. Really impressed with this place!

Terrific restaurant, feels like a cross between an old school steakhouse and gastropub. I came with the family after purchasing a groupon ($ 49 for $ 80). The staff kindly shared with us that the groupon is valid for their happy hour items (everyday 4 – 7). The hh menu has a good variety, about 7 appetizers, 4 kinds of beer, 1 red, 1 white. The highlights of our meal were the surf & turf burger (medium cooked and with a good amount of lobster), bacon wrapped Mac and cheese, spicy BBQ wings, and grilled corn on the cob. The short rib poutin was just ok. Oh, the burgers come with a bunchhhhh of fries. I’ll probably come back for happy hour with my friends in the future.
Tip: parking is very easy and they are right off the 101. It was super easy getting back onto the 101 south after.
