Been taking my cars (3 Hondas, 2 Acuras and a Lexus) to Phil’s since 1983. He solved a computer problem on the Lexus that the dealer and another repair shop couldn’t. Great service, superior knowledge and fair prices. Would continue to use him but moving to south OC. Highly recommended.

Phil is the best, been going there for over 10 years, great service, trustworthy beyond compare (will honestly and professionally tell you whether you can wait on repairs), just a great shop run by a great guy, couldn’t recommend a business more highly. Tim

Best service and knowledge for Hondas. Will only buy Hondas because Phil will service them. He’s anal on maintenance but one car is over 200,000 and the other is over 300,000…so maintenance works!

Yeah you know I’m going to give a review of these guys after 20 years of service. I mean yeah they do good work but they seem to think they are GODS OF THE HONDA REPAIR WORLD AND HAVE said SOME SNARKY COMMENTS OVER THE YEARS. Between their prices and attitudes this place is over rated in my opinion and look at the other two people w one star and you’ll see. I can’t go to these guys anymore. I’m not going to go into elaborate detail but everyone is entitled to their opinion and I’m sure there are a lot of happy customers as previous reviewers noted.

I have taken my Honda Accord to many different Mechanics and even two different Honda Dealerships none of them could fix the problem unpleasant sound. Every time they would only say let it warm up among many other lame brain crap. It was not until I came across a long time customer of Phil Imports, that I heard of how awesome and fantastic Phil and his employees are. Not only did they all take the time to individually take a look at my car, they all made sure that the issue was agree upon before continuing. To top it off, once they began working on the problem, they took it upon themselves to fix all the poor workmanship that was done prior. Phil’s Import is a must go to if you need to get something done right and more importantly, they have a work ethic built on integrity and not by greed. Thank you Phil !!!

Where do I begin? I’ve been going to Phil’s Imports since my car was a baby (brand new). We’re talking circa 1993 here. I used to take my car to the Acura dealer prior to that but high prices and modifications I made to my car forced me to find a reputable «independent Honda/​Acura mechanic». How did I hear of Phil’s Imports? The good ol’ yellow pages. HAHA… Yes! We used them back then to find goods & services. That’s how long I’ve been a satisfied customer… I’m probably the pickiest person in trusting someone with my car and I have every confidence in Phil & his staff (Jerry, Joe).
Phil has always been straight up with me. He tells me what needs to be done. He tells me the work that can be put off until later and what issues need to be addressed right away. I have trusted him with the care of my car, which is my baby, and I do not know any higher compliment to pay other than that.
I go to Phil’s for everything from oil changes, minor & major maintenance work to replacing my wiper blades. He uses all brand new factory Honda/​Acura parts & some re-​manufactured factory parts when given the option due to age of car or cost effectiveness of it. I’ve referred family members & friends to Phil’s and they continue to have their cars serviced there, as well.
I highly recommend Phil’s Imports for the great service & honest approach he and his staff provide. The peace of mind has been immeasurable over the last 20+ years.

I was referred to Phil by a former co-​worker a few years ago. After feeling violated by the Honda dealership on more than one occasion, I was pretty fed up. Finding Phil has saved me money and dignity. Phil is an honest mechanic which is not always easy to find. Plus, he’s got years and years of experience. If you call him in the morning and tell him what’s going on with your car, he’ll usually have the parts needed to fix it within a couple of hours. Taking your car to the mechanic is like taking your teeth to the dentist, and as neither experience is ever an exciting proposition, you should at least like and trust the individual you are going to be paying in the end.

Phil is honestly the first mechanic I have ever had be honest with me even when it meant my not getting unnecessary work done. He has always been very upfront on costs, communicative throughout the repair process, and both kind and present during our interactions. In fact, tomorrow I am taking our car in to him, and have no doubt that it will be yet another good customer service experience.
If you are reading this, then you know how difficult it can be to find a good mechanic with fair prices and reliable work. Phil’s is just such a place.

I’ve been taking cars to Phil’s for about 14 years. He’s a straight-​up guy, won’t pull punches or sweet talk you, he just gives you the truth. If he says it needs doing, it probably does. Fair prices – lower than dealers by at least 20% – gets stuff done on time unless there is some unavoidable delay. and takes the long-​term view. He wants repeat business, and you don’t get that unless you give good service and decent pricing. Highest rating!

STAY AWAY FROM PHILS IMPORTS
More expensive than taking it to the dealership for repairs. Diagnostic fees are not applied to the repairs done. Even the dealership will do that. After spending over $ 800.00 with Phil, the problems were still not solved. He never gives you a straight answer about what is wrong with your car and will just play the guessing game at your expense (if it wasn’t that then it must be this). STAY AWAY.

I went to Phil’s because of the positive Unilocal rating and it completely lived up to the 5 star reviews. I got a good description of the problem, the service was timely and the rates reasonable (I did some comparison checking online afterwards). And Phil is a just a good guy. He listened to my description, predicted the problem and confirmed it while I was waiting there. He’s been doing this for several decades and knows his stuff. I’ve just converted to a lifetime customer. My experience with Phil was far superior to anything I ever experienced at various local Honda dealerships.

We have used Phil for years. Very trustworthy and knowledgeable. Does good work for a reasonable price. A rare find in this business.

I’ve taken my Honda Accord to several places in Glendale and Burbank and wasn’t satisfied with any of them. Then I discovered Phil’s Imports. This place is very close to where I live, and I don’t know why I never thought to trying Phil out before now. It was nice being able to deal with the actual owner instead of disgruntled employees at places like Colonial Honda which serviced my Accord for several years before I finally had enough of their overpriced labor and sub par customer service.
Phil did a 90,000 mile check and replaced many cheap parts (thanks to a dishonest Pacoima mechanic I once used out of desperation) for authentic Honda parts. He did all kinds of stuff on my car which my husband could describe better. But suffice it to say that Phil is a reliable guy who charges honest prices, and I’m happy that I’ve finally found a mechanic I can count on.

Phil’s been servicing my Acura for several years now. The car’s got 160K miles on it and it runs well. I take the car to him when anything more significant than an oil change comes up. He’s done the timing belt, clutch, broken a/​c thermostat, cv boots, new battery, etc. He’s always treated me fairly and I think he runs his business with integrity.

Phil’s the best — listens to you (unusual for a mechanic), keeps track of work done on the car and complete maintenance history, knows Hondas inside out, and very straightforward and honest.
Keep in mind though, he will keep your car on a by-​the-​book Honda maintenance schedule; everything will be replaced and serviced according to the schedule — this means it’ll be more expensive than the average mechanic, BUT — your car will run great.

All I can say is my car went in with one engine, and came out with one whose VIN didn’t match up. Um, okkkaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. I never had any other major work done anywhere else where my car was in a garage overnight other than here. When my car later got stolen and stripped for parts they left the engine-​the most expensive part. Hmm. The cops told me the engine in my car didn’t match up to the car itself and I put two and two together. I’m sure Phil and his employees are trustworthy when they doesn’t have your car long enough to fuck with it, but I wouldn’t take that chance.

First off, you might want to call to confirm this, but I believe Phil specializes in Hondas and foreign cars.
I was married to a former mechanic who did all of our auto work — oil changes, tune-​ups, etc. When I got a divorce last year, I had to find someone to do this. My tire guy recommended this place and I’ve been taking my car there ever since. Phil is incredibly honest and trustworthy. He always explains exactly what he’s recommending, why and how much it will cost and sticks to that. He waits for approval before doing the work and will tell you if it’s a repair that can wait because he understands that not everyone is made out of money. I would highly recommend him.
In fact, my ex-​husband had a repair that was beyond his abilities and amount of free time, so he took his car there based on my rec and loved this place. He will definitely be going back too.
