Wright & Goebel Wine and Spirits

Loved shopping here for the great selection, but sadly walked by today and it is completely shut down and empty.

Stephanie was extremely helpful this afternoon. I was in a rush and I was able to purchase a ton of booze at a reasonable price. This is by far the best service that I have ever received! Thank you Stephanie for your patience and helping me decide on what was best to buy!

My brother who came back recently from trips to France was so impress with the selections of wine in this store. You can get very very decent bottles of wine in 15 – 20 $ ranges here. Beautiful space and great staff. My dogs love the store too!

This past semester I took a itWine & Beverage Management class in school and I was required to visit a retail wine shop for a project. I decided to visit Wright & Goebel Wine and Spirits because it was close to my office in Downtown Brooklyn and a colleague of mine recommended me to visit it.
It’s a very simple and nice small to mid-​sized wine shop. The interior is beautiful, calm, clean, and very organized. I had a relaxing experience while I was visiting Wright & Goebel. I came on a Friday afternoon around 3PM and there was no customers at the shop at this time.
The sales associate that was working was very nice to answer my questions about the shop, the products that were sold here and I was glad she was very cooperative. She allowed me to walk freely around the shelves of wines and examine the different wines and liquors that were available as well as take pictures.
There was no exact order in terms of color variety, region, country, and etc for the wines. There were a variety of red wines, white wines, spirits, and liquor too. I also like that there are tasting note cards in front of the wine bottles and the tasting notes would include: the name of the wine, price, vintage, grape variety, region, and notes.
Unfortunately, there are no more tasting events at Wrights & Goebel. I was also told that they were planning to move in 2 – 3 months.
A good point about this wine shop is that they do deliver wine/​orders. They deliver north to Nassau Street, west to Court Street, south to State Street, and east to Ashland place. There is no minimum purchase. However, you have to show identification that you are at least 21 years old. You can also order and shop for wine on their website which I think is very useful compared to other wine shops and websites I’ve been to.
Would I come back? I guess yes if I needed to pick up a bottle of wine and if I just so happened to be in the area. It’s not the best wine shop I’ve been to in terms of quality or variety of wines.

is probably one of the best wine stores or blue stores to go to in Brooklyn especially if you’re downtown. from the first step that you take me or your incomplete so me a rain selection of different wines and boozes neatly presented in the prices match just as well.
is this place my future it’s not your ordinary wine store everything set up in a certain way that makes you feel like you’re into 2024. The owners are super extremely friendly and they know what they’re talking about. i’m deathly coming back again

A booze store from the future. What does this tagline mean (I’ll take my payment in cash Wright & Goebel)??? A very Feng Shui setup: neat elevated and isolated booze displays; a maximization of the real estate made available to them; brightly lit, but not garish or obnoxious; essentially, a very attractive cosmetic layout… Utopian societies of a future era would be more than happy to stick this place in a Delorean, book it to 88 miles per hour, hit 1.21 gigawatts, and set it up as their go to spot to pick up some hair of the dog that bit them from the previous rough Utopian night out.
I found myself here on the way to friend’s place on Super Bowl Sunday of 2015 (suck it Seattle!!! I despise your team for arbitrary and personal reasons) and needed a very particular type of booze. After many failed attempts to obtain a moderately priced, smooth yet boozy, bottle of sake from my local liquor store, I decided to take a chance on this place (as I also needed a little drinky for the Superbowl, in addition to using it as an integral ingredient for the bites I planned to cook that night).
Upon entering, I was in awe… walking in from the frozen tundra into the halls of this establishment was akin to a mere mortal being whisked away from the ravages of an ancient battlefield and into Elysium or Valhalla (Roman or Norse respectively… pick and choose… or read a goddamn book if you’re lost/​confused). The ever attentive lady at the counter began to focus all of her care and attention towards me, inquiring as to what I sought… «Sake» was my brief, albeit, ever revealing answer. Not only did she point the way for me, but she proceeded to guide me to the precise vicinity where such wares could be located… only thing she fell short of was hold my hand, though due to social norms I could completely understand why she refrained from such a maneuver (though, would I really have minded??? Nah… not from her anyway).
A mere $ 19.60 was what I dropped on the quality bottle of Tozai brand sake, a bottle which has continued to give me mind numbing pleasure. Thank you Wright & Goebel for that not-​free gift of booze, as well as your bright lights and impeccable service. I wish you were my neighborhood liquor store.

Love this place! Use the free delivery service more than I’d like to admit on an online forum. Delivery is always prompt and they have a great selection.

I’ve gone here on two separate occasions due to proximity and I’m simply not impressed.
The service is lackluster — the folks at the register are typically disinterested OR when asked for recommendations, just don’t seem to have the knowledge that I would expect from a wine merchant. Adding insult to injury, the variety is not great. At all. How does a wine shop have only 1 Sauv Blanc from NZ? The mecca of Sauv Blanc.
Further, each time that I have ordered wines, the wines lack complexity. They taste like boxed wines masquerading as $ 20 bottles.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I won’t be back.

I was traveling outside of my neighborhood and needed a bottle of wine. My buddy recommended Wright and Goebel. The experience was fantastic: they have knowledgeable staff on hand, but if you choose to go about the shop yourself, each wine has a description of the wine’s region/​price/​profile as well as (for me, the most helpful part) what/​food scenario the wine would pair well with.
They might not carry the super low end stuff your bigger local wine store would carry, but you can walk out of there with a $ 12 bottle that leaves you feeling good about your selection.

Great selection of wine and top liquor. The staff is very helpful in choosing a wine to match dishes or your preferences. Love that they deliver! Haven’t made it for a wine tasting yet, but it’s on my to-​do list.

4 strengths:
1) Great delivery — they bring the bourbon right over
2) Nice Shop — the place looks good
3) Service — friendly attentive and wineknowledgeable
4) Location — there are not a lot of options in the immediate area (Ft. Green has a great liquor store.)
2 Weaknesses:
1) Liquor selection — there is simply not a wide variety there. If you want Amaro Averna (an Italian bitter), or a bottle of Eagle Rare, they will offer you alternatives — but choices are limited.
2) Price — simply put, these bottles are a bit pricey — but unless you have the time and energy to walk down Fulton, this is your best option.

A suburban sized emporium on a desolate stretch of Flatbush Avenue Extension with superb selection (particularly of Rosé over the summer) and service.

Without a doubt the best wine shop I have ever been to. Great service, great selection, great delivery. They have never lead me astray.
All I do is call, tell them what I am making for dinner and my budget, and they come through every time.

I’ve passed this place many times, since I work across the street, but I had never been in. One day my Mom asked me to pick up a bottle of Barcardi for here and this is the only liquor store in the area, so this is where I went. A little expensive in here, but it’s so nice. They have every wine you can think of. My co-​worker inquired about a wine she had when she was in Paris and they had that too! Their liquor collection is a little scarce, but I mainly drink wine so I’m fine with that.

You’d never know this excellent, high-​quality liquor store existed… well, I’d never know this place existed, if it wasn’t for Unilocal.Or if you’d driven by.
What I’m trying to say, is that there aren’t that many reasons to walk down this stretch of Flatbush Ave Extension, unless you’re looking for the most well-​thought out, clearly labeled liquor store I’ve ever seen.
Admittedly, they are more about the wine here — which is unfortunate because I’m more about the liquor — but the booze selection is more than adequate, with every bottle clearly listed with price, size, and they all look damn good in the cubbies carved into the wall.

The aforementioned wine selection is equally neat, with every bottle labeled with the varietal, price, region, and even notes to tell you a bit more about the vintage.

Great wine shop. Beautiful interior. Fantastic service by a knowledgable and friendly staff. I feel comfortable browsing and lingering through the store and there’s always someone ready to help a novice like me select a bottle in my price range all the while enduring my pitiful lack of wine-​connieseur-​ish vocab. i just want something simple and delicious, which apparently isn’t good enough for some wine snobs.
They offer a membership club of sorts through which you collect points for each purchase, and once a certain amount is accrued you get some kind of freebie? Not sure. once I get there I’m sure it’ll be awesome.

Our neighborhood desperately needs more food and beverage outlets. If I can’t find any food to eat, I can at least drink a bottle of wine for dinner! If you spend $ 500, they’ll give you a free bottle of champagne. Why not?!? So, don’t forget to give them your information when you check-​out!

YES! A wine store at the bottom of my apartment building AND they deliver. Nothing could make me happier. I’ve been in a few times and the staff are incredibly helpful and really nice. They’ve always steered me in the right direction and I’ve yet to buy a bad bottle of wine from there (not possible, I believe).
I’m a huge fan and happy to have them in the area!

Thank God someone has come along and filled the gaping pothole in downtown Brooklyn that used to be wine shopping. Sure, I’m nostalgic for that place on Myrtle with the bulletproof glass that burned down in like 2005 but we got condos now, B.
Great selection of small-​vineyard foreign and domestics and a VERY helpful staff. Didn’t really look at the liquor selection but I’m hoping they expand into small batch stuff and classics similar to the wine selection.
