Universal Service Station

What can I say this is the only place I am going for my car repair needs. Honest and reliable. I love that he sends text and photo updates. He is so ahead of the curve. I had my brakes on my Jetta replaced and promptly so I sm ready for the rains now. :)

The low tire pressure alarm went off, so I needed to put some air into my tires. I drove up to the air pump at the Valero/​Universal Service Station, walked up to the cashier to get some quarters.
A friendly guy at the cashier gave me a clicker for the air so that I could pump the air away without paying for it. WHAAAATTT!!!
I know it is not much money to put some air into 4 tires (a couple bucks at max), but I was quite appreciative of his gesture. I just felt happy, and hope for humanity has been restored! (Well, it was not damaged to begin with…)

Recently my brakes started making noises and my car was due for an oil change. I was happy to find a shop that was in my city that could do both repairs. I made an appointment for the next morning and as luck would have it, work decided to call me in randomly for the next day. I begged my boss to push me to the afternoon so I could still get my car repaired. Then it dawned on me that I would still have no time to get ready while waiting at the shop for the car to get done.
I went on Universal’s website to cancel the appointment, when I noticed they had a concierge service. I called and ask how much it would be and they said it would literally cost me nothing.
I was (and still am) completely blown away. I had time to get ready for work and more while my car was repaired, without ever leaving my house! My car came back right on time; driving as smooth as ever. I can’t recommend them enough. Totally awesome shop!

They say that your initial impression that you make of someone within the first twenty seconds of meeting them is usually a fairly accurate judgment.
If they’re (aka my college psych professor) in fact right, then I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Universal.
My little adorable Mini Cooper has been nothing but problematic as of late. Like a poorly trained Pomeranian pup, she’s been an absolute terror, but far too adorable for me to even consider getting rid of. With that being said, however, I have a pebble-​sized heart comparable to that of the Grinch’s and have been toying with that very idea.
I told Jesse (the boss man at Universal) all of this, and let me just say that if someone could radiate genuineness, Jesse would. He was very straightforward with his advice, careful to not sway me in any which way. He pulled up his iPad and hopped onto Kelly Blue Book and gave me the price I should be looking to get for my baby. He also gave me several options to make maintenance a bit more manageable (economically) should I decide to keep her (third party warranties). He even gave me his number and email address just in case I found a possible third party and wanted to seek his expertise in judgment.
He’s restoring my faith in humanity here. I’ve been dealing with automotive repair shops and the dealership for the past few weeks and their estimates have been up the wazoo! The prices here are not only beyond fair ($ 79.95 for an oil change on a Mini Cooper when the dealership gave an estimate of a minimum of $ 150), but I’d even argue that they’re low considering the service that you actually receive. Jesse actually cares about you and your coche – regardless of how much of a terror they choose to be. He’s honest, reliable, and fair which unfortunately seems to be difficult to find in service stations nowadays. So, when you do find one that gives you a beyond great first impression in those initial twenty seconds (hint hint cough cough – this place should be your new jam), it’s important to never never ever let go. I for sure won’t.

This place is great the mechanic is so knowledgeable, jesse is real friendly too! One of the best shops this side of town!

Jesse is the best! I call the day before to get an oil change and he gets me an appointment right away. I trust him with my Mercedes Benz and for the price you can’t beat it! Always a happy customer and will take my cars to only his shop!

I think that was the best experience I’ve ever had at a mechanic. Jesse was so helpful and just a good guy. They did a great oil change at a great price with great service. What more can you ask for. They also looked over the rest of my car to make sure it was all okay and even though I do have to get some work done, there was no pressure or upselling or anything like that. Its a great shop and I’ll be going back.

Universal Service Station blew all of my expectations out of the water on what is good auto repair service. I totally enjoyed working with them.
I know they can be a bit tough to find. It’s hidden at the Valero station like a hip unassuming restaurant without a sign.
I initially had them inspect a used car I was purchasing. They did a very thorough inspection and even caught a few things that the dealer missed in their already thorough 180 point inspection (sorry Beepi, you’re still awesome for having my back!). They wrote up all of the things that should be addressed and even gave me pictures documenting the issues. Jesse was very patient walking me through the good and the not so good and laid out what should be taken care of and what is fine to let it be. He had a very calming demeanor that just puts you at ease.
Jesse seems like he’s always trying to raise the bar on the service he provides. They’re experimenting with a new «concierge» service where they come to pick up your car, leave a loaner car, then return your car after it’s done. A great concept that totally takes all of the inconveniences out of getting your car serviced. My initial experience with them was so good I decided to have them do the servicing, which involved replacing the rear shocks and a few other odds and ends. Needless to say, my car is as good as new and I have my regular auto service shop.

I refuse to go anywhere else! I live in Pasadena and drive out to Burbank to get my car worked on by them. Jesse is very honest and only wants to give the highest quality service!

This place is great! I didn’t have an appointment and Jessie was still able to work on my vehicle. When I told him I was going to Über it to the Burbank Center, he offered me his loaner vehicle. Once I returned he walked me through his recommendations. He and his team were friendly, knowledgeable and trustworthy. Their prices are fair and I will definitely be going back.

Jesse’s rad, honest guy, fast, and professional. I work in Burbank, if I need more work done on my truck I’m going to him.

Arriving here I just trusted the map because In fact there is no sign for «universal automotive repair». It’s a Valero station with a car shop attached.
The guys working there are very friendly and trustworthy. The prices are middle of the road but he tries to give you a fair deal. Fair is really the word. Not dirt cheap but also not overpriced and the work is good and done right without being rushed.
I had to leave my car for a few hours, and when it was going to take longer than expected, I received a call telling me so, and it was completed soon afterward.
They’re also willing to give fair quotes for work and stand by the quote. If he can’t do a job there, he’s got a guy who can and all around it was a pleasure to go here. I’ll be returning for my oil change.

Absolutely love this place! The staff work fast and get the job done right, and the owner Jesse is amazing and will be completely open abd honest with you. I highly recommend this place.

My 2008 BMW 328i Coupe SULEV was leaking Coolant all over the place. I went through 2 gallons of coolant in less than 24 Hours. I did a Unilocal search and found this place. Jesse was very professional and knowledgeable over the phone, so I decided to get my car towed to the shop. Turned out that my Upper Radiator Hose had Busted and I was putting the wrong coolant in my car. The total cost of repair was so reasonable and affordable. Jesse charged me a fraction of what the BMW dealer was tryna charge me.
Being a Woman out here with a foreign car, I feel comfortable knowing that I have a dependable mechanic to rely on and that I won’t be taken advantage of.

So glad I found this place. I move around the country every few years and have always had the need for a small town mechanic. Always being forced to repair my vehicle at bulls*** corporate auto shops. Finally I found that mechanic in LA of all places. Amazingly reasonable, fast service and Jesse is ALWAYS understandable. When you have a time crunch and he isn’t swamped by the workload, he will make your fix happen. He even helped me problem solve my situation when his work went after-​hours. I couldn’t be happier with all they have done for me.

I took my car in because it was leaking radiator fluid and a little oil. Jesse was great and honest where others could have taken advantage and tried to convince me to dive into expensive repairs. Jesse actually advised against me doing repairs that would cost more than the value of the car.
Once I get a new car, this place will be my go-​to shop for crucial car issues.

It is scary moving all the way across the country, and having to find a new mechanic. Before I was taking my vehicle to Chevrolet dealership, bad idea. Awful service, extremely high prices, and they lie like CRAZY. Jesse was an absolute blessing to find. Straight up, honest, helpful, and VERY reasonable pricing. He also will take you in that day, if possible.
My first problem was my air conditioning system, the dealership told me they would have to replace absolutely everything, costing me over 300 $. Took it here to get a second opinion, turns out it was just a bad fuse, costing me only 40 $. Second time around, my breaks were giving me constant trouble and noise. Dealership told me it was the break pads and rotors being rusted, which I had JUST gotten changed. Took it to Jesse and found out it was something deeper and dangerous. It cost me a lot more than just a pad and rotor change, but ultimately fixed the ENTIRE problem rather than a temporary fix.
Thank you Jesse. You guys are the absolute best.

I called first thing in the morning as my car unexpectedly had a list of repair «issues,» with the request that everything be done in one day, while I wait. Jesse, the owner, replied, «What time do you want to come in?» How often do you hear that?
But before I scheduled an appointment, Jesse told me the cost of the parts and labor to make sure I knew everything up front. And, unlike other repair shops, the final bill did not suddenly ‘inflate’ from the amount originally quoted.
I brought my car in that afternoon, hung out in the nice little park across the street, and my car was ready on time.
