Mathnasium Learning Centers strive to teach elementary, middle, and high school students math the way that makes sense to them. The hallmark of our program has been the way that it engages kids and gets them to know math at a level that is far beyond adult expectations. Today, over 35 years after its inception, the Mathnasium Method is providing children all over the world with the confidence, critical thinking skills, and mathematical ability to last a lifetime. We specialize in math tutoring, customer learning plans, personalized instruction, homework help, and SAT, ACT, and ISEE preparation. Our goal is to significantly increase your child’s math skills, understanding of math concepts, and overall school performance, while building confidence and forging a positive attitude toward the subject. History
Established in 2015.
As a teacher-trainer and consultant in public and top private schools, and father to a mathematically gifted son, Larry Martinek clearly identified a «serious disconnect between students’ basic skills training and the curriculum they are expected to master in the years to come.» Over the next three decades, Larry painstakingly developed and assembled a blend of methods and materials that proved highly effective for students of all ages. Larry’s work focused on helping children build deep mathematical understanding – number sense – by honing their math instincts and getting them to think like Mathematicians.
In the spring of 2002, Larry’s dream came true. Peter Markovitz and David Ullendorff, leaders in the education industry, made Larry and his curriculum the driving force of Mathnasium. Larry introduced his curriculum as the Mathnasium Method™ at their first math learning center in Westwood, California. Students of all ages found the curriculum to be incredibly powerful and engaging.

Angie Y.
Business Owner
Angie earned an MBA degree in Management Information Systems from State University of New York at Albany with full scholarship. After completing her degree in 2000, Angie began working in Silicon Valley for Internet/Software companies and consulted for multiple startups in marketing, operations and funding strategies. At an early age, Angie has had a keen interest and been a top performer in her math class. Her achievement came from both a firm grasp of concepts as well as tireless practice. She firmly believes that understanding is the first step for kids to develop passion and growth, which in turn, boosts confidence and develops positive attitudes towards math.
She and the Mathnasium team of Laurelwood are committed to helping students grow their interest, skills, and confidence in Math and are very proud to bring the Mathnasium Method to San Mateo.
