A Better Way Cremation

Be careful here, folks. There is an old cranky, insensitive and deceptive woman working there.
Words cannot describe how a person could be so cold, rude, and displeased with the circumstances in dealing with the relatives, who just lost a loved one… And in spite her cold and resentful attitude, she tried to overcharge for transportation services from another city. (Over the phone price was 3x lower). Capitalizing on deaths and sorrow of other human beings? Disgusting. Stay away from this place…

Very nice. My father passed away in July, and Lilas made things so easy. She was very warm, her attention very personalized, and her pricing the best of three different companies I’d looked at. (The only thing that had made me flinch was that her price list wasn’t available on her company’s website, but that turned out not to have been a cause for concern.) We knew what we wanted, and she answered all our questions without trying to bump-​up the sale with any add-​ons or higher-​priced services. And she came to our home for both the order and delivery, which made it incredibly convenient for us. (I’m not sure she can always do that, but never hurts to ask.) Everything was done including paperwork within a week or ten days.

Our adult son unexpectedly died recently. As a 17 year (retired) employee of a cemetery/​mortuary, I knew exactly what we needed. The place I had worked was much too expensive so I went to Unilocal and found Lilas Smith. She is efficient, compassionate and the price was beyond competitive. It was hundreds less than the least expensive places we found, Everything went smoothly and quickly, thanks to Lilas. Look no further.

This place is wonderful. I have used them twice, for my mom and my brother. I got them from a neighbor. THe woman that owns/​runs the place is great, sympathetic helpful. She knew everything about the process, charges REASONABLY and just helps you along in a horrible time in your life. THey have beautiful urns.

Simply absolutely unbelievably awesome woman owns and runs this company. She answered the phone herself so delightfully when my dad passed at 5AM on a Sunday. I said, «I can’t believe it’s you yourself answering the phone. I expected an answering service or an answering machine. Why are you answering the phone?» «Because you called,» she replied in the nicest voice, adding that this type of thing can happen at any time so she’s always ready. So was so clear, so up front, so compassionate, such a gentle ear during such a trying time. She was so delightful. She was so good at what she did. She cost $ 300 less than the least expensive place I called. She personally drove by our place to explain everything and walk us through filling out the paperwork. She was 110% on our side. I simply can’t recommend her (Lilas) enough, and have tears of gratitude in my eyes as I write this.

I used this company when my father died in 2001. He had made arrangements at Oakdale Cemetery. I was shocked at the cost to cremate him. Not that money was the object. I felt that I was being taken advantage of by the company. I called Better Way Cremations, they were wonderful and took over the cremation. There was no stress and all charges were clear and within reason. I looked them up as my husband and I want to make prior arrangements. I was very happy to see that they are still there.
