Julian’s Auto is run by Billy. I unfortunately had several bad experiences with mechanics, but Billy is a good dude and a fellow headbanger. He did a great job with my BMW Z3 (before it got taken out in a hit and run) and I will trust him with my next car too. He’s also done great work on my buddy’s Lexus SC430.
Billy has always been upfront and detailed with explanations. I really appreciate the time he takes with his customers, making sure I completely understood what was needed and why. Also, his estimates for price and time have been consistently on target. Easily the best experience I’ve had with a mechanic. Thank you Billy, Doug and Zack!
Also, if you are a fan of 80s rock, definitely ask Billy to tell you some stories.

My husband and I have taken both of our cars to Julian’s several times. Billy is such an honest mechanic who is a man of his word. Went to Julian’s to give them a shot as I was looking for a new independent mechanic in the Burbank area (I recently moved). Had an issue with my brakes squealing, and was expecting to be told a full brake job was going to be necessary. Nope! Brought my car into Doug the morning after I made the appointment, and by that afternoon he let me know that they were just really dirty and dusty and that he had cleaned them out, the pads, rotors, and drums still had plenty of life left in them. I knew then that these guys ran an honest shop. They charged me a very nominal fee for this service.
When I picked the car up, I met Billy and shot the sh*t with him for a bit as he ran my card through. I thanked him for a no BS experience and he explained that he knew that many mechanics are crooks but that’s not the way he rolls. I was impressed with his upfront, genial, and down-​to-​earth attitude. Shops like this are hard to find.
As I drive a 15 year old car, knowing an honest, local mechanic is a necessity. It’s never fun to bring your car in for service, but Billy and Doug made it as easy and stress-​free as it could be. I’ll be back.

I’ve been going to Billy at Julian’s automotive for over 3 years now. And he is simply the best mechanic I’ve ever been to. Not only is his work outstanding and he backs ALL of his work… but the guy is honest. Very honest. He’s great at diagnosing problems and doesn’t over charge you for parts… whatever parts cost him, they cost you the same. I cannot recommend him any higher. Please try him next time for your repairs. I promise you won’t regret it.

FINALLY found a trustworthy and super nice mechanic, thanks Billy! my husband has been raving about Billy for over a year and after my car started making a weird noise we took it to Julian’s. Didn’t cost me an arm and a leg as I feared AND it was ready within hours. Highly recommend

Had my car serviced at Julian’s Automotive and am thrilled with the outcome! My car is running better than ever! I appreciate the time that was taken and attention to detail. They left no stone unturned taking time to check every detail and ensure that my car is running the way it should. And I got a follow up call– 4 days later just wanting to make sure that the car is running well and was thanked for the service. That’s professionalism and customer service at its best!

I always take my car here for servicing. My husband doesn’t trust me going anywhere else, since every place always tries to add on services to make the costs higher especially because I m a woman. At Julian’s they are very honest and does great work and Billy is very trust worthy.

The Best mechanics I’ve ever had. Lived in LA for 8 years, so glad I met Billy, Zach and Doug. Fantastic work, good prices. I’ve had nightmares with other places. Goodyear etc… These guys do great work. I bring my 91 Chevy van to them anytime something is acting up. Julian’s rules!

I can’t say enough good things about this place! Been going here for a year, and have found them to be the hardest working, fairest, and most honest mechanics I’ve ever been to. Make sure to call before you take your car in, as they can be very busy (but trust me when I say that they’re busy for good reason). The owner, Billy, is a great guy — nice to chat with and genuinely interested in getting to know his customers and building good relationships with them. If I could, I would give them 11 stars!

One of the best places to have your car fixed and checked out. Billy the owner is a one of a kind honest person who knows exactly what he’s doing. No questions asked. He has great prices and I’ve been to many mechanics in Burbank and literally none of them come close to Julians automotive … I highly recommend this place to everyone friends and family. Not a good experience.
Had a 2 axle brake replacement, rotors and pads. Met face to face one day and scheduled service the next day.
Brought the car in first thing and it was barely out of the shop at day’s end, paying the bill there with a tense and terse phone conversation going on about my car and another customer’s… wondering WTF…
Front rotors warped in less than 6 months.
On the somewhat bright side Billy «replaced» them at no charge.
6 months later, warped rotors again. Spin the Wheel of Misfortune, could be a number of reasons that only the shop would know, though I have my own guesses.
Pisses me off because I work in this neighborhood and its history of car culture.
Billy and I shared some good rapid fire stories, including Julian’s history, and I was looking forward to having a long time shop.
Hope your experience is better, seems like many of you have had a good one.

I have used Julian’s Automotive for over 30 years. Their work is outstanding, fairly priced and reliable. I’ve worked on my own cars for many years so I can evaluate their work as an informed consumer. They are very fairly priced with outstanding quality.
I’ve had engine, AC, brakes and electrical system repairs that were completed promptly and professionally.
Billy and Doug have been in this business for many years and provide excellent diagnosis and repair. I have recommended their services to many friends with great feedback.
Car repair problems are not a crisis with Julian’s support.

Billy is the best of the best. My husband and I have been going to Julian’s for everything from a minor oil change to major engine repair. Billy is affordable, knowledgeable and the best mechanic we have ever had.
Do yourself a favor and take your car to Julian’s.

Finding a good mechanic is as essential as finding a good doctor or dentist to me.
So, when I met Billy at Julian’s some years ago, I knew I wouldn’t go anywhere else with my cars. It’s even harder to find someone who can work on classic cars… it’s a lost art, but Billy can make ANY car better.
I have recommended him to several people and always will.

I was looking for a new mechanic. My old one was all the way in Hollywood and needed something more local. So I hoped onto Unilocal and found Julian’s. I read the reviews and thought id give him a shot. I was so happy to see how close he was. And the prices were more than fair and didn’t even charge me for the initial diagnostic. Billy is awesome. I found my new «mechanic».

The team at Julian’s Automotive have been part of our family for about two decades now. They have dealt with our three cars and know them like the back of their hand.
Since the beginning, we have not hesitated to go in to just ask a question about how to deal with an issue for fear they will charge for their advice or time they took to do a quick diagnostic. They are HONEST, TALENTED at what they do, INFORMATIVE, and always FOLLOW THROUGH.
We have been satisfied each and every time we have gone to Julian’s Automotive.

I am extremely impressed by Julian’s Automotive. I had used them before and had a good experience. I had thought I needed a new clutch and got an estimate from Julian’s, but I wanted to get one from another place as well since it was about $ 950. I went to a (no longer) trusted shop that specialized in the car that I have and spoke to them about what I needed. The owner asked me to bring it in because he wanted to make sure I needed one. I got there and the owner got one of his mechanics to take the car for a drive. The mechanic came back and said I needed a new throw out bearing, so basically I needed a completely new clutch. He also said I needed new rear shocks. His price was a little lower, but since Billy’s quote was out the door, the other shop’s price worked out to be about the same.
Since Julian’s was closer I choose Julian’s. Billy asked me to bring the car in and he would work on it. We talked about what was wrong and I left the car there. He called me later and said he could not see what was wrong and asked me how I knew I needed a new clutch. I said It was making a noise when it engages and told him how to do it. He called me back later and said he still could not make the noise to happen. I went down and test drove the car with him and I could not make it happen. He explained that test drove the car on and off most of the day and did not see anything wrong with the clutch. It didn’t slip, engaged fully, it just worked fine. He said he would love to give me a new clutch if I needed one, but since I didn’t he didn’t think I should get my clutch replaced. So basically he turned down business because I didn’t need it.
I also asked about my rear shocks and he said they were fine, but if they were leaking he would look at it. (they are not). During the day I looked up what was done to my car and Julian’s had replaced the rear shocks about 6 months earlier. When I said this to him he said if I had problems with them he would fix them for free.
I am extremely impressed and pleased by Billy’s integrity. He could have had about $ 1500 job if he just went along with a dumb customers request. I can not believe anyone would rate this guy less then 5 stars based on how he has dealt with me. He now has a customer for life.

Wow honestly so blown away by these guys. Our car broke down at a CVS around the corner and we freaked out and drove to then first… Took us in set aside sometime to check out the car– even gave us cold water while we waited… the car ended up being okay but I know I will be going to them for everything now!

My boyfriend and I are new in town, so when I decided I needed to get the grinding sound coming from the front end of my car checked out, I was starting from square one. I found Julian’s Automotive here and was impressed by the many positive reviews so I decided to give them a shot. I took my car in on a Monday morning, shortly after the place had opened its doors. The guy who took my car (I forget his name) was honest in saying they probably wouldn’t get to my car until the afternoon. I didn’t hear anything all day, and called around 4pm to get an update. He said that he would know something soon, I called back close to 5pm for the diagnosis. It was clear my car would have to stay overnight and be worked on the following day, so I approved the fix (two of the tire rods needed to be replaced) and counted on getting a ride to work.
My car was ready around closing the following day. When I showed up around 6pm, I met Billy, the Manager, who worked on my car and is a super personable guy. I was expecting the charge to be twice what in ended up being and I could tell the shop was trying to keep things affordable for me. For the past week and a half, my Nissan has sounded and felt great. I would and probably will take my car back to Julian’s Automotive if/​when it needs anything. They are clearly good at what they do and I appreciate friendliness, honesty, and not being gauged for repairs.

I just moved to LA from Chicago and was excited to see the good reviews for Julian’s. I had a great mechanic back home and was so relieved that I found another one.
Unfortunately, this was not the case. I arrived at 8am on Tuesday to get an oil change and was told that I would need to drop my car off for a few hours because he was busy. I understand being busy, but then give me a time to come back. He said he doesn’t work that way. Luckily, my boyfriend was willing to come pick me up. I live 10 minutes a way and haven’t figured out the bus system yet. On the way back I get a call that my car would be ready in 40 minutes. It really seems like after I left he started working on the oil change.
When I got there he charged me $ 43 for a basic oil change. Is this the going rate in LA??? That is even more expensive then the car dealership and they at least give you a car wash. It also doesn’t seem like he inspected my car. In Chicago that is included with the oil change. I asked him if he inspected my car and he said yes and that everything was fine. I am pretty sure he didn’t because I know that one of my back lights is out. You can see it is out when I turn on the car.
I just think I got really mediocre customer service especially considering that I was the only customer when I dropped off my car and picked up my car.
$ 43 for an oil change. I just can’t believe it!!!
