I used to be a fan of this place until one of their employees told me to suck their dick because they were having a bad day… literally. never have I been so disrespected so terribly by a sales associate … I ended up having to call the police after he threatened to fuck me up. the owner came later on to try and resolve the issue and basically told me that I could no longer shop there. after shopping there for over five years. highly disappointed. ended up having to contact the Dept of Human rights. I also have video footage of him screaming out obscenities hes the only big guy that works there sad part is I still see him working there. I guess truly and honestly they really dont care about their customers.

I love these guys! They are always so helpful and go through the trouble of remembering your name. They are great for recommendations and will always give you the most affordable and delicious options. Also if you’re a BLS student, ask about their wine discount club… you can save 10%!

Helpful, friendly staff, who will always make a cheaper recommendation and work with what I want. Not only that, but I went in last night, and some creep started hitting on me; an employee noticed and started chatting me up so that I’d have an excuse to ignore the creep. All the staff is super friendly, and they’ve got a great selection of reasonably-​priced wine. I’m always very happy with what they recommend, they really know their stuff.

When looking to grab a bottle of wine, Zap is my go-​to wine and liquor shop in Downtown Brooklyn/​Brooklyn Heights. True to its location on Court Street and the split personality between Downtown and the Heights, Zap caters to the full spectrum of the wine buyer. A lot of selection is packed in this nondescript, narrow storefront where you can spend $ 8 — $ 100+ a bottle if you and your wallet so desire.
Zap is well-​stocked with French, Spanish, California, Australia, New Zealand and South American wines. The shelving is dated and dreary, but it’s easy to walk up and down the two aisles and find something you want.
If you want a chilled wine, my pet peeve is that Zap only has a 2-​door cooler; hence champagnes, sparking wines and all manner of whites and rose are stuffed in them without price tags. The sparklings have a price list on the outside of the cooler, but the whites and rose are just thrown in there. If you need a price, a very helpful salesperson is only a few steps away or you have to go search prices of the wines on the store shelves. However, it would be more convenient if they just slapped some price tags on the bottles they put in the cooler.
Nonetheless, Zap is a quick in-​and-​out, easy-​breezy place to pick up a bottle and head home for dinner… or to a friend’s home if you’re luckier.

I was throwing a party and needed liquor advice at a reasonable price. Mike S. was super helpful at guiding me toward a large bottle of red and white wine for sangria and a more obscure vodka for vodka cocktails. Great place with helpful staff. Thanks, guys!

The few times that I’ve visited this location, there is an older guy who is always very helpful and pleasant. But the younger guys in here always look annoyed at the world, they fail to grasp the concept that this is a place of business (No, I just didn’t barge into your home unannounced, you’re at work).
Anyway, the older gentleman always offers good suggestions (and is the only reason I’ve given this place 3 stars instead of 2 stars). Besides the Why-​are-​you-​here? ‘tude from the 20-​somethings, this place loses points on pricing. Not to mention that there’s nothing in stock that’s so great that it stands out (and even if there was no one is bothering to point it out). Basically, I don’t get the vibe that they have anything that would be too hard to find elsewhere.
I’ve been to some other locales and was offered some great suggestions regarding cabs, pinos, and more. And I like wine shops that offer complimentary tastings and take the time to educate their patrons on what they are buying and tasting.
I won’t be rushing here any time soon, especially when there’s such a thing called «options».

I came in with a friend and she was seeking a bottle of wine from Brooklyn to give to a mutual friend of ours. Being that she just turned twenty one a couple of weeks, she was carded. We walked out with homemade Brooklyn moonshine. Did I mention there was not a long wait? Alright, I did visit at 10 am when they opened. The guy who worked there (older gentleman probably in his 40’s) came over to us and asked us if we needed help and showed us to the Brooklyn locally brewed section. We came in thinking Brooklyn Distillery, but they do not have it in stock at this point. (minus .5 of a star) Good news was that there was only one person on the queue in front of us. The selection is pretty varied. I also noticed that the taste of this bottle was amazing. The best part was the cinnamon flavor. The bottom had an entire cinnamon stick just dissolving the spirits and making the beautiful aroma pervasive throughout the drink. Thanks Zap!

There’s nothing special about this place and they really don’t have any unique or hard to find bottles of anything, liquor or wine. That being said, their prices are astronomical and should be avoided considering there are other liquor stores within a ten block radius that are much more reasonable.

I will continue to shop here when I have to but I don’t understand this store lately. Everytime I’ve been in there the past few months its a bunch of young kids working who don’t want to help out. They actually just stare at you a lot. Last night there was a long line and one guy sat on the stool to watch the girl ring up customers.

I live around the corner, so even if this place really sucked I guess I’d be stuck with it for convenience’s sake, but thankfully this place is super friendly, helpful, and has fun tastings from time to time!
They have an excellent selection of wine, as well as liquor, and prices look more reasonable than some I’ve seen.

We left Brooklyn over seven years ago (to move to San Francisco) and we STILL have not found another place that was as fabulous as this one (if Todd is still there, that is — he made the place for us).

Zaq Liquors didn’t come through for us when we needed our Butterscotch Schnapps. The employees were nice though!

The Good.
The guy was nice and efficient. You can be in and out as fast as you decide what you want.
The Bad.
A handle of Tito’s is $ 37. Not the best price. But really not the worst either.
The Ugly.
It was actually $ 42 with tax. Does that tax rate seem too high, or is it just me [that’s high]?

This wine store should change its name to «presto» instead of «Zap.»
Have you ever seen those infomercials where they say, «instead of paying $ 200 dollars for this item, you can pay the amazingly low price of just $ 199.99, only if you call now!!!»
Well that’s what you get at this neighborhood joint.
I can’t fathom why I paid $ 29.00 (w/​tax) for a $ 15-​$ 20 dollar bottle of «2008 Cuvaison Chardonnay.» Perhaps its b/​c I went into this place after my first bikini wax ever (!) and I was still in the punish myself mode; after a horrible day at work. Because, there should be no reason why I allowed myself to be royally bitch slapped by higher prices for the same product.
Consider yourself warned… check around.

This place is great, any question that you could have about food and wine pairings, Todd is the one to ask. Not only is there a great selection of wines for all price ranges, but these guys are happy to show you a really great wine for less than ten dollars without batting an eye. My favorite place to buy wine.

Excellent liquor selection at great prices. The guy at the counter is a plethora of information on pairing, history, and industry developments. Always a pleasure to walk into this place.
